Caiti (6/5): A nice experience. - We stayed in Sweeney’s Hut. - Cabin was spacious and the bed and sitting chairs were very comfortable. - Private and easy to locate. - Breakfast provided was lovely (bread, butter, tomatoes, bacon, eggs, tomato/veg sauce, orange juice). - Hot tub was a great experience and sitting in it at night and seeing all the stars. - Lots of wood provided. - Seeing all the cows and sheep roaming around. - Beautiful outlook. - Provision of walking maps and detailed instructions on how to light hot tub. May be beneficial for future guests: - You can hear the music quite loudly if a function is being held in the shed across the road. Dampened our experience a little. - Closer to road than expected and some traffic noise - yet quite minimal. - Steps down to light the hot tub are high - some may have trouble with this. - Fridge is a powered esky outside. - Although very private, there are no blinds.

Anthony (8/5): Great rural location, awesome experience, but be clear which property you are actually renting. - We stayed at the Shearer's Quarters, which is 1 of 3 properties within about 150m of each other in a remote part of a working farm. Awesome off-grid location. There is a lounge/dining room and kitchen that is all together, which is well equipped. To access the bedrooms you have to go outside, and there are 6 different bedrooms attached, 3 doubles 3 twins, all with separate external entrances. The toilet and shower block is separate to the bedrooms and the kitchen\lounge building, so you have to walk outside to access them. The deck has a good BBQ from which to enjoy a meal and drinks whilst looking over a lovely landscape. Very chilled, great fun watching them round up the cows with the dogs next to our garden. Air con in the main house was fine, and worked well in 2 of the bedrooms we used, but couldn't get it it to work effectively in the other one. The info we received before we arrived said there was a chargeable minibar with beers/wine etc. There wasn't one, so meant a 15 minute drive to the nearest town. Comms very poor. Sent a question before we arrived that was never answered. The picture in the booking page was not of our actual property, it must be a different one they have elsewhere on the fam.

apoorva (7/5): - It’s in the middle of nowhere which is the good and the bad thing about the property. It has beautiful interiors and is very well maintained to give you that country experience. Everything you need for a comfortable stay was available in the property. The views were amazing, abundant nature and animals grazing from farm. The town is 20-25 mins away and the cottage was up a hill in a secluded place. We were in a group with small kids so having washrooms outside and rooms that aren’t connected wasn’t something that was mentioned or expected. In the night it felt a bit scary for them. The cottages are also very far from each other so it almost felt like we were the only people in a very wide secluded place. I also was expecting we will have some farm experience for the kids so they would enjoy. It wasn’t mentioned so won’t say it’s the property’s faults but just something that didnt match expectations. Some people love it, some won’t so much!

Our door handle for the front door was faulty and would only open from outside, gas lighter wasn’t working and while matches are also provided, it was difficult using with high winds. I’d suggest having two gas lighters.

Suzanne (9/5): - I've wanted to stay on Kimo estate for years and finally bit the bullet. I stayed for 2 nights with my little dogs. It was a really lovely experience being in the midst of a working farm. My dogs loved it and it was a completely novel experience to have cows grazing in the paddock directly outside. We had all the facilities we needed to be self sufficient. It would love to do it again.

The house was well-catered, offering all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The beds were very comfortable, and the property’s rustic cottage charm created a warm and inviting atmosphere While it wasn’t an issue for us, guests should be aware that there is no television at the house, and it is advisable to arrive with food supplies, as the property is located some distance from local shops.

Waking up to the sunrise too, it felt like we were the only people around. It was still close to everything, about 10 minutes into town. Perfect for a country adventure. Very very smelly dishwasher very unpleasant and dishes used near dishwasher has funny tasting residue. Was a little hard to find my phone reception was bad and no instructions on how to get access. No mini bar as described, not that we needed or wanted. Only x3 sugars were provided for tea and coffee and x1 tiny long life milk for the price. This was disappointing. Paid a similar amount at another location and was provided breakfast of fresh milk, granola, home-made bread, berries, yogart, and spreads.

Yasmin (10/5): - The location was remote and romantic, yet conveniently only 10 minutes from town if you needed supplies. The scenery left us speechless—truly the most beautiful place we’ve ever been. The hot tub was easy to use, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The crockery and utensils were quite difficult to use, as most were old, worn out, and the non-stick items had lost their coating. There were also no sharp knives, which made food prep frustrating. On our second night, we gave up and just went into town for dinner instead of trying to cook again. It would’ve been helpful to know this beforehand- but we would’ve brought our own utensils.

