Guest Reviews
- Anne (10/5): - James and Angela made us feel very welcomed. The location is amazing and the breakfasts were great.
- Rebecca (8/5): - Owners were super kind and accommodating. They even found me almond milk. I would say that the pillows and the towels could be improved. But it was reasonably priced and extremely clean.
- James (10/5): - Angela and James took very good care of us with custom breakfast orders every morning. Rooms was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.
- Lisa (10/5): - This is a wonderful B&B. James & Angela are friendly and gracious. James was helpful with local information and insights.
This is what sets a good B&B apart from a hotel!
Recommend!!!!!!!
- Carol (10/5): - Thank you to our hosts - everything was lovely, from the welcome to the clean room to the delicious breakfast. James was a joy to chat with and was always helpful in giving directions and information about Inverness. Thank you for a wonderful time at Mardon House - we will be back!
- Margaret (10/5): - Lovely friendly hosts
- Timothy (10/5): - It was lovely, clean and welcoming. James and Angela were kind, considerate and very helpful with how to find our way around Inverness. The breakfast was great with lots of choices. We could not have asked for more and we highly recommend Mardon Guest House. Rae & Tim Ryan
- Patricia (10/5): - Nice cosy single room. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot. There was a dressing gown to borrow. The breakfasts had lots of choice and was available from 7:30. The owners were very attentive and helpful.
It was in an ideal spot as it was about a 10min walk to town.
- Barbara (10/5): - Our 3-night stay at Mardon House was just perfect. James and Angela are great hosts: friendly and helpful. Upon check-in, James gave us a quick orientation to the city with a helpful photo and map in the hall. The twin room was clean and well-furnished, including the en-suite bathroom. There was plenty of variety in the breakfast offerings, including cold and cooked items, and Angela makes the BEST porridge. Mardon house is an easy 15-minute walk from the train station and well-placed to explore most of Inverness on foot, including great restaurants, shopping, and the Botanical Gardens. We will definitely stay there again.
- Lesley (10/5): - Mardon Guest House is centrally located to Inverness, so everything is in walking distance. Rooms are comfortable and warm. Breakfast was amazing. James and Angela take an interest in their guests. It felt like home away from home.
- Bernard (10/5): - Ideally situated near cathedral for any coach outings It was clean and comfortable, nice choices for breakfast, not too far from shops and very close to Ness Walk and the Eden cinema theatre complex.
- chloe (10/5): - James and Angela were very kind hosts, and they took very good care of us during our stay. Breakfast had many food and time options, and we enjoyed chatting with other guests and our host every morning. James cleans every bathroom every single day, wow! Room was spotless and heating was an option if the room was cold. Would stay again 100%. Keep in mind, no accessible fridge in room/dining room!
- Ramindur (10/5): - Came in for the cycling event etape Loch Ness which started off at around 6 in the morning. James was very helpful in laying out the breakfast for 5AM.
Also storing our bikes securely etc.
- Thomas (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at Mardon Guest House the hosts are very personable and helpful. It is a nice walk to the center of town which is just over the river. Near many good places to eat. If we are ever in the area again we would stay here.

The breakfasts were outstanding every morning, with lots of options and generous portions. The location is great-- easily walkable to all inverness attractions. James and Angela were very warm, helpful hosts. Hard to imagine a better value for the price.
- Allan (10/5): - James and Angela serve a wonderful breakfast and are a valuable source of local inforation. Very kind and generous people

