Guest Reviews
- Graciela (10/5): - This small hotel quaint hotel operates in a very old building full of character. It’s a simple but comfortable and spotless clean. It’s located in the lively heat of Les Marais, bursting with restaurants, small shops, and people.
I absolutely loved it!
- Hailey (10/5): - We were a little bit unsure of the hotel prior to arrival. The bathroom was a little small, but overall such a cute historic hotel in such an amazing location. Walkable to almost all attractions! Staff was amazinggg!!
- Mary F (10/5): Hidden gem close to everything! - We had a lovely time staying at hotel du cygne. It was easy to find from the Metro station and in an incredible location with access to all major Paris landmarks. There was no AC in the room but a very powerful fan so it felt cool and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and always available if you had questions. They spoke in both French and English. Thank you for the lovely stay!
- Martin (8/5): - Rooms are quite small
- Bryan (8/5): - The room was clean and adequate, the location was great, and overall good value. Some noisy quests well after midnight took the edge off
- Beatrice (10/5): - Tutto perfetto. Rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo.
- Harold (8/5): - Close to eateries. Small but comfortable
- Kerry (10/5): - The hotel had a lot of charm, but besides that, the staff were so friendly and helpful; every one of them. That makes a big difference when French isn’t a language you speak. Also, they were always cleaning which showed that they cared about the hotel and the guest’s experience.
- Mary (6/5): - Cute little hotel; but no elevator in the hotel. Very loud at night when sleeping on the street side. Right above a "goth" shop with crazy loud music.
- ROGERIO (10/5): - Foi tudo como o esperado.
- Jennifer (2/5): - The stairs are lethal. It smelt like a drain,
- bernard (10/5): - Acceuil chaleureux, hôtel très propre. Chambre double un peu exigue. Situation idéale.
- Julie (6/5): You get what you pay for... - We have decided that if you don't want to spend a minimum of $400 Can. per night in Paris, then don't expect much. Upon entering the lobby a horrible smell overtook us. When I asked what it was, we were told it was a sewage leak of some sort. I just hoped that it wasn't in our room (which it was not...thank goodness). The room was very small but it was clean. Unfortunately, it was very noisy as the street was directly below our window. As is usually the case, the pictures on the website are quite misleading. The best thing about this hotel is the location. In about 6 or 7 blocks, you are standing on one of the bridges crossing the Seine and can see the Eiffel Tower...gorgeous!
- deborah (4/5): - The location of hotel was very good. Area had lots of restaurants with only people traffic during the day.The hotel was having an issue with sewer smell in the lobby and hallways. Very small shower and moldy. So not the cleanest. Very noisy outside the hotel at night.
- David (2/5): - I did not like the area, the rooms were dirty. No elevator and super high floors that I had to carry my luggage totally unacceptable. For the amount I paid per night for two rooms. Is ridiculous. Would not recommend it to anyone.
- Lorraine (8/5): - Very well located
Small hotel
Very friendly staff
- Ana (8/5): Decent space, good service & localization - Paris is always expensive, especially pre-Olympics, so I knew with a budget trip of one day and a half I had to find something simple and well localized. Hotel du Cygne delivers that, no more, no less - I got a decent small bedroom, reasonably well cleaned with a tiny (I’m 5’7’’ and I kept hitting the walls when showering) bathroom. It’s an old building with lots of carpet so be aware of that if you’re allergic. Breakfast for €8 is not really worth it: stale baguette and croissant with a glass of industrialized juice and some coffee. The free wifi doesn’t work very well. But at least most of people were kind and gave me good local advice and the bedroom was quiet and what I needed to rest between flights.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hyggeligt hotel med perfekt placering - Perfekt placering. Venlig personale. Fin morgenmad til prisen. Hyggeligt værelse
- Richard (6/5): - Shower was very small, otherwise ok place to sleep in central Paris.
- Alla (6/5): - The location is great. Walkable to so much, and metro a quick 3-4 minute walk in the mall.
However, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING, so we were sweating all night long for 3 hot nights. Can't keep the single window open either, since it's over the loud hookah lounge right under us, with people yelling and music blaring till 2:00 a.m. every night. There is a small fan, which just circulates hot air. The window also happens to be directly under a building light, so shines onto the bed in your face, unless curtains drawn shut.
The double room is tiny, just 2 of us could barely turn around, but even that is manageable if not for the odd shaped bathroom, where you sit on the toilet pressed to the wall.
No wash cloths, or tissues, or shampoo/conditioner provided either. One hand towel for 2 people, and two regular bath towels (on the smaller side).
However, the owners are nice and provide good directions. There is always hot water and good water pressure. They vacuum/tidy the room daily. And the location is the most convenient for touring the city.
- Christopher (6/5): - Good location but noisy at night
- Ewa (10/5): - Perfect location and friendly personel.
- Giorgia (8/5): Camera e posizione comodissima, personale gentile - Check-in e check-out velocissimi. Personale sempre gentile e disponibile.
