Durch die leicht erhöhte Position der Unterkunft hat man sowohl von den Zimmern als auch vom Frühstücksraum aus eine absolut traumhafte Aussicht auf den Ozean – der perfekte Ort, um den Tag zu beginnen! Das Personal war unglaublich hilfreich und hat uns bei der Ankunft alles ausführlich erklärt, sodass wir uns sofort orientieren konnten. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls ein Highlight: super Qualität und eine große Auswahl. Wer Meeresrauschen und Gastfreundschaft sucht, ist hier genau richtig!

- Falk (9/5): Kleine schnuckeliges Gasthaus direkt am Meer - Wir haben auf unserer Südafrika Rundreise im November zwei Nächte im Fairlight Beach House übernachtet. Das Zimmer war groß und sauber. Das Hotel liegt direkt am Meer, hat einen gepflegten Garten mit Pool. Frühstück ist sehr gut und man kann beim Frühstück die Aussicht auf das Meer genießen. Aufenthaltsräume und offene Küche sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Fußläufig sind Restaurants in kurzer Entfernung zu erreichen. Parkplätze sind vorhanden und das Gasthaus befindet sich in einer sicheren Gegend. Wir können das Hotel bedenkenlos weiterempfehlen. Kleiner Tipp an das Personal beim Frühstück. Einfach etwas eher mit der Frühstücksvorbereitung anfangen damit der Gast um 7,00 Uhr auch die Köstlichkeiten genießen kann und nicht warten muss.

The staff delightful and after meeting the owner and hearing about the history all that more memorable. Really awesome to g to a place that is family owned and hands on. Also brilliant to know that when we called for any queries that Collin was on the ball. To be honest, the room we had ie Peter was not a first time great experience due to the visitors in the David room next door. They not only smoked all night but drank and were quite loud so we did not thoroughly enjoy the ambience of location and room to its fullest. In saying that though, we will definitely be back and will request the Michelle or Roxanne on recommendation from the Owners.

- Christien McLeod (1/5): Never again - Close to beach This was a very disappointing experience and not what I expect and know from a 4-star guesthouse. After checking in, several issues were identified, including being allocated a room that did not match what was booked, cleanliness concerns in the room, and a parking arrangement that posed safety concerns. These matters were raised directly with the owner/manager. Following our discussion, he acknowledged that the situation was unacceptable and confirmed that a refund would be processed after my booking was reduced from two nights to one night. It was explained that the refund could not be returned to the card and would instead be done via EFT. I only wanted a refund for the additional night as I refused to stay there one more day. Having to clean your own bathtub before using it and then provide physical proof of the buildup to the owner is unacceptable and unhygienic. More than a month has now passed and no refund has been received, despite multiple follow-ups. Communication has since stopped, and the promised refund has not been honoured. I travel to Durban weekly for business and stay at various accommodations. Based on both the experience and the way this matter was handled afterward, I do not recommend this property at all and will not stay here again.

Super schöne Zimmer mit tollem Blick auf das Meer. Die gesamte Unterkunft strahlt ein sehr familiäres Flair aus. Collin und sein Team sind tolle Gastgeber und bei Fragen immer ansprechbar und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück wird liebevoll und individuell zubereitet. Der Kaffee ist eine Klasse für sich. Wir fühlten und sehr wohl und eine Nacht war definitiv zu kurz. Auch bei einem nächtlichen Spaziergang fühlten wir uns komplett sicher. Vielen Dank für die Möglichkeit eines late check-out. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder. Die Länge unseres Aufenthaltes, wir wären sehr gerne länger geblieben !!

Breakfast was tasty. Some restaurants available about 300m to walk. Safe environment. Room and bathroom were very bright. Above the entrance door there was glass. So the light from floor could shine in the room.

The breakfast was great with a wide variety The shower drained very poorly and was dirty. The tv and bedside lamps were covered in dust. The wall where the tv was mounted and the wall with the dresser had large brown stains that looked like something had been split on them and hadn't been cleaned

- Valerie (6/5): Great in sunshine; not so great in Durban rain - Position, facilities in general. Heads up for future guests:- lot of steps outside to access rooms. It was raining during our stay. We discovered umbrellas by the front door on our last morning; umbrellas in rooms would be helpful! Leaving instructions say to leave key with reception or in box. Couldn't find a box. Have to use key to open gate to get out. Then to get back in to climb up to reception to find someone to open gate to let us out again. Got very wet (that's when we saw the umbrellas!!). Lower parking got very wet and boggy. Also, balcony is actually a shared access to other rooms and parking.

The lady at reception and the young man who took our breakfast orders really gave great service throughout our stay. They were helpful and just great human beings!

Besides the beautiful clean rooms and delicious breakfast, the beach and the Indian Ocean are across the street. There are also two superb lunch/dinner restaurants a 6 or 7 minute walk away. - ellyp626 (10/5): A perfect stopover - We spent three separate nights at Fairlight en route to and from the airport and trips, and it was the perfect place to stopover. The location is beautiful overlooking the ocean, and the rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable and quiet with sea views. Breakfast was wonderful with plenty of choice in a light and airy room, and the service was brilliant. Colin and his staff were consistently welcoming and helpful, so that we felt completely at home each time we stayed. There are good restaurants within easy walking distance. Thank you

You might get accommodated in Coral Sands - + comfortable mattress + working aircondition + good breakfast - We booked an accommodation at Fairlight B&B, but we were accommodated in another building across the street (Coral Sands) - The house is really run down - The bathroom could have been cleaner - We wanted to change to Fairlight Beach House B&B, but we were told that this building was fully booked - Although we had a sea view, we could not enjoy it. - No value for money (~160€ pn)

- Amelie_Dekaise (10/5): Wonderful ocean view ! - Superb guesthouse on the seafront ! A warm welcome that makes you feel right at home. Very quiet location, with secure parking and several restaurants in the same area. We stayed in room Roxane (as well as the room next door for the children). The room is magnificent, bright and spacious, and the bedding is very comfortable. There's also a lovely terrace where you can enjoy the ocean view.
- Elize (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful stay - Fairlight is in a beautiful location close to the beach. The owners and staff are the most friendliest helpfull people. If you need private and comfortable this is what you will get. Will definitely use Fairlight again Nothing much not to like at Fairlight. It was a great stay from beginning to end. Spacious and clean rooms with a beautiful view over the ocean

- debbeer123 (10/5): Fabulous Fairlight - My friends and I stayed two nights at the Fairlight, booking 3 separate rooms for our party of 6 people. The Fairlight served as a wonderful base for birding around Durban. It was close to King Shaka (DUR) airport, as well as several good birding spots - Umdloti lagoon, Umhlanga lagoon, Mount Moreland IBA, and Sebaya Conservancy. The rooms were delightful, the breakfast delicious, and the balcony views of the Indian Ocean were absolutely spectacular! I highly recommend this lovely B&B.
