Guest Reviews
- Vanessa (8/5): Wonderful stay - gorgeous forest walk! Fire kept us very warm! - Location, forest and pool N/A
- Sophie (10/5): -
- Belinda (10/5): Great, romantic or quiet getaway where you can engage with nature and lap up the luxuries of quality furnishing and loca - Everything was wonderful and relaxing at Bella Cosa, from the bath with the forest view the s quiet romantic stroll or sitting down to a book, board game or movie near the fireplace. Nothing. All great.
- Marilyn (10/5): Lovely, funky and private - close to everything! - Spacious funky standalone studio, overlooking the bush and sculptures. Had everything we needed and more. All good!
- Adrian (10/5): Ideal central location to explore McLaren Vale and a day trip to Hahndorf. - Great set up for a comfortable stay. Really homely, and enjoyed the forest walk. Will plan to stay there again in the future in one of the other cottages. Great photos on Instagram accurately reflect the character and charm of the cottages. Small washing machine / dryer would be great for a longer stay, but there is a coin laundry in McLaren Vale.
- Leah (10/5): Absolutely loved this gorgeous little cottage, so well equipped and so comfortable! Enjoyed our stay so much. - Beautiful little cosy spot that had everything you needed! Loved it so much. Fantastic hosts with great communication and really went all out to make our stay wonderful. Thank you! Can hear some road noise but honestly it didn’t really matter because everything else was perfect!
- James (10/5): Excellent hosts and great value for money - Location was great. Property was clean and great amenities. Only thing would be a newer/larger TV or a device that could stream off the phone.
- Olga (9/5): We all loved to stay at Bella Cosa. - Mel &Craig are amazing hosts! They allowed us to check-in earlier which was so helpful as our kids arrived from UK and felt very exhausted with the flight. The communication was brilliant: after sending a message you receive the answer almost immediately. The kitchen was fully equiped with all necessary staff: plates, cutlery, pans, etc. Everything was of a good quality as well. The place was clean and looked very cosy.
There is also a path leading to a forest, which belongs to the property. Beautiful short walk. Loved it! There was no mosquito net in the bedroom near the entrance. So we couldn't open the window though it was warm.
But ...we could use a ceiling fan instead.
- Melanie (10/5): Very comfortable -
- Eugenia (10/5): -
- Rachael (9/5): Nice getaway for our anniversary - The property was in a nice area and very private for couples.
The hosts were communicative and left us everything we needed for our stay. The bed was very comfy. The only thing we had an issue with was having no access to internet due to the area. Tried for a while however were unable to gain any coverage.
- Karen (10/5): Cozy and Unique Accommodation while you are exploring McLaren Vale - The perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the wineries of McLaren Vale. We stayed in "The Chapel" and it was so comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed. Thank you for the morning supplies of eggs, ham, granola, bread, and milk. We loved the Nespresso machine with the milk frother. Everything about staying here...from reserving, paying, and checking-in was organized and efficient. Stay in the Chapel at Bella Cosa...It is so welcoming!!
- Craig (10/5): An awesome location which would highly recommend. - We really loved how our host Mel and Craig had the fridge stocked with everything required to allow us to have an awesome bacon and eggs breakfast as that was really the cherry on top for such a wonderfull stay. Our stay at this accomodation was most enjoyable and the only feedback we could offer to improve it would be to replace those bath towels. Unfortunately those bath towels felt like they repelled water weather than absorbing it 🤣
- Iana (10/5): - Это место - рай. Идеально все - чистота, веранда, вид на лес. Полностью соответствует фото.
- Janelle (8/5): Great couple of nights in a good location - Location cleanliness
Ideal size for a couple
- Kerri-ann (6/5): Beautiful place, shame about the owner coming over whenever she wants! - Absolutely beautiful place for my wedding party to get ready and stay at for our wedding. Location was ideal for Hastwell & Lightfoot winery McLaren vale. The owner! We had her bang on the door at 1pm the day after our wedding (2nd day into our 3 day stay) asking about 2 additional cars on the property which was my sons and my husbands. Also peering through the door looking at all our wedding decorations saying your check out at 10am sharp tomorrow!
Completely not acceptable for the owner to invade our privacy, knowing it was the day after our wedding, banging on the door like she did.
Such a shame as it’s a beautiful place but the owner has ruined my experience of Bella Cosa.
