- Kurt (10/5): - Rooms are of a modern Swiss chalet sort. On property there is a tap house that has nothing but really good beer from California, Oregon, Pennsylvania micro breweries. There are some quality goods for sale in the lobby, including wines by the bottle.

- Kevin (8/5): Great stay near Graeagle - Our room was clean and comfortable but fairly compact. Location and grounds are great with nice pool and amenities (like a small pitch-and-putt golf course on site). There are no restaurant facilities on site but there is a small Starbucks operation in the hotel lobby.

- Annette (8/5): Nice Room, But Not W/Accessibility Issues - The room was clean and nice, just as other reviews stated. But the beds were very low, difficult for my 80 y/o mother to get in and out of. The stairs were terrifying to go down at night, in the dark. There were 2 uncomfortable chairs in the room, so couldn't sit and socialize, just went up to bed. No tv upstairs, so its read or sleep.

- Nancee (6/5): - Pool was nice and clean. The $18 additional fee which was not noted at check in became a $24 fee on cc after we checked out. We left a telephone charger in the room. After golfing we went back to get it and they indicated that they didn't have it and wouldn't allow us to look in the room even though no one else had checked in yet. And, they wouldn't take our number in case they found it. Also, they have a coffee place but don't have anyone there until 7:30 am. For the price, it's not worth it.
- Daniel (8/5): Good besides room 311 - Property is nice. The tap room is a bonus. The problem with room 311 is the Air conditioner wall unti points right at the bed and is loud. My brother's room was laid out completely different. We book the same style rooms. I could tell that everyone who slept in that room used the right side of the mattress, because it was slanted downward to be as far away from the ac as possible. If I go back I will request a different room. Friendly service and very peaceful. This is Definitely the nicest hotel in the area

The customer service via phone is lousy given I need to get through an AI clerk in order to speak to a real person regarding inquiries. Given the positive reputation of this motel, i expected a lot more from both, the customer service and amenities. I am lucky if I get a room for 3 nights within company budget, but even more lucky if I get a microwave in the room. Please do better. Thank you
- Teresa (8/5): Short visit - The hotel grounds looked nice. The room was nice, and we really liked having the loft for my daughter to sleep in. The blinds could be replaced because the terrace lights went through and were annoying when it was time for bed. The room also smelled like the last person had smoked a lot of marijuana. We loved the body wash; it smelled nice. Maybe consider a microwave in the rooms or the lobby. We had some breakfast burritos, but no way to warm them up, which was a big bummer. We did like having Starbucks on the property.

- Nick (10/5): - Room was small but quite modern,had pad for charging phones,bathroom amenities, clean bright white bedding, all apps for watching t.v(hulu,Netflix) onsite bar/coffee. The only thing i would suggest is to add where the ice machine/soda vending machines are. They give you a check in map(which was super helpful property is large easy to get lost) but we couldnt find the location of the ice machine and feont desk was closed. Everything else was absolutely wonderful. Huge step up from the location down the road which i dont recommend.

- gary (6/5): - My wife and I were one of three occupated rooms and was placed in a room in the back next to the bar. When asked if we could be moved into a more scenic room the gal at the desk said nothing was available. Apparently since we booked online using Expidia she wasn't accomadating. Otherwise our one-night stay was fine. Off season, we were hoping for the hot tub to be open but it was drained along with the pool. Many of the area's restaurants were also closed for the season.

The only reason I thought it was ok to pay that much for a small room was the attached restaurant and bar. You have to travel a few miles to get something to eat.
- Carolina (10/5): Far exceeded expectations!! - It was absolutely fantastic. The room was comfortable, and so cozy with the fireplace while it was snowing outside. The grounds are beautiful. The location is great, and nearby wonderful lakes and walks. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful!!!

The main entrance and check in area has a large sitting area, fireplace and a cute boutique filled with fun items. But really it’s the surrounding nature that was pristine. The walk to feather river was easy to find despite the deep snow. The staff was warm and welcoming. Thank you.

- Greg (2/5): - 1.) Provide a bed that is a normal height and support. The bed you provided was unacceptable and dangerous for a person of my age (66). I slipped on the cow skin rug trying to get out of the bed because I could not get up off the excessively low bed. 2.) The foam bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. 3.) There was no couches or chairs to sit on for an adult. Why? I had to sit on the stairs. 4.) Website is deceptive. The photo makes it look like you can get a view from your room. Our room (214) got a view of the parking lot. 5.) Controller for the heater did not work. 6.) Toilet height is very low. Very hard to get up from. 7.) Tap Room & Brewery....webpage said "Featuring pizzas and tapas inspired dishes that are perfect for sharing that pair perfectly with our unique collection of craft beers". Not. The pizzas were packaged, probably frozen and there were no tapas. Moreover, the pours for drinks were extremely small for the money.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Not What Expected. - Whole property dusty and without paved roads. Small sparsly furnished room. Dusty old cow hide on floor as decor. Low to the ground and old mattress. We found crumpled up tissue inbetween the sheets and trash behind bed end table. Staff okay but seemed understaffed as another guest unhappy because room was not ready at 4pm.

It’s little things ….. like a chair I can’t sit in & ever get out of …. a bed that’s too low …… a toilet that every few seconds makes an annoying “whoosh” ALL THE TIME …… a fan in the heating system that blows cold air until it warms up & then the fan cannot be turned off ….. the TV that does not allow me to turn off CC (closed caption) … I will not go on ….. I just suggest YOU STAY FOR A NIGHT OR SO AS A GUEST …… see if you are happy!!

