• Walker (7/5): Good location - I liked the kitchenette and table, comfortable bed, quiet, and good location. Free breakfast sandwiches were good. No in person contact with motel staff. No information in the motel room about breakfast sandwiches. The floor was dirty. The shower stall was very small.

• Werner (7/5): The location and comfortability is there ! but the outside needs some TLC - Honestly, the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in, in awhile. Very clean and smelt amazing when we walked in. The location is great and the contactless entry is amazing ! There is no staff on site during this time but luckily we didnt need any extra of anything during our one night stay. The rooms are clean and modern. I will say when I first pulled in, I was a little nervous… the outside could absolutely benefit from some TLC and some landscaping because this place could be SOOO cute !! It’s adorable once you walk in but is absolutely not the photos exactly. They have been glorified with AI but it’s not tooooo far off so I will give them that. I honestly would probably stay here again for the rate in that area but they could really benefit from an outside facelift. I also didn’t love how the windows didn’t lock at all so anyone could get into those. But I give this an 8 because overall it wasn’t a bad stay for the night we needed it for.

• Lawrence (5/5): Won’t stay again. - First of all the grounds weren’t taken care of. Needed mowing and what must have been at sometime flower beds were now weeds. We knew what to expect from the pictures but just cheap looking interior. I would not have stayed more than one night. Very over priced. More like a $100 a night room, not $170.
• Emily (3/5): The pictures are deceiving - The bed was comfortable and clean. The blinds facing the parking lot had a gap so people could see in (like see us sleeping if they really wanted to). Someone before us must have taped the blinds shut because there was tape remnants that we had to use to keep it somewhat shut so we had privacy. Even with the tape, light from outside still shined into our room all night. The bathroom blinds were also broke and had tape on them, but you could still see inside if you were to be in the back of the building.

• Gabrielle (10/5): Great location, great breakfast, amazing value ! - It was so cute, easy self check in and check out and the room was clean/ bed was comfortable. It was much closer to downtown than we expected (by car 5-10 minutes!) the breakfast sandwich at the deli next door is a MUST. We would definitely recommend this place and visit again ourselves :)
• Chandler (5/5): Fine if your options are slim - Easy to get to downtown. Surrounding property was nice was beautiful lawn and trees around. Walls were very thin. We were placed right next to the family staying onsite, who also has a dog, which was an uncomfortable placement, particularly when we also had our dogs and were the only guests onsite for one of the nights. Our room was also below the deck of the overhead room so we got very little natural light. The shower head, which had very low pressure, also could not be moved and was aimed to shoot water directly out of the shower. All around not at all good value for what we paid for.

The room was clean but had a bad smell covered up with orange air freshener. Smell of cat urine, they tried to update the room but it was not great craftsmanship

One evening there wasn't any hot water to shower before going out for dinner .The AC unit was covered with dust and filter was never cleaned in a long time !That creates poor air quality and breeds germs !

• Joe (8/5): The Birches Motel is a hidden gem ! - Check in process was digital and very easy. Room was very clean. Office open 24/7 for any additional items needed (pillows, towels, etc). The Birches provided coupons for free breakfast sandwiches at two local establishments that were within walking distance of the propery. water pressure in shower could have been better.

Birches checked all the boxes for a great value and convenience to Downtown Saratoga with Breakfast Sandwiches & Coffee at the Deli next door..We will be back.

• Paula (6/5): Clean, quiet and convenient location. - Conveniently located a 7 minute drive from Broadway. Very clean and quiet. This included bathroom, mini frig and microwave. Had troubles with digital check in and shower not working, shower dial just spinned.. Both issues were resolved within minutes by the on site care taker, however the shower issue was a bit of an inconvenience. Unit could benefit from wall hooks or additional towel racks. We needed more counter space.

