Guest Reviews
- taniainaotearoa (8/5): Stunning views at the edge of the land - Spectacular view, and special to be at the southern point of Te Wai Pounamu The Oyster Cove next door serves up delicious food. Understanding that the isolation can create the higher price point, however parts of the property fejt tired. Little touches such as current travel magazines or books on the area could help elevate the promise of a luxury stay.
- Jennie (8/5): Great place to stay in bluff - Location was perfect to catch the ferry to Stewart island . The views and sound of surf from our room were wonderful . Lovely staff greeting us , helping a and serving us a beautiful breakfast
- Lina (9/5): -
- Fiona (5/5): People were nice and room OK. To call it a boutique hotel is a stretch. - Quaint hotel. Rooms were warm and comfortable and clean. View of ocean was magic.
Oyster restaurant next door is a tourist trap.
- Jennifer (8/5): The stay was enjoyed and very cosy - Quirky
- Chaminda (10/5): - You come to the very end of bluff to enjoy the serenity of the surroundings and the beautiful boutique hotel. Its a superb hotel but may not be everyones cup of tea. We loved the peace and quiet. Breakfast could be a little more variety but we really didnt mind given that the location made up for any shortcomings.
- Colin (9/5): A good hotel in a unique location - We liked the unique location at the southernmost point in NZ
Sami was friendly and very helpful
There is a good restaurant next door, which is very convenient. Otherwise its a 15-20 minute drive back into Bluff
Sami served an excellent breakfast We were in the disabled room (not requested or required). It is a nice room with a view over the ocean. The only problem was an illuminated EXIT sign over the door (presumably a legal requirement). The bright light from the sign disrupted our sleep.
- Matthias (10/5): Bluff - Gute Lage, gutes Frühstück, nettes Personal Hat alles gepasst
- Lizzie (4/5): The location is great it just need a revamp to justify the cost of staying there. - Location is great and right next door to amazing walks. The owner/manager is lovely. In desperate need of a makeover. Everything very tired.
- Carlos (10/5): Great place and customer service. - Sami was extremely helpful and very kind. Great service!!! I didnt dislike anything.
- Adam (10/5): Bluff is really rugged and beautiful, Lands End perfectly located - Location, friendliness, cleanliness
- Colin (10/5): - Sandy was outstanding.
- Mike (8/5): -
- Elias (10/5): Very nice place to stay and very close to a very nice restaurant. - Location, staff, cleanness, and comfort. Nothing.
- Deborah (10/5): - Beautiful location. Andy was extremely welcoming. Breakfast included in the morning was wonderful.
- Cleo Jia Jia (7/5): - Excellent view, perfect location, very friendly staff! Place feels dated, especially the toilet and the carpets.
- Basnet (10/5): -
- Alleyne (8/5): - Location & Restaurant & Staff
- Tawhai (9/5): Short but sweet stay - I loved the view of the ocean. I loved that it was right next door to a restaurant. The accommodation was tidy and the staff member who welcomed us to our room was very pleasant and gave us a warm welcome. Overall experience A+ would highly recommend to friends and family for future stays Nothing to complain about on my end.
- Lisa (8/5): Overall, great stay in Bluff! - The property is in a great location…close to the restaurant Oyster Cove and the ferry terminal The room was a bit small and needed some updating
- Sally (9/5): A very cute hotel right at the end of the road. - Very cosy and comfortable room overlooking the sea. The service was really good.
- Philippe (8/5): -
- Hermann (9/5): -
- Louise (6/5): Incredible location and views, very expensive relative to quality of accommodation. - Incredible location and views. Helpful staff. “Boutique” description seems a stretch, room quite small and standard. Very expensive given quality of accommodation - same for restaurant next door, food was average (guess we paid for the amazing views!)
- Stuart (3/5): Overall our overnight stay was dissappointing - The outlook of the area promised great views to the ocean. The property was promoted as being an impressive looking premises positioned prominately in front of the sea. Unfortunately the property failed to deliver as it was quite tired and required some matainence to bring it up to the standard being charged for at a premium price. A water view had been requested but wasnot delivered instead a garden view room (if you can call two pot plant one of which was dead a garden). The overall condition of the property did not live up
to the expectations of the images and price charged on booking.com
- Ferlin (10/5): What a lovely place to stay, thanks - Location is beautiful All good, better than expected
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Susan (8/5): Beautiful overnight before ferry to Stewart Island - Stunning location on the water! Staff very kind and helpful. Nothing.
- Loreley LT (7/5): Nice but expensive for the service. - The hotel is at the end of the road, at the end of South island :) carpark close to the rooms.
Loose tea, teapot and fancy coffee on the top of the fridge in the bedroom. Heatpump, electric blanket and duvet.
Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner available in the shower.
