Guest Reviews
ściany w pokoju do odświeżenia, basen i wejscie do niego do umycia (całe w ptasich odchodach). Śniadania marne, codziennie to samo, mały wybór, brak warzyw
- chrisvma (10/5): Amazing hotel and location - The hotel was in a perfect location. There were five or six restaurants right on the street as well as a couple of coffee bars.
The staff not have been more accommodating. They were all very friendly specifically Pedro at the front desk and Vanessa the breakfast manager. The free plentiful breakfast was an added bonus. The hotel had free parking as well. Our room had a terrace and was basically a 750 sq. ft. apt. With full kitchen amenities. I highly recommend!!
- Debra Lime (10/5): - Wonderful staff!! Great location and convenient parking garage next door!
- Thomas (10/5): - Perfect location, very helpful staff, clean rooms
- Cara (8/5): - Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was clean; bathroom smelled a little musty, but it's an old building. Breakfast was pretty basic. We were "upgraded", although we had purposely booked a room with a terrace? Apparently the room we booked would have just been a twin bed, although it did not read that way on Expedia.
Area was very walkable with lots of dining and shopping options.
The POOL...unusable as it was taken over by pigeons. Pigeons in the pool, around the pools...which means bird poop everywhere.
- K7965QQjoannec (8/5): Good Enough - Brief one night stay here but good enough room. Paying extra for a terrace was worth it for some fresh air although it’s enclosed by walls so a little claustrophobic. Bathroom could do with better maintenance as shower tiles had black mould on them. Although we’d paid for breakfast we had to leave too early so took the packed breakfast instead. This wasn’t great, soggy sandwiches and croissants. Excellent location.
- sk8gigi (10/5): Exceptional!!!!!! - Outstanding service by Sofia M and her Guest Relations Team!!!! Room spacious and the Balcony was an added bonus. Caring and helpful staff thruout......quaint location and close to everything, easy walk to the Marina and shops and the street the hotel is located on hosts some great restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff, they take care of every detail.....they made our stay an amazing experience, beautiful island, Ponta Delgada has been on my wish list and it did not disappoint. Thanks again.... Gigi & Shawn K. - Boston- USA
- shawn (10/5): - Exceptional room.....private, spacious, clean and the Balcony was just perfect to capture the views.
- Eiichi (10/5): - Convenient location for sightseeing tours.
- Fernando (10/5): Happy holidays - Good location the staff was amazing Sofia was great she help us with information.
They provide park for my rental(smal car only ahahahah)
All good
If go back to ponta delgada gonna be my stay
- David (6/5): - difficult parking, call them for directions and dont follow google maps
- Maureen (10/5): - Breakfast and parking were convenient. The wine and the poetry on the carpet were lovely.
- Ceri (2/5): - I didn’t sleep for more than an hour as you could hear bar noise until 4am every night. I asked to change rooms but they were apparently full. They said they’d move me up a floor but still at front of hotel so didn’t see the point. I did request a quieter room when booking. Car park was full when we arrived and when we did get a spot, it was almost impossible to park. Awful. I was exhausted as I didn’t sleep a wink. Actual hotel and staff were nice though. Made me cut my holiday short and book a flight home as I was exhausted.
- Oleksandr (10/5): - Very nice place at the historical center of the city
- John (10/5): - We REALLY enjoyed staying at the Casa! Sophia directed us to a different room on nights 2 and 3 and we couldn't have been happier with her recommendation.
She and the rest of the staff are delightful. Breakfast was lovely and gave us a super start to our days.
- Margaret (8/5): - Good location very central location
- Ian (10/5): - It was great for our purposes.
- britchick73 (8/5): Lovely stay - This is a nice mid-range hotel, well situated for exploring Ponta Delgada. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful (including arranging a taxi and take away breakfast on the day I had a very early flight). He only drawback is the noise from the local bar, which had loud music and raucous singing until 2am on Sunday morning.
- Chad (10/5): - Awesome
- Martha (8/5): - This hotel was great except for the breakfast which was lacking.
