Guest Reviews
- Art (6/5): - I liked the location it was nice I was there for 5 straight days, I think there should be cleaning supplies to clean along with a broom and mop it tucked that there wasn't. I think it would be good if they fixed that.
- Phillip (9/5): TAO CABIN VACAY - LOVE THE ATMOSPHERE,PARKING,CLENSINESS WHEN WE ARRIVED AFFORTABLE ASSWELL WICH MY WIFE AND I APPRECIATE VERRY MUCH. No Kitchen to cook In Room but It's OK cause The Microwave Made up for It
- DELAINE (10/5): -
- Christian (7/5): Good nice little place to stay - Good comfy nice little place for a quick get away Heater did not work
- August (5/5): Great location just out of town. easy access, comfy for a little getaway - The location was nice. The ease of access. The size works for one person. The comfort was nice. The room had a rushed or slightly unfinished feel.
- Elisa (1/5): Wouldn't recommend. - The bed was very comfortable. Everything else.
- Rosie (5/5): I would not stay there again. - None Have more towels and toiletries
- Luquez (1/5): - Nada porque no pude entrar, porque no había nadie, estaba abandonado La poca responsabilidad, esperando en la calle
- Yvette (10/5): -
- ZVI (10/5): - The room was perfect, clean nice ready for us to stay
- Lucianno (10/5): - Loved the kitchen 😭 made so much food during our stay.
- Bertha (8/5): - Overall my experience was great. I liked the kitchen area but it was missing a blender and a broom. And I wished they just mention that parking is assigned according to RM number.
Area was quiet and clean. A really big plus was that there was a place to take the trash in same property. And that the place had lots of lighting!!!
I would definitely stay again.
- Brambila (7/5): -
- Pascal (6/5): Good for a one night stay - Good for a one night stay Poor location, little options nearby
Check-in process
- Juan (2/5): - The smell of bleach was too strong. We’ve left as soon as we checked in!
- William (10/5): - Room was really nice and clean. Communication was excellent and check in and check out was super easy.
- Robert (6/5): - My girlfriend and I were quite disappointed with the place. The front was dirty, once inside-the hallway really smelled bad, No air conditioning at all ( one floor fan), not enough towels provided, extremely small refrigerator that couldn't accommodate 2- liter bottles, the auto turn -on light when you walk into the bathroom was very annoying and would wake up the other person sleeping
- Rene (10/5): - Management was amazing. Accommodations were good. I had an awesome stay. The only thing there were no trays for baking in the stove. Everything else was amazing and a set of tongs would be nice too lol I’m a chef so go figure.
- Claudia (10/5): - Great place to stay for solo traveler. Safe, clean, one car parking, about 10 minutes away from the Village.
- Wendi (10/5): - Safety quiet and clean.
- Arnold (10/5): -
- Tracey (7/5): Disappointed - Comfy bed No fan or air con. Noise from the main road at the back of property. Shower had very strong force of water which made showering uncomfortable. Microwave but no cutlery to eat with only spoons. No glasses for drinking water. Smell of smoke wafting up the stairs from room occupied below us despite no smoking signs. Remote check in not a good idea when you have no sim card and they want to send you details of how to enter via your phone. Not worth the money we paid for two nights here. Bedside lights had red light bulbs in so very dark. Ceiling lights were to bright so no happy medium.
- Russell (7/5): -
- James (8/5): A good room and worth the reasonable rate but a little adaptation is needed. - It was very quiet; heard NOTHING from other renters. The small refrigerator/freezer was all I needed. The room was good sized with a large bath and shower.Check-in and checkout was easily done via text: good communication concerning lock combination to get into the facility. No air conditioning in the room (not a major issue for me), no Kleenex (except toilet paper), I found the TV took a long time to get used to (smart TV) and it took a long time to find channels that I like, the water in the shower was too strong and no way to control it, there are two entrances to the various rooms but initially I had no idea which door to enter; it was confusing at first.
- Garcia (10/5): We enjoyed our stayed had 0 issues - Good location bed was the best super comfortable Good location
- Wendi (10/5): - The rooms are large, clean, everything you need. Beds are comfortable. Quiet and staff is polite and almost always answer the phone or right back to you. Did i mention the romantic red lights, fireplaces?
- Nadia (10/5): - Clean and big studio.
- Jamie (4/5): - Property had no air conditioning. Property was not maintained. Shower rod kept falling, there were holes in the walls. Bedding had not been cleaned from previous renter. Said non smoking but reaked of cigarettes.
