The historic charm of the property really stands out, while still offering all the comfort you’d want for a relaxing trip. Our room was exceptionally clean, very spacious, and comfortable—plenty of room to unwind after a day of exploring. The location is a huge plus. Being right in downtown Luray made it easy to walk to nearby shops and restaurants, and the area was peaceful and quiet, which we really appreciated. It also served as a perfect home base for outdoor activities, sitting just about 15 minutes from Shenandoah National Park. N/A

We were even allowed to check in a few hours early. Beds were comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom were clean and had all we needed. It was very easy to communicate with the hotel staff and they even booked the Caverns tickets for us ! Everything went smoothly

The setting was perfect for our family and for the welcome reception for our out of town guests. The staff was incredibly thoughtful and attentive and even patient with the politics that come with housing a family. On top of that, one of our guests left a suit behind and the hotel stored it until we were back in the area 2 months later

Yelena (9/5): Out of all the options in the area this is the best one. - Central location. Overall spacious hotel interior. Plenty of space in the room. Functional kitchen. Easy check-in. Our room had bathroom sink at 29 inches. Is it for the midgets? Shower head was barely protruding from wall. A nice 8 inch extension would work great. Bathroom exhaust is loud and a more expensive model be great. With so much renovation someone forgot to replace the old single pane windows with thermo insulated ones. The mattress was too soft and bouncy. Thin walls - we heard next room neighbors talking and walking around.

Gloria (9/5): A very lovely space nearby what Luray has to offer. - The check-in process was very easy, and I appreciated the early communication about how to access my room. The room was clean and cozy, and since it was December, the property was very quiet with few visitors. The proximity to Luray Caverns and several nearby food and drink options was also fantastic. The space was clean, though I did notice a couple of stains on the sofa and chair. One seemed recently cleaned while the other looked like it was missed. I didn’t end up using the seating, so it didn’t affect my experience.

Our room was designed with a vintage touch to every part of the room. The hotel itself smells so good when you walk in. We couldn’t ask for more with our room. Everything was there that would make our stay comfortable. The sheets and towels were really soft and great quality. The bed and bedding were super comfortable. The shower was amazing and a big roomy bathroom. We stayed in the room 4. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to the Luray area. Not a thing

Just steps away from Porch and Vine, a new incredible restaurant. There is not a traditional lobby, instead it’s a nice spacious room with coffee and breakfast snacks. The mattress was very soft and didn’t provide lumbar support (I’m not generally a picky sleeper).

Our suite had a quality equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area, including a truly smart TV. The bed was very comfortable and had quality linen and the en-suite bathroom was well presented and had a great shower. The cleanliness of the suite was top notch and the Wi-Fi worked well. We found the location perfect for SNP skyline, only 15mins from the Thornton Gap entrance. Parking at the hotel worked well.

