• Dan Nitrox (9/5): High quality ryokan with nice onsen and excellent kaiseki dinner - This ryokan offers great views from both rooms and onsen baths. The traditional kaiseki dinner was exceptional. The onsen itself was clean with wide selection of shampoo and soaps. The location is convenient to take scenic Kurobe gourge railway, the station is less than 10 minutes by foot. The living suites were very spacious. Unlike other ryokans of this class, the provided breakfast was not the kaiseki-style but rather typical buffet of a business hotel. Surprisingly, the room did not have a tea pot with the loose tea but an electric kettle and tea bags. The lobby coffee machine works only from 2pm to 6pm.

• Christina (8/5): - Die Onsen Erfahrung war besonders und es ist ein Ryokanhotel, so wie man es sich vorstellt. Halbpension war sehr gut und Dinner mit Fisch in den verschiedensten Varianten . Es ist gut gelegen und die Bahnen sind Fussläufig zu erreichen. Es ist doch in die Jahre gekommen, aber wer vintage mag und ein paar Flecke in Kauf nimmt, ist perfekt aufgehoben .

• Rose (1/5): Beautiful views but terrible pest problem - The area is beautiful, as are the nature views. Kurobe Gorge is beyond stunning, and the town of Unazuki Onsen is really cute! Lots of nice local spots and cafes, it's really charming. The staff at first were really nice and helpful in killing all the bugs, bless them. I wish I could have had the experience I so looked forward to at this ryokan, as it was the property I was most excited about on our Japan trip! We shelled out for one of the most expensive rooms with a river view. My partner also was super excited since it is his first time in Japan, and it was going to be his first ryokan and onsen stay. Upon check-in, we were warned about local stink bugs that might get into our room from the mountains, and that staff would come kill any if we rang them up. No biggie, we can handle a few bugs, right? I lived in Japan for years, I know the drill. ...Y'all, within the first two hours we spotted nearly THIRTY bugs, and with every one killed, a new one replaced it within minutes. Some tried to crawl into our bags, one landed on my partner, there were at least a dozen in the hallway - the more you looked around, the more you spotted. Staff assured us they'd be happy to come kill them anytime, but they also said it would get worse as it got colder at night, that there were no rooms safe from them, and that they were getting heaps of calls from other rooms too. I get that this might be seasonal or dependent on the weather, but it just wasn't reasonable for us to spend our whole evening in paranoia and stress, rather than relaxing and enjoying ourselves as we paid to do. So in the interest of our sanity, we booked a hotel in our next city and rushed out to get the train in time. I felt absolutely terrible for my partner too, who I wanted to enjoy and appreciate the ryokan and onsen experience. Unfortunately the property had no interest in refunding us, not even partially - in fact, they didn't even apologize at all, which was even weirder and not typical in Japan. Maybe their pride was wounded, maybe they thought we were being precious entitled spoiled gaijin. They claimed because we chose to leave, we agreed to their cancellation policy of no refunds.

• Richard (10/5): Our stay could not have been better and the staff looked after us really well. - We had a very spacious room and the whole property was a great introduction to Japanese hotels. The staff went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable and the views from the room amazing. Dining was a wonderful experience. The private Onsen is a really good feature with a beautiful view.

• Pérez Montava (10/5): The best experience! - The staff were very kind and they welcomed us very warmly. They assisted us with everything we needed. The view from the rooms was incredible and breakfast was delicious and had many options. An experience we definitely recommend!

• Kumiko (8/5): - 宇奈月温泉駅に到着した時にかなりの雨が降っていて、当初徒歩で宿まで行く予定でしたが無理そうなので電話すると、すぐにお迎えに来て頂きました。 アルペンルートへの女子旅でしたが、直前の日程変更で希望の日程で空いてる部屋はデラックスルームのみだったので、広いお部屋となりました。ソファがあるお部屋と、布団が4組は敷けるほど広い和室。2人ではもったいないくらいの広さでしたが、広いのもなかなか快適です。広い窓からは渓流を眺められます。 夜はエアコンなしで寝れました。 部屋には加湿空気清浄機がありましたが、水を入れる部分がややヌルヌル感があり、ちょっと使うのがためらわれました。 洗面台のアメニティの所に歯ブラシがなく、？でしたが、浴衣の方にありました。洗面台の方でいいんじゃないでしょうか。 一階のトイレを使用した時に、排水口のピンク汚れが気になりました。 お料理は地元のもの、季節のものも盛り込まれていて、少しずつ色んなものが出ます。最後に炊き込みご飯で、かなりお腹いっぱいになりますが、ご飯は意外と少なめだったので、完食できる量です。 朝ごはんはバイキングで、席数多く種類も適度だと思います。 露天風呂は大きな露天風呂が1ヶ所と、洗い場2ヶ所の家族風呂を露天風呂として開放している所が1ヶ所で、夜と朝で男女入れ替えです。広い露天風呂がその日の夜は男性用だったので朝の時間で広い方に入りましたが、夜明かりの露天風呂の写真が素敵だったので、夜入りたかったなぁと思いました。狭い方の露天風呂は洗い場2ヶ所なので、そこが埋まっていれば上がる時のかけ湯ができません。 大浴場と露天風呂は別の場所にあり、色々入りたい人にはちょっと使い勝手が悪いです。

• William (10/5): Expected a run of the mill commercial hotel and this has been the highlight of our trip so far. - Sometimes you come across a gem. This is one, and such a pleasant surprise in every regard. Our room was a very luxurious, Japanese style bedroom on 7th floor overlooking the gorge. The dinner was truly wonderful and they managed to provide gluten free soy sauce (coeliac), despite not claiming to provide for individual allergies. The exterior does not do justice to the inside of the hotel.

• Verified traveler (10/5): 우나즈키온천마을에서 편안하게 묵을 수 있는 료칸 - 료칸이라서 그런지 가격이 저렴하진 않지만 굉장히 편하게 지냈다. 우선 프론트에는 남자 한명만 영어를 잘 쓰고 나머지분들은 말이 잘 안통하긴 하지만 너무 친절하셔서 큰 문제는 없었다. 노린재 주의라는 푯말을 보긴했는데 산 쪽에 있어서 노린재는 진짜 좀 있는듯... 처음에 들어가서 히터를 못찾아서 춥다고 하니까 히터 및 개인 온열기까지 갖다주고 그래서 친절함에 만족합니다.

• Pak Cheung (10/5): A relaxing getaway! - Hotel staff tried extremely hard to help with our questions although most of them have very limited English. Nami and Hirosi (sorry if I remember your name wrong) were most helpful and assisted in sorting out our Alpine route schedules and luggage transfer. The Japanese style room was lovely, quiet and peaceful with one side directly facing a river and an uninhabited mountain. You can hear the sound of the running water. The onsen was great too!
