Guest Reviews
- Thomas (7/5): - The cabin was very cute. We couldn't get the air conditioner to work. But everything else worked fine.
- Lopez (9/5): I would absolutely stay here again! - I liked the grounds, the golf course and the river. Also, Lisa was the best! Super sweet and very helpful! The golf course needed some upkeep but it was still fun for the kids!
- Chanbopha (8/5): Great, stay budget, friendly kids, friendly, and good hospitality - The property is huge and very pretty. It’s right next to a river and there’s a big open space for kids. The front desk person was incredibly sweet. There were also some cats around the property which were very friendly. The room was a good size. The room was a bit dirty. It didn’t seem like they mopped the floors. There were spiderwebs around the windows, and the bedsheets were very thin.
- Janice (9/5): Fun place to stay. -
- Prosser (10/5): - Everything location location location Coffee maker broke but we made do

- David (9/5): Rustic, comfortable, extremely nice hostess and awesome value ! - The sweetest, most helpful and thoughtful hostess, she was also a wealth of local information and a huge help to us in planning our itinerary. Parking right out front your room is a big plus to us, makes it so easy to load and unload the car. Very quiet motel. Feels remote. But is also super close by to Avenue of the Giants. Sheets and bed were very clean, no bed bugs detected, and we looked. The room is a bit dated. The Queen bed was kinda hard. The shower is very old and a bit sad. The toilet needed 2 flushes each time for it to truly flush. And the toilet is very low to the ground ! Be ready for deep knee bends lol. The back sliding glass door had the inner seal broken inside the glass, on one side, so it was full of condensation- hard to see out of it. We asked for a broom right after we checked in because we noticed the floor needed a bit of help, many small crumbs and debris on the floor from the previous guests. We wanted to sweep this up before our little dog came in and tried to eat everything on the floor he’d find. Overall the room was clean though. Just needed a better sweep.
- Diane (10/5): we had a great time in a beautiful location - no breakfast abailable. the rooms are large, comfortable and rustic. quite! relaxing was so easy. the properity is large, an excellent family destinstion. the staff and owner went the extra mile to make our family reunion and my brothers 75th a hit. more counter space in bathroom

- Dennis (9/5): Good -
- Ronel (7/5): - Location is great
Microwave and bar fridge
- Leania (10/5): Overall nice place to stay - Staff was so nice, and the cats were welcoming too! 5min drive to and from the nearest grocery store. The place was quiet and comfortable as I wanted.
- sfoPatrick (9/5): Definitely the place to stay in Redway! - What I liked the most was the location, right by the river. As I came for a fishing trip, this was ideal. Access to the river was very easy, even for my old legs. I will definitely come back for more...The lady who greeted us was very friendly and accommodating. For the price paid, the cabin was on the small side. The bathroom didn't have a sink. The kitchenette was the only sink to wash dishes and one's face. But, hey, again, when you are on a fishing trip, it doesn't really matter...

- Susan (7/5): Great location - Stayed there for the location close to the Redwoods. The motel is rustic. From what I read the cabins might have been nicer. The manager was great and the little store in the office was convenient. Not the nicest place I've stayed at but it was adequate. Very quiet Did not use the shower. I forgot to tell the manager that it looked like a piece was missing on the shower head.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - We had a great time with our dogs. Our room had a nice kitchenette and patio-- very comfortable.
- Gretchen (7/5): I might return, it was pleasant and nice places to walk. Saw a deer. - I liked that the motel room has a little patio. The
Place is a little old, but well kept up, clean, good heater and ac in room.
Woman at front desk very helpful and welcoming. I would have preferred a room near the back of the motel, not so:close to the road.
- Connie (6/5): Convenient location. Accommodating owners - It was a convenient location to see the Redwoods. The owners were very friendly and promptly fixed a booking issue I had. It’s a beautiful camping area right along the river. Cute cabins but didn’t see the inside. We had a motel room. I wanted to use the salt water pool but it had been closed down a couple weeks prior to our stay which I was unaware of.