- Suzanne (9/5): Very comfortable and well equipped - Well equipped, clean, secluded
The bath was amazing
- Justin (10/5): 4th time back to the property and it never disappoints, will be back next year again. - N/A
- Judith (8/5): - The property is in a great position to visit the lovely boutique wineries in the McLaren Flat area, making it an ideal base for exploring the region. The only small drawback was needing to keep the bathroom blind closed for privacy while the neighbour was working nearby, which meant we couldn’t fully enjoy the view. I believe you can buy double blinds — one being block-out and the other offering visibility out but not in — which could be a useful option.
- Liam (8/5): -
- Mia (10/5): -
- Judith (9/5): -
- Graeme (8/5): Spacious and comfortable - Enjoyed the breakfast.
- Raymond (9/5): Wine lovers - Great position everything you need easy comfortable highly recommend
- Fiona (10/5): Great place to unwind. - Great breakfast, fresh and delicious.
Location is beautiful, peaceful and close to everything.
- Casey (10/5): Peaceful and perfect. - Beautiful property, massive bathroom and beautiful kitchen and living room area. The location to wineries and into town is truly so convenient. I wish we had more time to fully enjoy this special space! Highly recommend.
- Olivia (9/5): -
- Penny (9/5): -
- Jayne (9/5): Absolutely lovely stay with our friends. Located in a convenient spot to tour the McLaren vale wineries. - All the facilities you could think of are provided, a home away from home. The noise from the road during the day.
- Rylee (10/5): It was incredible. We were able to spend quality time together as newlyweds, in a fabulous room! - Everything was spectacular! Handover was seamless with the code. The Chapel is absolutely gorgeous; we were very comfortable and very happy! We can’t wait to come back and stay again Wouldn’t have changed a thing! We did have a pizza and tv pizza box was too large for the bin, so we felt bad not being able to properly dispose of large rubbish
- Karen (10/5): Highly recommend! - Beautiful, peaceful, and clean property. We really appreciated the little touches from Mel and Craig, such as the locally sourced breakfast. There were plenty of utensils and kitchen amenities to prepare meals throughout our stay. The bed was very comfortable, and bonus points for having Ecoya hand wash and moisturiser in the bathroom and kitchen! :) The properties are also in a prime location, with plenty of wineries and restaurants just a short drive down the road.
- Viedt (10/5): - Walking through the pine forest discovering sculptures!
- Shell (9/5): Looking for a special place for a wedding…worked so well for bridal party on the wedding day and a special place for the - The uniqueness… Outside could have been prepared better .cobwebs on the egg chair, and other chairs cleaner and hose pipe in the pool.
- Christie (9/5): -
- Madelyn (9/5): Enjoyed our stay, easy to visit all the places we wanted to see. - The cottage was spacious and well equipped , good location. Kitchen facility was excellent. The BBQ looked ok but needed some work on it. Another toilet would have been good.
- Kiah (10/5): Breathtaking, very happy a perfect way to celebrate our wedding anniversary! - How’s cozy, tranquil, and amazing the views are and the accommodation itself is amazing if your into nature an retro vibes! A must for any newly weds, romantic couples or just couples in general! Very intimate and romantic :) There is nothing to fault
- Vicki (3/5): Disappointing, noisy, not very clean or well maintained - Easy to find, close to McLaren Vale and surrounds, budget friendly. Level of cleanliness of cottage and furnishings poor, maintenance required on cottage (window latch broken, no floor drainage in bathroom, dodgy iron, flyscreens missing), no compendium with appliance instructions (if wifi was available there were no instructions for accessing) - would not recommend the cottage, the other two accommodations on the site may be better.
- Tony (9/5): A very comfortable place to stay and centrally located to MacLaren Vale’s wineries. - Bella Cosa had all the amenities we needed for an enjoyable stay.
- Lisa (8/5): Loved the products used in the accomadation but missing the little things such as a box of tissues 😊 I would stay there - Liked the size The floor was really cold and the lighting in the kitchen super dark
- Robyn (10/5): Thanks yo Mel and Craig for being fantastic host and making Bella Cosa an amazing place to stay - The property had everything you needed to have a fantastic stay Nothing all great
- Alex (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): Very comfortable facilities in a central McLaren Vale location. - Very nicely presented with comprehensively equipped kitchen and indoor/outdoor dining facilities. Having locally sourced breakfast items for the first morning including eggs, bacon, milk, cereals, bread, butter, a selection of spreads and orange juice added to our enjoyment, as did a Nespresso pod machine. Generously sized rooms with space to move and relax. Cozy fireplace and a comfy bed. Not a big deal but the front bedroom is relatively close to a busy road, which might be an issue if both bedrooms are used. We stayed in the back bedroom and didn’t notice any traffic noise so slept well.
