Guest Reviews
- Bryan (8/5): - Little ma and pa hotel. Dated, but was clean. Beds was to hard for me, but wife was ok. Shower was nice, it was quite except for the trains. Parking was tight, but was ok.
- Nick (9/5): - Everything in the room looked new and of nice quality. The bathroom was spotless. The walls and floors are apparently thin because I could hear other people pretty well. The TV reception was terrible and there was no cable, just broadcast. The Wi-Fi was really slow. I wasn't able to stream anything.
- Heaven (10/5): - Very clean, AC works amazing, employees were very pleasant and super polite. Amazing room for a really great price. Nothing. The whole stay was amazing.
- MICHAEL (8/5): I would stay here again! Older Motor Court style room. Just what we needed at the time. - Affordable, clean, roomy and well furnished. Noises in the wall, maybe from the water pipes?
- Merlina & Jay (10/5): - Room was very clean and updated. If you like a hard bed, you're good to go. Just a little too hard for me.
- Marilyn (9/5): Nothing fancy, hot shower, clean room, comfortable bed. I would stay here again. - This is an older court style motel. My room had recently had the bathroom renovated and the room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Microwave and fridge in the room, coffee pot and tea in the office in the morning. I would stay here again.
- Ariana (10/5): Overall great stay - Easy to check in and out very convenient for just passing through There was a big stain on the carpet
Bathroom was small but still functional
- Stephanie (9/5): - I like that they accepted cash still and we're quick to change the check-in and check out time that was great only charge $15 extra to stay till 2:00 for a late check out instead of the original 11:00 great service Wish I was a swimming pool but you can't get everything you want right
- Delilah (1/5): The microwave was brand new and the bathroom was nice - The price Everything, the stains on the carpet are so big. It would definitely help to get a carpet cleaner in there if they are not going to get new carpet. The mattress was so uncomfortable and hard it hurt both our backs. It felt like it was just wood. The smell was so bad we had to open the windows and it was cold outside. There is no cable TV. Just an antenna that just shows static. Thank goodness we had our sleeping bags in the truck. We slept on those. Definitely has Bates motel vibes. But the lady in the front was very nice. When it comes down to it you get what you pay for. (It is what it is, $75 a night).
- Robert (6/5): Good - I don't eat breakfast Nothing
- battenfield (7/5): -
- Garza (10/5): -
- Vandenberg (9/5): - The room was very clean and quiet the bed was very comfy Not enough hot water
- Diane (4/5): - Pet stains on the floor (at least 6 spots plus 2 larger stains). should have shampooed the carpet. On web site the sign said steak restaurant attached to motel, Wrong. The restaurant looked like it had been closed for a few years and used for storage.
- Ed (8/5): -
- Sydney (6/5): Comfortable, pleasant - We arrived late. A very kind man was there to quickly and cheerfully check us in and direct us to our room. The bed was comfortable and clean. We slept great. There might have been some water damage indicated by a couple stains on the carpet. Didn't bother us.
- Linda (8/5): The staff were very good at what they do, friendly and helpful. - It was an older motel but was clean and quiet. The staff was exceptional and friendly. I had a medical emergency so they let us check out later than normal. Some updating, particularly in the tub area would upgrade the motel. The mattress was uncomfortable. All in all for the price, this motel is a good value.
- Gary (8/5): -
- Caine (10/5): -
- Peter (8/5): Nice, clean place for a good night's sleep - The room was clean, spacious
- Kevin (3/5): - The heater will wake you up every time it turns on It sounds like a jet engine why don't you guys clean the rooms with some integrity The floor is gnarly I said I had a service animal not a elephant
And no the property did not meet my expectations with this price It needs to come down about $20 minimum
- Eller (1/5): - I didn't stay cause couldn't prepay with virtual card
- Sara (10/5): -
- Aine (10/5): Comfortable - Super friendly staff, very comfortable beds. Room was a little dated, not many complaints other than that. Seems to just be an older motel.
- Phantom_9 (2/5): There may be a worse motel in Mountain Home, Idaho but I suspect you'd have to search to find it. - On a positive note, the owner who checked me in was not unfriendly ... at least during check-in. And the room didn't stink of dog urine or reek of a Fabreze coverup. Where do I start?
The owner put me at the far end of his property in the "Livestock Zone." I believe he thought I had gotten too good a deal on the price and deserved to be punished. This room, however, was the MOST EXPENSIVE motel I visited during my ENTIRE 9-day trip!
As soon as I opened the door, I was confronted by huge urine stains all over every open area of the carpet. (Amazingly, however, there was no stench of livestock. The facility gets 10 big smiley faces on this -- the highlight of my stay!)
The internet never worked for more than a few minutes at a time. The owner claimed to be an Electrical Engineer who had "professionally" installed the network. But all he could do was "restart the router" again, and again, and again. When I tried to discuss the problem with him he was rude, belligerent and claimed he just wasn't getting enough money for the room. The only internet access solution was near the office where human-habitable rooms had access to a different network and where I was afforded the luxury of working from my car.