- Jin (8/5): - There were some old parts that were not clean but the hosts were kind and good.
- Stephan (8/5): - Die nette Dame im Empfang.
Mann konnte seine Wäsche waschen und trocknen.
- Michael (10/5): - Suite was comfortable and spacious. Great location in Redway between sea and giants.
- Amanda (10/5): - Lovely place in the Redwoods. My 2nd time here, I stayed in a cabin. Adorable and equipped with everything you need! The lady who runs it is friendly and helpful! This is my place when visiting the Redwoods!
- Richard (6/5): Adequate - Very old
- wendy (7/5): We checked in we’re able to get television connection to watch our favorite football game recommendations where to order - Excellent location for the end of the Avenue of the Giants It’s a dated Motel, but the room was roomy and clean at the television worked. It had a noisy window and/c.
- Robin (10/5): - This was a nice and clean hotel. It was close to the places we wanted to visit and the front desk staff was very helpful at directing us for sightseeing and dining.
- Carolyn (7/5): -
- Garcia (10/5): - Location
- Kyra (8/5): - This was our second time staying at Dean Creek Resort in one of their adorable "tiny house" cabins, so clearly we like it well enough to be return guests. The location is outstanding, right at the beginning of the Avenue of the Giants. It's conveniently located right off HWY 101, yet feels secluded and natural, set in a redwood grove beside the Eel River. It has some great amenities like swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, playground, and amphitheater, and the camp store is convenient for basic necessities and a few small souvenirs. We love that they're dog-friendly, too!
This time we did encounter a few issues, which is why a star is knocked off. For such a small space (I'd estimate maybe 250sf) the cabin we were assigned had a lot wrong. The rolling barn door to the bathroom was off its track and almost fell on me, and neither the microwave nor the hot water heater were functioning. Staff members were great though, and took quick action to remedy the issues as best they could. Only the hot water situation could not be swiftly resolved, so they gave us the key to the empty cabin next door so we could shower there.
Other than those hiccups we had a lovely stay in a beautiful and serene setting. On balance yes, we'd return a third time for the location, charm, and to support a quirky, homey-feeling, family-operated small resort. I'd take that over a soulless chain hotel any day of the week.

- Hallie (8/5): -
- Thomas (2/5): - Checking in at 5:40 on Saturday…office was closed! Spent a lot of time pressing the bell before somebody came! The cabin was very small and rustic, not deluxe!
- Tatyana (8/5): - We stayed here for one night in transit. The beds were not as comfortable as at similar places, but the property was very quiet, which we appreciated. The highlight was the great coffee machine with a nice variety of options.
- Irina (10/5): -
- Richard (6/5): - Needs renovation
- Maria (8/5): Great for a night on the road - We stayed 1 night on our way between Redwood and SF. It had a pool, different activities on site. Room was clean. Front office had a small shop.
- Irina (10/5): -
- andrea (6/5): A good place to stay for a night if you are visiting Avenue of the Giants - Perfect location to explore the Avenue of the Giants. Pool area was clean and well kept. Loved the family of rescue cats that were hanging around! Really convenient little store in the check-in area, for ice cream and snacks. Our time there was safe and quiet, and a good place to rest after a long active day. This place is funky. It was clean enough, but worn. Our room had a flickering light and sheets with holes. Think of it as visiting your weird-but-nice cousin in the woods.
- Leticia (10/5): - This is an amazing property. It was beautiful and quiet. We stayed in cabin 1 and could see the river from our porch. Easy river access as well as a sauna. The sweet lady at the front desk was very accommodating and gifted us a bag of ice when we ran out. The cabin we cute and quaint, with basic cooking necessities. It was just the relaxing break we needed. Can’t wait to plan my next trip back!
- Marialuisa (8/5): - Posizione ottima per visitare l Avenue de giants
- Arjun (9/5): Lovely place and view, highlight of our trip - The cabins facing the river are lovely The AC took a long time to cool the room and the bathroom door would leave a small gap.
- Oliver (7/5): - Warm welcome and nicely located at the river. The shower could have been a little bit warmer.
