- Denzer (9/5): Planning to stay again! - Paid for breakfast was delicious. The portions were well sized at all of the meals. The room was clean and comfortable as well. It was a bit confusing to understand what was included in the stay and what wasn't. Other guests, as well as information online, provided conflicting experiences regarding lift fares and the inclusion of breakfasts in stay fees. I think it would be helpful to have included amenities and the process to access them explained in a reception pamphlet when checking in. The other information gained at reception was excellent and the staff was very kind and engaging.

The views were beautiful, food was great and the hot tub was so relaxing. We loved the conscience of nearby attractions and places to dine. We will definitely be back!

They even made our dog, Billie feel right at home! We spent the days on the mountain bike course and our evenings soaking in the hot tub. I would recommend a fall stay at Highlands to anyone!

No support in the middle so we had to hug the edge every night. Not comfortable at all. This information needs to be put into the room description. Also, our "patio" had bushes and trees that were so overgrown that it was not usable. You can tell they have let the resort begin to run down as it is dated, and the rooms need modernizing. The BED

- Luis (6/5): Disappointed - It was a beautiful location in the middle of woods/forest. Staff was very nice and accommodating. There was a full kitchen with a cooktop, microwave, refrigerator and sink. There was also with plates, utensils, etc. The bathroom was nice and spacious with double sinks and walk in shower. There is a balcony you can walk out on to look at the resort grounds. There are 2 TV's, one in the living area and one in the bedroom. The room was a disappointment for the price. We thought we were getting a beautiful suite but it was a mediocre 2 room suite. There was a Murphy bed (basically in the kitchen) and a pull out couch in the living area and an incredibly uncomfortable bed with no support whatsoever in another room that we had a hard time sleeping on. The chairs around the kitchen table were very low and you sunk into when you sat down. For the money we paid we also thought we would be staying in the upgraded accommodations they have on the resort grounds and not in a hotel room.

- Letsgobucks (8/5): Overall wonderful experience - Rooms at the main lodge were fantastic but we did have to switch with the couple we went with as they put us in the deluxe room and our friends in the standard room (they had paid for the deluxe room). Checking in at the chalet (not the main building) was different. The only suggestion we have is to have some more tables in the various lobby areas(there were many areas, but only one table) for card/game playing. The one table in the entire main lodge was being used every night for card/game playing!

- Cosensa99 (10/5): Overall Excellent - Services, food and facilities at the Highlands was superb. Beautiful, relaxing resort. Our only problem had to do with shuttle services. While all drivers were very friendly and on time, the amount charged to get from Pellston airport to the resort is a bit exhorbitant. Many other hotels and resorts we've stayed at have offered free or low cost transport however we were charged $100 for a 13 minute ride. Considering the condo rates, the shuttle should have been reasonable or free.

Stayed in a Heather condo with a sleeper sofa & murphy bed, along with a king bedroom and kitchenette and 1 1/2 baths. Was perfect for our 4 person group. Had access to the main lodge gym and pool. The lodge is still under renovations, hoping the gym is temporary until renos complete. Enjoyed the new par-3 Doon Brae course (no carts that I'm aware of, definitely a workout walking up the hill.) The new putting green was fun. Breakfast was fantastic at the main lodge, same dinner at Slopeside. Would recommend.

Rooms were very nice and the hot tub and 98 degree outdoor pool were amazing. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Hannah in the check-in office was great. Very nice resort and planning to come back again.

