Guest Reviews
- Tammy (6/5): - The internet didn’t work and the tv didn’t work. Very frustrating.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Although there is some obvious wear and tear, the condo itself was clean enough. My issue, however is with the lack of care demonstrated by the host. After prepaying and confirming my booking, Hotels.com sent me an email reminding me to get in contact with the hosts so that we can arrange the key exchange. I texted the host around 12pm 3 days before my booking. As evident in the screenshot, my text went unanswered. After almost 30 hours, I decided to call the host. The woman who picked up acknowledged that she had seen my text but was incredibly busy managing multiple properties. Huh? Then, she claimed to have sent out an automated email explaining the key exchange. However, I never received any such email and when I asked her to send it to another email, she became unresponsive again. After a few hours, I sent a follow up text asking her to get back to me; I even explained that my two friends would be driving in from out of province so I needed details so as to update them. I called again two hours later as my text had gone unanswered (mind you this is the night before my booking). This time a man picked up and said he’d be meeting me for the key exchange. But an hour before our meetup, he texted that he was unable to meet me and that the keys would be left in a drawer. When I asked if there was parking on site and for the wifi password, I was again met with silence. Only until 9:29 on the morning of my 11am checkout did they give me the password for the wifi they advertised
- shoura (2/5): It was horrible very uncomfortable bed & sofa. - The Furniture was told there was no bed frame and the mattress was on the floor dirty. I was in barest front of my husband because I was Devon who made the reservation.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Apart from checking in issues due to no front deck : it was good .
Needs a lot of improvement as well .
- James M. (8/5): We will return - The condo was new and in good condition. Although right next to the train tracks we did not get disturbed at all as the sound proofing is excellent. Neither did we get disturbed by any other units.
It was the perfect location for us as we were visiting our son who lives nearby.
There were a few items missing from the kitchen that we needed to cook with but on request we were able to solve this problem easily.
We didn’t have a car and used local transit with ease. There is two foods stores very close and a wide range of restaurants and coffee shops.
- Carole (8/5): Great location - The apt. was nice, clean and comfortable. Everything was just fine. Other than there were no hand towels, facecloths etc. Otherwise I would totally recommend this property. Location was great!
- Amanda (10/5): - Great place. Big enough for a couple of people. Clean.
Maybe provide some dish soap for guests to wash dishes- that’s really my only complaint. Definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Small but nice suite. Not too far from downtown- we did walk it.
- Andy (6/5): - We were not at the address advertised. We were taken to a nearby building without much explanation.
We actually stayed at Minowan Milikan Lane not 8 Gladstone as advertised.
We were also disturbed by the cleaner picking up her personal washing.
- Verified traveler (2/5): SCAM! - Stay away! It's a scam for poorly run AirBnB's. It isn't a hotel, its a suite style apartment complex. When I walked in to the room, I immediately noticed holes in ceiling and in bathroom. The bed had hair and stains on it. DISGUSTING! In the bathroom, the ceiling light was missing leaving the electrical wire exposed.
- Niels (4/5): It is not a hotel - It is not a hotel - it is an private Apartment and we were told, that it is not legal to rent it.
There is great view from the balcony. In general the apartment appears to be worn. It has som damages e.g. some og the power outlet did not Work and the Electric kettle did not Work.
- Sonia (6/5): Great location but room needs some TLC - Some very important things are missing or needs to be updated. Clean or replace the dirty area carpet, paint the marked up walls, hang a picture or two, the bathroom needs towel racks in the bathroom, hand towels and soap or body wash replenished, softer bath towels and the bed squeaks much too much.
- Deborah (10/5): Great place to stay - Very comfortable, clean and convenient. The customer service was excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean, confortable S/W accomodations - Offered a great night's rest in a clean, comfortable, quiet, safe environment.