• Denise (10/5): We would definitely stay here again. Nice, quaint, motel. - We absolutely adored this little motel. The room was spacious and the king size bed was super comfortable. It had a small kitchen that included a mini fridge, microwave and sink. The also had coffee, tea and hot water in the room along with meal tickets for breakfast sandwiches at the next door deli. Jacob was super nice and eager to help if we needed anything. There are benches outside of each room and picnic tables and a swing. Super close to Saratoga Springs too! The freezer in the mini fridge needed to be defrosted.
• Ryan (6/5): Cute, comfortable, a bit overpriced for its value. - The location was fine, it was easy to get to. I was surprised to find that everything was contactless, we did not encounter a person employed by the facility during the entire stay. The code to the smart lock was sent in advance, so check-in was quick and easy. The bed was comfortable and clean, and the room was spaceous for a motel. The lack of continental breakfast was a departure from almost every other place I've stayed before in this category, but the arrangement with local restaurants for a free breakfast sandwich was a nice touch, even if we didn't have time to take advantage of it. As a small business owner, I LOVE supporting other small business owners, which I think is why I was a little disappointed that there were no staff there to see during check-in. Even extra amenities were available by just using our door code on the office door and getting them ourselves. The human touch is what makes independent places like this worthwhile, in my opinion. However, the glaring issue for us was the bathroom. There were NO window treatments, on a ground-floor room. If any neighboring guests, or locals, wanted to be a little pervy, there's nothing stopping them from peeking in the bathroom. The baseboard/floor corners were dirty, and there were parts of the walls where the paint was just peeling away. The toilet was loose, to the point where it felt like was going to come off the floor if you moved too fast. And the hot water lasted for about 2 minutes, then got scarce. I'm sure the fact that we were in a tourist area and booked the room less than a month out played into how much we paid, but considering almost all my work stays are in chain hotels with nicer rooms at about half the nightly rate, my expectations were definitely higher for the price.
• Kim Celine (7/5): Great Location w/ a delicious breakfast and immaculate smart decorated Rooms - The location, quiet area, great breakfast & lovely innkeeper. In addition they are updated rooms, very clean and smartly decorated. Although it was a studio with a sink and refrigerator, there was no dish soap, no dish/paper towel, no dishware, no utensils, & no freezer (so you could at least refreeze the freezer packs you brought with you in your cooler with things such as milk for tea and coffee, a few snacks, etc.) And, the glasses that were there, were just dusty margarita glasses (which complimented the fun vibe but we're basically useless). Also, I did fall through the chair on the deck because they've been there for so many years, sitting out in the elements. The innkeeper put another chair there in its place which was not a deck chair but left the other hammock-like chair there...for somebody else to fall through? Plus, a few other minor housekeeping details. Nonetheless, it's a decent price, a great breakfast, kind innkeeper, so I've reserved already for next year. But, I won't stay in the studio; as it wasn't worth the extra money, nor the trekking up the back stairs w/luggage & essentials. Plus, I now know all the extra essentials I need to bring with me.

• Kathlene (9/5): Stylish, comfortable, reasonably priced spot just a short drive from downtown. Highly recommend. - Very appealing room with a simple but fun style, reading lamps and end tables on both sides of the bed, a good shower, nice bedding and a parking space adjacent to the room. Basically everything we love in a motel. We also loved the coupon for breakfast at two places just off the property -- a very clever and appreciated idea. I don't love the totally online check in, but when we had a problem with getting a code for our second room, the help line was answered immediately and problem sorted out in about 45 seconds, so all good.

• george (10/5): - The property manager was a delightful gentleman. He gave me a lot of local insider knowledge because he grew up in the area. I can’t find anything wrong with my stay. It was absolutely great and I hope to go again.
• Moira (10/5): - Hidden gem. I have stayed in worse in higher class hotels. It was quiet, clean, cool, and super comfortable beds. My small complaint was the provided bathroom items (soap, shampoo, and conditioner), were empty (just conditioner). Great parking, safe rooms, and super quiet. Do not judge this motel by the outside (which is also very cute), it was an awesome stay. Easy check in and check out. Just far enough away from town to be quiet but close enough to take a quick ride to everything. Awesome stay can’t say enough!
• Judy (3/5): Spend a little extra to get a better room. - The location was good. Free breakfast at local deli was great. The rooms were dirty. Our feet got dirty walking on the floor. The bathrooms did not feel clean. The towels were dingy. I am no clean freak by any means, but honestly, it was bad. And the rooms were expensive! We never saw a staff person, and all business was conducted by text.

This motel is a pleasure and I would go back again. A nice place to stay if you are going to the races at Saratoga.

• Sarah (6/5): - It was a great location for our purpose. It was clean mostly. We wanted a no smoking room. Even signed a waiver saying we wouldnt smoke in it or if it smells like smoke we would be charged. However as soon as we stepped into the room, it smelt like smoke. Not horrible but to a non smoker definately noticable. I called the number for the office and someone got back to me very quickly and came out and checked. Also gave us a can of spray which helped. My other concern was the stains on the sheets and the cigarette burns holes in the comforter. Beds were very comfy. Lastly when wiping down porcelein when cleaning make sure you get all the hair. There was someonelses hair stuck to the pedestal sink and everytime you sat to pee you could see it. I think it is guiness having the code locks and being able to get extra towels and toilet paper too. It was a nice touch having the breakfast vouchers. The mexican american diner was fantastic.
