- Rayford (9/5): Beautiful stay with very little discrepancies - The entire place has a vintage but modern feel. It was clean and pretty. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. It was a fridge and two bottles filled with water with glasses and coasters to use. The bathroom was clean with modern sink, toilet and shower. It has a closet with hangers, iron and a robe for use. Behind bathroom door was a hairdryer. Darkening curtains was available to block out sunlight. Its spacious. It has a desk, table, drying rack and two 3 chairs in all with two inn tables beside bed. I appreciate not having to keep up with a key since guests are giving their own key code to key in to gain access to the room and front door. I appreciate the quiet neighborhood and quiet hours notice on hotel flyer in room that have local restaurants and things to do. Breakfast is fresh with a variety of options. Gary and Malana was amazing. Gary helped carry my bag upstairs and it was heavy. Both of them asked if I had any dietary restrictions and ensured my needs were met. It was a great stay. Its only about 5 minutes from downtown and resturants on every corner. I am hot natured. I asked for a fan and Gary gladly found me one. I was so happy. He also informed me to use umbrellas as needed. Which was great since I didnt have to buy one. Its room in the lounge area. The table set up is beautiful. There were reserved parking in back for some rooms. Most of all, Clean, Beautiful & No Bugs at all. The shower was huge. All staff was friendly and answered all questions. Ready to help attitude. Seemed like family. I see myself coming back even for a short stay as a mini vacation. There was no microwave in the room although there was a fridge. The shower did not spray hard enough, but I managed. Reserved parking a little snug. Its a little pricey this time of year due to Lilac fest and graduations. Keep that in mind.

- Andrew (10/5): Great spot downtown, very comfy bed, great breakfast, wonderful owners. - What a great little place. Gary and Milena know how to treat their customers. I stayed in the Hemlock room which is perfect for 1 adult or 1 couple with the really comfortable king bed. Very very nice bed. I was a solo traveler. Located downtown ROC with a decent parking setup given that it’s literally downtown. I felt my car was plenty safe overnight, I’m sure they have cameras. It has an old fashioned colonial farmhouse feel which is nice, and it was clean. Nice amenities in the bathrooms and a robe as well. Breakfast was homemade in the kitchen and was a nice touch. In a world where hotels treat people like cattle, at least these folks are doing their part to truly rehabilitate the hospitality industry. I will stay there again when I am back in Rochester. It was so nice so I gotta nitpick a little, and this is not a dealbreaker…Maybe the door lock keypads are kinda loud throughout the building. It’s an old building so that sound just amplifies around the wooden staircase.

- Julia (10/5): A hidden gem - The inn was charming and comfortable. The bed was soft and the bathtub was enormous. The owners were very kind and welcoming. The breakfast was spectacular and the highlight of the experience! The location was excellent near park Avenue. My room had a reserved parking spot and that was really helpful!

- Susanna (10/5): This is a great Inn . - The location is perfect and the neighborhood is so pretty, we loved it .There are restaurants that are not a far walk away .The breakfast is so good and you get served it on beautiful China with cloth napkins . The tea is loose leaf and you get your own tea pot . The rooms are comfortable with antiques. We have been once before and loved it so much we came back .We just have to spend more then 1 night next time . Milena and Gary are very nice and make you feel at home . I would definitely recommend Dartmouth House Inn .

- Thomas (9/5): We were very pleased with the Dartmouth House Inn. - As stated in many of the reviews, the breakfast was excellent. The room was comfortable and spacious. The Inn's location in a neighborhood setting but close enough to major thoroughfares for easy access is ideal. I look forward to going back when the weather is nicer for walking around. The tub/shower combination in an enclosure in the Canandaigua room, where we stayed, was a bit challenging for my wife to negotiate. You have to step onto a curb and into a raised foot tub and back out when it's wet. Seems a bit unsafe, even though there is a grab bar on the wall. We would definitely inquire to see if other rooms might have a different bath/shower arrangement.

- Dreamer28913416504 (10/5): Exceptional staff - We had a great stay at the Dartmouth House, especially thanks to the hosts, Milena and Gary. The room was spotless, cozy, and beautifully decorated, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Breakfast each morning was delicious and clearly made with care. The location was peaceful, convenient, and in a very safe neighborhood. It is close to nearby attractions. We’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and charming place to stay.

They were so warm, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast were good. The noise above our room was like elephants walking because of the hardwood floors. We paid much more than it was worth.