Breakfast served moring from 8 to 9 am with eggs cooked as you want. Mattress very hard without topper, for this price I was excepting an amazing bed :(
no curtain at the windows, just store
Water in the shower ultra powerfull (too much), splasing everywhere (even if the shower head is leaking)
- Marloes71 (7/5): Stunning view at a price - The view is stunning. And my daughter got an upgrade of her room, so she was also at the first floor in a room with a view. It's a lot a money, for former glory. I think the hotel was very grand a view years ago, but now it looked tired in the rooms and hallway.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Comfortable overnight stay in a lovely location with great hosts - Friendly and accommodating hosts and lovely ocean views from the room. We appreciated being dropped off / picked up at the ferry terminal.
- Maureen (9/5): A lovely small hotel with good views convenient for the Stewart Island ferry. - Beautiful situation at Land's End. Easy parking. We stayed 2 nights before and after our trip to Stewart Island and both times had very good rooms facing the sea. Samantha drove us to the ferry and picked us up on our return, and generally looked after us. Good breakfast included. Large restaurant next door with spectacular views. Nothing
- Alexander (8/5): Gerne wieder!
- Juliet (7/5): - The staff were wonderful and made us feel very comfortable. The rooms were clean and tidy and had a lovely view of the ocean. Overall it was a pleasant experience To make this more luxurious perhaps more use of the facilities would be good. As the restaurant closed at 7.30 and the town wa spretty much closed up we thought that, the lovely lounge setting could be a great spot for a small cosy bar setting, for a simple wine, whisky or tea by the fire while admiring the view.
- Kim and Anthony (7/5): A great location - It’s in a great location and Samantha was lovely. It was super useful to be able to leave our car there to go to Stewart island. It’s not really what I was expecting in terms of boutique. If you can’t see the sea from your room then it’s a bit drab and there’s nothing to make it stand out. The breakfast was only continental with an egg option which was also a bit disappointing.
- martin (7/5): Great staff and location - Great staff, location and bed Shower needs upgrade
- Jeanette (7/5): Not really a boutique Hotel - Views from the window’s & proximity to the lovely walks. It’s advertised as a boutique hotel but it’s very tired in places. The carpet is fraying in several areas, wall paper is coming away from the walls. Our bathroom had mould in the ceiling and smelt damp. The breakfast was very limited. It’s expensive for what it is sadly.
- Helen (9/5): -
- Ella (8/5): -
- Anne (8/5): Comfortable and inviting rooms overlooking the ocean. - Stunning location Historic building- gorgeous rooms
- Johannes (9/5): -
- Quirine (9/5): - Locatie is fantastisch! Vriendelijk personeel. Niets
- Mark (10/5): - Location. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast included eggs Our room was not made up on second night of our stay. It looked like maybe they were interrupted. Room was not large but the view made up for it.
- Locksi (10/5): everything was perfect, the best host "Andy" ever -
- Rosalie (7/5): Pleasant stay, but would not return. very overpriced. - location Rooms had been renovated , but carpet torn in parts, toilet holder fell off the wall. very basic breakfast.
- Andrew (9/5): - Stunning location. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was good with a great selection. Rooms clean and tidy with a great selection of tea and coffee. Nothing
- Gary (10/5): -
- hugues (9/5): Endroit fantastique - Emplacement exceptionnel
Personnel adorable et efficace
Vue spectaculaire depuis certaines chambres
Ambiance cottage
- Mengjin (6/5): Better stay at invercargill instead - Location That entire property is not soundproof, I could hear people talking and walking from the other end of the building.
- Jan-Paul (7/5): -
- Angela (10/5): Perfect place - Perfect stay, great room and amazing views. The hotel is a perfect spot when visiting the south. Good breakfast although it could have more options such as fruit. Nothing.
- ODILE (9/5): -
- Helen (9/5): - Beautifully located at a very picturesque spot. We received a very warm welcome and excellent level of service from Samantha, which made our short stay pleasant and memorable.
- Robyn (9/5): - Great location at Lands End. Room with view of sea. Attentive staff. Potential for noise from public carpark.
- DANIEL (9/5): -
- Norbert Somerset (8/5): - Lage herausragend, Personal sehr freundlich Sehr kleine Zimmer, Bad sehr basic.
- stephen (7/5): - Friendly, helpful staff. The room had lovely ocean views and was comfortable and clean. The property is close to the road, noisy cars during the night
- Michael (9/5): Bluffs best accommadation - Great place to stay with the best staff, friendly and helpful. Loved it all.
- Kok (8/5): - Chill
- Mariana (10/5): Dreamy Escape - Amazing location! The rooms are comfortable and super clean. Staff is wonderful.
- Preeyanuch (10/5): Boutique comfy hotel - Room with good view and facilities. Second floor can be accessed from car park. Very friendly staff. -
- Samantha (10/5): So welcoming and friendly, a fantastic stop - Beautiful hotel, nicely furnished , comfy bed. Warm and inviting Na
- Debi (10/5): Exceptional! - Sammie was an exceptional hostess. Such a pleasure to deal with. Room was comfortable and clean. The quality of the food at the restaurant was amazing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone travelling to Bluff.