- marylr2015 (10/5): Fantastic Family resort - We ski at the Highlands every couple of weeks and I can’t say enough about how wonderful the staff is. I feel like I’m coming home EVERY time I visit. We always stay at the Ross Cottages, they are cozy and comfortable and allow me to cook all weekend for our usually large group of young students. We have exchange students and my daughter brings her friend group. They all love it. The slopes are fantastic and there is a ton of variety for all. They are a fan of the tree trails and I’m a fan of early morning blacks. The guest services staff has been wonderful to us, from helping us book our stay, to shuttle service to needing extra blankets. A big should out to Stephanie and Tina!!! Oh and the rental staff. When we bring our exchange students, they need to rent. Soooo helpful and am always greeted with a welcome back and good to see you again!!! Love it. Lastly, I have to mention the shuttle drivers. Can’t say enough. They make my kids feel safe and are so accommodating especially when they have to run 7 or 8 times to our Cottage. We love them all. Janet and Rob, Jen and Dan and John and I know I’m missing a few but we appreciate the service and for me as a mom, I know my kids are safe. Yesterday, a wonderful touch was hit chocolate and cookies in the lift line. Very nice and a classy touch!! Overall, you have us forever!!! We will continue to get our season passes and head up whenever the snow flies. Thank you HIghlands Team!!!
- H5261GHamandal (10/5): Great time skiing and staying at the Highlands - We stayed and skied at the Highlands over Presidents weekend. It’s very convenient to stay at the lodge, the rooms are well equipped with plenty of hooks for snow gear, and the staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. As beginner skiers, we thought there was a lot of variety in greens and blue runs, and the views from the North Peak and over the bay are really pretty. We had a great time - only thing that will make it better is when they finish the spa - would be fantastic to get a massage after a weekend skiing.

This year we had the pleasure of meeting Nazaret, Ivan, and Lisa upon arrival, and they could not have been more friendly and helpful. Our room was gorgeous and the skiing was even better! We cannot wait to come back next year.

- V1157XUannm (10/5): Another awesome ski week! - We have returned for our 23rd annual ski week !We really enjoyed staying at the Heather Highlands condos!! One thing that has stayed consistent over all the years is the incredibly comfortable bedding, top quality sheets, and towels. And another thing I want to highlight is the exceptional housekeeping, staff and services. From one end of the resort to the other, everything is always impeccably cared for. Special shout out to Tina at the front desk who has always provided exceptional check-in, customer service, and very much appreciated guidance with selection of the unit that we get to enjoy here after year! She is very detailed oriented and very customer satisfaction oriented! A true asset to the Highlands organization! The only improvements we’d like to see is if the resort could finally get the renovation of the main lodge and dining facility completed, as well as please add a sauna feature to the Heather Highlands swimming pool complex!

I truly expected a bit more for the excessive amount it costs. Practical to be in the hotel but no Waw effect at all . Left early and realized that on such a busy week end they did not shovel the heavy snow from the entrance early on... it was a strange feeling... It was just practical for us .Teenagers skied at nubsnob but the little one skied at the highlands.

Poor choice of layout in my oponion.

Very much appreciated. Room and bathroom were super clean but could use an update. Beds were very comfortable.

- WiPackerFan81 (10/5): Great experience in a deluxe room in July 2024 - We were blown away by how nice our stay was while attending an onsite conference in July 2024. We were warmly greeted at check in and were able to get into our deluxe room on the 3rd floor a little early. The entire wing has been remodeled and we were so impressed on the tasteful design and rich look of all the materials used. The deluxe suite is a treat! There's plenty of space, a sitting area and an elegant bed , large TV, refrigerator, coffee and robes were all in perfect shape and super clean! Every employee we met was smiling and greeted us if we passed by. The grounds are wonderful too. I read some of the books in the room and the history of the resort and area is worth a read too. We ate at the Slopeside lounge on our last night and the drinks, soup and sandwich were excellent too. We look forward to another visit soon

