Guest Reviews
- terrence (10/5): Good retreat from hustle and bustle. - Close to Kingston and Hwy 87, thus convenient. Friendly host(s), a very pleasant stay. We were okay with no cell phone reception or TV because the wifi was fine, and we enjoyed this quiet getaway. Breakfast was tasty, artisan bread, large portions of fresh fruit. Restful and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - peaceful, simple & elegant room, great breakfast, nice host (low key)
- Andrew (10/5): Stay here! - What a lovely, lovely spot, host, breakfast, bed and "family room" to hang out. I'll be back with my husband.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The home has a significant history, and does the arra
- Joanne (10/5): Weekend getaway - Owner was very friendly and accommodating, room was clean with a beautiful view of the Esopus and breakfast was delicious and bountiful
- Igor (4/5): - It's a potentially pretty property but it needs considerable work and daily attention. The owners were away and left it in the hands, one day, of a neighbor, who did her honorable best, and the other day in the hands of someone engaged for the purpose, who was inattentive and indifferent. If one cannot cover properly for a period of absence, one ought to close for that period. The condition of the house and the quality of the decoration are so-so at best. One can wish the owners well, and that they will invest in their property. Until then, there will be better choices.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Authentic Stonehouse! Canopy bed, claw foot bathtub, Fresh cut flowers.
Beautiful, peaceful grounds with nearby creek
Enjoyed our picnic dinner on the porch. Coffee, herb teas, sparkling water & biscotti.
Delicious homemade breakfast of smoked salmon eggs, granola, breads & fruit preserves, fresh fruit.
- Sunshine (10/5): - We really enjoyed our experience!
We stayed in the Girl with the Peral Earring room which included its own private bathroom along with a beautiful canopy bed, working tv and a complimentary bottle of palegrino.
The breakfast was very enjoyable- yogurt with fresh fruit and strawberries, coffee juice, bacon, 2 small pancakes and homemade bread with jams.
My wi-fi did not work but we only stayed for 1 night.
The jacuzzi tub is not really that but a bathtub with super loud jets. The facilities were nice and new.the sink faucet is too far away from the sink bowl and had to be used in full throttle for it not to make a mess.
I would recommend staying here for the price. The owners and cat were all very sweet and accommodating. I slept wonderfully in the bed but my husband said his back hurt him.
- Jane L (10/5): charming - Sam was an excellent host. We enjoyed our stay and recommend this bed-and-breakfast highly. It’s charming and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It's a gorgeous old building with a lot of character.
- Shaun (10/5): - It was our first time at a bed and breakfast, and it was perfect!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was super quiet. Service was great. Breakfast was nice. The place was super clean.
- Clary (10/5): Wonderful stay! - Amazing home with a lot of history and it’s curated very well. Loved the host and the experience. Great breakfast too.
- JW (10/5): - Great location! Beautiful room and a warm welcoming common room Excellent breakfast. Attentive staff. One small improvement might be to add some basic toiletries to the bathroom in addition to shampoo and shower gel.
- Kristy (10/5): nice getaway with the hubby. - The stay was really nice. The rooms were like stepping back in time (in a good way). The rooms were clean. The host was very pleasant and helpful. He made a very nice breakfast. His homeade bread was delicous! The Inn is in a nice centralized location to explore surrounding towns and attractions. You will have to drive everywhere though. Overall I was happy with our stay, but I would have added some seating outside to enjoy the view and weather. Adirondack chairs outisde the Groote Kramer room would have been a nice touch. The mattress could also use some updating. For one night it was ok, but by the second my back was aching. I recommend staying here :)
- Bruce (10/5): Impressive - Great service
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely place. Went there a second time as we like the rooms and the whole atmosphere.
- Michelle (8/5): Refreshingly unique stay - The Stone House is an incredible opportunity to stay in what may be the oldest lodging house in America. The proprietors provide you with an incomparable home-made breakfast and an experience that is truly unique.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was overall a very nice place, comfortable, clean and friendly. It could use a couple of upgrades, bedding(mattress) as well as hot water capacity
- Verified traveler (8/5): A very lovely old inn. - Innkeeper Sam was very accommodated. Housekeeper Barbara very efficient and friendly. Breakfast very good. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A beautiful house, beautifully maintained. Quiet location. Sam, the owner, is helpful and open to talking about the history of the property. I’ve already recommended it to several friends! Hope to get back there again.
- Justin (10/5): - Excellent experience from the very moment we arrived. Sam was extremely helpful with showing us around his beautiful B&B, asked when we would like to enjoy breakfast in the morning and was very helpful in finding a place to have dinner that evening. Breakfast was excellent and very fresh (egg bake, homemade breads, coffee, OJ, etc). The entire place was very clean and inviting. Very clean bedroom and bathroom. We hope to return soon, however for a longer stay. Thanks!
- Leo (10/5): - This place was great. Cozy and old in a good way. The host was very nice and genuine. The room we picked had its own driveway and own entrance which was pretty cool. Worth every dollar.
