Fabulous food and flexible menus. Lovely swimming pool and surroundings. Great lookout tower with comfy chairs looking over the waterhole. Exciting game drives with some incredible wildlife sightings and extremely knowledgeable guide Ricardo. All of this wrapped up in a family friendly environment with a team of staff who make Xanatseni a ‘Home from Home’ made this an unforgettable 4 night stay . Nothing needed improving in our opinion.
• Ellie (10/5): 10/10 would recommend! - Manicured grounds, quiet setting, lovely pool, spacious rooms and common areas. Only 45 mins from Hoedspruit airport. Our guide Bryony and tracker Prince were so knowledgable and passionate. Tineal was such a warm, welcoming host. Our bedrooms were tidied and beds made twice a day. Lots of beautiful food. We saw so many animals from warthogs to leopards! Would recommend this stay to anyone. The food was lovely and great variety but I would’ve loved to try some different game and bush meat e.g. ostrich/impala. Also an outdoor shower by the pool would be super handy.

La chance d'avoir eut deux game drive en solo avec un guide et un ranger plus que sympathiques et professionnels qui ont partagés mon intérêt pour tous les minis 500 (oiseaux, insectes, fleurs...). Nourriture délicieuse. Devoir repartir.

• Adriaan (10/5): TOP verblijf met fantastische mensen! - Als je hier boekt en aankomt word je direct opgenomen in de familie. Van begin tot eind van je verblijf merk je dat er alles aan wordt gedaan om het naar je zin te maken. De kamer is fantastisch: schoon, recent gerenoveerd, modern en van alle gemakken voorzien. De maaltijden zijn overheerlijk! Je eet samen met alle gasten aan een tafel en er sluit ook altijd iemand van het personeel aan. De lunch en het diner wordt afgesloten met een toetje, en er is genoeg voor iedereen. En dan; de inbegrepen game drives. Onze driver Dani zette alles op alles om ervoor te zorgen dat wij zoveel mogelijk dieren konden spotten. Ze wist ontzettend veel over de dieren en de natuur te vertellen, wat heel interessant was! Op onze laatste avond hadden we een Hyena die tijdens het diner binnen kwam lopen. Ook hoorden we veel dierengeluiden in de nabije omgeving, wat ervoor zorgde dat Dani ons meenam op een extra night drive. Echt su-per gaaf. Ik kan iedereen deze accommodatie aanraden! Alles was perfect!
• Nicole (8/5): Lovely lodge - The rooms are very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. A/C too. No issues getting to the site from the gate, most is tarred road, just the last 10-15 minutes are dirt. Dani was a lovely host. Our guide, Ricardo was good. Food was excellent. It's an intimate camp, so you all dine together. Since we only had one drive (which was excellent - wild dogs, rhino, lions), I can't give an educated opinion on the reserve. Unfortunately, we only had 1 night and missed out on a morning drive due to an overnight storm. This wasn't communicated well to all guests. I feel we still could have had a shorter drive later in the morning as the rained had stopped by 5am, but that didn't seem to be an option. Since they had floods recently, I feel they were just being over cautious. Out of hundreds of drives over the years, this is the first time ever we've missed a drive.

• marjan (10/5): Geweldige kleinschalige accommodatie met uitstekende game drives - Geweldige game drives met Ricardo die heel veel dieren wist te vinden maar er ook veel kon over vertellen. De lodge is fantastisch mooi, heel ruim. Kleinschalig en daardoor ook heel persoonlijk. Je voelt je er echt welkom Het eten was echt lekker maar we hadden er meer van verwacht met wat verfijndere producten (gezien de prijs van de accommodatie)

Le safari est d’excellente qualité, avec une équipe passionnée qui prend le temps d’expliquer le comportement des animaux. Les repas sont variés, raffinés et savoureux. De délicates attentions, comme les plaids et les bouillottes dans les véhicules, rendent l’expérience encore plus agréable. Les équipements sont impeccables, avec un confort exceptionnel (le lit est un véritable cocon !). Nous recommandons vivement et reviendrons avec grand plaisir. Absolument rien à redire : tout était parfait. Après avoir testé trois lodges, celle-ci se démarque largement comme la meilleure.