- John (5/5): The cabins felt a little tired but the location was good. - Lovely location overlooking the river. Helpful staff. One burner ring was not fixed properly. No separate wash basin to kitchen sink. Lack of bedside lighting.
- JASON (2/5): - So, if you have ever seen Friday the 13th, this place looks like the inspiration. While the lady who runs the place was very nice, she has 50 cats running around the place and left work which closed up shop literally as I drove up. Luckily she was there. When I went to my room, i walked through several cobwebs and the room felt like a sauna. It smelled of teenage sex and cat piss. The furniture was circa 1967, and I mean literally junk back then. I went to open the window and the window fell out of the sill. Luckily I caught it. After trying to fix it for 10 minutes, I had to basically lean it against the opening. On the backside of the room they has sliding doors to a 'patio'. I tried to open that and it also fell off the tracks. Imanaged to fix that and closed it. The whole place was falling apart. The toilet rocked when I sat on it and I skipped trying to take a shower - wasn't going to risk that. Tried to take my dog down to walk along the river. The reason I booked here was to be able to do that. Well, the whole riverbead is a giant rock landscape of hell. No foliage, no real river access, just no someplace I would spend any time at, which defeated the purpose of staying there. SKIP THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. What a joke. I am just glad I wasn't murdered and eaten by cats.
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Alex (7/5): Beautiful location and friendly staff. -
- Leith (6/5): It was Memorable. - Multi use. Needs updating and the plumbing issues need to be resolved.
- Killy (6/5): - Pros: Neat lil property with mini golf, other amenities and access to river. Room was spacious and the check-in with gentleman was efficient and welcoming.
Cons: Front office smells of cat urine.
Beds are hard.
There was a rude older lady that barked at me and my husband as we walked our leashed dogs on the property. She assumed we were NOT guests, then accused us of not mentioning our dogs at check-in. All not true. She demanded to know which room we were in, we told her and she said, ok that is a pet friendly room. Then spun on her heels and walked back into the office. She was the opposite of a gracious host. She definitely soured our stay.
- April (10/5): - This is a great value for the price. It's a, older, homey little resort with a great pool and super-friendly staff. Very laid back with pets allowed.
They have fire pits available and we stayed in one of the hotel rooms where we were able to have a fire right out the back patio from our room.
Families were playing on the lawn and the kids were perfectly safe to run around well into dark, swim in the pool, and have fun without worry of cars or strangers.
I would definitley come back!
- Teresa (5/5): Passable -
- Denise (10/5): - Clean room and helpful staff
- Debra (8/5): Very good -
- Rhonda (8/5): We had a great time!! - They were very accommodating and helpful. We originally booked a cabin. There was a water main break the first night so we were upgraded to a motel suite. The 2nd night there was a power line that went down and we had no power for about 8 hours, they gave us battery lights, so it was no problem. I was an adventure, but we would definitely book another stay. I love the rustic accommodations. the bed could use an upgrade
- Robert (10/5): - Nice room for a night or two (I was passing through on my way to Oregon from So Cal). I was in room 10. It felt spacious, especially travling alone. High ceilings with wood beams gave it a nice rustic feel.
There is Laundry on one side and public bathroom (for the pool area maybe) on the other, so no direct neighbors to speak of (room had its own shower)… it was quiet. Very friendly staff. Pod coffee and tea in the room.
Patio was sufficient. It had a table with a couple chairs and it was nice to chill with a drink after a long day on the road and just gaze out over the grass into the mountains.
I’d stay here again.
- PATRICIA (10/5): - Stayed in the motel. Super clean and safe. Really enjoyed staying here
- Savanna (7/5): Good - Cleanliness Bed was hard
- Janne (8/5): We live very near the river and redwoods, but it felt like a staycation. - The location is the main attraction. Access to a great little beach and swimming hole on the Eel River. Our immediate family, ranging in age from 8-70 had fun.