- Benjamin (10/5): Excellent for a longer stay in PDL - We stayed in the 4th floor suite which had not one but two terraces. The room was huge, comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchenette with induction hob and microwave is useful for preparing meals in the room although we think the fridge didn’t work unless you have the key card in the room for electricity. Nicely decorated as is although some more colour/wall decorations would make the place feel a bit more lively. The reception staff are friendly and helpful, especially when we asked them to book the excellent spa with jacuzzi. Breakfast was nothing out of the ordinary but fine. Location is very convenient right in the centre of PDL with many bars and restaurants around.
- Hassan (8/5): - Good place for family with friendly and helpful staff
- Kenneth (10/5): - Great hotel right in the centre of the town. Sophia was a great help at the desk too with getting us reservations and calling us cabs. The hot tub and sauna was by reservation which was nice so you get it all to yourself. And theres a nice cafe and bar across the way from the hotel so you can get a close final drink for the night.
- Donald (10/5): - Walking distance to many great restaurants. Great free underground parking. Great central location to explore the island. Staff are fantastic and the breakfast was very nice.
- Michelle (10/5): - We felt very welcomed upon arrival. We were given a beautiful room that was clean and everything in the kitchenette was working. The room has it's own control for air conditioning etc. in comparison to other hotels that are controlled on a main system that changes over to heat seasonally and if it's still hot, too bad. Every morning my hot drink was left on our breakfast table while I was up getting my food. This started after the first day. Every reception member was kind and helpful. At any moment we needed assistance, they were always there for us. The location is great. It is only a couple of blocks from the ocean, a block to the "main drag" with churches, shopping and restaurants. We appreciated the parking garage. We arrived Saturday but couldn't get a card for the garage until Sunday after other guests checked out so we were a bit stressed that first night as to where to park. We found a free spot on the street about 10 minute walk away. The garage is difficult to navigate but with patience you have a free secure spot right at your hotel. We rented a car for 8 of 9 days in Ponta Delgada but could have had a car for only half the trip as the area is very walkable. You do need a car for the sights but tours offered by the hotels are fine too. The spa room is amazing, having a private hour was ideal. Our only complaint would be the breakfast. Only 2 hot dishes, always scrambled eggs and something else, mostly sausages which we don't eat and the rest was the same daily.
- William (10/5): - Brry nice with an excellent location.
- Werner (10/5): - Very nice acores is beautiful
- Ann (8/5): - Excellent location, but limited breakfast
- Ash (10/5): - Very hospitable and welcoming attitude. Good space in the room, very clean and free parking. Walkable to all the main areas for shopping and dining.
- Linda (10/5): - Good size room. Good location.
- Karen (10/5): - What a gem! Beautiful and very clean hotel. So convenient and comfortable. The staff is exceptional!!! We loved the decor as well. This hotel exceeded all of our expectations! It's fantastic!
- Donald (10/5): - Very central location and the staff are great.
- Cristina (8/5): - Cozy suite with kitchen and spacious dining/living room but breakfast was so so and toilets a bit dark but clean.
- Ariston (10/5): - The stay experience overall is good. Perhaps better breakfast options
- Arthur (10/5): - Hotel is ideally located and is great value for the cost. There are lots of dining options in the area and plenty of sightseeing. The staff is super friendly and only too willing to accommodate your needs. Rooms are quite comfortable, modern and clean. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
- Jennifer (8/5): - The property was downtown ponta Delgada and was within walking distance to restaurants, stores, etc.
there is a “fitness center” but the work out equipment is antique, there are no wipes or towels or water.
The parking is in a garage but is very difficult to get into and out of as it is located on a pedestrian street and is extremely narrow to enter and exit.
- Sally (10/5): - Great staff
Great location
- Andrea (10/5): - Parking and breakfast included. Location is excellent.
At breakfast could be more variety and local fresh ingredients, not the same day after day.
- James M (10/5): All around great - Perfect local for Ponta..comfortable with decent gym and okay buffet
- Tamara (10/5): - We had a terrace room that was spacious and inviting. The kitchenette allowed us flexibility in dining and keeping snacks( read cheeses) cool. Staff was super friendly and although steep and tight the parking garage was a huge bonus.