- nycresident2010 (10/5): Nice January Visit - We were so happy to spend the night at Dartmouth House! We have been coming here for years, and each visit is like coming home. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a fantastic tiled shower! Breakfast was excellent: crepes with your choice of filling, plus fresh fruit, coffee, and juice. Innkeepers Gary and Milena, who are at this point old friends, are kind and helpful. Would recommend this lovely inn to anyone visiting Rochester. It is conveniently located in the Park Avenue neighborhood near East Avenue, the George Eastman House, the planetarium, and the Museum of the Arts, and if you are intrepid, you can walk to Wegmans. :) We are looking forward to going back soon!
- David (10/5): It was the perfect place to simply relax on Christmas Day in a wonderful days of yore setting. - The Staff was particularly friendly and very willing to discuss the facility and surrounding area. Loved the Antique style and fireplaces. Breakfast was awesome and first class. Location was fantastic for restaurants, downtown and things to see. Not a huge deal, but the Restaurant list was slightly outdated. We found places easily and they were delicious, but had to call all of them to learn hours of Holiday operations. Many of the places were closed and should be removed from the list.

- GreekamericanMom (10/5): A wonderful place to stay when visiting Rochester - We have never visited Rochester, and I am so happy to have found this gem of a property! Rochester House is in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood that is within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and the Eastman Museum. Our room was spacious, comfortable and the bed and linens were luxurious. The best part was the delicious breakfast made and served to us by the sweet innkeeper, Milena. We would definitely return to Dartmouth House!! Thank you, Gary and Milena. Our stay was perfect!
- KMLNY (10/5): Great stay, beautiful neighbor super close to Park Avenue! - In town for a concert and wanted to stay close to experience Park Avenue. The Dartmouth House is a huge old home, lovingly restored, with 8 rooms (I think), tasty breakfasts, a 20 min. walk to Park Ave. (or 3 min car ride) and GREAT communication from the manager prior to arrival. We stayed in the Canandaigua room, a comfortably large king room with a large bathroom too. Nice amenities in both. The towels could use an upgrade but that’s about all I can say that’s less than positive. Plenty of street parking, though watch the signs as to when you can park where. Do not miss Park Avenue with really great restaurants and bars. A great stay at a nice spot!

We had a spacious room on the third floor with a private balcony. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Everything was great.

The door to the room had dust/dirt at the bottom of it. The corners of the bathroom could use a bit of cleaning. Trash should be emptied no matter how much trash is in the can (bathroom trash can had used Q-tips and a clump of hair in it.

- ndhanwatey (10/5): A Charming Stay at Dartmouth House! - We stayed at Dartmouth House for one night while in town for a friend’s wedding, and it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, the hosts were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The house itself is full of old-world charm, beautifully maintained, and located in a quiet, lovely neighborhood that feels peaceful and safe. Our room was very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The breakfast in the morning was a highlight—delicious, home-cooked, and clearly made with care. We also loved their impressive selection of teas, a nice touch that made the experience feel even more cozy and thoughtful. There was plenty of parking available, which made things so easy, and the overall vibe of the house made us feel right at home. Highly recommend Dartmouth House for anyone visiting Rochester—it’s a true gem!

Gary and Milena are delightful hosts and breakfast is always good. Not to mention great French press coffee. We will continue to use them for our downtown evenings!

Melina and Gary were everything you would want as your host. They were welcoming, personable, and their service was impeccable. My daughter and I chose this house to stay in because we were on a family genealogy trip and it was only a few miles from where my mom and dad grew up. I’m so glad we did! Our room was clean and comfortable and we loved our cute updated bathroom with a shower and all the amenities. Breakfast was delicious both days with fresh fruit, quiche one day and crepes the next. So yummy! The neighborhood was well kept and we felt safe at all times. We walked both nights we were there to have dinner on Park Avenue even after dark. I hope to return to Rochester again and if I do I am definitely staying here again! Thanks Melina and Gary!
- barbbirn (8/5): Charming B&B...but it's an old house! - As indicated in previous reviews, Dartmouth House has a great location in a beautiful, walkable neighborhood, it's a charming, restored old home, the innkeepers (who are not the owners) are gracious, friendly, and accommodating, and the home-cooked breakfasts are fantastic. They emailed in advance of our stay inquiring about preferences, and they accommodated every one of them. We booked Dartmouth House in part because they have a Tesla charger, which we were able to reserve for our stay. Unfortunately, it wasn't working when we arrived (they had courteously emailed us a day ahead to let us know, so we wouldn't arrive with a depleted battery). They were able to get it fixed on day two of our stay. Things to know that I didn't see mentioned in previous reviews: (1) The house is centrally air conditioned, but there was no thermostat by which to control the temperature in our own room. It was unseasonably warm our first day there, and it was too hot in the room for my taste despite opening windows. (2) It's an old house with creaky floors. We were in the Keuka room on the second floor, and we heard the squeaking whenever anyone walked up the stairs. We also heard every footstep taken by the guests in the room on the third floor -- squeaky floorboards! The charm of the house and the innkeepers went a long way toward making up for these negatives, but these issues definitely detracted from our stay.