Whoever is maintaining the property may want to do some upkeep on the unit as well as the weeds that were growing in the front.
Pictures were not current. This was like staying at the bates motel.
- John (8/5): - Room was large. Decor is odd colors, purple couch, red curtains, blue and grey panel floor…having kitchen amenities is nice, bathroom is small, not well lit, but tub/shower is very adequate. We enjoyed our stay even without electricity our first 12 hours (not really an issue except lack of hot water) due to local electric public safety shut off. Upstairs guests were a bit noisy, as well as people using the stairs. The bed appears to be a firm memory foam, and was fine. The off site personnel were very nice and answered texting promptly. The ONLY real detractor was the very gritty floor which probably needed a good dust mopping. There’s a pretty significant water hammer noise at the kitchen sink. Nothing fancy but pretty adequate.
- Nancy (4/5): - The pavement from the driveway into the property was uneven and unsafe. We tripped multiple times and couls have easily fallen. No air conditioning and weird window in the shower.
- Marcin (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Ashley (8/5): Very good -
- Victor (6/5): - Owners were arguing and slamming doors at 4 am, dumpster to the place was touching my car one morning and left a noticeable scratch
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional - That it was clean and secluded area and quiet.
- jovana (10/5): - Great customer service, Tanya was great and very helpful 10/10 would book again!
- Collette (10/5): - Very good check in and communication!
- Donna (10/5): We enjoyed our stay! - A little confusing when we arrived, as to which was our room. However, we figured it out. Room was cute and gave us what we needed, including coffee set up, a refrigerator and microwave oven. I appreciated the messages, that the staff checked with me if all was fine. I would come back to this place if in the area
- Todd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (2/5): - As much as we enjoyed the room we absolutely can not recommend this cabin due to the unclean bedding. You know that saying, a picture is worth a thousand words? So I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
- Johanna (10/5): - Quiet nice place
- Jacob (10/5): - This was an amazing place to stay in Big Bear. Very convenient to snowboard and grocery stores are nearby. Very roomy and more than I expected.
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fredy (9/5): Superb - Clean and nicer than I expected Bed was a little rough and location was a little far from "strip"
- Steve (4/5): Caution! - Spacious king room. Dangerous stairs going to second floor. Stairs were extremely steep and the handrail had been removed. We almost fell down the stairs a few times.
- Matevosyan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (6/5): 5 days 4 nights - 1 sink is clogged, luckily there are 2 sinks in the room. Room has been cleaned by around 3:30pm, and I didn't receive the door code until 4:30pm. I was being told it needs an inspection; I was waiting in front of the cabin and there were no one entering the building for inspection. Microwave is wornt; it takes forever to heat up food. The rod is also broken, and it fell. no place to hang clothes, jackets etc. lack of towels for 4 nights stay. mattress is extremely soft; you won't be able to get a good sleep out of it.
the heater was great, it warms up the room nicely.
- Apryl (10/5): - Staff was able to accommodate our needs
- Sharon (8/5): - This is by no means a cabin.
Poorly advertised.
- Gonzalo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kabbani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sal (10/5): - The property is very private and spacious
Close to ecerything
- Christina (9/5): Superb -
- Matthew (6/5): - The management was really responsive and kind. Overall, this place is average. There is no A/C, so be prepared if you come during the summer. It’s about 10-12 minutes from the main area in Big Bear. The property was quiet.
- Art (10/5): Exceptional -
- alana (10/5): - i loved it here! i have 0 complaints! it was very nice, clean, convenient, and comfortable. the communication was also very clear and fast!
- Afshin (10/5): - Very nice and clean cabin! Highly recommend it!
- Melody (4/5): Disappointing - The TV it did not work.
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- marc (8/5): - Very cool little room, I thought it was a very good value.
- Brennan (1/5): Bad -
- anne (8/5): - Tao cabins was in a peaceful area and the rooms were nice and clean. I loved the fact that they had hardwood floors instead of carpet, the shower was awesome with nice tiles and the showerhead had good water pressure and was clean the fridge and microwave was such a lifesaver and was SO convenient, and the coffee maker and coffee that they offered was excellent! There was a couple things that could be improved. The all in one shampoo/ bodywash dispenser was completely empty, they could provide a bit more towels instead of just two body towels and two small square towels, there was also a can of raid under the sink which was akward and made it seem like it was there because they were sure that there were going to be roaches and/or that they already have a pest problem. Other than that, the whole experience was pretty awesome and the location was super convenient because you didn't have to drive to far to get to any of the markets, dining area, zoo and etc...
