• Amelia (5/5): Good value for money and good location - Clean bedding, nice staff Bathrooms were really dirty constantly and really weren’t pleasant to use Aircon was tempermental at times too
• Lucas (4/5): If I return I’ll choose another place to stay. - It’s a rule that smoking in the building is not allowed, but the level 4 emergency exit and pot plants are full of cigarettes and there is a strong smell of it in the corridors. The toilets are very poor and not constant cleanup. Since I arrived there were 3 beds with the old clients shower towel and bed liner. It’s was never cleaned or removed from the beds. It seems that the staff is never there.

• Joel (4/5): - Room was ok even though there are no curtains. I usually don't complain. My main issue though with this hostel was the cleanliness or lack thereof of the bathrooms/showers. Horrible. Worst ones I ever had. I don't thinking they clean them very well.
• Jin (5/5): - The hotel has a convenient and pleasant location. On my first night, I was forced to sleep in the hotel lobby because I was unable to contact any hotel staff. Fortunately, another guest helped me open the hotel door. I had to curl up on a small sofa, and the air conditioning was extremely cold, making the situation even more uncomfortable. I had clearly informed the hotel in advance via Booking.com messages that I would arrive late, at around 1:00 a.m. This was my first time traveling to Malaysia, but the experience was extremely disappointing. I was scammed by a taxi driver, and despite having a confirmed hotel booking, I was not allowed to check in upon arrival. The next morning at 8:00 a.m., a staff member finally noticed me and informed me that I could check in between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. This was completely unacceptable given the circumstances. I requested a refund, but the hotel refused. Later, the hotel offered compensation in the form of one free night for the following day. However, by that time, I had already booked and paid for another hotel due to the bad experience. Overall, this was a very unpleasant and stressful experience.

• Craig (10/5): - I stayed in a double room with a shared bathroom. My room came with kettle and complimentary tea and coffee . The AC worked perfectly fine. The hostel is in a prime location with plenty of places to eat and drink . Street food guy literally outside, which was handy. The communal area was also brilliant The staff was very helpful and friendly with great advice on what to do during my stay .

• Margerit (7/5): Für ein paar Tage erträglich. - Freundliches Personal. Sehr zentral mit wenigen Gehminuten zum Zentrum George Town. Bettlaken und Handtuch frisch. Unhygienisch !!! Keine Putzfrau oder Putzmann in Sicht. Kein Toilettenpapier. Haare in jedem Abfluss. Leider ist das Mehrbettzimmer auch tagsüber immer dunkel. Man soll kein Licht einschalten ???
• Prasad (7/5): Good place to stay! But depends from person to person - Excellent location, 7x11, laundry, good number of cafés and restaurants are nearby. You can literally see the TOP Penang from the hostel. Comfortable beds with locker facility. The charging points suck. This was my second visit and I spend quite some time charging my devices because it was more than just plugging in and leaving it there. The bottom beds were available, in the room I stayed, especially two beds (both above and below were empty). In spite of this they charged me 10 RM extra for my bottom bed request. I did not like this

• flooores (6/5): Never ever again. - Bed was comfortable, arround the corner a Chinise Soup Restaurant and a Minimarket. 5 Min. to a good, cheap local Restaurant. The Hotel was dirty. Many smal things in bad conditions. To change the temperature of the aircon, you need to ask the reception to come up. The cristalls in the room, I guess, never where cleaned. I not like to stay again.

• Imogen (5/5): Oké voor kort verblijf, maar kan beter - Goede locatie! Er zijn geen gordijnen aan de bedden, wat ik wel jammer vind. Ik sliep op de eerste verdieping (enkel vrouwen) en de badkamer werd naar mijn gevoel niet gekuist. In één van de toiletten werd geen wc-papier aangevuld, het duurde lang voor de vuilbakken werden geleegd, de spiegels zijn enorm vuil, ... Ook in de kamer zag ik ze enkel de vuilbak legen. Over het algemeen denk ik dus dat er niet eens iets gekuist wordt, enkel de receptie heb ik ze eens zien stofzuigen. Ik heb dit hostel met enorme korting kunnen boeken, dus ik vind het tegenvallen voor mensen die de volle pot moeten betalen.
• Winnie (5/5): the room is not cooling if someone is controlling the timer of the aircon. - staff is friendly. i guess someone in the room contolling the timer of the aircon as it suddenly not cold in the morning and made me feel stuffy. I have to check out earlier as I could not continue my sleep and it is quite frustrating.

I lost my wallet just before I got here and they helped me find a police station and called the city bus service for me to see if they had it. Unfortunately I didn't get it back but the effort they gave was just amazing!

The location is absolutely perfect—super convenient to explore George Town, with lots of local food stalls, cafes, and attractions just a short walk away. The hostel was spotlessly clean, well-maintained, and comfortably air-conditioned, which was a huge plus in the Penang heat. The rooms and common areas were modern, fresh, and cozy, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring. Special shoutout to the staff who were super helpful and welcoming. They were always ready to assist with local tips and made the stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommend Tido Hostel if you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and centrally located place in Penang! Would love to stay here again on my next trip. 💛

• Jannik (3/5): There are better hostels around, it’s old (not as the pictures) and not well maintained. - Where should I start, I don't know... there are better ones closer to the old city and the main tourist areas. The bathroom situation, ugh. There are four bathrooms on one floor but two are locked the whole time. One of the open bathrooms can't be locked and I was on the toilet when some guy came in, imagine you are a girl and someone comes in when you take a shower... We asked the staff multiple times to open the other two bathrooms in our five night stay, they opened it and a few hours later they were closed again. Also the showers which are open only have like shower heads which are on breast height. And the bathrooms need a very big deep deep clean. The sinks get cleaned almost every day but the mirrors haven't been cleaned in our whole stay! Also the water doesn't rinse good. In none of the bathrooms the staff was able to put the toilet paper in the holder (The windows don't close properly so it's very loud in the night with all the traffic from the main road coming in to the room and due to the that they don't close properly there are coming a lot of ants in the room. Also the windows needs to be cleaned, you could have a beautiful sunset but the view is just blurry. And the bedsheets and the towels provided were not 100% white and with stains. Some reviews say you can go to the rooftop but that's not true, only the 5th floor chill area is available to go there. At least the AC was good.