- John (8/5): - Awesome location right next to eclectic shopping and Foodie destinations throughout the Ossington / Queen / Dundas West areas. Great place chill between shopping and dining, and then retire for the evening with a beautiful city view off the private balcony at night. Quiet building with two grocery stores (inclusive of wine/beer sales) and poured coffee right at street level. Metered underground parking too. Basically everything you could want for an awesome couples getaway in Toronto or for the business traveller looking for a base of operations that is clear of the traffic madness in the core.
- Angie (10/5): Great Stay!! - Honestly, before hand, i was a little concered about how my stay was gunna be considering all the negative reviews; but once we got there I was very happy with what i saw. I stayed here for my 22nd birthday for one night and it was a great experience. The owners let me check in early which was very helpful! The check in process was quick and easy. The apartment was nice and clean and had everything we needed! Plus the view was amazing!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location, nice building, NOT clean - Firstly, this is NOT a hotel, it’s a condo that’s rented out by a company called Life Suites. You have to arrange to meet someone to get the key and you’re not allowed to approach the front desk at all. The building is quite nice, and the gym is great. The condo is okay, but not clean. There was makeup on the pillow cases and hairs everywhere, on the towels as well. Thankfully there’s a washer & dryer in the condo, I had to wash the sheets & towels before I used them. There are no cleaning services during the stay, they’re supposed to clean before you arrive and after you leave. They ask that you take all the garbage to the garbage shoot before leaving. It’s somewhat questionable as to whether or not the building is aware that the condo is being rented.
- Serena (6/5): Nice building - suite is spacious - I did not realize this was a bring your own blanket hotel suite? There was no blanket anywhere. Only pillows and towels.
Have never had that happen before and was a residential building so not like a hotel front desk you could ask.
Was the only real issue.
- Jess (6/5): Relatively clean, warm and inviting. - No complaints, aside from having difficulty with remote function for television services and YouTube broadcasting.
It was very quiet and boring as a result.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice clean condo in central location - Nice, clean condo in central location.
- Cristian (10/5): - Great room would recomend it, nice and quiet, place looks like photos.
- Verified traveler (4/5): confusing checkin and very strong cleaning smell - checkin person did not seem to know what he was doing.
very strong cleaning smell. was unable to stay in the unit.
my money was refunded
- Verified traveler (8/5): Well located - The room was clean, and staff were very ready to respond to emails and phone calls. This was essentially a very basic suite, good for one or two people in Toronto for a conference. Easy to get to the Exhibition (Route 29 bus).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The apartment was easy to find; associate came at exact time which I specified in my e-mail. Apartment was clean, comfortable and Wi-fi worked fine.
Would stay here again.
- Andrew (10/5): Gladstone Suites Toronto Central - This was a great place to stay. Instructions for getting in were very easy. There were 2 grocery stores (1 on the same block, anotger directly across the street). It was very easy to grab a few staples to have on hand. Plenty of restaurants, shops, and bars in yhe vicinity. Seemed like a very safe neighborhood. I was attending a conference downtown, and used public transit every day--easy to access and use. It was about 25 minutes to get downtown from here. I would stay here again and I recommend this to anyone.
- shanae (10/5): Nice condo close to everything - I stayed at this location for my birthday and it was a wonderful experience we have a pleasant and comfortable stay. It was close to everything located in a perfect spot downtown.
I would refer other to this hotel.
Thank you
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pictures are deceiving in terms of actual room size and condition. Individual still inside the room cleaning and making them self food when we went up following check-in? 15 minute ride to DT Toronto.
- Shirley (8/5): Nice condo in a great spot - Remember people this is not a hotel but a condo. You have to meet a person with a key. Make sure you inquire about parking. First day we did metered parking next to the metro supermarket bc we did not know. But we lucked out with finding free parking on Gladstone Ave. There's a nice amenities room on the 3rd fl and gym was on the 4th fl that pretty much has basic equipment. Room was cool but it was not same as we saw in the pic. Personnel answered phone with any questions or concerns. Sometime you would have to call more than once. Again this is not a hotel. Area was really cool with lots of shops, supermarket and wine shop just outside the premises. 40-45 min walk to CN Tower, Toronto stadium and aquarium. Overall stay I give it a 4.