- Les (10/5): - As a lone traveller, I appreciated being able to book a single room, which I find unusual. The accommodation was excellent and the hosts were keen to introduce guests to each other, which created a good atmosphere in the dining room. A very good choice of menu for breakfast each morning.
All in all, a very enjoyable and refreshing few days break.
- Alicia (10/5): - James and Angela were wonderful hosts. They made me feel very welcome and shared lovely stories and recommendations around the area. My bed was super comfy. The property location was ideal for walking around town to shops and restaurants.
- Petr (10/5): - Truly amazing B&B just on the second lane off the river Ness, great hosts who can advise you if you have no idea what to do in Inverness, hearty full Scottish breakfast adds a lot to the value.
- Elisa (10/5): - Perfect spot for our Inverness visit. James and Angela made us feel so comfortable. Very good homemade breakfast, fluffy robes in the room, comfy bed and nice towels. So easy to walk across the “bouncy bridge” for restaurants, music bars, shopping, etc.
- Gordon (10/5): - It was a great location and lovely room for a single occupant
- Edmund (10/5): - We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at James and Angela’s place. They are kind and helpful people. The place is maintained meticulously! The place is within walking distance to transportation stations, restaurants and attractions. They prepared a delicious breakfast for us every morning with various selections. We would not hesitate to recommend their place to others. Thank you James and Angela!
- Carla (10/5): - James and Angela were delightful hosts. They bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable. They were informative, accommodating, and quick with a smile. It was such a pleasure experiencing historic Inverness and staying in this comfortable 19th century guesthouse.
- Vincent Wing Tung (8/5): - I am overall impressed with the property being close to the city centre. The operators are very polite and try to be as accommodating as possible. My only suggestion is for the operator to not knock on the guest's door in the prior evening knowing the guest has to leave really early in the following morning.
- John (10/5): - Very pleasant stay
- Manfred (10/5): - James and Angela are amazing hosts. We had a great room, immaculate in fact. Their breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, a great start to active days of touring. We highly recommend the The Mardon House and hope to return and stay there again one day!
- Kimberly (10/5): - James and Angela run a lovely property just across the river from the center of Inverness. James was an utter sweetheart who eagerly mapped out the sites for us and kept the place running. Breakfast was top notch every morning, before a quick walk through the Tesco car park and over the bridge to get to town. We didn't have a car, but other guests raved about how lucky it was to have a dedicated lot for cars (and given the crazy construction around, I wouldn't disagree). Other guests mentioned they were returning patrons and we'll definitely be back on our next trip to Scotland.
- Debra (10/5): - Our hosts were amazing! It was wonderful place to stay!
- Terrence (10/5): - Property was clean and in room amenities were there. Staff was brilliant and very helpful. Great location central to everything. Highly recommended
- Ray (8/5): - Super clean, comfy and quiet room within walking distance of Inverness city center. Breakfast is scheduled the night before and cooked fresh.
The street is a narrow residential street, parking is tight and very limited.
As a first time customer of a guest house, we are more accustomed to the ability to check in and out 24 hrs a day.
The hosts are very helpful and friendly regarding recommendations for local dining and attractions.
- Amanda (10/5): - Mardon Guest House is a lovely place to stay. James and Angela are very welcoming and run a proper Bed & Breakfast. The walk to city centre is just a few minutes. There’s a Tesco right near by for any grocery needs. I would definitely stay again.
- Murray (10/5): - Location, location, location, James and his wife run the best b&b we have stayed in , parking on site , short walk to city shops and tons of restaurants, spotless establishment great room amenities, fantastic breakfast. We only stayed three nights but could have stayed a week ,
We would have no hesitation in staying again 😃😃
- felicia (10/5): - Lovely storybook B&B. James and Angela were wonderful hosts. The B&B was within walking distance to the center but not as close as I'd hoped. Quite a walk with luggage. Very residential area- must walk into the city for food.
- Kerri (10/5): - James & Angela were amazing hosts, so friendly and helpful. Their property is very comfortable and clean, feels like home. The breakfast is a lovely way to start your day. I would highly recommend this property for your stay In Inverness. David & Kerri - Australia

- Lynn (10/5): Lynn & Sean - Great stay with the very friendly, helpful James and Angela. Room was comfortable with everything we needed. Good breakfast to set you up for the day with choice of cooked to order and buffet. Location is very close to the town centre and everywhere we needed to go. Thank you both :-)
- Amber (10/5): - This was such a delightful stay. I was welcomed upon arrival and given a brief history/ tour of the area via map. I was then asked about my breakfast preferences for my stay and shown to my room.
The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was made to order by the hosts and it was delightful. Talking to them during breakfast was a great opportunity to ask about things to do / recommendations.
On days when you cannot make it to breakfast, they make a cute little setup where you have milk, cereal, and fruit for your journey.
Highly recommend!
- Olga (10/5): - The owners were very nice & helpful. Great breakfast

We had coffee and tea available in the room which also had its own bathroom with shower. Breakfast was also provided each morning with both buffet and cooked to order choices. James was very knowledgeable about Inverness and eager to share what he knows. We arrived in Inverness by train and only had a 10 minute walk to the guest house. They do have parking in the rear of the house if you arrive by car.

The guest house is centrally located near many restaurants, bars, and the bus station that serves as a pickup spot for many of the tours. They gave a lot of recommendations of things to do and places to visit. The neighborhood was very safe. There is an amazing walking path along the River Ness nearby that is beautiful to walk during the evenings.