- Michelle (10/5): Great little getaway! Supreme location - Amazing location and really wonderful staff
- Lance & Deborah Burns (8/5): - VIEW LOCTION
- Emma (5/5): - Obviously a beautiful location and the receptionist was friendly and cheerful. Nice dining room and a simple breakfast. This was such a disappointing experience. Not even close to being a boutique hotel, barely better than a three star motel. We were given a disabled bathroom, not sure why, but it looked like a bad hostel. Shower seat was dirty. The entire room flooded when the shower was used and stayed wet the following morning. The face washer was threadbare. The walls are paper thin - you can hear people talking and using the toilet and showers in neighbouring rooms. The view was great, but that was about the only positive. No luxurious touches, it was barely comfortable.
- wjy1017 (9/5): -
- Tracey (10/5): Luxury stay in a stunning location with amazing hosts. - Amazing hosts, went above and beyond for us! Thank you for the ferry drop off and pick up !!
Great location. Luxury room, a real treat after tripping around Wish we stayed more than one night
- Thompson (8/5): -
- ELENI (10/5): -
- Jodie (7/5): Loved my stay, wonderfully friendly hosts and I slept so well it’s very quiet. There’sa great walking track right there - Amazing location and views out to sea. Beautiful most comfortable bed. Great property, private and peaceful. Just to note that the restaurant next door is the closest option for dinner, if it’s closed there’s not a lot in Bluff for dinner so good to plan ahead.
- Murray (8/5): - Loved staying here
- Nicole (7/5): Good - It is a lovely guest house but needs a little TLC. The host Sam was absolutely wonderful.
- Kevin John (10/5): - Very scenic
- Thomas (10/5): - Owner and his staff were very kind, professional and helpful.
- Roch (10/5): Exceptional - The host, Andy, couldn't have been more accommodating if he tried.
We got in later than expected and he quickly rang the restaurant next door and arranged for them to stay open for us so we could have some delicious Bluff oysters.
Andy had turned the heater on in our room, so it was nice and toasty when we got there (it was around 1° outside).
It's the little things like this that can make a holiday wonderful.
- Nikki (10/5): - Amazing service, very friendly
- Lucie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shauna (10/5): - We came to this hotel because it was one of the farthest points in the south. We were hoping to see the lights, but no such luck. It was still a quaint hotel with an amazing view. The breakfast included was good as well. If travel take you to Bluff, this is the must stay hotel.
- Ashlee (10/5): - Incredible stay. Million dollar views. Hosts were incredibly kind and friendly. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
- clyllyn (10/5): - Wonderful location. Very private with breathtaking views.
The hostess has a wonderful eye for detail. All the accessories in the bedroom and bathroom made it feel special cozy and warm. The teas were divine. Breakfast was delicious.
So nice to have a true boutique hotel experience with a lovely personal touch.
- Brooke (10/5): - The woman running the place, Sami, was AMAZING. I loved the place, but she took it to another level. Very friendly and personable. Would definitely go back there.
- Tidmarsh (10/5): Excellent stay with lovely Hosts. So nice to have that motel right on the end of Road. Very conven - We had an awesoe seafood dinner and a very flash breakfast. Top marks to the staff. No problems all went very well.
- Anthony (10/5): Super views and comfortable bed. - Great views from the room and breakfast lounge. Great service from Andy, Mary and the team made it more like a B&B with family. Continental breakfast included eggs cooked to go with toast cereal and fruit. Super comfortable bed and luxe pillows. Bathroom in room 4 we had was smaller than expected in a deluxe wording but was ok.
- Trudy (8/5): Wonderful host, perfect location - loved our stay - The host was very friendly and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were nice and we had a lovely view of the sea. The level entry shower meant that water went out onto the bathroom floor so a very soggy bathmat! The walls are also very thin - we had a snorer in the next room!
- Erana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dominic (7/5): We’ve been, we’ve seen check that off the list - Beautiful sunrise good spot for a walk No-one there when we arrived but clear instructions on how to find someone
- Monica (8/5): Enjoyable Stay - The owners were super friendly and very helpful and kind. The breakfast was good and there were some interesting trails near the accomodation.
- Greg (10/5): - Great stay
Thanks
- Rae (6/5): Great location and service but too expensive - Location and Andy was lovely. Good Breakfast Really expensive. Hard beds!
- Ruth (8/5): - The Hotel is clean and tidy, however a little tired, it is located next to the lands end sign and next to a restaurant which has good food and great service
- Ms (8/5): Cosy and comfortable for one night - Comfortable and clean
Room was cosy
Andy was friendly and informative when we checked in Shower had broken away from the wall and not quite fixed properly - we could still use it but it was not an ideal situation
- Katarina (10/5): Exceptional - Andy, the host was wonderful and accommodating. The room was comfortable with great views, the breakfast was delicious. There was ample parking. There was an issue with our shower but Andy was quick to fix it.
- Alison (8/5): Magnificent view from my room and next door restaurant - Nice New Zealand breakfast and well serve Add bacon will better for breakfast
- Lisa (6/5): - Andy was lovely , the breakfast was nice and whilst we had a "Garden View room " - (there was no garden ) so can only comment on our room type - I think "luxury boutique" is a stretch.... Over priced for what we expected.
