- Michael (2/5): - Be very careful the property is not maintained and the outside area is extremely dirty . The pool was so murky you couldn’t see the bottom , the staff blamed the wind but it was certainly a lot more than wind causing the dirt and debris around the property . Maintenance is a major problem for them . The manager cindy promised a refund for our last night when we decided to check out early due to the problems, two months later I am still waiting . There is plenty more Places to chose from , I would avoid this place at all cost

This little gem is a clean and well cared for property, the pool was great for cooling off after a hot day. The managers were welcoming and very helpful. Breakfasts were delicious, large selection of foods and hot breakfast items.

- Laura (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at Ashbourne Guest House! Courtney and Cindy greeted us with a glass of wine and made us feel at home right away. The room was very spacious and clean. The fridge was stocked with many different choices and there were snacks available in the room too (both for purchase). Breakfast in the morning is freshly made baked goods, fruits, meats, cheeses and a full hot menu to choose from (including dim sum of all things!). The B&B is walking distance to both the main street and the wine tram. It’s safe at night and load shedding wasn’t an issue as they have generators. We stayed in the poolside room and would recommend anyone stay there. It’s a very peaceful and quiet B&B.

The staff was so lovely and friendly, helped with reservations and recommendations for the area. The laid out breakfast was fantastic too. Comfy and cosy beds - we could have stayed in there nice and warm for ages!

The location is on a quiet street but still very close to the main street in town. The staff was very helpful and the owner present on site. He was able to give us advice on a nice wine farm walking tour and suggestions for travel to our next stop. We indefinitely will stay here again on our next trip to Franschhoek.
- Kate (10/5): Stunning guest house with amazing service - Amazing place to stay, rooms are beautifully decorated with art and furniture. The personal level of service was exceptional, this was our favourite place to stay on our 2 week trip in SA. The guest house is perfectly located a brief 5 min walk from the town, which has lots of lovely independent restaurants and shops. We have already recommended to friends and family, and will definitely be back!

The breakfasts served on the Terrace are amazing. Tim and his wife couldnt be more welcoming. A lazy afternoon round the pool was greatly appreciated and we were brought complimentary glass of wine. Nice touch.

There was a hiccup on check in as the room we had booked was occupied, however the staff were quick to show us what other rooms were available, including offering to upgrade. We picked a room by the pool which was fresh and spacious. The pool area was beautiful and has a view to the mountains! Breakfast was excellent with a cold buffet and hot options made to order. Easy and quick to walk into the centre of Franschhoek. We would definitely stay here again!

The staff and owners were lovely, very helpful and friendly. The pool area and garden were well kept with ample parking. Breakfast was lovely on the porch with a wide selection and delicious omelettes. i would highly recommend and will stay again.

Really friendly hosts, relaxed and had a nice chat, lots of information at hand if you need it, none of it is foisted on you if you don't. Offered a glass of wine by the pool which was a lovely touch. Honesty bar in the room. Beautiful pool area - even better than the photographs. Breakfast was excellent. Our only regret is we only stayed one night, we wished we could have stayed longer.

- Mandeep (6/5): Relax Tim! - Franschhoek itself was beautiful, stunning scenery and a really relaxed place. Our upstairs room at Ashbourne House was lovely and the staff were friendly, however we did not appreciate being ‘told off’ by the owner Tim for missing a dinner reservation - it was not intentional, it was our anniversary (they didn’t even acknowledge it despite being told on booking) and we were doing the wine tram (enough said), that made us feel quite uncomfortable for the rest of our stay. The milk in the room fridge was off and not replaced the whole stay and stank (looked more like bubbling yoghurt). The ‘designer’ toiletries were really not designer at all and the same disfigured plastic bottle was filled each day. The place was comfortable though and the breakfast was adequate and there was a log fire burning in the breakfast room which was nice. Some of the guests had their cars broken into while parked there, so something to be aware of if you are driving.

Perfect location on a quiet side street a couple of minutes walk from the main street in Franschoek, and a short drive from all the wineries. Pleasant staff and owners, great breakfast on the porch with a beautiful view. Excellent. Wish we had stayed longer.
- Barbara (10/5): Beautiful characterful home in Franschhoek village - An absolutely beautiful guesthouse with generous and luxurious rooms. The attention to detail and generosity of the owners and their staff really stood out - from free gourmet chocolates, home made cakes and fresh coffee in the room to advice and help booking restaurants and wine lands tours. The breakfast is excellent too - I loved my smoked trout scrambled eggs on the patio. Just make sure you arrive by 6pm...we didn’t realise reception closed and kept the lovely staff waiting and felt bad!

The German owner/managers are not only highly efficient but show a real interest in ensuring their guests make the most of their time in Franschhoeck. Our room was by the pool which meant that it could be a bit noisy at times from other guests so if you want peace and quiet, then ask for a room away from the pool area.