- Rose Mary De (6/5): - Great central location, accessible to shopping, restaurants, and sights. Downside is the local bars will keep you up until 2am.
- coline96 (10/5): Wonderful small hotel - My wife and I had a wonderful stay! The receptionist, bartender, and coffee shop workers were so nice and friendly.
The hotel is in a great location on a quiet street. I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends.
- Harry (10/5): - Hotel is well located in the center of Ponta Delgada couple of minutes from city gates. Property is well maintained, has garage (but challenging to get in and out and suitable for small cars). Rooms are good size, some kitchen amenities provided (water, tea, coffee, microwave, bottle opener, glasses, etc). Staff is very helpful. Breakfast is included
- Tyke4 (10/5): An ideal Ponta Delgada base - Enjoyed a superb eight night stay at this centrally located, welcoming friendly hotel. Superb comfortable accommodation, king size bed, free spa and great service, capped with a bottle of fizz on my wife's birthday. One minor issue is the lack of variety in the daily breakfast menu, which could be easily remedied, but overall highly recommended.
- BRAD (10/5): Ribeiro Hotel is wonderful - It was a great stay. I was thrilled to have parking. The parking is hard for some drivers. I prob wouldn't stay back in PDL but this hotel was great cause the street is on is lively but the windows stop all noise. Fun spot!
- michaelh476 (10/5): Great hotel, SUPER location - This place is GREAT! I can't say enough good things about it. The location is absolutely fabulous. Its right in the middle of town. Super easy to walk to lots of places. The rooms are a great size and the kitchenette in the suites was very useful. The staff was delightful and very helpful. We were a group of 10 people and they constantly helped us with restaurant reservations and such. They even helped us with a whole bunch of towels when we took a trip to the hotsprings! The hotel bar is quite fun. It has indoor and outdoor seating. And you even get parking!
If you are going to Ponta Delgada, your search is over. This is where you want to stay.
- FB18081 (8/5): Great, especially for families/couples. - Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. The location was great, the room was large (and the balcony was really nice for evenings), and we appreciated the hotel having parking (although the garage is a bit treacherous). It was also nice to have breakfast included (although I agree with other comments that I would have expected much better fruit, given the location/local production). One thing to watch out for: our room at least just had a slatted door for the bathroom, which wasn't great for a pair of friends. Would definitely recommend watching out for that depending on your group situation.
- 964philipm (8/5): A good stay - The hotel was clean and surprisingly quiet given its central location.
The blue and white color combination throughout was a nice design choice.
The bed was on the hard side, but was actually two beds pushed together so you can fall into the canyon in the middle of the night.
The breakfast was ok, the variety of items was the normal selection but it wasn’t very tasty.
There is a Spa area that you can reserve access in one hour time blocks. It’s a hot tub, sauna and steam room that also comes with shower and bathroom. The steam room was more of a stink room and so not usable.
There is a rooftop pool that was nice.
Parking-The listing says that there is free parking but in reality it’s not accessible (at least when I was there) because of random street closures that meant that the street in front of the hotel was inaccessible to cars and I had to park a couple blocks away. On that note a warning that the dense urban center is tough to drive around because of very narrow streets, one ways, and random street closures meant that google maps was nearly useless for navigation that I just got frustrated and parked the car and then walked the rest of the way to the hotel.
My room, number 101, had a silly design flaw in that the bathroom walls were glass and so anyone else in the room can see you in the shower or sitting on the toilet. There is fogged glass that only goes 1/2 way up but that doesn’t really address the issue of seeing you or hearing bathroom noises.
- Anita (10/5): - Hotel was very nice and clean. Beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed all facilities including gym and lounge area. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay very much.
- Fusun (10/5): - If i ever go again to Azores, i’d again stay in this hotel Casa Hintze. The staff was excellent.
- 281carmenc (8/5): Stay in the heart of Ponta Delgada - We are staying here in May 2023.
The hotel has 3 stars.
Is super clean, service is super nice.
Location is amazing smack down in the centre of the city close to restaurants, shopping and the walk on the water.