- Juliet (8/5): Beautiful, but not accessible. - There are fun things to do with families, and the grounds are beautiful. It's great that it is surrounded by exceptional golf courses. We have stayed before in the Heather suites. It smells less musty than the first time. They are still out dated, especially the kitchen, but beds are comfortable. They gave plenty of towels, so you don't have to ask. The coffee shop is great. The grounds, especially the Main Lodge, are not accessible. We had a stroller and had to break it down in order to get the back lawn. Otherwise, we would've had to walk around the entire building on the grass to get there. It would be really hard if someone had a wheel chair. The resort staff apologized but didn't have a solution. Our door wouldn't lock all the way at first. The safety latch was bent and the door was extremely hard to shut. We called security and they bent it back to close. There is virtually no lighting on the drive into the resort and in the parking lots. The resort seems safe in general, but there can be critters. Better lighting is a good idea.
- NKmars2015 (10/5): Great Mountain biking for family of 6! - Absolutely fabulous! Great Mountain biking, pools, trails, and food. We really enjoyed the s'mores by the fire, ice cream sundays on the green, and paddle boating on the pond. The service by all the employees couldn't have been nicer. Next time we're bringing our clubs and hiking boots! We also will not arrive on a Sunday after the 4th of July. We missed the opportunity to ride horses, zip line and Segway tours. On the upside of those dates, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We Really liked the alpine cabins for our family of 6!
- Mark (10/5): Long weekend trip up north - Decided the day before to look for a place to stay near Harbor Springs to escape the heat down south and spend time bike riding up north. I had stayed at the Highlands 25 years ago for a ski trip so when it came up and was reasonably priced I decided to try it. We were happy with the room and the pools to spend time by. Lots of neat activities geared towards kids (movies on the lawn, smores). Was not very busy which made it extra quiet and relaxing. We did not do the downhill cross country but that was obviously very popular. We only ate at the pizza place one night and it was good, so I cannot speak to the other restaurants on site (BTW, highly recommend State Provisiions for Sunday breakfast). We would stay again.

We’ve been at the pool when they randomly show up with berries and ice cream for all the kids, or we were pleasantly surprised to find a family fest during our last stay with face painting, balloon animals, and themed treats for all the kids. That being said there are some needed updates around the property. They do have a plan for renovation that is ongoing. The rooms have been updated BEAUTIFULLY and feel like such a value-just be prepared for some really dated spots as well. Love staying here and will be back!

- 791garryc (10/5): Very nice visit - We think Boyne has raised their game here with the level of service we received on this visit. From the beverages and cookies at the check in at the Discovery Center to the muffins to go at check out we felt well treated and sorta pampered. They asked us if we needed some help with luggage when we checked in and a very nice and personable young man, Ivan, was waiting for us when we pulled up to unload. It was they same when we had a cart to load up 3 days later as the young women shoveling snow stopped her job and helped us load up and took the cart for us. All the staff was very friendly and eager to help. The rooms have been very nicely redone and the baths and shower were super nice. We have stayed up here for over 30 years and can't wait to go back. It felt like a luxurious spot to celebrate our anniversary. The skiing was great and loved the outdoor fire pits. We enjoyed the omelet station and all the fresh fruit offers in the a.m. Robes and slippers are a nice touch too. lots of activities likes s'more cooking, family movie conference room and crafts for kids were offered but we did not take advantage of in the evening, too busy using giant hot tub and pool.