- Cassandra (9/5): A quiet and comfortable home away from - It was beautiful and had a perfect location It is only minor but the only mirrors are in the bathroom and next to the bathroom and when 4 people were all trying to get dressed and ready to head out it was tricky sharing the space
- Daniel (9/5): Loved it, perfect retreat and great base for exploring the region - Unique converted chapel but still modern inside. Seperate bedroom on mezzanine. Multiple top class wineries, eateries and walking trails in close proximity. Great overall, definitely enough food but perhaps a little more variety (yoghurt, fruit) to round it out.
- Reece (10/5): -
- Olivia (10/5): -
- Julie (9/5): Lovely relaxing weekend at Bella Cosa - Lovely breakfast supplies, well stocked kitchen and found it very relaxing in evening when we came back from day out . Close to the township and all the wineries
- Paul (10/5): A special, home away from home sort of place that i would recommend to everyone - Everything. Comfortable, well-equipped, convenient location, lovely forest walk behind property, welcome breakfast and tea/coffee supplied
- Sharon (9/5): Superb -
- Gail (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jen (10/5): Beautiful decor, very clean, every detail thought about -
- Paul (10/5): Excellent property and very enjoyable -
- Catherine (9/5): Superb - Host Mel left some breakfast goodies from the area. They were all delicious and much appreciated. Location was great but a car is needed. A beautiful part of the world. Thank you
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): A lovely house in the country - Traditional cottage with great surroundings and on a convenient location.
Really lovely private forest with sculptures throughout
The helpful owners included some nice breakfast supplies.
We really enjoyed being able to have a fire in the lounge room too It is close to the road so you do get a bit of road noise in the front bedroom after around 6am or so. Fine if you are early risers!
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect spot to enjoy the local area & relax in the lovely Gallery. The accommodation had everything we needed, we loved walking in our own forest, sitting on the terrace for a 'sundowner' & coming inside once the sun went to the warm fire.
- David (9/5): Great location with excellent hosts, near McLaren Flat - Great location with easy road access to most places. We were the only group there, there are 3 individual ‘houses’ in the group, so it be a little busy in and out if all were occupied, but plenty of on-site parking, so it should all be good. Mel was exceptional with her communication and making sure all of our needs were met. I also liked the ‘Forrest walk’ at the rear of the property. With a little effort you can also access the vale to flat walk, which appears well used and very walkable. We only did a small section, but a very pleasant way to end the day. Nothing.. but just be aware it is an older property and some external areas need ongoing maintenance.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annette (9/5): Superb -
- Denise (10/5): Perfect for a weekend getaway for our wedding anniversary. - Communication with the host was super easy and the guest questionnaire with the link to the property website was excellent.
The complimentary breakfast items were delicious and all sourced from local producers.
Loved the bathroom with the bath with a view and huge double shower. Even TV in the bathroom!
Location was perfect and loved the setting, nestled into the trees.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Jono (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect little cottage with lots of space for a family of 4. Thoughtful touches with breakfast. A great granola also on offer.
Black out blinds to keep you tucked up in bed and well rested. Location to wineries perfect.
Would love to stay again Can't fault it.
- Nunn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tam (10/5): Great stay, the welcome app was brilliant and allowed a special weekend to be just what we wanted. - Unique property but very well set up with everything needed Nothing
- Jock (8/5): Cosy country hamlet - The layout and facilities suited us perfectly. The breakfast left for us was plentiful and extensive, which was welcomed.
The log fire in the living room gave a comfortable, homely feel, and the air-conditioning warmed the whole house effectively. A very snug cottage, well-located for access to all the food and wine venues in the area.
- Cassandra (10/5): The perfect base for a McLaren Vale holiday - So welcoming, great facilities, so clean and comfortable. Great instructions for check in and out that were simple and easy to follow. The breakfast provided was a lovely touch as well to showcase local produce. NA!
- Kim (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay, great place to relax and unwind. - Everything was great! Loved the outside pool area.