They have a small outdoor pool but it’s not open yet.
There is a very tiny gym and a hot tub.
Parking is included if you rent a car.
The only thing is so so is the breakfast.
The bread is always steal and everyone is touching it (I guess hoping the next piece is softer)
There are always eggs and a second dish - one day beans, one day mushrooms.
Some cheese, ham, marmalade. You can get a decent meal but not very tasty - like all the food here in Portugal so far - just bland.
But the coffee is to die for
You order any type and they make it for you. Very delicious.
- Victor (8/5): - Nice and quiet
- Jennifer (10/5): - Front desk and other staff very helpful. Great central location with a kitchen.
- Loreen Marie (10/5): - Beautiful small hotel. Both the Sofia's at the reception desk were so helpful and friendly. Ideal area to walk to everything. The "spa' was great. There was a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna which you booked for free so that it was private. Breakfast was included as well. Definitely would stay again and recommend.
- Tom (10/5): - Very nice comfortable hotel with a nice private terrace. Driving in Ponte Delgada is challenging and getting in and out of the parking garage here is very difficult even with a very small vehicle. Also the street is blocked half way down, and Google Maps will try and take you up the street the wrong way as it thinks it's one way. You must enter and exit the street from the north for Hintze's parking garage.
- F5750LGcharlesh (10/5): A great choice in the Ponta Delgada - We stayed a week in March, 2023. We LOVED this hotel. The location cant be beat and the staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks to the two Sophies. We upgraded to a suite (101), which was large, had an almost full kitchen and best of all a large private garden attached. The rooms were separated by a fold-out divider to help late sleepers and early risers. The spa is reserved by the hour due to COVID, so you have it all to yourself.
Breakfast was okay, but got a little stale after one week. I really appreciated the off-street garage parking but be aware the entrance is very narrow and steep. I had a Smart Car and had no problem, but my friend had a Peugeot Clio and hit the side.
Finally, it is very hard to find this hotel, DO NOT trust your Google Maps due to one-way streets and construction closing roads.
When you finally find the right street, it looks 100% like a pedestrian street with local bars and cafes having tables and chairs out in the cobblestone street. You can wind around them to reach the hotel. Check Google Street view before you go to see what you can expect. We would definitely stay here again.
- jfloss36 (10/5): Lovely Boutique Hotel - I loved this boutique hotel! The staff was wonderful, rooms very well appointed and comfortable, great breakfast, and very good location. The lobby was just charming, and the lobby bar and outside seating were great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Linda (10/5): Wonderful stay - Wonderful people working at the Hotel
- Vicki (10/5): Hintze prints - We were greeted by friendly staff. Quick check in and helpful recommendations. Nice breakfast. My friend requested an extra blanket which arrived quickly. The hotel and room had modern and fun decorations. I really liked the personalized wallpaper. We really enjoyed our stay.
- Paloma (10/5): - Such a wonderful stay. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean, cute and had everything we needed. Loved the cafe/ lobby bar. Thank you for such a great experience!!
- john (10/5): - Close to everything in the city centre. The pool was closed - but that was to be expected in December!
- jjlebelle (10/5): Hotel Casa Hintze Ribeiro is superb in all aspects. - We always enjoy our stay at Hotel Casa Hintze Ribeiro. We have been visiting this hotel since 2017. The Casa Hintze Ribeiro family is always pleasant, cordial and accommodating. The location is superb.
We would suggest Casa Hintze Ribeiro to all who visit and stay in Ponta Delgada.

- Eric (10/5): Excellent hotel with amazing staff - This is a great hotel in a great location. Our room was spacious with comfortable beds and a great shower and bathroom. We did not end up using the pool because our days were action packed and we swam in the ocean and hot springs instead. But it looked great and had a nice sitting area. The continental breakfast was a great way to start the day. Every staff member we encountered were very friendly and accommodating. 10/10 would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Ponta Delgada. We hope to be back one day soon and will look to stay here.