timmU4384GU (10/5): Beautiful Hotel, manager made our trip special! - My wife and I are newly empty nesters and decided to do a little traveling, stopping at Hotel Laurance on our way to my work conference. The town of Luray has all the charm you’d hope for in a small town, but our stay at this hotel stood out as truly exceptional. One unexpected challenge was a bad storm that knocked out the power. We waited it out in our room at first, but as evening fell, we headed out to the back porch, where string lights, rocking chairs, and flowers made for a beautiful setting despite the outage. My wife called the manager, and she responded immediately—showing up, sitting with us, and even offering us a couple of (adult) beverages until the lights returned. That kind of thoughtful, genuine care is rare. To top it off, the hotel extended a discount for the inconvenience, even though it was completely out of their control. Exceptional management all around. Yes, Hotel Laurance may be a little on the pricey side—but once you step inside and see the detail, history, and comfort it offers, you’ll understand why it’s worth it. We’ll absolutely be back, and we’ll be telling our family and friends about this little gem in Luray, VA. The mattress was super comfortable and the shower was spacious with shampoo and body wash provided. Bright, comfortable space within walking distance of many restaurants, cafes, and the Hawksbill Creek Walking Trail. This is very minor, but the bed pillows were bulky, so flat pillow fans may have some adjusting for sleep.
JeepGirl19 (10/5): Beautiful rooms and property - felt like home! - For our visit to the Shenandoah Valley, for hiking and other activities, we decided to not stay in a cabin or something rustic like we typically do in Maine and other places. This was our first time visiting Luray and I was so grateful we found and booked Hotel Laurance! The property is beautiful and super clean. There is free parking and a strong WiFi signal. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and ready with everything we needed for a 5 night stay - full kitchen with dishware/cutlery, an easy to use TV, a large, walk-in shower, and plenty of bathroom towels. The windows are big, the space has high ceilings and the rooms are bright and airy. It felt like a posh downtown apartment in a major city - not a standard hotel. They play relaxing music on the lobby level during the day, which I thought was a nice touch. The keypad lock system on the main entry doors and your room is so easy - no need to worry about carrying hotel key cards! There was a basket with water and snacks in the kitchen and complimentary soaps and shampoo/conditioner in the shower. It was quiet at night (noisy pickup trucks on the street notwithstanding, the hotel can't control that) and the mattress was comfortable. All windows have miniblinds for privacy. We never once took the car to a restaurant or coffee shop/cafe on Main Street - all are walkable from Hotel Laurance. Check out the Hawksbill Greenway, a walking path along the Hawksbill Creek right near the hotel. There is also a very old and revered oak tree up the street from the hotel off S. Court St. Check Google maps and go see it, it's very cool. The pillows were a little bulky to sleep on, but that was the only thing I'd change. Everything else about our stay at this hotel was perfect! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you for making our stay in Luray so nice ❤️

Be advised, there are few, if any, handicap-accessible rooms. Our room had an exterior entrance at the top of a significant flight of stairs with no elevator anywhere.
484destinyc (10/5): Amazing! - After the recent hurricane prevented us from reaching our Airbnb, we were fortunate to discover this delightful hotel nearby. The manager was incredibly accommodating, especially considering we made our reservation late at night. Even though she was already home, she promptly returned to help us, which we truly appreciated. Our room was warm and inviting, featuring an exceptionally comfortable bed. We also loved the thoughtful touches, like the coffee, water, and snacks provided—perfect for late-night cravings when most places were closed. We’ll definitely be returning and can’t wait to share this gem with all our traveling friends!
Mario (9/5): Hotel om Shenandoah te bezoeken. - Het appartement is gezellig en smaakvol ingericht. Het appartement is van alle gemakken voorzien. Naast het gebouw ligt een aparte parkeerplaats. Het ligt niet ver van de ingang van Shenandoah. Niets. Als je al iets te klagen wilt hebben, dan dat er geen lift is en als het appartement op de eerste etage ligt je de koffers de trap moet opdragen.

Navigate40910144139 (10/5): Unexpected Backup Lifesaver - This was very unexpected. My wife and I originally rented a cabin on the mountain for the Fourth of July weekend. And a tree fell, blocking the road to the cabin and knocking out power to the area. So after checking Luray, we found Hotel Laurance. The hotel is amazing meticulously appointed, bespoke rooms, and public areas beyond beautiful and extremely comfortable. The staff were extremely attentive and accommodated us without a reservation. We are definitely looking for excuses to come back to Luray just to stay at Hotel Laurance again.

269diannea (10/5): Remarkable Experience - Wonderful quaint Hotel. My family and I came for a weekend stay and I must say it exceeded our expectations. Our room was very clean and nicely stocked. If we wanted to cook in, we could but we didn't because of all the lovely restaurants in walking distance. The manager there was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the Hotel itself and the surrounding area. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants and things to do which made our stay even more pleasant. I would recommend this boutique hotel to anyone that is going to this area. I'm looking forward to our stay in the fall.