- Victoria (10/5): Lovely Guesthouse! - I recently had a lovely 5 day stay at Mardon House. James and Angela were on hand to greet me when I arrived and provided great advice on where to visit in the area. The walk to shops, restaurants and both the rail & bus stations was only a few minutes... which made catching the many available tours easy! Breakfast in the morning was great; James checked in daily to confirm my selection. I highly recommend Mardon House for your Inverness visit!
- mark (2/5): not trustable property - when I got home on 25 may had an email saying that I had broken the velex blind and they had taken ££ 43.20 (half the cost of replacing it) they did not provide any photos of the so called damage or a copy of the invoice I did not do anything to the window I don't think you should hsve this address on your list it makes your name bad
- Norman (8/5): Stay there but not for long - The room had a lot of road noise for all the traffic that went by the front of the house during the night so some nights I didn't get much sleep. Asked the owners to changed the bed sheets daily but they informed me that they changed them every 3 days. The room was small for the price. Owners are friendly
- Margaret (10/5): - James and Angela were extremely hospitable - we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Breakfasts were very good, with much more choice than is usual at a B&B. We had fun chatting with them as well and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly and helpful people, clean and a generally very good stay, highly recommened

- Kayla (10/5): Made Inverness feel like home. - James and Angela where absolutely amazing. They welcomed me in and took interest in my travels and where I was off to for the day. My room was small and absolutely lovely. Food was made fresh and came to the table hot... Thank you Angela for that. Within walking distance of downtown Inverness I was able to take a 5 minute walk to find dinner each night and explore the city. Available parking and the comfort of home, I couldn't have stayed at a better place. I will absolutely be back.
- Catherine (10/5): - The location is very convenient for getting around. We walked everywhere in town. The room was clean and comfotable. James and Angela were wonderful hosts.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, only a 5 minute walk to center of town. James and Angela were kind and attentive. Breakfast was great and the rooms were well maintained.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Nice friendly welcome, good comfortable room and lovely breakfast
- Gretchen (8/5): Helpful innkeeper, good stay. - James is very kind and worked hard to make our stay pleasant....carried our bags up the stairs, arranged an early morning taxi, told us about things to do in Inverness, tried to get us a last minute dinner reservation. Our room was quiet and comfortable, breakfast was good. Mardon House is a reasonable price and easy walk to the castle and downtown. Without too much luggage one could even walk to the bus station. Wifi, however, is so-so. Parking is available but very tight. Don't bring a big car!
- KateMarie (10/5): Great location and wonderful hosts! - If I ever visit Inverness again, I'd stay here! Close to downtown, making it easy to walk everywhere I wanted to visit. Parking was convenient. Hosts were attentive and strove to make my visit the best it could be. Not a single thing about my experience that I'd say was negative in any way. There's reasons they fill up fast!
- Catherine (10/5): Stay at Mardon House in Inverness - The whole experience was great. The food, room, staff and ambience were all excellent. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
- Alice (10/5): Amazing 5-star B&B experience! - I really enjoyed my stay at James and Angela's B&B, the delicious Scottish breakfasts, James' great hospitality and thoughtful arrangement at breakfast, and interactions with other guests. I'd highly recommend the Mardon Guest House if you'd like an authentic B&B experience!
- Jeannie (10/5): Friendly b and b close to the city centre - Staying at Mardon Guest House is a little like staying with an extended family - the atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxed, so I got to know a number of the other guests, and Angela and James, the hosts, are very friendly and helpful.
- Batbara (10/5): - From our welcome to our departure, we enjoyed our stay at Mardon Guest House. The beds were comfy and the room clean. Breakfast was not lavish, but delicious, whether we had cooked or cold. The location is close to the old town centre with many places to eat (book early). James and Angela know where all the main attractions are and will regale you with tales of other guests who have been there or discovered new sites. The only "negative" might be the tight parking space. However, it's better than parking on the street. We highly recommend Mardon Guest House, and if we are fortunate enough to return to Inverness, that's where we'll stay.
- Jenny (10/5): - Very friendly owners. The room was very comfortable and clean.
- LindaH (10/5): Convenient for all places of interest - This is a pleasant guest house run by a very friendly couple. The bedroom was comfortable and breakfast was good. It was only a short walk into the centre, bus station and train station. Also Eden Court (for theatre, concerts, etc) was quite close.
I would definitely try to stay again should I be in Inverness and I am happy to recommend it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great vacation - My 23-year-old daughter and I joined a group of friends for a trip to Scotland. I looked at many types of accommodations but wanted my daughter to experience a B&B. It was great. We loved the breakfast (great Scottish cheese). It was easy walking distance to downtown. A grocery store and laundry facilities were around the corner. James provided a wealth of information of what to see and do. We loved our time there.
- jonathan (10/5): - Really nice place to stay with kind and welcoming owners. The location was very convenient as well.
- A (10/5): - A very nice experience, excellent breakfast, fast internet and friendly hosts.
It was a short five minute walk to downtown and to the conference centre.
- Fabrizio (10/5): Nice B&B near the center - Nice B&B near the center with private car park. The owners were very helpful, friendly and nice. The owner can tell you all the Scottish history.
- Chris (10/5): - First class accommodation. Hosts are very friendly and breakfast is excellent. Not a single complaint. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location for everything in Inverness - Our room was small but had a great large bed and a bathtub. The breakfasts were great and our hosts very accommodating. The location was perfect for both bus rail and restaurants but on a very quiet street.