And the TV was didn't work either; the only station it could receive was fuzzy and had a LOUD buzz.
Then, to cap it all off, the bath lavatory's hot and cold water faucet was plumbed backward.
Someone had to work overtime to screw things up this badly. It was VERY EVIDENT why this place required a non-refundable prepayment.
I could write an even more depressing short story for the two-day experience but I'll stop here because re-visiting the place is too depressing.
- Steven (10/5): -
- Neil (6/5): -
- Naomi (10/5): - Manager very friendly and personable. Made me feel very welcome and comfortable and room is always clean and very functional.
- Soulek (7/5): -
- Naomi (10/5): - Staff very friendly. Quiet location
- Brian (4/5): - Bad location for freeway access, close to train tracks with activity throughout the night. Bed was ok but pillows were so flat they offered no support. Seems to be a place for cheap long term stays.
- RICHARD (8/5): - Yes
- Donna M (10/5): - The room is spacious and well-maintained. A minor renovation would enhance its overall appeal. The train was an unexpected surprise. After my initial experience, I would gladly return, as it offers a great value for money.
- Kathy (3/5): Worked since we were desperate - That there was an available room Grubby, dated, large spots all over carpet
- Goodson (8/5): Christine Love's the Highlander Hotel - Great, respectful knowledgeable staff clean comfortable rooms. Great price. The Wi-Fi didn't connect in my room and I've heard complaints about it not being a very strong or work very well for people in any of the rooms.
- Sandy (7/5): -
- Rex (4/5): - Easy to find. Decent location. Reasonably quiet. Couldn't get the A/C controls to operate. At least it was already on, but I couldn't get it to stop cooling after it was cool enough. Had to unplug the unit. Wasn't able to call the front desk using the house phone
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Scott (2/5): - Probably the dirtiest, most sketchy motel I've ever stayed in. I didn't even dare sit on the couch with the number of stains on it. I don't know who out there gave this any sort of positive review.
- Allison (4/5): Not pleasant - The host was lovely, the room was big Sadly not clean, flies everywhere. Paper thin walls beds uncomfortable
- Ted (2/5): - Ew
- Michael Vinsen (9/5): - Wifi a bit slow
- Ira (8/5): - Beds OK. No food, just coffee.
- Debi (8/5): -
- George A (10/5): - Very nice location. I will enjoy staying here again
- David (9/5): - No breakfast Its a pretty inexpensive place if you’re looking to get a good price
- Michael (8/5): - Very friendly owner family. Surprisingly clean, updated rooms with all overnight needs covered. Very quiet. Do not judge this book by its cover. I would easily stay there again
- Teresa (10/5): - Staff very friendly and helpful! Upgrades to bathrooms very nice
- Orrin (6/5): My room had roaches - July 2025 Killed 3 roaches (-3 stars) in bathroom area as soon as walking into room. Saw 2 more in the morning. The room was pretty clean. The bed was not very comfortable. A little too hard for me. Had a mic and fridge. They had an ice machine, so I was able to fill my water container with ice. The check-in guy was kind and courteous. The area was quiet. The air conditioner worked well. We were just passing through and stayed for one night and the price was a lower cost than others.
- Jason (6/5): - Neighborhood seems a little run down but the staff was excellent and the accommodations were decent for what was needed
- Pavel (6/5): - It is a cheap motel. The room had some garbage in it from previous guests, but nothing major was wrong. Just overall a cheap motel the way they usually are. It is good within its price range
- Sasha (8/5): Very good - Comfortable, quiet, friendly staff Just about everything was at least slightly broken. Most everything still worked, just not as well as it was supposed to.
- Larry (9/5): Comfortable and will go back again. - The owners were great, room was comfortable. Location was in an older part of town and Motel is going through a remodel. Rooms were very clean. The Motel looks like an old building needs painting but owners explained they were in the middle of remodeling the rooms first and then going to work on the outside. The price matches the motel but the hospitality makes it all worth while.
- Kathryn (8/5): - Desk person was super friendly!
- Robin (6/5): Pleasant - Room was slightly musty (mildewy) smelling. Otherwise it was clean and the bathroom was immaculate. Nothing.
- Spitali (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danny (8/5): - Little older place, but great for the price staff was very polite. It’s next to a train tracks for a light sleepe , might want to skip. It but it didn’t bother me
- Verified traveler (4/5): Moldy - When I entered the room, there was a heavy fragrance. Turns out, that was to cover the mold smell. Visible mold in the bathroom. It was a miserable night. Hot water was not hot.
- Trish (10/5): I would absolutely stay here again, if just for the staff experience alone . - The man in the office was SO nice. Very friendly. Very quick and easy check in process. He even reminded me to turn the a/c on before I left the room for the afternoon so it would be cool when I got back. Coffee, tea, and hot chocoolate in the office in the morning. Everything was clean. The sheets even SMELLED clean like laundry soap, I loved that. The bathroom area appeared to be renovated and it was really nice. Great little nostalgic motel. The mattress was soft but it did feel like it was teetering on the bed. The TV was just static didn't have any channels and I wasn't going to bother the office with that at 2am when I tried watching. The AC did a great job cooling the little "room" it was in but it didn't push the air fully into the area with the beds so it did get a little warm in there at night. The rooms could use renovation but it does appear they're working on that.