- Travelmom1981 (6/5): Enjoyable resort with a lot of potential - We stayed at the Highlands at Harbor Springs for a few days to ring in the New Year-here’s the good and the areas for improvement. Hands down, the best part of the trip were the staff on the mountains. The ski instructors and ski patrol were awesome-I had a frustrating first day trying to brush up on my skills so I decided to book a private lesson-Dave was so awesome and had me feeling confident in no time! It made the rest of the day enjoyable and I was able to try a couple different runs the rest of the day. 100% made the trip special! The hotel has so much potential, and it sounds like the long-term plans are there to try to make it happen. Right now, as much as I want to rave about the experience, it’s just not quite where it needs to be to justify the price we paid (over $700/night). The Rowan 1 bedroom king suite was great-the renovated rooms are awesome and one of the best we have stayed in. The robes they have in the rooms are literally amazing-I want one for home! The rest of most of the resort is still in “transition” and doesn’t match the aesthetic of the new rooms. There’s still wrapping on the outside in one section from the fire in 2016, which we understand was a huge blow (followed by the pandemic, which undoubtedly delayed things)-just felt underwhelming after seeing their pictures and website online. One other thing to note-the keycard system to access the hotel was inconsistent. You had to swipe to get out to the pool deck, but there were no card readers or security on the doors that led from the outside parking areas into the hallways with the guest rooms. This made me a bit nervous traveling with kids as anyone could just walk in and roam the building if they wanted. I would suggest adding this as a protection to your guests. The service was pretty hit or miss-all of the staff was really nice, but “hmmm, I don’t know” was pretty much the standard response from everyone. The staff seems very young and in need of training on basic info for the resort-this would go a long way to elevating the guest experience. From asking about pizza delivery to the room (“not sure, you should call them”) to restaurant hours and wait times, details about the NYE family party (was told there would be snacks!), and a number of things-we usually found that while polite and friendly, the staff was pretty clueless. We tried the breakfast buffet one morning and it was pretty much chaos. We got led to a dirty table, told oops, never mind, then taken to another dirty table and awkwardly tried to stand out of the way while someone bussed it-not the biggest deal but when you charge $30 it would be nice to have staff trained in basics and not feel like a burden to the place. We don’t eat beef or pork and have a kid on the autism spectrum who is fairly picky due to sensory issues, and we found that we had a hard time eating at the restaurants. They seem like they are trying to create a super-elevated experience (fancier options like elk, bison, etc) but feels like maybe just offering more solid and standard items might be helpful and appreciated by a lot of families. We heard people complaining about the “Enchanted forest” price-it’s nearly $20 to walk down a standard wooded path with some random lights strung up. Seems like something that might be nice for something to do as a complimentary activity, but to pay $100 for a family of 4 is almost insulting. Overall, we enjoyed our time and would likely come back when they get things updated to where it felt like the service and amenities justified the prices. We would return but just wanted to help temper expectations for those expecting a bit more grandiosity.

- 997carlis (8/5): Terri the breakfast waitress was amazing - We had a waitress in the morning, named Terri who was honestly the best waitress I've ever had. She truly made our mornings better because of her attentiveness and energetic demeanor. She's one of the reasons we will be coming back. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool and Slope side pub were awesome. My only complaint would be the arcade. My kids played all of the games and if they won they still wouldn't get the prizes that they should have. For a young child, that was not fun and it was a general waste of money. Also, the card machine doesn't give change but also doesn't allow for two twenties. The options were 20 dollars, 30 dollars and 50 dollars, which was absurd. I put 40 dollars in thinking I would either get more points on the arcade card or it would spit out my second 20 and I would get two cards with 20 each on them. Nope.... I canceled the purchase AND it took all of my money. Very frustrating throwing 40 dollars away and still having to purchase again to get an arcade card. Minus the arcade, we will be coming back hopefully very soon. It was a great experience and everyone working at the hotel and slopes were amazing. Thank you. The McGuires

We also loved that the outdoor pool and hot tub were still open even though it was the off season. So nice to take a dip in a heated pool.

- Chantel (8/5): - Had a great stay. Staff was phenomenal. Loved the amenities including heated year around pool with hot tub, ski lift with mountain biking or hiking in the fall, restaurant on site, complimentary fire with s’mores, and even an option for horse riding. The property is vast. We booked the most price effective room and stayed in a 90’s decor room that badly needed updating. Enjoyed the deck, not a fan of the view over the parking lot. However, appreciated all the amenities and what felt like a historic Time Capsule. If we had spent a bit more on a room I’m sure I’d have better reviews for the state of the room. Most have fireplaces, ours did not. Staff were friendly and seem to actually enjoy their jobs. Would love to come back for a color tour again if affordable. ❤️

- kairving09 (10/5): Great Experience! - Spent 4 days/3 nights at the Highlands and had a fantastic time. From the moment we checked in til we checked out, everyone we saw greeted us, made sure we had everything we needed. Room was exceptional! Scenic chairlift was breathtaking! Slopeside and Main Restaurant were great. Already planning our next trip!