- apR3444TV (10/5): Great option in Rochester NY - Just returned from a three-night stay at Dartmouth House. The house is well-kept and welcoming, as well as in a great location near all the Park Avenue restaurants and activities. It's a short walk to the Science Museum and Center and a very short drive (or longer walk) to the Eastman House and Memorial Art Gallery. Our room, Conesus, was on the second floor - spacious, clean, and bright, with a fully updated bathroom and a shower that never ran out of hot water. The breakfasts were varied and tasty, but what we most appreciated were the innkeepers, Melina and Gary, who were lively, friendly, and attentive to guests' needs. My only minor quibble - I kept the windows open and the outside compression unit for the central air-conditioning was sometimes a little noisy. Overall a great choice and we'd absolutely return!

The staff is wonderful, the cooking excellent but not fussy, and very very attentive to food allergies|intolerances|preferences. A very nicely restored older home, large rooms, good beds. And in a very walkable neighborhood, close to Park Ave with its many restaurants and bars, and to George Eastman House and Memorial Art Gallery. Highly recommended.

My room, with its own keyed lock and an ensuite bathroom, was large, clean, and as quiet as the innkeeper, Gary, had said it would be. After I booked the room, he emailed to inquire about any food allergies and he accommodated them while preparing a delicious meal, served in a delightful breakfast room. I couldn't have been happier with my visit and it's nice to know that I now have a great place to stay next time I'm in Rochester. Thank you!

- JAJ58 (10/5): Beautiful room, beautiful house - Beautiful room in a beautiful house, and very well located in a nice neighborhood, a short walk from the restaurants of Park Avenue and an easy 15-20 minute walk to the George Eastman Museum. Gary was a terrific host and made an excellent breakfast. I stayed in the Hemlock room, and my only negative would be that I found the tub in shower stall to be challenging and odd (I'd recommend taking the glass away and using a shower curtain), but it didn't detract from my stay! I would stay again

Having my vegan dietary needs catered to means a lot, especially since it’s such a rarity in my experience. They went above and beyond to ensure I had a wonderful breakfast each morning. We appreciated the hospitality and the advice on areas to explore and information on Rochester. They were very helpful and personable. We will definitely stay again next time we are in town.

Modern inside, yet antique feel with a very comfortable bed, great food and coffee. Gary was very friendly and helpful. Ample parking in the back and a very nice and quiet neighborhood. Would defintely stay here again if in town. We recommend this B&B to all visitors.

The bed and pillows were comfortable. Even the temperature in the room we reserved was comfortable. It felt like a home away from home. The best part of the stay was the breakfast and the innkeepers Melina and Gary. They prepared great food and delivered great customer care! We highly recommend Dartmouth House for a stay in Rochester!

It was my wife and I’s second visit to this wonderful little bed-and-breakfast. I cannot say enough about how welcoming and comfortable our room was, along with the restful atmosphere of the whole place provided by the hosts. The best part of it, of course, was the wonderful breakfasts that Gary and Melina create and prepare for the guests. Absolutely marvelous.

The breakfast was delicious! The rooms are comfortable and clean. The location is great! An easy and lovely walk to Park Ave where there are lots of restaurants, cafes, and shops. We will definitely be back!
- Robin (8/5): Dartmouth House Review - Our stay there was very nice. Owners were very nice and friendly. Rooms were clean and stocked nicely. The only issue we had was that the house is not equipped for people that are handicapped. My husband broke his hip a year ago and had trouble navigating the stairs. Our first night there we were on the second floor, the second night we were moved to the third floor. He also could not take a shower because he had to climb into a tub to do so. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay there.

- Peter (8/5): Fantastic BnB - We decided to try something different for our trip to Rochester and booked a BnB. It was a delightful stay in a beautiful Park Ave neighborhood. The BnB is within walking distance of the Park Ave restaurants and lots of fun. The staff was delightful, and helpful. The camaraderie with the staff and other visitors was fantastic! The only complaint was the bath/shower arrangement was awkward, getting in and out of the shower was a bit dicey. More safety rails would be helpful. In any case, we'll be back.

For the same price as a brand name hotel you can stay at a small BNB that offers a custom made breakfast, french press coffee on demand and a lovely neighborhood to wander on an evening walk. I highly recommend!

My only recommendation would be to refinish some of the lovely, old wood furniture adorning the bedroom.

- Martha778 (10/5): A Lovely Home - Dartmouth House is a lovely home - very spacious, yet warm and accommodating. There is a large comfortable living area downstairs where family and friends can gather. Our well furnished bedroom was very comfortable, as was the bathroom. It looked like everything was well thought out from the water pitchers to the soft, plentiful towels. In the morning we had a delightful breakfast in their cosy dining area; the hostess carefully attended to Amy special needs. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend this home to others.

- sshapir (10/5): A lovely place to stay!! - My husband and I stayed overnight after attending a Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra performance when we didn't want to drive the 45 minutes home in the dark. The location is easy to get to and from. The room we stayed in was perfectly comfortable and well appointed. We slept well. Breakfast was delicious! I have already booked for the next time we are downtown for the RPO!