- John (8/5): - .
- Elizabeth (2/5): Very poor -
- Philip (10/5): - The place was old but the owners are working hard to upgrade the place. The room was clean and quiet.
- Errol (8/5): - Old
- Darlene (8/5): - This is an older hotel. No frills. The owners were great. The beds not so comfortabe.
- Deborah (6/5): - This was a clean, quiet, no frills place to stay.
- Kathryn (6/5): - The motel is a bit tired, but the staff was really friendly. The grounds could use some TLC. The beds were comfortable, though the linens were put on a little oddly. There was adequate parking for our large truck & trailer.
- Patrick (7/5): The facility is older & in need of some renovation. A bit pricey for what you get - Location Gravel parking area & price
- Stephen (4/5): You get what you pay for. A very basic room with a roof over your head. I consider myself lucky that I didn’t see anythi - Free coffee at 6am and not a minute earlier You have to remember to manually lock the door or you’ll unknowingly leave your room open for anybody to come in
- John (8/5): - Easy to get to.
- Goss (3/5): Don’t! - Newly remodeled room had dirty-noisy heater/ac unit from the 70’s. Boxes of tiles and bags of grout stored inside the room.
- Scott (1/5): Bad -
- Arlis (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (5/5): Basic roadside motel, would have been better without noise from road and neighbors - Motel was being renovated, room was clean and nicer than the motel looked on the outside Room was clean but smelled. Thin walls, could hear highway noise outside. Noisy neighbors above kept us up late. Thin door connecting to the adjacent room, we could hear every intimate sound from our neighbors' room. Very unpleasant, especially at 3am. Woke up in the morning to armed bounty hunters raiding the room above us. I am not exaggerating!!
- Sharlitta (10/5): Favorite place to stay will be coming back - Very friendly nice location close to gas n snacks very nice staff enjoy my stay Nothing
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms are much better after the upgrades.
- Rosa (2/5): - My family and I found the refrigerator very duty as well as the floor and unsafe
- Robert (9/5): I will stay here again on my future trips, clean and comfortable - Clean and comfortable nice managers plan on staying on returning trips.
- Sharlitta (10/5): I will be returning in the future - I really enjoy my stay there I would recommend friends n family to stay there
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Burhan (10/5): - Amazing
- Ronald (4/5): - Must be remodeling. Furniture stacked outside. Smoke smell in the room was so bad we were coughing. Water took so long to turn hot that my brother took a cold shower without realizing he needed to wait longer
- John (4/5): - Very old hotel. Very spartan. Small room with concrete block walls. Not even drywall. Poor part of town. Noisy heater. Trains across the street every couple hours. Cat meowing outside all night. Dirt parking lot. Lights outside shown into room all night through thin drapes. My wife struggled to sleep.
- William (8/5): - Clean room. Good bed. In progress of redo.
- Narcisa (3/5): Hilander Motel-Moutain Home - Undergoing renovations, but bearable for one night bed rest during travel Needs ALL over improvements
- Verified traveler (8/5): Remodel going well - Stayed in a remodeled unit. It was much better than the room I stayed in roughly three weeks earlier. Staff were very nice and helpful.
- merry (4/5): - They are remodeling & I'm sure it will be nice when done. Our ac whistled noisily all night everything was old and worn out. The management was very nice .
Are remodeling this property. I'm sure it will be nice when that is completed
- W (7/5): Like a trip to the past. - Friendly service It's a little dated
- Shawn (10/5): Owner is awesome! - Great!
- Andrew (7/5): Motel is dated, but the room was clean and comfortable, and the check-in staff was very nice. -
- Pete (4/5): - It was okay for the price. The room was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but it smelled of stale smoke. The bathroom was well maintained, but the carpet in the main room was stained and frayed. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful.
- Eric (6/5): Pleasant -
- Truc (2/5): - The rooom is old and not in good condition.
- Durham (9/5): Economical place to stay - I was a little skeptical about booking this place because it was much cheaper than the other sites in Mountain Home. However, the room was nice and the bathroom was great. This is an older, more rustic motel that still uses metal keys to enter the rooms. I found a TV station that was commercial free and left it on all night. I enjoyed the stay
- richard (8/5): - It’s a very basic, no frills motel, but the room was clean and a had good bed. All we needed! I’d stay here again
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dawn (8/5): Very good -
- Glenn (10/5): - Nice place to stay
- Kim (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dennis (7/5): The classic 50's-60's motel, yet clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. - Clean. Comfortable bed. Our shower modernized. Quiet. Lacked power outlets - kind of a scramble to charge electronics.
- Kurt (8/5): - Clean and quiet. Everthing works!