Z1777EYjordank (10/5): Nice Surprise - We recently stayed at this very nice boutique hotel in Luray for a wedding weekend, and it was our first time visiting the area. We were pleasantly surprised by how charming and well-maintained the hotel was. Although the hotel advertises self check-in, we were greeted by the manager upon arrival, who assisted us to our rooms and shared local highlights. We stayed in two suites, the Miranda and the Laura, both of which were surprisingly spacious. Each suite featured a comfortable sitting area and a full kitchen. The rooms were clean and well-appointed, with particularly cozy beds, which is a feature we always look for. Additionally, there was a nice assortment of coffee and tea provided in the rooms. While the hotel does not offer food service, there were several excellent options for breakfast in town. Overall, it's a lovely place to stay if you're visiting Luray.
Urszula (5/5): A decent play to stay but does not live up to the elegant and fancy photos (for the price) - The correspondence with staff before and during check-in was good. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the AC worked perfectly, keeping the rooms cool especially at night but without excessive noise or blasts of air. The room was overpriced for what is was, which was a self-check-in hotel room without any staff or breakfast provided. The rooms were not dark enough at night, with light from the street coming in quite clearly through the blinds (most places provide curtains additionally or blackout curtains). Additionally, for a solo traveler, the key code system made me a bit nervous, not knowing who else might have access to the code. The bathroom had old fixtures in need of maintenance (the sink was low and peeling, and the bathtub had a rust stain that made me uncomfortable to use it). Finally, the hotel is at an intersection in the middle of Luray, so you can hear pick-up truck engines and garbage trucks from the early morning.

G1195WOjessicas (10/5): Very nice stay at Hotel Laurance - We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Laurance while passing through the Shenandoah area. The hotel exudes a charming historic feel, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our room. It was spacious, like a suite, with a homey atmosphere, a full kitchen, and comfortable beds. The room was clean and well-appointed. The self-check-in process was convenient, especially since we arrived late. The hotel was quiet, and we only saw one other couple during our stay. Luray is a small town with limited options for late-night meals, so we brought some food and made use of the kitchen, which was perfect for our needs. We will definitely stay at Hotel Laurance again when we are in the area.

Y4617XOjessicah (10/5): Anniversary Weekend at Hotel Laurance - My partner and I chose Hotel Laurance to celebrate our anniversary over Memorial Day weekend. As residents of Virginia, we were looking for a nearby getaway and were captivated by the charm of Luray. Hotel Laurance, a lovely boutique hotel, is ideally located on the main street, within easy walking distance of delightful restaurants, quaint shops, a local brewery, and a movie theater. The hotel's convenient location allowed us to explore the best of what Luray has to offer without the need for long drives. We stayed in Room Seven, which is situated on the first floor exterior facing Main Street, offering a nice level of privacy. Although some reviews mentioned noise issues, we found the street noise to be minimal and not bothersome, especially after hours. The room itself was delightful, featuring a very comfortable king-size bed. The bedroom was snug yet cozy, complemented by a charming sitting area with cable TV and excellent WiFi. The kitchen area was well-equipped with all the essentials, including a coffee maker, stove, microwave, and refrigerator. The bathroom, though lacking a tub, had a nice shower and provided high-quality toiletries. Overall, it was a wonderful stay for our anniversary. The combination of the hotel's charm, comfort, and convenient location made it a perfect choice for our celebration. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Hotel Laurance and are already looking forward to our next visit to Luray.

Dieter (6/5): Einmal und nie wieder!!! - Lage zentral Extrem teuer für die Leistung. Kein Frühstück!! Küchenausstatung unvollständig -Geschirr u. Besteck, kein Korkrnzieher. Viele Treppen, kein Aufzug -für Handikaps völlig ungeeignet; aber keine Angaben dazu in der Beschreibung.
Ruth (7/5): - Frühstück gab es nicht, darum musste man sich selbst kümmern. Das war aber vorher bekannt. Um die Ecke gibt es ein kleines Café. Man hätte uns nicht vor der Tür warten lassen müssen (Putzfrau), wenn man uns gleich gesagt hätte, dass man ab 15.00 Uhr den Code für die Wohnungstür online erhält. Wir hätten am Vormittag schon eine Wanderung machen können, so war der Tag ziemlich vergeudet, weil wir auf den Schlüssel gewartet haben. Am frühen Nachmittag kam dann die Mitteilung, dass wir den Code ab drei Uhr online erhalten. Ich hatte am Tag zuvor schon angefragt, wie wir die Schlüsselübergabe handhaben können, da wir auch eine längere Anfahrt hatten, da habe ich keine Rückmeldung der Vermieterin bekommen. Das war für uns sehr ärgerlich. Die Ferienwohnung selbst war sehr schön. Außer dem Putzfrau, die wir zufällig noch getroffen haben, ist niemand persönlich mit uns in Kontakt getreten.