- thomas (10/5): Gladstone - We booked the room for the weekend and we had a blast! the room has an incredible view of Downtown Toronto and the CN Tower there are a lot of very different restaurants within walking distance! it is close to everything by car usually a 15 min or less drive . The room is very nice clean kitchen is great. there is a Metro grocery store right downstairs where you can get any food or drink for your stay! Will definitely book again
- Bryan (4/5): Uninspired & Disappointed - This was by far the most disappointing accommodations I have ever stayed in. The room was small, sparsely furnished, and several things were in much need of repair OR replacement. This place definitely is need of TLC and upgrading (i.e. Even a coat of paint would help)...The value for the money was overpriced and disappointing. The parking was very confusing for a first time first. The management was not where to be found for assitance. We made one call to voice our concerns, but nothing was done to remedy our concerns (just three of some of the issues were screen door on patio was off because was broken, broken cupboard door and no instructions for operating the AC). Room was not particularly clean...was passable....will not stay here again and will ensure that I tell others as well. Please note had someone addressed our concerns or made an attempt to contact us, this may helped our stay,
Thanks!
Bryan Youngson
- Nicole (10/5): Awesome place! - Super nice condo! I would definitely stay here again!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not an actual hotel - I didn't realize that the room is in a private residence, specifically a condo that's not quite complete. The listing does mention that the building has no front desk. However, the listing doesn't mention that you need to contact someone ahead of time and meet with them.
I take blame for not reading the listing more carefully or the follow-up email, but being puzzled, I haven't even been past the lobby. You might as well go to the Gladstone Hotel across the street.
- donhojr (8/5): Nice condo hotel. Reasonably close to amenities - Comfortable place to stay. Pretty well a brand new condo complex.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Wasn't aware this wasn't a hotel when I booked. Room was OK. Cleanliness was not great. No TV in the bedroom, no hair dryer, left over food in the freezer. 1 elevator broken and the other was being used for moving one of the days meaning you had to wait 10-15 minutes to get to your room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): This is a condo not a "suite hotel" - No check-in desk. Got bad instructions on how to find the place and parking. Address provided was Gladstone, but entrance was actually in a laneway behind. Was told to park on level P3 but no signage indicated how to get down to P3. Drove round and round and ended up back outside. Finally noticed an unmarked garage door.
Was given a code to punch in to access building and told not to talk to the concierge. Code did not work. Finally snuck in behind someone else. It took me about 40 minutes to finally get to my room.
Bed was just a mattress on the bed frame, no box spring. No wash cloth, just towels.
This is like a B&B with no breakfast. Not a suites hotel that I thought it was. No staff whatsoever
Also got charged a $53 "property fee" on top of the advertised price.
- Donna (6/5): Convenient - The condo is very basic, no extras, kitchen just adequately stocked, no pots or pans, I would rate it 3*
- MARK (8/5): Hits the spot for a stay in town - I've stayed at their suites a number of times and they're very convenient. Having a one bedroom place with a kitchen and washer+dryer right in the suite is extremely handy for a week-long stay in town for work.
- Dublin (8/5): - Great view, very central easy access to downtown Toronto
- Thomas (8/5): A Few Bumps but a Great Stay! - We booked this suite as it was located fairly close to all of the attractions we wanted to see and it had a kitchen. When we met to get our key he didn't have the parking garage that we had reserved. He let us into the suite while he went back for it and took him almost 40 minutes to return. Once in the room there were no toiletries (just toilet paper and paper towels) and the light in the living room was missing a bulb. The staff sent us an e-mail asking how our check in had gone and we mentioned these items, they said they would be by first thing in the morning.
The next morning, an hour or so after we agreed they should stop by, they came by and replaced the bulb but brought more paper towels and toilet paper. They did drop off an assortment of Starbucks pastries which was nice. They did go out and get soap, shampoo and conditioner while we were out that day and left a nice fruit platter which was nice after a long day site-seeing.