No complaints but just an issue. Not the end of the world. Breakfast was at 9am (perfect) but they served eggs mushrooms frittata. I don’t eat eggs and when they just served it without a choice I was surprised. I guess I expected them to ask or give a choice. Other wise it was a great location.
- Charles (10/5): Perfect hosts. - We had intended to stay in a different Inn but it was booked. We found the Stone Inn on hotels.com and loved it! Nadia and Sam were the perfect hosts and the room was comfy with a wonderful king size bed. Breakfast was great.
- Patrick (10/5): - Nice place
Nice owners
Enjoyed the stay
Great breakfast
- Elizabeth (8/5): - We enjoyed the opportunity to stay in this lovely stone house that displays many of the fine features of others in the region. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast included delicious homemade granola, bread and an egg dish. It was a hearty start for the day. The owners were happy to accommodate our schedules and make our visit a happy one.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a fantastic B&B. We loved how historic it was, the proximity to great restaurants and the fabulous full breakfast. We met other travelers over breakfast and enjoyed their company. The hosts couldn't have been friendlier.
- faten (10/5): more than I expected to - an old stone house, authentic, the room is good equipment. every thing is with a meaning, a beautiful area and relax, near the river ,
homemade breakfast is delicious. excellent service. I really recommend this place
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Stay - Friendly welcome. Easy check-in and check-out. We stayed in the lacemake room and the bed was amazingly comfortable.
- Elisabeth (10/5): Historic house with charm & modern conveniences - The Stone House Bed & Breakfast is lovely, comfortable and well-run. It's got only six guest rooms, two with king beds and four queens, but each room has its own bathroom. The breakfast was tasty and generous, with fresh fruit, frittata, homemade bread and granola. I'd gladly stay at the Stone House again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely b&b,great staff, who paid lots of attention to homemade breakfast. Some eggs or other protein at breakfast would have been great.
- Lloyd (8/5): - Quaint, historical location
Super friendly people and very cozy
- Susie (10/5): Perfect spot for romantic weekend. - Charming B&B in a beautiful location. Wonderful host; lovely public area with books and
magazines about the area. Good breakfast with very good baked goods. Cannot wait to return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not too far from the sites in Kingston, yet in the countryside.
- Jon (8/5): - breakfast was poor except for the bread and granola cereal;
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A relaxing stay. Wonderful innkeepers
- Bryant (10/5): Just what we were looking for! - A historic house, very thoughtfully appointed and furnished rooms and common areas. Unpretentious, beautifully sited above the Esopus Creek.
- Maureen (8/5): Cozy historic cottage - We loved knowing that the cottage is more than 300 years old. Our room was so cozy and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Sam was a perfect host and served a yummy breakfast.
- Caitlin (10/5): Hidden gem - Had a great stay at the cozy bed and breakfast. Host was very flexible about check in, room was clean, breakfast was great.
- Phyllis (10/5): Loves it 💕 - I loved the bed in breakfast. It was very beautiful. It was also very convenient. Sam was a lovely man very welcoming. Will stay there again.
- Betty (10/5): Historic and comfortable ambience - We liked it very much. Will go there again.
- Christine (10/5): - Beautiful home, lovely accommodations, perfect hosts and amazing location!
- N (10/5): - Great stay at this charming B&B. It offers lovely views of the Esopus Creek which you can easily get closer to via a little trail. The breakfast was absolutely delectable, and the owners have a wealth of knowledge about the area. The rooms are clean and charmingly furnished. The weekend we stayed was VERY cold, but we couldn't tell in our room which was nice and toasty :) High recommended!
- Penelope (10/5): - Located in a scenic spot but close to restaurants, etc. Conveniently located to Dutchess County Fairgrounds - an easy 20 min ride. Beautiful items in the house, elegantly themed. Friendly cat on the grounds (not allowed in guest portion of the house).
- Lynn (8/5): Visit to the Hudson Valley - I loved it and would go back - I love history and the house is an old stone house and they have left many of the floors and stone walls in tack. The innkeeper was very nice! The bed was so comfortable I could have slept all!
- Charles (10/5): Blue Jays Game - Check in was real slow so they offered us a drink chit as an acknowledgement. Nice but after we ordered a vodka and went to pay we were told only "local" drinks were eligible. Kinda cheap for no reason.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Our first true bed and breakfast experience. Quiet location. Gracious hosts and a friendly cat who greeted us outside whenever we came back to the house. Convenient location such as a nice boat trip on the Hudson and dinner on a deck on the water.
- Paula (10/5): Gorgeous! - Beautiful place! Great breakfast. Incredibly clean. Our bed was slightly problematic as it made a tremendous amount of noise just moving slightly in it.
- Timothy (10/5): Great B&B - My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Stone House B&B! Breakfast was wonderful and the hosts were great.
- Wendy (10/5): Historic welcoming and comfortable - Interesting colonial building, great area, welcoming hosts and delicious breakfast included in the cost made this an enjoyable stay