- Michelle (6/5): - The hotel is located in an incredible position with access to the metro, trains, busses and is within walking distance to some many restaurants and attractions.
- Robert (6/5): - It is a charming older hotel with no elevator, and some pretty tight and hazardous staircases with lots of turns on not recommended for people who don’t do tricky stairs well. The area has a lot to offer in terms of cranberries and restaurants, and it is only a three minute walk to the shuttle lay lays all shopping area in transit the room was the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in at a hotel and I have been traveling for an airline for 38 years so that does say something.
- Kashif (10/5): - good location
- Christina (10/5): - Had a great stay. Convenient location. The room was ready extremely early and they allowed me to leave my baggage in the lobby after checkout so I could enjoy the day before my train left.
- M (8/5): Small hotel with central location for culturefreak - Nice little hotel in excellent location. Walking distance to the Louvre, Centre Pompidou, the Pinault Collection, Musee d’Orsay and order important musts. Clean & comfortable in an old house with winding staircases and old beams.
Very friendly staff.
- William (8/5): - Wonderful attentive staff!
- Zoey (8/5): - Really enjoyed my stay! Small but clean and comfortable room with a kind staff in a good area! Only issue is I find it strange that I have to turn my key in every time I left, made me kind of scared of someone going in my room
Quarto atende bem.
- Halldora (8/5): Cozy hotel close to main attractions - Cozy hotel close to restaurants and shops. Very clean room and bathroom, a small TV (ok in beautiful Paris), good breakfast value
- Verified traveler (2/5): STYR UNNA! Kommer aldri til å bo her igjen!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quaint little hotel so close to metro, Westfield, cafes and museums. Bathroom was very small but sufficiently clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Its really accessible to the city and close to shops and mall, close to metropolitan
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): Good economic hotel for a short stay. - The good points were....Central location with many attractions, restaurants and shops very nearby. Very helpful staff who spoke English. Option of good continental breakfast. Excellent value for Central Paris.
Points that may concern some travellers....Very old building with poor sound proofing in bedrooms (which are very small). Bedding could do with being updated.
However for our short stay was overall satisfactory.
- Maria (10/5): Very good! - It is a simple but very nice hotel with plenty of character. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The location cannot be beaten. We really liked the lounge by reception and did sit there. Ideal for leisure travel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The best thing is the location right in the Les Halles area which is a buzzy area with a young and busy feel about it. The second advantage is that the Etienne Marcel tube station (Line 4) is just around the corner and that you are on a quiet street. Those are big plusses.
The downside is that the room was very small. My wife and I are slim but really only one of you could walk around at one time. The bed was small by normal hotel standards for a double. Everything feels quite cheap - there is soap in a packet but it doesn't lather (foam)! The stairs are narrow and you can trip easily. The photo in on-line must be a deluxe room as ours had no room for a chair. But I think small rooms are normal in these old areas of Paris.
The staff are ok. There is a nice sitting room. It was hot at night. The bathroom door would not close.
If you are optimistic by nature you will laugh at the pokey size and think of it as characterful. Another time I will pay a bit more (Paris seems so expensive at this time) and have a more spacious room.
- Karen (8/5): - Very friendly helpful staff.
Good location fair price
Room very small.
- Janine (10/5): Great experience - Great location, clean and very helpful staff. 24 hour desk. Easy transfer from airport. Main metro on doorstep. If visit again would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich. Das Hotel hat Charme.
- Bunyan (2/5): The worse hotel I ever stay. - No air conditioning for 100 degree heat. Rooms is very tiny. No elevator make taking the luggage through the narrow staircase to second floor a challenge.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This hotel is lovely, perfect location next to the metro and lots of restaurants around the area and shopping centre too. The hotel itself has lots of character, the room was clean and comfortable. We were room 26, second floor. I’d definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, reasonable price, very friendy staff, adequately furnished room .
- May (8/5): - The location is excellent, lots of restaurants nearby, a shopping mall and a train station. The louvre and the cathedral of notre Dame can be reached walking.
- JohnE. (10/5): - The location is perfect for both sight seeing and especially for dining out. Staff most helpful, and fluent in English.
- Nauman (6/5): small 2 start hotel - The receptionist during the morning shift was very rude.
He needs to be trained how to behave in the hospitality industry. The manager and other staff was polite & helpful.
- Odd Gunnar (2/5): Horrible hotel - Horrible hotel. When checking in the person in the reception (chinese?) asked for and insisted on cash payment. Although I had already payed for my room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loved our Paris experience and stay - Very great hotel - loved our stay here in Paris
Would definitely stay back again!
Great location - so close to the train station which made it easy to get around Paris. The staff at the hotel were very very nice and helpful all of the time & let us keep our luggage at the hotel for the day of check out.
