Guest Reviews
- Chloe (10/5): Warm, friendly pub with delicious breakfast!! - Very friendly welcome! Our room was huge and perfect for what we needed. Our Welsh breakfast in the morning was so tasty! We look forward to coming back soon.
- Shirley (8/5): Nice pub with friendly staff. - Nice pub with very friendly staff. Room was comfortable with tv and tea making. En-suite had a good shower. A little tired perhaps in decor but clean. We stayed 3 nights and didn’t see much evidence of daily tidying or cleaning of our room other than bin emptying and replacement of bottled water. We are tidy people so didn’t really bother us. Breakfast was ok but little choice if you didn’t fancy a full cooked breakfast or various elements of it. We were out all day motorcycling around the fabulous roads nearby and it was a pleasant enough place to return to each evening.
- Jill (8/5): Very welcoming traditional Hotel. - Really pleased we stayed there as it had everything - panelling,, stone, kind and caring staff and good food.
We know it is due for refurbishment which would be good as our room was rather sparse without any pictures up and only a net curtain at the bathroom window which could be overlooked. The pillows were very uncomfortable, but the room was really clean and well maintained overall and we would like to visit again please. Thank you to the establishment to the staff.
- Stuart (8/5): Good but avoid room 12 - Lovely staff who will show you to your room on checking-in and offer excellent, friendly service in the bar/restaurant and at breakfast. Food was excellent - both dinner and breakfast. Free parking at the rear of the pub. Only complaint was that room 12 is right above the bar/restaurant toilets and your are kept awake by the hand dryers being switched on and off. Could also do with softer pillows. That being said, I would stay again.
- Anita (8/5): Lovely old hotel - We had a large comfortable room, with a comfy bed & well fitted out bathroom. Dinner & breakfast were excellent. The decorations throughout the old building were wonderfully quirky
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Large comfortable room
Wifi abit poor in room
Staff were very helpful
Good parking and host let us leave our car there, after we checked out, to go exploring
Had a lot of fun at this pub
- denise (10/5): Nice hotel - A nice friendly hotel. Welcoming. Room very clean and spacious. Nice small town area to wander around
- Anthony (10/5): Nice Place to Stay - We stayed overnight looking at some local National Trust properties. A very old and well kept Inn, with a great atmoshere. Lovely local food especially the breakfast. a nice little town, we would certainly recommend it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Big comfortable room. - Facilities, room meals and helpful friendly staff were above expectations.
- David (10/5): Welsh Trip - Excellent breakfasts
- Phillip (6/5): good location - Hotel food and staff were excellent. Heating was not turned on with temperatures of -2 we complained but nothing was done left 2 days early. pity could be a fabulous hotel with proper management.
- Anthony (6/5): could have been so much better - first room (24) was lovely but unfortunately the tv was broken and as the spare rooms TV's were wall mounted all I could do was change rooms.
2nd room (21) window lock and sash broken so had to make do and jam a teaspoon into the side to hold the window in place to reduce street noise and keep some of the wind out. even with small oil radiator on all night the room remained unpleasantly cold.
Breakfast was a disaster with everything covered in burnt bits - unacceptable and inedible.
- Sarah (8/5): Cheap, clean and cheerful - We had a very good room although constant noise from some kind of fan annoying.
- Carl Davies (8/5): - Value for money was great. The staff were very welcoming and all were polite and friendly. Food was excellent (Evening meal/Breakfast) The sausages were so nice we popped around the corner to the local butchers and bought some :) Central to the town and very old but kept to a good standard throughout. The local beer (Crwr) is a must for those who prefer good beer. Would I stay there again? Absolutely.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice basic hotel. However, the heating could have been better even in the main bar.
- Susan (10/5): Well Enjoyable Stay - Really enjoyed our one night stay. It is a lovely old traditional pub/hotel the staff were friendly, the room was big and clean with fresh towels laid out on the bed. Lots of channels on the tv if thats your thing. The evening meal we had in the pub was very good, it was pub food and very enjoyable. The breakfast was cooked to order and everything was nice. Would definately stay there again.
- Antony (8/5): A Curate's Egg. - I've stayed here before & it really is a Curate's Egg of a hotel. On one hand, it really is very good value for money - the rooms are spacious, the bar is very welcoming & the food is great - either Bar or Restaurant. Excellent. On the other hand, the room is dark & needs better lighting if working on one's laptop in the evening & the Wi-Fi is patchy in it's reception. The staff are very friendly & nothing is too much trouble.
- Mark (8/5): Excellent value - Nice hotel, but lacking a bit of TLC. For instance in the bathroom there was a lot of mould on the tiles around the shower and the window was masked out with a bath mat drawing pinned to the window frame and it looked like it had been there a long time. Also, and I hesitate to say this because a lot of place are over the top, the room was a bit sparse, not even a picture on the walls. Overall though, a nice place and excellent value. Great location on the middle of town and fee parking round the back. Breakfast was good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely place, lovely food - Really enjoyed my stay and loved the food. The chicken wings were really nice and the cooked breakfast fantastic. Definitely come back.
- Mike (8/5): Nice - Nice Welcome