The suite itself was nice and clean, with a nice sitting area with a large TV. The kitchen was stocked with pots, pans, plates, silverware, and glasses. The fridge was plenty large for our needs. An oddity was the lack of adequate curtains on the windows, as there weren't enough to completely close them, though the view was incredible. Parts of the suite felt unfinished, no towel racks, the balcony floor wasn't finished but nit-picks aside it otherwise was an amazing place to stay!
We would definitely stay here again!
- michel (6/5): Good and quiet - On arrival, we had a problem with the access to our parking reservation. It took more than an hour to obtain the garage opener. Easy and close commuting service access on Queen St. Has for the apartment itself, it was good.
- Raven (10/5): Wonderful Experience! - Condo is just as the pictures appear, very clean, comfortable and in a great location! Staff was very helpful and easy to get ahold of. Our stay was great and would stay again in the future!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy place - Our stay at the Gladstone suite was beyond our expectation. The place was clean, comfortable and felt home. The suite has washer and dryer, iron, pans and dishes. The locations is really accessible to public transportation and a super market across the street. Definitely going to stay here again.Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place...a lovely view of the CN Tower! - Our stay was problem-free. The place was clean and suited our needs nicely. We were able to get checked-in without issue and the staff was quick to respond to our questions. Everything we needed was available in the room (except a bar of soap) which was no big deal since there is a Freshco grocery store directly across the street which we could easily visit to buy the bits and pieces we needed (like snacks, breakfast items, etc).
The only issues we had were we could not figure out how to use the television system (we could only watch Netflix) and the lack of blinds on the windows (since both the bedroom and living room have eastern exposures...made for very early and bright mornings).
- MB (8/5): Interesting Start, but Worth The Price & Location - Was very skeptical at first. Received a personal email after the booking from a person with no title or last name, and from booking to check-in we must have spoke with 5 different people. When we were told to meet at a grocery store to pickup the keys, I got really skeptical. ...Fully expected to be mugged. The staff, while very friendly, needs to work on introductions and check-in.
Truth is that it is really a nice grouping of condo rentals. The unit was tidy and came with a kitchen, large flat-screen, leather sectional, and size-able balcony. Very comfortable place. The tv had netflix, and roku or something similar pre-programmed - great for watching movies on the nights we didnt go out. Unit has a large washer/dryer. Nice a/c.
Lots of bars and restaurants in the area - so plenty to do near the hotel. The grocery store across the street, while it doesnt sell wine, was very convenient.
Cons: Not sure if bedding was washed prior to our stay (There was ice cream from previous stay in the fridge.) Frying pan in kitchen was a little scary looking - wouldnt have used it if we wanted to cook in the kitchen.
Check out was easy. Very safe area. Building and Unit were very quiet. Would stay there again. In all honesty, it is a condo that is being rented and not a hotel, so if you go in with that in-mind, then you'll have a fantastic stay.
- MARK (8/5): Fits the bill nicely for Queen W / Liberty Village - Nice one bedroom condo that fits the bill for work near the Liberty Village area. Anna & Jonathan strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Works really nicely for me whenever I'm in town for work.
- John (4/5): Nice room, but.... - Nice room. Unfortunately for 24 hours there was no wifi and therefore no TV. Also, the building is still under construction. Nice neighborhood with cool shops and bars.
- Joe (8/5): A little distant from "central" Toronto - Overall good experience besides the construction crew waking me up at 8am. The building isn't finished being built so the complex is a mess and it's hard to even find the entrance
- MARK (8/5): Nice small condo for brief visits - Note that it's a suite in a condo rather than a hotel, so as long as you're fine with that, it'll work for you. Nice to have a small kitchen to prepare / store food instead of always having to buy food at a hotel.
- Larry (10/5): sweet suite room - Awesome, great security and close to main streets. Was perfect for the event and we were generally loud yet no complaints