• Platt (10/5): - We had an absolutely outstanding experience at Xanatseni. The lodge, rooms and facilities are all beautiful while the atmosphere feels informal but luxurious at the same time. The staff make the whole experience what it is - Teneil, Dani, Ricardo, Sydney and the entire team make you feel like part of the family. The safari itself was amazing. We saw all of the big 5 plus many more, thanks to our brilliant guide Ricardo and tracker Sydney. The food is also excellent and they catered really well for vegetarian options. We would recommend it to anyone and the only downside is how sad we were to leave! N/A

• Dennis (9/5): Geweldige lodge, een mooie belevenis! - We werden heel gastvrij ontvangen met een welkomstdrankje. Al het personeel was ontzettend lief en behulpzaam, je wordt als het ware opgenomen in een groep en dat voelde heel welkom. De lodge is mooi met leuke zitjes en een fijn zwembad. De kamers zijn schoon en ruim. Aan het eten werd veel aandacht besteed, de medewerkers schuiven ook gezellig aan bij de maaltijd aan de lange tafel. De game drives waren een geweldige ervaring, ook erg leuk hoe er tijdens de safari een tafeltje met versnaperingen wordt neergezet. We hebben de big five kunnen spotten, en onze gids Danny deed enorm haar best om ons zoveel mogelijk te laten zien. Ze wist ook veel over de dieren te vertellen onderweg. Niet zo heel veel eigenlijk, want we waren heel tevreden. Helaas was het vanaf onze 2e dag alleen minder goed weer waardoor minder dieren zich lieten zien, en de 2e nacht regende en onweerde het zo hard dat onze ochtend safari niet doorging ( in overleg met ons, in dit weer zouden we toch weinig gaan zien zeiden ze toen ik dit vroeg, dus hebben we hem niet door laten gaan) Natuurlijk kan niemand hier iets aan doen, niemand heeft immers invloed op het weer. Wel vonden we de prijs best stevig, maar dat komt misschien ook omdat de gamedrives ons een klein beetje tegenvielen ( wellicht ook door het weer)

Wir sahen die Big Five und die schöne schützende Artenvielfalt von Tier und Natur. Das ganze Team strahlte eine warme Herzlichkeit aus. Die liebevolle Art von Dani rundete unseren Aufenthalt ab. • Bogdan (10/5): Comfort in the wilderness, with an amazing female guide - Xanatseni is a lovely camp, maybe seeming larger than it is, because the chalets are adjacent. We never felt crowded, but our chalet shared walls with the dining area and with the neighbors next door. There is a central courtyard, almost half-way encircled by chalets, but our back porch opened on the river, with a nice sense of looking directly into the wilderness. Dining is at a very long table, giving the feel of an official meal, and allowing conversations only with more immediate neighbors. Two aspects of our short stay make this lodge stand out. First, we were scheduled to stay at the lodge on our last night in the Kruger area. For weeks, I kept looking for a way to change our date to avoid having to rush to the airport, but the lodge was always fully booked. Finally, close to our arrival date, I actually contacted them and asked if there was any way we could move our date to an earlier one, where we had some flexibility. To my surprise and delight, Zanel found a way to move our stay, allowing us to fully enjoy Xanatseni without having to rush to the airport. Second, but most memorably, we had the amazing Dani as our guide! It was the first time in many safaris that we had a female driver. Even as we were aware that in male-dominated jobs women have to work twice as hard for half the pay, Dani blew us away. She was not just more knowledgeable than most of the guides we have had, but more personable, an amazingly skilled driver off-road through heavy brush, yet with a self-deprecating humor that made the sun shine bright even on a cloudy day (which is what we had). She is also very lucky, because she got us to see amazing leopard sights, while the other guide cars had only near misses. (But we hope the part about half-pay is not true.) The suggested tips seemed very high -- and they were per room, not per person, as we are used to. While the portion for the guide and tracker were as we expected (and we gladly added some extra for Dani's impressive performances), there was a separate tip for the staff member hosting the dinner and a much larger tip suggested for the staff (calculated as a per-capita, rather than one amount for the group). We do appreciate the work of the supporting staff, and we tip to show this appreciation. We hope the management does their part in paying these employees as well, rather than suggesting such a large contribution from the guests, in addition to an already pretty expensive lodging cost.

