The "old gal" has seen better days. - location and the car charger in the parking lot There was a mechanical noise that came out loudly every morning between 4"30 and 5 am. There was no coffee maker, no microwave, no hot water to make tea The main light in the room was difficult to turn off, maintenance had to be called. They were prompt The tub to shower mechanism broke, maintenance had to be called.

Our room was small but cozy and just right. The room was very clean and beds were comfortable. There was not anything we didn't like. However, be advised there are no elevators if your room is upstairs.

Response was essentially “oh well, have to find street parking” The issue is they have more rooms than spaces to park vehicles, so it’s up to chance.

Three story hotel - but no elevator

A block away from the main street, a short walk to plenty of restaurants and shopping. Will definitely stay here again. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Everything was excellent.

- james (2/5): Won't be staying again. - Location was wonderful. Bathroom was small. The stairs to the rooms are a nuisance with luggage.
- Melva (1/5): Disappointing - The room was comfotable The reason we booked the hotel were the big lingers with a fireplaces but you were not allowed to have a drink brought in from the restaurant or have tea or anything. Nothing was allowed so you could sit there but not have a drink before dinner anything. The reason given was there are antiques. I have stayed in many beautiful hotels with beautiful antiques 7 the hotels encouraged the guests to enjoy a drink or a pot of tea etc. The lounges are for show only, really bad for a hotel. The staff can reflect this lack of accommodation. Not all but one in particular was quite unhelpful when I asked for help if they had a list of dentists, as I was have a horrible toothache. Her response was no but I could google it & i had to asked for a piece of paper & pen so I could write the name down. She was not in the least helpful & scolded me for me rude when I had told her I was in terrible pain & could use her help.

- Mark (8/5): Beautiful little hotel in downtown Carmel. Location is great and I would stay again when in the area - John Lloyd, General Mgr., is very good. He was more than accomodating. We had a small issue with Room #3 being too warm. He rectified the situation for my next stay there and we were satisfied. The location is great and the style for the hotel is very cool. Be careful with room #3. It is very nice but it's above the boiler room and can be very hot.

It's great to find a boutique hotel with such a comfortable non-old bed - that was a plus! For the price, however, they should provide some amenities: no ice machine, no complimentary tea or cookies in the afternoon, and the evening concierge was slow to help (although the morning concierge was very helpful)

- Sciortino (9/5): Charming, clean and wonderful Victorian decor - Very nice front desk offered and provided immediate support for bringing luggage up to the 3rd floor as a courtesy. We did not even ask...since we have no issues with heavy luggage but were delighted with the customer service. Bellhop was very sweet. The hotel is absolutely charming in its victorian decor--the interior has clearly replaced carpets and the walls and decor were in beautiful clean and restored condition. Shower and tub clean and old fashioned--floor and walls real marble. Very peaceful and quiet. Loved the little chocolates and housekeeping was excellent. Beds are comfortable. While room was immaculate it did have a bit of a scent that was not moldy or musty but did remind one of an older space. I think it would be easy to eliminate this and allow me to emphasize that though I have bad allergies I had zero reactions in this room--there are no dust-mite issues, no mold and no dust in general. The shower water pressure a bit low but this could probably have been remedied if we asked--the spigot in the tub had high water pressure so it is probably a water conservation tab within the shower which is common in California.

- annejN9218AJ (10/5): Exceptional for over 50 years! - The Pine Inn has been a special place for my husband and me since we first stayed there on our Honeymoon in 1972. My siblings gave us a gift certificate for our 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2022 for us to make a return visit. We decided to use their generous gift to celebrate our 75th and 80th birthdays, which are a week apart. Jen and the entire staff took amazing care of us during our two-day stay in the Presidential Suite. Our entire time there was exceptional. Thank you so much to my siblings and to the staff of the Pine Inn for providing us with such a special experience. We also enjoyed two wonderful meals downstairs at Il Fornaio and made a number of fantastic purchases at Diggidy Dog for the grandpup. The Pine Inn is centrally located in Carmel on Ocean Avenue and provides easy access to the best of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

- davidp414 (8/5): Quaint old hotel very clean great location - Lovely quaint old hotel, very clean, but our room was very small, good location has a restaurant attached for breakfast dinner drinks etc, but closes quite early, as most things do in Carmel. There is no elevators in this hotel, so we and others have to drag our cases upstairs, ourselves, although we were offered help. There is a good sized car park at the rear and we were able to get into it, but in season it may be more difficult. We never used the restaurant as there were meant places nearby to try. Would recommend this hotel as location is good and refreshing from the usual boxy new style hotels.

- Courtney (10/5): - The Pine Inn is a historic hotel. For the price we paid and location of the hotel-in the heart of Carmel, it was fine but I would not recommend. Rooms did not have fridges or coffee makers and very few electrical outlets. Biggest complaint was that sheets and towels smelled like wet dog. Cleanliness of carpet at furniture also questionable. No a/c which is uncommon in Carmel but our room was stuffy. Hotel did provide fan which helped. Also, parking is nightmare especially on weekends. We arrived Saturday afternoon and had to find street parking for two hours and then keep checking back until a spot was available on hotel lot.