Clean and tidy! Great location
- Pauline (9/5): Superb -
- Shirley (10/5): Amazing stay in The Chapel - The Chapel was Amazing! The bed Comfy the Pool lovely and Relaxing the Breakfast got us started for the day!! The little extras like the Ecoya bath and shower products amazing. The walk in the Forrest was fun and great to sit and see the sunset. The hosts were very obliging . Definately will be back for more 😊 Maybe an umbrella over the chair near pool but that’s getting picky when you can sit undercover but slightly further away.
- Justin (10/5): Relaxing, rejuvenating, peaceful can not think of a better setting to unwind and recharge our batteries. - Everything, what is there not to like….
Location is fantastic and really love walking thru the woods. Pool & private courtyard were utilised fully. Have now stayed here in 2024 & 2025 can’t wait to come back next year. N/A
- Sally (10/5): Cosy and perfect for a couple - What a gem, the pool was sublime in the heat and the facilities including breakfast perfect.
We will def be back
- Gregg (9/5): Superb -

- Pamela (10/5): Beautiful place to relax by the pool and enjoy wine from the local wineries. - It’s a beautiful chapel with great ambience and character. The breakfast provided is amazing from local produce. Nothing. Everything has been thought of!
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Beazley (9/5): Perfect for couples wanting to explore such a beautiful place - It was tastefully furnished and very quiet. Breakfast items were all locally sourced and great quality. Will be back Nothing
- Alissa (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (9/5): Lovely short stay property - Good breakfast provisions and a very comfortable bed Some smaller coffee cups would have been appreciated.
- Pitre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christian (9/5): Perfect accommodation for a weekend stay in McLaren Vale -
- B1aus (9/5): Comfy, homely stay - Really well located in the throng of the vineyards, easy access across the Fleureiux. n/a
- Chris (10/5): A wonderful place for a getaway! - Bella Cosa gave us a fantastic getaway that exceeded our expectations. The styling was both practical and interesting. The bathroom was amazing with the double rain head showers and the luxurious bath looking out to the forest. The kitchen was well provisioned, and our dietary needs were catered for on short notice with gluten free breakfast supplies. Perfect location with everything being so accessible. Thank you!
- Dale (10/5): We had a lovely stay. We spent a great anniversary with lunch at D’Arrenberg and the Cube. - Great ambience and feeling of space. Great location to get to surrounding attractions. Staircase upstairs is a little tight. It would have been great if it was warm enough to use the pool
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (8/5): Perfect McLaren Vale hideaway. - A really lovey stay, great breakfast provisions and a beautiful courtyard. Fire place was a lovey addition and plenty of wood available. Road noise was a little loud, but we used the back bedroom which was better.
- Sharon (9/5): A great few days in a fabulous setting with accommodation exceeding our expectations. - The property was clean, bright and welcoming. The setting was great, quiet but not too far from the local town. the breakfast supplies were adequate and check in and out was efficient. nothing
- Tanya (9/5): Superb - It was very quaint!
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional - Everything The open shower
- Munoz (8/5): Very good - Kitchen setup and equipment. Comfortable lounge and nice decor. Entry not inviting
- Nicole (6/5): Nice spot, could be cleaner - Well equipped with everything you needed in kitchen (cutlery, kitchen accessories, coffee pods, glassware etc.), nice breakfast provisions from local suppliers (great butter!) and location was close to everything we were visiting around McLaren Vale Cleanliness did not meet my expectations - bedroom was dusty (visible dust all over walls, bedhead, lamps etc.) which exacerbated my allergies; sheets didn't smell clean; bedroom lights are very dim, and living room light too bright to sit under on the couch. Hot water ran out on out last morning so unable to shower before our event, received a disappointing response from the owner that they weren't aware that both gas tanks were empty (this should be checked before people stay).
- Lauren (9/5): Cosy, comfortable little getaway! - Loved the breakfast provisions provided, lovely home, comfortable and great little courtyard!
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yvonne (10/5): Exceptional - We enjoy our stay, at Bella Cosa in the Chapel. It is perfectly setup for a relaxing stay.
It was very easy to go to the wineries & restaurants in the area. We also loved the Rojina McDonlad books with the history & the recipes of the Fleurieu.
We would definitely stay again in one of there 3 cottages.
- Andrew (9/5): Good location, nice private property and comfortable - Good amenities, good location in the heart of the McLaren Vale. Pool was too cold to swim in 😝
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