- Emma (10/5): Comfortable and well-located - Beautiful large room with bathroom suite. Very comfortable bed and in-room amenities of fridge and microwave. Appreciated the free on-site parking garage (though missed the road a few times, as it doesn't like it should be possible to drive down!). Unfortunately didn't get time to visit the pool, spa or gym, but the room was wonderful. Breakfast was lacking in vegan options. Perfect location in the middle of town. Very quiet as soon as I closed the window.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Highly recommend for great location to city center and helpfulness of staff. Room was very clean.
- JARmad (10/5): 1st time Visiting Ponta Delgada - Hotel is great! Welcoming and friendly staff (especially Sandra) whom we had more contact with. Room clean, spacious, well decorated, convenient walking distance to center of town, restaurants, shops, cafes, taxi stands, tour pick up and drop offs, tourist office, banks surrounded by historical buildings. Hotel highly recommended and would stay again if the opportunity arises!
- Eyad (10/5): - Excellent location very close to the city center and the boardwalk
- Denise (10/5): - Second stay at this wonderful hotel. AMAZING location.
- Atoll0808 (8/5): Does the job - My children (12 and 14) and I stayed in one of the suites for two nights. The room is charmless but large, clean and there is a small kitchenette and fridge, well-equipped if you want to cook which is very handy.
I wish the hotel had told us there was an all-night festival on our first night (day of our arrival on the island) which meant no restaurant had a table and noise was high.
But otherwise they were friendly and willing to help.
- Susan (10/5): - This is a lovely urban hotel in a great location with an included parking garage right beside the hotel. You can walk all over the city from here. Great restaurants very close and lots of outside cafes. The whole city is safe and accessible by foot.
The hotel is very clean, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are good sized and well air conditioned (it was warm our time in August) and the staff is friendly and accommodating.
About the only negative thing I can say is that the included breakfast is not up to the standards of many European hotels---but at least as good as most American hotels, meaning that most of the food is prepackaged and not fresh. But, there is a good variety of fruit, yoghurt, cheese and breads/croissants. And, there is tea as well as coffee.
I would stay here again!
- marianY9228TE (10/5): A One Night Perfect Stay - I received a reservation notice via email one week in advance preparing me for the stay. Was greeted warmly at reception and all paperwork was in order. Beautiful room, nicely decorated. Comfortable bed. Lovely deck overlooking the city. Centrally located. Good coffee. When I checked in, I asked for a taxi for the next morning at 8:30. Sandra did not forget. My taxi arrived promptly but not until I had enjoyed the delicious included breakfast.
- Lara (10/5): - Welcoming and helpful staff, great terrace views. I’d stay there again!
- maria (10/5): - I did like everything about it
- Susan (10/5): Azore - Nice hotel in a central location. The reception/check in was pleasant and the lovely lady assisted us with securing taxi and answering all our questions
- Johnny Francais (10/5): - We loved the uniqueness of the hotel. The breakfast nook area was reserved for us for the four days. We felt like special guests. Thank you. The vast arrangement of books and pottery display was wonderful. The service was very friendly as well. We will return.
- Mary (10/5): - Well designed property right in town.
- Brendt (10/5): Great stay - Service was excellent. Great staff very helpful
- Juliet (10/5): Amazing - Amazing hotel! Will definitely be back. Very clean, customer service was amazing as well. I’m the perfect location! Absolutely amazing!
- Henriette (10/5): Perfect spot - Loved this hotel; great location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms and roof terrace. I highly recommend it
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good hotel that's located close to the main attractions in the city. Parking is good but hard to access and sort of tight. The free breakfast made us both feel kinda gross. Clean rooms and an amazing staff made up for this though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Casa Hintze Ribiero. The big pros were the friendly and helpful front desk, great location, unique lobby, and stylish outdoor courtyard/pool. The only con was that the bathroom wasn't completely closed off from the rest of the room.
- nancy (8/5): - staff were lovely--always present and willing to help with directions, dining suggestions. Loved the sauna and steam rooms! Centrally located.
- Naomi (10/5): Great hotel for first visit to the Azores - Great property, extremely helpful staff. Room was comfortable and well maintained. Hotel is located in the center of town and the waterfront. Lots of great restaurants nearby.