Great location, limited parking, and some really interesting period pieces for furnishings. Price of anything in Carmel is pretty high, so take $$ in stride. Don't miss their restaurant!

As you can imagine, it has its “creaks & groans”, but it is well worth staying there! It is charming, rooms are clean, the staff is friendly & accommodating & there is a wonderful restaurant attached to meet your needs. You can walk out & easily enjoy the wonders of Carmel by the sea! - SUNIT (4/5): - Not clean as expected, not housekeepers fault but stain carpet, chipped toilet seat and furniture, mold around the bath tub etc. Though the website says enough parking but there was no parking?? When asked the front desk we are told to find the street parking( that we have to move every 2 hours )

What we didn't like was being woken up at 2am by a beetle landing on my ear and then getting into my shirt. There was also no air conditioning in this room.

When I complained to the desk clerk about it, they just told me to take it up with Expedia. My room was on the 3rd floor, no elevator. - kerstin (8/5): Uitstekend qua locatie en hygiene/service en het hotel ziet er fantastisch (klassiek) uit - Het meeste Bed was tamelijk klein en liep af aan 1 kant....vooral dat laatste was wat lastig. De parkeerplaats van het hotel was vol bij aankomst en dat was vervelend (nergens een plekje te vinden in het stadje)

- Koosha (4/5): - It is a great location. They did not service our room, we had to request clean towels and soap. The room was average clean. Limited parking first come first serve, slim possibility to park your car in the hotel parking. Old TV not enough channels. I do not recommend it.

- MsColorado (4/5): Not quiet or practical - Location for walking and restaurants is great. However,we asked for a quiet room and were woken by street sweepers at 5:45 followed by bottle recycling at 6:20 that lasted forever. SO LOUD! Apparently that is an everyday occurence and they were not surprised we wanted to change rooms to the other side of the building. No elevator, fourth floor. Still better than loud. The carpets are pretty worn and our screens on our windows were broken. Downstairs has a lovely area with fireplace but you are not allowed to have drinks or food there so no one uses it. Not a good use of space. Will stay somewhere else next time

- Mary (6/5): Location was great, staff indifferent, not welcoming.frustrated with noise and inconvenience with carpet replacement - Location They were replacing carpets in the hotel from 8 am till 4 pm. We had no prior notice. Very loud banging, messy, hard to get in and out of room. We should have been notified ahead of time. May have stayed somewhere else
- SONIA (3/5): Short not comfortable I know it’s an old building but they should look in remodeling rooms to provide better air quality - Location Stuffy no ventilation asked for a fan and that made the ceiling alarm go off maybe the fan lifted the dust into alarm not sure but this woke me up a couple times we ended up going home around 1am good thing we were a couple hrs away.
- Brad (6/5): - It really needs renovation. The sound from in between the locked door to adjoining room was unacceptable. We could hear conversations in the next room at normal conversation volume. The carpeting in the hallways was stained in multiple places. Shampooing would likely help, but my guess is that the stains have been there for months.

- Melayna (8/5): - Our room was nice, but the hotel didn’t have air conditioning. The carpet is in poor shape and hall is slanted. The whole place could use a little love. The location is perfect, which makes it worth the stay.
- maxinetj (10/5): THE PINE INN EXPERIANCE CARMEL HISTORY AND CHARM - We have been staying at the Pine Inn for 50 years...it is our second home away from home...the oldest hotel in Carmel adds a wonderful bit of Carmel history to the experience... staff always takes great care of us... Il Foirniao is a great restaurant and bar at the Pine...
- Raquel (6/5): - The hotel is very dated. The room smelled like an old man’s room. Bathrooms were clean, but I failed to read that there was no elevator or air-conditioning . Luckily the fan kept us cool but the second room we reserved had no air-conditioning and they could not sleep the windows don’t stay up. It’s so unfortunate. What a great location great restaurant Downstairs can’t they . to change the carpet at least

- Matteo (8/5): Splendido inn nel centro di Carmel by the sea - Interni molto curati con arredamento classico, sembra di vivere nel passato. Posizione assolutamente perfetta. Un frigorifero per l’acqua all’interno della stanza lo avrei apprezzato
- Kimberly (10/5): Car week - Great location, walk to beach or everywhere in town and more! Bed was very comfortable, hotel is old but spacious and parking can be a challenge, they have a parking lot but not enough spots for all guests so a couple of nights we were on the street but it worked out😎
- Pioneer58161848308 (10/5): The best car week ever😎🏎️ - Wonderful location, walk to everything! Very comfortable bed! Parking a little challenging at times but we did choose Carmel car week, which we love! When can we book next year?
- Diana (8/5): - Classic hotel in a convenient location close to everything there is to enjoy in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Only complaints were that rooms don’t have coffee makers and stair carpeting in lobby off Ocean Avenue should be replaced.

- david (2/5): - I go a room with a view of the ocean, but there was construction going on so I couldn’t open my window during the day because I was not comfortable with the construction going on and because of the scaffolding. And the scaffolding was in the way of the view.
