Fruits of all sorts + fresh baked croissant + fresh coffee / tea and we were event offered a choice of our preferred meals (omelet / fried eggs / bacon / sausages) that would be cooked as requested. The room was spacious: king bed + dressing table + seating area + fridge + coffee making facilities + shower place + separated toilet + bath tub. The bed was very comfortable and sheets are very soft. There's a lot of other modern facilities: special lightings, ambience radio, etc. Location was about 10 mins drive from city center. Jin (10/5): THE BEST accommodation in Taupo, ever. - At the end of our December family holiday, we asked our three teenage children what their highlight was, and the general consensus was "Chalet Eiger". Of all things, their highlight was the accommodation? You bet! I booked this place on a whim, thinking maybe for this particular stay at Taupo, I wanted a nicer place than the usual motels. And boy, we have found THE BEST accommodation in Taupo. Ever! Peter was right out there to welcome us when we arrived, and he walked us through the facilities, so we immediately felt at home. Everything at Chalet Eiger yells "luxury" without breaking the bank. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, the views are spectacular from the rooms, the living room and the dining area are oh so comfortable and big. The beds were very comfortable, temperature was highly adjustable to suit, bathrooms were spacious - we could find no fault with this superb accommodation. There is a large number of books on the bookshelves, an unlimited supply of yummy cookies (I just couldn't stop munching on their cranberry cookies). And Nina provided us with custom-ordered scrumptious breakfasts entailing a choice of cereals, yoghurt, freshly-cut fruits, cooked breakfasts including eggs cooked any way you liked, bacon, tomatoes, mushroom melts, sausages, spinach, salmon, waffles. Great scott, we were well-fed, thanks Nina. She also provided a lot of guidance on places to visit, and things to do, which helped - for example we really enjoyed the L'arté Cafe & Gallery. My wife and I also enjoyed spending time talking to both Peter and Nina to share our life and work experiences - we had such good chats. They were both such friendly and welcoming hosts, it almost felt like we were related, LOL! Oh and let's not forget the two absolutely adorable non-allergenic dogs Rufus and Bella, which we all absolutely loved. We highly recommend Chalet Eiger, the place is worth every cent spent, and you won't regret it. There's absolutely nothing we didn't like. Rachel (10/5): Classy country getaway showcasing the best of Taupo! - Our hosts were absolutely amazing. Their bed and breakfast was absolutely 5 stars and we can’t wait to stay again. Location is great, only 10mins from the centre of town where the majority of local activities are based with plenty of food and drink options. We also had breakfast catered for! The b&b itself is very spacious and comfortable, providing a very intimate setting with no more than a few guests at the one time. Not applicable, everything was great :)
Annette (10/5): Chalet Eiger is DEFINITELY our favourite place stay. We highly recommend it - 1000%! - The location was close enough to get to town and local attractions but far enough away to enjoy peace, quiet and tranquility. We also found out that Chalet Eiger is an hour (one way) to Rotorua so we could have based ourselves at the Chalet and driven into Rotorua then returned to the Chalet. We all loved waking up to the most amazing view from our room and also enjoying the evening on our balcony. You truly felt like you were on a break from your usual busy lifestyle. I didn't like that I had not initially booked for more than a two-night stay. We were all very sad on our last morning, looking out at the view from our room. Chalet Eiger's popularity at this time of the year is reflected in all their rooms being booked out already and hence, our family had to bid Chalet Eiger farewell. We have all decided Chalet Eiger is our top favourite accommodation spot on our travels thus far in New Zealand. We have been truly spoilt and YES we have decided we will all be repeat customers.
Fiona (6/5): All in all we enjoyed our stay ... - The breakfast was the best part of our stay at Chalet Eiger. Nina cooked to order beautiful English breakfasts and provided fruit platters, cereal and yogurts of gourmet standard. The location was leafy and quiet with pretty views of Lake Taupo, too far to walk to town for restaurants but the Chalet offers free shuttle in. Our only disappointment was that we didn't know to expect the dogs would be sharing the common areas, including on the furniture which was a little tired and dirty feeling. Two of our party had pet allergies so this posed a genuine problem for them. We also felt the property should be more properly described as a Bed and Breakfast.

Dipock (10/5): Don't miss out on this gem - Wow - this place was a great find! The location was quiet and secluded. The room was well furnished (seemed like it had recently been renovated with good finishes and care). The fridge was stocked with complimentary food and wine. The hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly - you feel as if you are visiting family. A really lovely place to stay!
Don (10/5): - This is a very upscale B&B. Our guest and private bathrooms were large and beautifully appointed. The view from the balcony was great. The chalet was a peaceful haven from all the activities going on in Taupo the weekend we were there. The hosts were very gracious and breakfast was superb. The only downside was the distance from the nearest restaurant.
Judy (10/5): - The property is in a beautiful location overlooking the lake and distant mountains. The accommodation was of the highest quality with a relaxing and spacious upstairs lounge with spectacular views. The owners were very welcoming and very helpful in advising choices of activities in the area. We dined in one evening and we were presented with a fine 3 course meal with wine. We would recommend that option. Breakfasts were exceptional too. An exceptional place to stay at Lake Taupo.
Verified traveler (8/5): - Nina and Peter provided a memorable experience for us during the Christmas holiday. Nina’s breakfasts were amazing with plentiful options! They really made us feel at home and tried to attend to anything we could possibly desire. The location near the center of Taupo is perfect with a beautiful view of the mountains.

We had a wonderful breakfast before we left. Hosts were very helpful and gave us good recommendations what to see from there. We really felt welcome and this is absolutely the place to stay.
Greg (10/5): Indulgent and relaxing night away - It was a pleasure to stay at this accommodation. It's private and intimate, with the hosts being attentive while also ensuring your space. Very friendly environment and lovely to be able to interact with the dogs on site (hosts don't assume and are mindful of this upfront). The breakfast was lovely and we enjoying chatting to the hosts at this time. It was a very relaxing stay and we'd definitely love to return to stay again.
Eric (10/5): Best place we stayed during our honeymoon. - Hosts were awesome. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and spent three weeks in New Zealand, traveling from the North island to the South Island. Out of all our places, this was our favorite stay. Wish we could have stayed longer and will like to stay again. It was a huge space and they cooked us a tremendous breakfast and gave us great ideas on where to go hiking.

From the beginning they made me feel home and regret, that we only stayed for one night! It was by the way the best Hotel on out vacation while in Australia and NZ! And i stayed at Sofitel usually