- Matt (10/5): - This is a great little boutique hotel will any and all amenities you could ask for.
The staff was friendly, rooms were clean and the main level is full of character. The bar/coffee shop serves great drinks and a wide selection of coffees and treats.
The terrace on the second floor, and the one attached to the room were great as well. Perfect for sitting outside and having Portugese wine.
The only criticism I had was the mattresses. They weren't the most comfortable.
Would definitely stay again.
- Emilia (8/5): - Hotel is centrally located in the old city. Near the 3 arches. Clean, great service, breakfast breads, local cheese, fresh fruit etc. bathroom modern shower stall ok tight area for sink. Overhaul enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The decor was modern and it was a central location
- Anastasija (4/5): - A very average bed. Sub-par cleaning. Parking - a nightmare experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location can’t be better; the staff were great, we’ve benefited from an evening with local singer performing fado - very unexpected addition to a lovely stay in the hotel.
Unfortunately, the pool was not too clean with pigeons feathers - did not decide to use it. The hotel seem to have some plumbing issues - the water in the shower and in the sink takes a lot of time to drain. But everything is very clean; breakfast very fresh and tasty with local cheese and jams.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Only thing we did not like was the pool area had quite a lot of bird poo around it and bird feathers in the pool, Im sure the hotel will resolve this.
Would not let that put us of going there again, the rest of the hotel facilities was very good, and the staff very friendly and helpful.
- PAULV (8/5): - Located very close to main square, restaurants, boutiques, cafes, shops and mini markets. Within walking distance to hop on and hop as well as mini train. Good public transportation nearby. A few minutes away from the Aerobus stop on the main street. Very friendly staff, very good breakfast. Bar/cafe on premises. Pool and wading pool, hot tub and gym. Large room and bedroom with good lighting levels. TV and safe, mini kitchen. Separate toilet, wash basin and shower. Parking next door. Drawback: located on a side street with little or no traffic, a lot of street noise from the restaurants and bars nearby till early in the morning. Even with the windows closed, this was a nuisance. Overall a very good experience. Recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, quite, quaint. Close to everything in central Ponta Delgada. Highly recommended!
- Pam (10/5): Great Getaway - Beautiful hotel perfectly located in the center of town. Breakfast came with the room and was delicious. The hotel had a restaurant and the food and drink were excellent.
- Simon (10/5): Fantastic and recommended stay - A lovely hotel with great staff in the heart of Ponta Delgada. Walking distance to everything. Very clean, awesome concierge service. Couldn't be happier.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is hard to find unless you can read Portuguese. It is located on what appears to be a pedestrian street, but it is OK to drive on it to get to the hotel. We were fortunate that a parking space was available in the garage. Better directions and instructions should be provided at the time of reservation.
Staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Location is excellent for walking the city, but with a car, it is easy to get to points of interest in the central and western portions of the island of Sao Miguel. The airport is only 10 to 15 minutes from the hotel if you know where you are going.
Room is more than comfortable.
- SZ (10/5): - Very unique hotel. Room was great and very clean!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was located great for walking to waterfront, marina, dining, shopping etc Sophia and everyone at the front desk were wonderful, very helpful and courteous all the time. Breakfast and coffee were very nice, pool and jacuzzi were also nice. Room was very nice size and the setup worked well for me and my two children. I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful staff Great location Would highly recommend!
- Magida (8/5): Excellent boutique hotel. Great service. - Excellent small boutique hotel. Great service. Right in the historic centre, and with parking.
No negatives, but the car park does need Houdini to get into and out of it. And the lobby area / bar doesn’t have real food, just very simple snacks, which is a pity.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We rented two rooms for nights in July 2019. All of the staff were fantastic, they provided directions to hiking locations, made dinner reservations for us and were kind and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The water pressure in the showers was fantastic. The morning continental breakfasts were very fresh and provided a good variety of choices. The parking garage was extremely helpful on the narrow streets in Ponta Delgada.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent hotel in the central Ponta Delgada. The staff was very helpful. Will definitely stay there again.