On-site taproom (limited food) & coffee shop were convenient for remote location with limited dining options 10 minutes away in Portola. Resort fees didn't seem appropriate for this property, especially in winter with pool & spa closed and most other site amenities inaccessible. Room was well-appointed, but standard size.

We were in a frontage road room so the road noise was a little much until we turned on the bathroom fan and ran that for white noise for sleeping. - paul (6/5): Noisy little room - Small rooms. Noisy. Sounded like a truck was driving through the room most of the time. right off of highway 70. I asked about the noise and was told we never have road noise complaints. Find that hard to believe. A/C- heater combo sounded like the old days, noisy as can be. It did drown out the road noise when it was on. We do travel, this ranks up there as one of the noisiest in 20 yrs.

Lame. The area is at a fairly high altitude, and it's very dry there. A few bottled waters would have been nice.

- Daniel (10/5): Graeagle tranquility - I've stayed at this resort half a dozen times over the past 10 years. I like their location, and the property is very peaceful. The little brewery on site makes good beer and some tasty small bites

The front desk staff was quick and efficient. The room assigned to us was handicap accessible so it wasn’t our favorite type of room. Bed was comfortable with a very nice down comforter so staying warm at night without the heater was easy even with evening temps dipping into the 20’s. The TV and heater were controlled by remotes. The in room coffee was a Nespresso machine that wasn’t automatically refreshed. However there is an on-site Starbuck’s coffee bar so morning coffee was no problem but an added cost. The room has a microwave and small refrigerator. This room was a tile floor so having slippers was helpful to keep feet warm. The bathroom was spacious and had fluffier towels than I remember. The parking for this room was a ten step walk. Parking for other rooms can sometimes be a little less proximal but still convenient. The hotel sends text messages reminding you what on site facilities are open (brewery 4-8 pm) and what time the front desk shuts down in the evening. As a winter stay, the site was very quiet and peaceful.

- Raine (10/5): Great place to stay - I was visiting Portola to look at property - the Chalet was a great find - the lobby is really nice, the rooms were comfortable and the fact there is a little brewery on site where you can get beverages and something to eat without having to go into town was a bonus. Also nice roads to walk on in the woods nearby - I would definitely go back! Raine

Was suggest a nice restaurant close by that was dog friendly. Wish I could have tried their local beers, maybe next time.

- allison (10/5): Great Nature Escape - We loved Chalet View Lodge for a nature escape. Very nice staff, beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the pool and all of the games to play onsite like corn hole, volleyball, pool table etc..beautiful grounds.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Lakes Basin Get Away - The hotel is in a great location, only 30 min. to Lakes Basin and 10 min. to restaurants for meals and the staff was friendly. However, the plumbing in our room needs attention (running toilet, very slow draining sink, and the shower handle was loose) and the mattress needs replacing (serious sagging).

They left a package for me which included the keys and other important information. Our accommodations were above average. Very clean, spacious and comfortable. I would recommend anyone looking for a place to stay to make it the Chalet View Lodge. I was very impressed and you will be too.

The bed was so comfy and I loved the down comforter and pillows too. I also loved how we could watch Netflix. We loved our stay at the Chalet it was like our own little studio apartment. My daughter didn’t want to leave lol! She also loved that there was a Starbucks on site!
- Christopher (10/5): Rustic Rooms in the woods - This is my second trip here and it was amazing both times. The rooms are small but extremely nice, the loft in the rooms are also nice and adds some room. Never a complaint from us about this place!!! Off site food is a little way away but if your staying here that really shouldn’t be of any concern as long as you eat before 8pm (bar closes).
- Barbara (10/5): Terrific Stopover - Absolutely loved Mountain View Chalet. Classy but rustic style. Very cool with extra special care taken for guest comfort. Great bed, sheets, towels, nespresso and toiletries. These all make a difference. And we were thrilled with the added bonus of the stunning night sky. Wow!!

- Verified traveler (4/5): - Lovely property and friendly staff, but the photo of the room that we booked on Travelocity, luxurious and spacious with a loft, was quite different from the very small and frankly cramped room we checked into. When we returned to the front desk to inquire, we were told that we needed to pay additional money for the room as pictured and described in Travelocity!?! So we paid a premium price for one of the tiniest rooms we have ever stayed in.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The bed was too low...about 14" off of the ground and hard to get into and out of....the chair in the room was the same condition, too hard to get into and out of...the toilet seat was not tightly secured to the toilet and on one under side the plastic bumpers were missing requiring a replacement seat....the sink was squeezed into the corner and the water facet was too far away from the sink....trying to wash one's hands or toothbrush was a challenge.... It appeared that someone tried for a boutique look and failed to consider a practical way to accommodate guests in needs and comfort....sadley, we will probably never stay there again

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Chalet View Lodge is BEAUTIFUL! I absolutely loved the property and the room. My partner and I stayed in a loft room, and it was spectacular. The views are amazing, and being able to lay in bed with the doors open to the mountain fresh air- what's better than that! The staff was awesome- we had an issue with our TV and they handled it right away. The only thing that wasn't great was the food- it would be amazing if they had an actual kitchen on property, but having a full Starbucks for the morning was great. Highly recommend if you're looking for a romantic vacation or family vacation!