- Juliet (10/5): Very happy with the room, would stay again - Great place to stay, so convenient, very clean and just what we needed.
Booked very last minute and was able to stay for the night.
Entering building is easy with your key code, room had bathroom, microwave, fridge/freezer and WiFi.
Very warm and comfortable Zero issues with the property!
- Leo (6/5): - I arrived to the property around 11pm during a snow storm. In the morning, there was about 6" of snow. Getting into the unit was no problem. I booked the Romantic Studio, which is their biggest unit. It is big and spacious. Unfortunately, during my stay, the heater was broken on the coldest night. It was very very cold. I told management and they said they left a space heater and extra blankets. The blankets and heater were not enough and the heat wouldn't be fixed during our stay, so i ended up leaving 1 night early and booking another hotel with heat.
- Brooke (8/5): Very good - I liked the location, close to the city and lake but far enough to have peace and quiet after dark. The cabin was very clean, very organized, very comfortable. We only had one issue which wasn't a big deal at all but the handles on the cooking pans were broken but we made do.
- Silvia (2/5): Big Bear City out of power - By the time I arrived to Big Bear I find out the city had a power outreach. Trying to go places like Discovery Center was close, stores were close or open but using my cell phone light to check prices …..Didn't know wat time the power will come back Then I desired to head back home.
- Rafael (10/5): Exceptional - It was super convenient, cheap , super clean and comfy !! Me and my girl loved it and we definitely gonna book again
- Yaroslava (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (9/5): Superb - Staff were friendly and helpful Water pressure in the shower
- Clarissa (2/5): - Stay far away from this rental property. I booked and there were city closures due to snow so they contacted me about not showing up , then proceeded to charge full amount , claim I stayed , and refuse to reimburse me .Theyre terrible at communicating, always saying the owner/manager is on vacation saying they’ll let me know and never do. It’s theft/they’re complete scammers you’re better off staying elsewhere
- Wong (9/5): Superb -
- Rios (9/5): Superb -
- Keith (8/5): - 1 block off main road to/from Big Bear Lake area. Easy to get back and forth pretty much to wherever you like.
- Jasmin (8/5): Comfort in the mountains - The studio was comfortable and equipped with basic kitchen appliances and utensils. It's about 12 minutes away from the village and only a couple minutes from the local markets/ liquor stores. The reason I gave 4 stars is because the fireplace does not function, and I booked the room with the intention of using the fireplace. A note should be added on hotels.com that the fireplace is not functional or only just for display. The main window is directly in front of the main door so we were not able to leave the curtains open. Other than that, Amanda was quick in answering my questions and provided extra towels upon request. Also, The bed was really comfy.
- Jad (10/5): - It’s everything you want in a place that’s affordable and close to nearly everything you’d want. If you’re looking for a cheap clean spot to stay at while looking to snowboard and ski this is your spot!
- Wendy (10/5): - Matched exactly the picture advertised. Big kitchen big oven lots of counter spice. Fully equipped with pots pads dishes silverware. Only thing is you have to do everything online another big deal.
- Kelli (2/5): - Steep dark stairs, lamps with “red” lights on the night stands and very strange vibe.
- Briana (10/5): - Perfect for a little getaway ☺️
- Tammy (10/5): - Awesome
- Eddie (10/5): Quiet, Comfy, and clean. Relaxing - Quiet and clean. N/A
- Daisy (6/5): - Stay was ok, missed having AC available, a portable fan was helpful but room felt warm throughout our stay during the hot summer weekend. The bed was comfortable although the memory foam made body feel hot again with no AC in room. Place was decent, clean, and easy to get in room, close enough to drive down to restaurants and to the lake.
- Barbara (10/5): Early Anniversary Get-Away 🙂 - A very clean, cute room with all of the necessities for a quiet and relaxing weekend. Would definitely recommend. We will definitely be back. My husband and I had a wonderful time. The reservation manager, Tanya, was very nice and helpful.
- Aaron (4/5): - Property wasn’t clean with a lot of cheap furniture inside. Window issues and various construction defects through property
- Jerry (10/5): A Great Place to Stay in Big Bear - I had a really good stay at Tao Cabins. Unit 4 was clean with plenty of room to move around and good ventilation. The bed was comfortable and everything else was sized just right for 1 or 2 guests. The internet was fast and the TV had all the necessary channels. The bathroom area was spacious and the shower was huge with plenty of hot water and strong water pressure. The surrounding area was quiet and there's a hiking trail system not known to many visitors right across the street. Overall I highly recommend Tao Cabins and will stay here again. Cheers.