Very cute interior rooms, the decor was sweet. Thank you very much
- Joel (8/5): Location, Location, Location - The primary reason to stay here is its convenient location in the 1st Arrondissement just minutes north of Notre-Dame. Overall, this hotel was typical of small Paris hotels with cramped quarters, steep shallow stairs, questionable plumbing and electrical. But it was reasonably clean and comfortable, except for the bed which sagged in the middle. My only real complaint is that there is no air conditioning, so there was little option but to leave the window open all night. That charming and convenient location during the day is rather a curse at night, with non-stop motorcycles and other traffic, alcohol-induced vociferous conversations, trash trucks and finally (at around 5:00 am) a serenading drunk rifling through the trash cans looking for treasures. Staff was friendly and accommodating. They offered us early check in so we could freshen up after a day of travel, and they gladly held our luggage long after check-out. They spoke fluent English and were happy to answer all our annoying tourist questions. The only reason I'd hesitate recommending this hotel is because of the lack of a/c. I knew when I booked the room it didn't have a/c, but I didn't know until we spent a night why having a/c is so important: so you can keep your windows closed at night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quaint little hotel, excellent staff but while the WiFi is free it is awful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cold and small - With night temperatures outside about 6 degrees, we were cold inside too since the central heating had been switched off and the radiator in the room was cold - probably to save money. On two separate days we asked for the radiators to be switched on but were soon switched back off.
The bed was so narrow that I fell out while asleep. Bruised but nothing broken.
- Rich (6/5): Small room good location - The building is old but with character. The staff is excellent. A mosquito got in my room and tormented me one night, and in December!, But not be hotels fault.
Nice affordable Petit dejuner.
- ben (8/5): - Quite pleasing. Very nice staff. Comfortable room. Close to a lot of attractions
- Stevin Azo (8/5): Great budget hotel. - Love the location, the staff, and the economy housing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cute little place in a good area - small rooms and a bit older, no airconditioner either! But great little room downstairs to hang out in and staff was very friendly and helpful.
- James (6/5): Good location for Paris touring - Nice location in a pedestrian zone close to shopping, restaurants, museums, sights, and public transportation. Courteous and helpful staff. Very small room. Did not try the breakfast.
- Louisa (10/5): Perfect location, lovely staff - would recommend!! - Great little hotel, unbeatable location right near chatelet les halles (train + mall). Room was very small (as are most hotel rooms in Europe) and quite dimly lit. Bathroom was very basic but clean. Reception staff were very warm and friendly and offered to bring our suitcases up to our room for us! (Small winding staircase with no lift, so this was extremely helpful and they did not have to do that!) It was also our first time in Paris and the reception staff took the time to answer all of our questions and give us advice on what to see and how to get around.
Walkable distance to many sights and attractions in Paris, and very easy transport connections. All in all, unbeatable location with amazing staff. Room was small and basic but if you're a tourist planning on spending most of your day/night our exploring this isn't really an issue!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We liked the location. According to our 25 yr old son, the location was excellent, near major subway station, stores, and major attractions.
- Michael W (6/5): Let down by its location! - The Hotel Cygne is OK! It's I believe overpriced for a two star hotel. Whilst the staff and the manager are friendly the hotel and its location have too many shortcomings too honestly recommend it to others!
- Monish (4/5): Tiny hotel - This is an horribly tiny hotel. The double rooms are so small that it is difficult for two people to move about. The staffs are very good. But the thought of going into the room made me feel sick. Ironically the toilet is of descent size.
- barak (10/5): - What's not to like about this hotel? Perfect location, comfortable bed and rooms with a great staff. No brainer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and convenient but small room - The service was very good and the room clean but it was very small.
- Andrew (8/5): Good value and location - Very charming and nice, especially considering the price. Excellent service. Spotty wifi.
- Yeasun Patty (10/5): Excellent location in my favorite area of Paris - Relatively quiet, thank goodness! Was supposed to get 4th floor room with bathtub based on reservation but because traveling alone and arriving super early, was accommodated to early check in to a smaller room with shower only but on the 2nd floor which worked out better for me because hate lugging suitcase/ climbing stairs. 24 hrs reception always available and assisted me with luggage.
- Nauman (8/5): Excellent stay - Good location. Near Chatelet La Halles station. Lots of restaurants around the hotel. Very good service. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness was really good. Small room but already mentioned on the website. No elevator as it is an old building. No air conditioning but fan was available.
- Oksana (10/5): Beautiful little gem! - Amazing people, beautiful little hotel!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A nice hotel in downtown - A nice simple hotel in Paris downtown. Stylish old-fashion elements in the interior. Walking distance to the old downtown. Food shops and restaurants next to the hotel.
- Michael (10/5): Decent little spot in the middle of everything - We stayed 3 nights here and the hotel staff was very polite and accommodating, they event lent us an umbrella to use on that rainy day. There are no elevators so be prepared to carry your luggage up the spiral staircase. They offer breakfast for an additional 8 euro per person. The room we stayed in had a double bed and was perfect for just my wife and I. I wouldn't suggest staying there with children as it would be very cramped. The street gets a little loud during the night when sleeping with the windows open. We were so wore out from walking during the day that we spelt like babies and it didn't bother us. Overall for the price it was a great place for us. Also there is a metro station right around the corner :)