• M (6/5): - スタッフは優しく、臨機応変に対応してくれるのもよかった。 ホテルまでの地図を事前にもらえたので、それに沿ってきたので迷わなかった。 部屋からキリンが見えた。 ガイドの知識は豊富だった。毛布、湯たんぽの準備はとてもよかった。 予約当初にはクルーガーからクラセリーは大回りする必要があると知らなかったので、宿泊前後が忙しくなってしまった。（クルーガーからは２時間ぐらいかかる） 食事が残念。レストランというより大味の家庭料理を食べているようだった。 部屋の水道水が変な味がする（スタッフもそれを言っていた）けれど、南アフリカでこのような経験はなかったのでシャワーや歯磨きを慎重にする必要があった。事前にそのような情報はなかったので、部屋にガラスボトルに入った水道水ではなくミネラルウォーターを常備してほしかった。（浄水サーバーはダイニングにはあったが部屋にコップはないので毎回取りに行くのは辛い） 部屋の鍵がなかったが、ホテルという場所なので、部屋の鍵は欲しかった。 クラセリーという場所の特性かもしれないが、クルーガーに比べると動物があまりみれなかった。夜も車の前面ライト＋手元ライトは少なすぎる。他のナイトサファリと比べても周囲がほとんどわからない状態を進むだけだった。
• Errol (10/5): Our stay and game view outings were spetacular, everything we hoped for and more. Highly recommended - From the pickup up from the airport, to the morning and evening game viewing drives, to the excellent meals, the wonderful accommodations, the genuine feeling of hospitality, to the transfer back to the airport, everything was excellent. They even provided hot water bottles and hooded ponchos (snugglies?) for the early morning drives to keep away the chill. Teneil took care of all of the meal/accomodations admirably and made us feel right at home. Dean our game driver was knowledgeable and entertained us with countless stories. Im convinced I need to go back and bring my grown kids for an experience of a lifetime. Nothing.

• Graham E (10/5): Great place to stay in Kruger - I'm sure there are more luxurious lodges but this place is more than luxurious enough for 'normal' travellers. Most importantly all the rooms have aircon that works! All the staff were super friendly and service and food was top notch. Dean was a brilliant Ranger, really knowledgeable, and very entertaining and a big thanks to Dani as well for looking after us. We will be recommending Xanatseni to all our friends.

Ross is nice. its a nice place to relax, its very quiet. if it comes to game drives, and i have done a lot the last years and i have seen a lot of guides, comparing to this, there is a lot to do about that. a lot. so, from now on, you and me check before, since how many years a guide is guiding, how he is dealing with people and so on. from now on, i will ask this every lodge before i stay there. if a guide is not able to tell you anything about an animals behavior, if a guide is not interested in conservation, treating a customer with respect or anything which is normal or talking frist with the customer where to go, tracking together and so on, i would say, skip it.

