They moved or reservation to a lower grade room one week before arrival and didn't lower rate, there's no one onsite (this is nothing but an Airbnb/Vrbo. The body soap was completely empty! I have been there multiple occasions but booked through the bygone itself and the one time I booked through this app I end up in a room with no air conditioning with the 1-year-old a pregnant wife and a 9-year-old daughter. I reached out to the office all night with no response. The pool was cold and it was supposed to be warmed so I called but maintenance was out of town so they were the only ones that were able to adjust it instead I spoke with Maria and she walked me through how to get the pool warm. I was told I was going to be refunded and never received a dime back.

I think the hosts are little bit too agressive with the automated messages, texts after texts, it should be something simple and less confusing.We got automated messages that check out is at 11, then that check out is at 10…Anyways we checked out before 10.The pool was dirty and not heated like it says, our son was very dissapointed.

Upon arrival went to speak to a gal sitting in the office, she was on the phone, waved me off and after a minute I just left. Water pressure at the sink very low, no handrails on very uneven stone walkway, in room coffee service desperately in need of an upgrade.

- Mary (10/5): Bygone offers quaint charm without sacrificing the clean comfort of a regular hotel environment. - This place is soooo cute! It is quaint, but still has that updated, crisp, clean hotel feel. Everything about the process was easy and perfect. Wish we’d had more than just a one night sleepover to enjoy it. Will absolutely stay here again if we’re in the area. 10/10!

Staff not available for the stay , so no bar available in the evening . Was looking to do the cocktail mixology on Saturday evening , stated did not need to book as hotel guest on the website , however when checked in said wasn’t available as they had not booked someone to do the bar mixology. Breakfast not available on a Monday , offered. Voucher for pastry and coffee in town had to go back on ourselves as was travelling the opposite way .

The staff was supper friendly and helpful. The balcony door wasn't locking, the staff helped us and took care of it. - Barbara (10/5): The Bygone was the perfect option for experiencing all that Wimberley has to offer - But even though it was only six minutes out of town, we felt like we were away from the hustle and bustle. Also, the bedding was divine! We had a double room, and both of us were aware of a indention in the mattresses where people probably commonly sit. It was more comfortable to scoot to the middle or away from that area to sleep. Perhaps putting a chair in the room may help?

- Louis (6/5): Not going back - We rented 5 rooms and were were disappointed this time. The office was closed Saturday morning until 8:15 and that was late for continental breakfast. Sunday and Monday mornings they were closed completely. They gave us some cards to go to town and get coffee and a pastry but it would have been nice to have it there. There was coffee supplied in the rooms but difficult to find a place to plug it in to. Sunday afternoon we were leaving the pool area (which had the door propped open, and a lady who had just parked her car, and 2 teenage girls, was heading towards the swimming area. The lady said she was going swimming and one of the girls asked if there was a restroom they could use. When asked if they had a room there they said no. So the place is no longer secured. Very disappointed this time and we aren't going back.

Just close enough to town square while still being a little away for great views of the hill country! Only took us 5-10 minutes to get to restaurants and shops. Great stay! Our room got a little hot at night and couldn’t figure out the AC unit, but I’m sure if we would’ve reached out to staff they would have helped out.

Everywhere you are there is a light tune being played. The grounds are pretty with little spots to relax at. It’s a small place so everything is right in one spot. Kind of has a camp feel The beds weren’t very comfortable.

There was a sewer odor in our room, the view was of trash, junk and misc project items. The dinner and mixology class was cancel at the last minute, breakfast was canceled at 7am, and the room was tiny with no where to put anything. The property is located right off the road and there was road noise all night and you can hear the other guests. It wasn’t what we had hoped and decided to move locations. Staff were nice, good with communication and helpful but some things are out of their control. I’m hope they get their projects done, things cleaned up and issues resolved. It could be a fun place. The only complaint I have is that when we went to get our coffee and breakfast in the morning, the electricity was off and we couldn’t toast our bagel. The view from our room was incredible; serene and tranquil.

Excellent air-conditioning and no complaints other than they could use a keurig coffee maker in room. It's a short walk to lobby for free coffee so not a big deal. Lovely, friendly staff and would definitely come back!
- Traci (10/5): Excellent Small Hotel With Killer Views - Excellent choice for a stay in the Wimberley area, including San Marcos, only 15 minutes away! We loved the hotel! It was clean, modern, spacious, and the views from the rooms were AMAZING! Check-in was easy and breakfast bites were included. We were offered free yoga classes and mixology classes, but we were there for a Texas State University graduation and therefore didn’t have time to enjoy them. The pool was lovely although we didn’t have time to swim either! We will definitely be back, and will recommend this place to everyone we know. Oh! Also, the beds and pillows were extremely comfortable! Loved it!

However, the photos per the site were a bit misleading and made the property seem grander than what it actually was. The pool was disappointing and the onsite amenities, while cute, were very underwhelming. Our room was very clean but the motel vibes were unavoidable. It was very overpriced when considering what another property at same price provides.

- Verified traveler (8/5): A relaxing stay! - We had an amazing time! Everything was so clean and easily accessible. Information was clear and we had no troubles with check in. Our only complaint was with the AC. We came in and the unit was set to 80 so we could not sleep our first night because the air conditioning was not cooling the room efficiently. Once we were able to turn the temperature way down, it became comfortable. But this was not an ideal first night being in my third trimester of pregnancy. But other than that, everything was great and a wonderful time.

The owners clearly poured their heart into the space with special details everywhere, and the people that work there do so with pride. My friend and I are from out of state and wanted to get a taste of Texas outside Austin. We made a quick drive down for a one night stay at the Bygone and were blown away by the hospitality and beauty. We joined for a cocktail making class using herbs from the garden and custom-made syrups. And we were lucky to be there for an inaugural farm-to-table dinner. As a remote worker, took note of a comfortable library with a view to work from. Highly recommend for friends, couples, individuals or even small work retreats.

- Robin (10/5): Very romantic and peaceful - Loved the path in the hills. Room was very fun and practical. Would have felt better if someone was around in case something went wrong. Plumbing, door lock. Did not feel safe using the fire pit without some help.