- Bill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (2/5): Never again - Avoid. Place has gone down hill dramatically since we stayed last year. Check in process is an absolute nightmare. Off-putting staff. Room is not particularly clean. Dust everywhere. Floors haven't been mopped in awhile; turn your socks black in one evening. Ants in the kitchen, countertops and tables. Only thing really clean was the fridge. Box spring is sitting directly on the floor, so who knows what crawls into bed with you. Fireplace, but it can't be used. Bed is like a slab of granite. No soap in the entire unit, for body, hair or dishes. Why have a kitchen without any way to clean anything? Kitchen poorly stocked, lucky to get 2 of anything. Plates, pots and pans were not particularly clean. One glass. No cutting board, but a full knife block. Only 2 bath towels, no spares anywhere. Parking is a challenge, backing in is recommended. Walls are extremely thin so you hear everything the other guests are doing and saying.
There aren't many great choices in Big Bear, but this place isn't worth considering. Hard pass, especially given how overpriced it is.
- Trevor (10/5): - Clean and tidy, very quiet and the responsive caretakers make checking in and out a breeze
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Rachel (8/5): - Nice little place for a quick overnight or two night stay I liked the room bed was comfortable and the balcony is nice shower had good pressure all in all decent stay
- Ian (8/5): Very good - It was clean and well kept. Very cozy vibe. There was a smell of natural gas in the room. Had to keep the window open to get fresh air in.
- Sonia (1/5): We couldn't stay because of the smell of propane gas. - The gas smell was too strong and gave us headaches and irritated noses and throats. The manager sent someone to check but they couldn't find the problem, and the gas smell continued and we were told this is a recurring problem. We asked for a refund to leave since they had no more rooms available and due to our health it was not safe to stay and endanger our lives due to the smell of gas, however after 2 hours trying to solve the problem we were denied a refund. We decided to leave the hotel anyway because health and well-being are more important than anything else.
- Samantha (6/5): - nice place for a quick visit, very cozy, a little confusing for check in as i didn’t receive unit number or instructions on which entrance to use but after calling i was able to try my code on a couple doors until one worked!
- Barbara (10/5): Great place to have all in one studio - Owners very friendly and helpful via text and phone. Quick to respond. Only suggestion would be is to have a roll of paper towels available to guest. Comfy bed and room layout.
- Shafagh (4/5): Awful Check-in at Mediocer Hotel - the location was reasonably close to the ski resort I was sent the entrance code for check-in 1 hour after the official check-in with no instructions. I wasn’t even given a heads up that the code would be sent to me later than what I was promised with no answers to my calls or text messages.
- Donavan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joseph (10/5): - Amazing property, very nice and cute room! Easy to get to. 10/10 would stay again, Miss Kathy was a great host!
- Michael (8/5): Nice room - Clean sheets, fluffy towels, and the instructions for check- in were well communicated by Cathy. The bed is memory foam, which I am not a fan of, but was rather comfortable. The best part was the rain shower room. Amazing! Felt like I was under a waterfall at a hot spring.
The only issues was that they only left us a half roll of toilet paper but housekeeping did bring extra rolls when asked. And although it's in a quiet neighborhood, some people were banging on the main entrance door trying to get in the building at 3:30am. Not sure if they were supposed to be there but they eventually left and it disrupted a good nights' sleep.
- Christopher (10/5): - It was a great and relaxing stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best in Big Bear - Stayed here a few times now, and always will when they have availability.
Stayed in both styles of upstairs units - these were certainly 2 separate apartments at one point, but have been very recently and very nicely remodeled into 4 units. The larger front rooms have a cool glassed in shower, living area and patio. Very spacious. The back rooms are much smaller with a standard bathroom, but have similar appointments and furnishings to the big rooms.
EXTREMELY clean - have never stayed anywhere in Big Bear this clean and new. Bed is pretty comfy, fridge is nice, new and cold. Bathroom is very clean, new and has good water pressure.
Parking can be a little tricky, always back in for best results.
Location is outside of town a ways, but easy to find and reasonably quiet. There's a big googly Great Dane next door that can bark in the morning, but no issues aside from that.
Definitely the best in town in my 5 years of weekend stays during bike season. You won't be disappointed!
- Maria (10/5): Great weekend getaway. - Lovely cabin. Clean, cozy, well stocked. Lovely floors and amenities.