The food was so delicious with a lot of variety 😋 we had some really great sightings with our ranger being very knowledgeable. All the staff where fantastic and we really felt at home and always looked after! Thank you Xanatseni for helping us celebrate our anniversary so perfectly! just the night drives could have had better lamps for game viewing

• Stephanie (3/5): Choose a different lodge - Room was clean and beautiful and the grounds were peaceful. House keeping and Ross were lovely. Most of the meals were what you’d expect from a lodge experience. Vehicles not properly maintained paired with an inexperienced guide cost us our only quality leopard sighting while other lodge’s guests had a phenomenal sighting. Stion and Thaniel mean well but would benefit from additional training on how to interact with guests and wildlife. We were fed previously frozen chicken nuggets for lunch. Drinks were surprisingly not included during Sundowners. Lots of potential, but we left frustratingly disappointed and will not return.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - This has been one of our most memorable stays anywhere in the world. We knew our first safari would be amazing but Xanatseni exceeded all of our expectations. Aside from the 4-star amenities and hospitality that rival that of hotels in big cities, the staff was the best part of the experience. Our rangers Bill and Mel were extremely knowledgable and passionate about sharing their love for all living things in the bush. Ross was there whenever we needed anything and shared many entertaining stories about his time on safaris. This has been an unforgettable experience and we feel incredibly lucky to have spent our first safari at Xanatseni.

Pontos negativos: a comida deixou bastante a desejar (café da manhã simples e repetitivo, almoço foi um hamburguer - pasmem. Os jantares foram bons). Outro ponto negativo foi a queda frequente de energia, que aconteceu nos 2 dias que ficamos no lodge. Para um hotel que custa em torno de 2.000 reais a diária, essas coisas não podem acontecer.

Every game drive is an adventure, the rooms, pool, gym and common areas are all well-equipped and beautifully maintained, the meals are terrific. But what made this such an unforgettable experience were the people who worked there. We remember every one of them... Teneil, Ross, Sydney, Ash, Given, the list goes on and on. We're fortunate to have been their guests, and we're looking forward to spending more time with them in the future.

• Rafael (10/5): Safari incrível - O hotel possui apenas 5 quartos, com ótimo atendimento e muito confortável. Todas as refeições estão inclusas, ficando a parte apenas as bebidas (preços muito justos). Os safaris são conduzidos por profissional muito qualificado.

O ranger Ross faz um ótimo trabalho, esforçando-se muito encontrar os big five. A única objeção liga-se à divisão da área em reservas e propriedades, o que pode dificultar o encontro de alguns animais na área disponível para os games do hotel.

Desde a chegada até a partida uma maravilhosa equipe, sempre sorridentes e educados, te recebe muito bem. Comida bem feita, saborosa. Quartos bem espaçosos e confortáveis. Tivemos 4 game drivers maravilhosos. O guia (Ross) e o rastreador (Sydney) conhecem bem a reserva e nos transmitiram confiança o tempo todo. Se vc está em dúvida se aluga um carro ou não para ir até lá, eu aconselho a alugar. Não há dificuldade nenhuma em chegar lá dirigindo. Somente lembre-se de ficar do lado esquerdo da pista. Our stay was amazing. From arrival to departure a wonderful staff, always smiling and polite, welcomes you very well. Food well done, tasty. Rooms very spacious and comfortable. We had 4 wonderful game drivers. The ranger (Ross) and the tracker (Sydney) know the reserve well and have given us confidence all the time. If you are in doubt if you rent a car or not to go there, I advise you to rent. There is no difficulty in getting there driving. Just remember to stay on the left side of the road.
• Kim & Jeanette (10/5): Super friendly lodge in beautiful setting - Spent 2 nights with our family( 6 of us) at this lovely place(Easter 2017) and will certainly come back again. The owners and family were also at the lodge over our stay and were so welcoming. From the moment we arrived we were impressed . The room was so beautiful, so clean ,food was great too. We enjoyed the pre dinner drinks around the fire with great conversation. The game drives were great and we saw so much.The big 5 all in 24 hours. We have done 4 trips to the Kruger area and stayed at 10 different lodges, in all price ranges and value for money this lodge is right up the top.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing Staff - The location within in the reserve was great, and the staff was amazing. Plenty of great food and beverages around and during the safari drives. The fitness center and some of the latches could use a refresh, but they do not affect the overall experience.