Joanna (7/5): - Amazing location. Beautifully decorated. The garden gate was incredibly hard to open. It needed me and my son to both lift and drag it open. It needs lifting or digging out. Also both bedroom doors were equally hard to open - both were not designed to go over the rugs. Rugs need to be moved. It was very cold in the back bedroom - it needs a heater or AC unit - my son wore his coat in bed. It was disappointing not to have any milk for tea/coffee or a biscuit. Especially since so much trouble had been taken on filling the mini bar! There were no non-alcoholic drinks! The bathroom needs a shelf or hooks or space for wash bags. It’s not nice to have to use the floor! The cottage front door was really hard to open, lock and unlock. Needs maintenance. Farm Dogs barked incessantly from 6am. I know it’s a farm - but maybe a warning or provide ear plugs?

Linda (7/5): Lovely location but room for improvement. - Darley Cottage at Kimo Estate is a wonderful location - the scenery spectacular and it is so peaceful with lovely birdlife to watch from the front verandah. The house was very clean and very comfortable beds with good linen etc. Contact from the owner was only by automated text, but provided plenty of information about finding the place, rules and suggested activities around Gundagai. We found it rather impersonal as there was no welcome note or information when we arrived...the cottage was unlocked and we just let ourselves in and left it the same way the next day without seeing a soul. We'd like to have had some information about where we could walk - just a mudmap for example. The website/guest portal was clear that we couldn't wander around the farm at will (fair enough) and some longer walks suggested if you wanted to download the Strava app...but we really just wanted to know where we could stroll nearby without downloading an app. Nothing also about the history which we would have loved to have read. The house was very well supplied, but for the price, only 3 odd wine glasses (plenty of champagne glasses), the cutlery was all flung in a box with all sorts of misc. implements, so you were in fear of cutting yourself with the carving knife while ratting around for a teaspoon! The coffee pod machine didn't work, there was no white wine despite the price list saying there was (but a bottle of Shiraz in the fridge!). A partly used bottle of milk, no tissues, or paper towel. Just a lot of missing little details that we felt a place of this price and quality should have offered, which was disappointing.

Place was a bit untidy and kitchen items just stashed in cupboards - but i guess you get that with a old cottage.

Only thing that I would suggest is bringing your own drinking water & some stick-on black out blinds if you’ve got a baby that likes a dark bedroom. The property does also need a bit of maintenance- the door handles fell off constantly & there was lots of little ant friends. Otherwise, the property was very nice, clean & comfortable. Thank you!

Hilary (6/5): Beautiful views but in need of some upgrades for the price paid - The location and views were spectacular. Unfortunately, there were a few issues at the hut which should be an easy fix to bring the experience up higher. Firstly, neither of the lights in the main area worked, the only light that did work was in the shower. They had a stand alone light that we set up in the middle of the room to light up the whole place, but that's not ideal. Reading their google reviews, these lights haven't been working for five months... The ignition on the BBQ was broken, and the lighter provided was out of gas...luckily there were some matches available. The sponge to clean the dishes was dirty from previous use so while we tried to help and clean up, my hands were left black from the last time the sponge was used. For how much they charge a night, I don't think it's too hard for simple amenities to be available and in working order.

Courtney (8/5): - Over all the stay was amazing, the cute little eco experience is definitely one to try! Super serene and amazing views. There were just a few little hiccups that sets us off for a rough start - the first being no matches or lighters which are needed to use majority of the appliances, hot tub and fire place. We also tried calling the number provided a few times to see if they were “hiding in a place we hadn’t looked”, however couldn’t get through to anyone (which I get it, it was a Sunday but still) but this was fixed with a trip back to town but did set us back with getting the hot tub to heat up throughout the afternoon. Eventually we got sorted in the end 😊 Overall a fun experience though, would do it again - I’d just make sure I have a few little camping supplies in the car just in case.

Lucinda (8/5): Windies Cottage - Windies Cottage was very cosy and lovely. It was a great place to rest and recover from the daily grind. The cosy bedrooms and living area and animals were the highlight of our stay. We were able to easily contact staff after hours for support during check in to the cottage The check in process was not smooth as we had difficulty accessing the property. The message for check in process stated that there would be keys hanging on a nail on the front door, however keys were inside and the back door was in unlocked.

The hut is perfectly designed and had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The hut and hot tub were so clean. The Cottage is old, bit run down but in the middle of a farm, it was different and fun, surrounded by sheep, fire going, everything we really needed. Is what it is - what it isn't is a "vanilla" hotel in the heart of town that is boring
