• Douglas. Horsham UK (9/5): Good choice in stop-over Montagu. - The staff without exception went out of their way to make us welcome on a personal level. Meals were provided according to our choices in an intimate setting mostly out of doors. Good pool and small gardens. Set at the edge of this small town in rural surroundings it was peaceful and offered fine views of the nearby mountains. Twin room was modest but comfortable with good-sized bathroom/shower. Joseph, as daily host and chef, deserves special mention. Easy parking. Nothing.

Anything you can wish for, such us pool towels, books, water, coffee etc. was there. We were well looked after by the two hostesses and really felt welcome. We got a super Restaurant tip and had the most amazing dinner experience. Breakfast was well put together with a breakfast menu to choose from plus a small buffet.

• Lukas (9/5): Superb - Beautiful quiet location next to a river surrounded by mountains. Comfortable room and cozy communal indoor and outdoor areas. The owner was very friendly and proactive. I had to leave early before breakfast time and the staff prepared a breakfast bag for me the day before. While the host / manager was friendly, his constant "joking" was a bit annoying to the point when it was hard to distinguish what he meant as a fact and what was a "joke". His appearance (a dirty T-shirt) did not make the best first impression. For a luxury guest house, we would expect more breakfast choices. The buffet food was very nice, so was the omelette, but a simple menu with hot meals would be nice. We are speaking from experience with several similar guest houses.

• Eckhard (9/5): Superb - Stay 1.3.24 - 3.3.24 The Abundance Guesthouse is a beautiful facility, both the rooms and the grounds. What is special are the works of art by Anton Smit, which are skillfully placed outside and in the house. Martly is a nice host who cares about the well-being of her guests. Not to forget Joseph, a friendly guy, very helpful and always available for a joke. Abundance can be recommended with a clear conscience. We will book with Martly again on a future stop in Montagu.

Joseph, the manager, and the owner were - The property was immaculate and our suite had everything we could need and several luxuries we didn’t even think we needed! The owner and her manager could not have done more to make our stay memorable. They arranged restaurant reservations and gave us suggestions on activities we could do during our stay. I honestly found the property faultless.

• Tonia (7/5): Good - We recenetly spent 1 night at the In Abundance guest house. They were really sweet and made a booking for us at a restaurant after my asking where one can eat. The house is nice as is the pool area. Breakfast was good. What we didn't like was our room. We booked a twin room as that was the only one left. We were disappointed. It was very nondescript and we feel it was overpriced for what we got, although the price already included a discount. We also found the beds to be hard and uncomfortable.
• Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Montagu truly is a hidden gem on Route 62. We only stayed one night to short-cut the long drive but the place exceeded our expectations. Joseph gave as an excellent check-in accompanied with a great sense of humour and booked us a dinner; just in case as most of restaurants are closed on a Sunday. Probably the best breakfast we had in South Africa and we travelled this country extensively. The owner cares about her guests; and this was also a very positive experience.
• Harriet (9/5): The perfect place for exploring Montagu - We had a great welcome from Josef, our room was clean and quiet and the pool area was lovely to relax around - the view of the mountains is stunning! Breakfast was perfect for us, freshly baked bread, local jam/honey, cheese, fruit, yoghurt and granola and an open omelette made to order. NB dinner reservations made in advance on your behalf.

The staff was very welcoming and caring we got some nice tips for eating and sightseeing. The only thing is we thought the room had a terrace, it just had a window to the street. But actually there is enough space to hang around the pool and have a good time.

If it were me, I would have upgraded my clients to the best room and given them breakfast. Fire was out when we returned from dinner .

Bed and linen was the best!! Would highly recommend In Abundance. They booked dinner for us (without me even asking) at the BEST restaurant (The Grill Room) we've been to in a long while. For breakfast they gave us the option of eating in the guest house or a voucher to go and have breakfast at two other restaurants. We went to The Rambling Rose - and had a VERY nice breakfast. We will definitely go back to Montagu very very soon. Loved the town and it's friendly people! Loved everything

Lovely room with a picturesque view and a large, comfy bed. The breakfast was amazing with nearly all locally sourced food. There is nothing not to like. It was great.

• Henriette (9/5): Lovely Guesthouse with mediocre breakfast. - The interior decoration is stylish and sleek with some exquisite artwork on display. The patio where breakfast is served , is breathtaking beautiful. The Breakfast is mediocre. It remains the same everyday. The warm breakfast needs some variation and a lot more of the lovely fresh fruit of the region should be on offer.