- Nigel (7/5): Good -
- LEEANNA (2/5): - There were cats around
- Lucie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (9/5): Had a wonderful time with friends. - Very relaxing. Good neighbors and staff No issue with me.
- Black (5/5): Passable - Staff is super friendly
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Wright (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (9/5): Not a modern facility, but everything was clean and worked as it should. -
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional - Gret customer service from the front desk. Clean room and pool. Miniature golf was also free. There wasn't anything that I didn't like
- Arile (8/5): Would recommend to stay. - Lots of options to do around the property. River, hot tub, swimming pool, mini golf, nature walks, and plenty of toys for the kids. The check in lady was very nice and friendly. It was a fun little place for the kids to have fun. There were a lot of spiders around the property close to the motel area including black widow, in the check out area smelt like cat urine due to cats being let in with a kitty litter box.
- France (6/5): - Grande chambre propre, pour une nuit ok. Cela a déjà été un endroit où il y avais de la vie, maintenant c’est un peu à l’abandon.
- Valeria (8/5): Very good -
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phillip (9/5): Superb - The property is in a great location and it's fun to just walk around the grounds. Our room was clean and comfy, and the terrace out back was a great spot to relax and enjoy the area. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are good dining options within a few minute drive.
- Regina (9/5): Wonderful stay, made even better by the great staff! - Location was very close to the parks, property and surroundings were nice (grassy area, pool, jacuzzi), room was spacious and nicely appointed with microwave oven and large fridge. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Cassandra (10/5): - Beautiful property and excellent customer service. Lots to do on property. Mini golf, swimming pool, arcade, river access! Stayed in the cabin and was not disappointed. All the employees were kind and very helpful with any requests.
- Narayan (7/5): It was good. We would likely stay again if traveling that way - We loved the location and staff. We booked last minute for long weekend and the price was not bad for that and that was a big plus. Location was beautiful and rooms were alright. The beds looked worn out but the cleanliness was fine in the room and bathroom. The bedsheets looked old. bathroom lock wasn’t working.
- Eldon (10/5): - The stay in the cabin was perfect for us. Only thing i would change is a higher toulet. Its a little low for someone like me or at very least put in a bar for getting off the toilet
- Tara (10/5): Our fav summer spot! - We go every year to go kayaking. We drop in right outside our cabin and the front desk ladies drive us down the street to leave our pick up vehicle. They're sooo nice! The bed in the cabin is starting to get a divit and we kept rolling to the middle of the bed. Nothing too bad, but a little uncomfortable. (Positives FAR out weigh this neg). The cabin is very cozy, and cute.
- Michelle (8/5): Great experience - Nice location at base of avenue of the giants, very friendly and helpful staff. Internet available was nice. Looks like a great place for families as well, right on the beautiful eel river. Tiny shower, but not their fault.
- Wentland (5/5): Overall good value and location but pipes and sliding doors could be updated. - Could update and repair a few things. Pipes are slow
- Freelookmode (2/5): Incredibly poor. - The shower hot water didn't work, the toilet was backed up when I got there. The bed was caved in so bad i slept in my car half the night.
- Albert (10/5): - Great location. Near Eel River and Dean Creek. Friendly check in. Check in time was 4 pm but we arrived at 1:30 pm and our room was already available. The water was shut off due to a plumbing issue but it was resolved in 20 minutes. Meanwhile Lisa, the manager, gave us a free gallon of water. Very close to the Avenue of the Giants and Shelter Cove.
- Roselyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terri (10/5): - Cozy place. Staff is very friendly and helpful. This was our 3rd stay there! Convenient to Humbolt Redwoods.
- Fountain (8/5): Very good -
- Leisa (10/5): I’d love to visit again and stay longer! - It was so beautiful there! Quiet and peaceful- fabulous!
- Sauwan (6/5): - Water pressure for sink is low
- Kathi (10/5): Great location - Lovely location. My dog enjoyed the walk to the river! Loved the sliding door to a nice patio with table and chairs. The views were so nice.
- Mary (4/5): - A cat jumped onto my bed at 5:30 this morning
- Fountain (8/5): Very good -
