We were in unit #14 which had a nice deck and partial view of the ocean…the unit above us (not sure if residence or part of property) extremely loud like they were moving furniture all weekend…bathroom is tiny with little water pressure and shower stall smaller than that on a small boat…they have pride in the property, and nicely kept and clean…did I mention a ton of stairs?! Good location and pretty quiet other than the “loud talker” guy above us moving furniture around all weekend…would likely not stay here again…extremely pricey (+$1200 for 3 nights?) for basically camping.

- Keith (10/5): - The villa was beautiful and very unique, felt very much like a fairytale with the vines. There is a little kitty that came to hang out in our room every night. Only issue was the restrooms, the doors were not functional and we did end up getting locked in a couple times.

The room had roaches! around the bathroom sink and we couldnt even sleep because they were crawling on us, the beds were uncomfortable and very squeaky. I dont wont be staying here again.

- Joanna (8/5): - Overall it’s a cute and quaint place to stay in the heart of Avalon, Catalina! My husband and I loved the architecture, landscaping and bright colors of the individual rooms. Our room was comfy and super conveniently located. Our only qualm was that our front door did not lock (rather, the lock did not work properly), so it could only be securely locked from the inside and not the outside. We notified staff and they said it would be taken care of. We would stay here again for couples! But for family’s would need a bigger room/bathroom

- Gina-Marie (8/5): - Had a very nice stay. Staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially with our luggage. While the rooms are not spectacular they are clean and it was nice to have a little kitchen, although I did not use the oven. The property is inviting with a water fountain in the front courtyard and lots of greenery that canopy over the stairs that lead to the rooms and office. It’s quiet during evening and nighttime hours, clean, and very convenient to restaurants, shopping, the beach and activities. Great place to stay if you aren’t looking for “fancy” and we will be back.

The view was wonderful, seeing both the ocean and up into the valkey & hillside. It was among local housing but so quiet and comfortable. There was a grocery store 2 blocks away and fabulous restaurants 3-4 blocks down the hill. Anything you could want to walk to was less than 20 minutes away in any direction. The staff was the BEST making sure to greet us daily, check in on any needs and getting extra pillows, towels or others requests to us in minutes.

- Gregory (10/5): Easter Break in Avalon - We loved this place. I gave it 5 stars all around considering this is perhaps the oldest hotel in Avalon built in 1910. So, don't expect the Four Seasons with granite and crystal champagne flutes. It is old, and it leans, this is about the experience, not the amenities. It is a very well taken care of hotel with great charm. The hosts were extremely nice as were all the other guests. There is the only Von's on the island very nearby, and it is a one minute walk to all the restaurants and shops. Our room had a great view of the city and harbour. My 17 year old daughter loved it. We will come back for sure.

- Gillian (6/5): - I ordered and paid for a room(s) that slept 4 so we had a bit of space. We got a room that slept 3. The shower/toilet was absolutely tiny. The kitchen was tiny with a range that had 2 working burners. The third burner was right up against the wall so we did not dare to use that. We felt the floor was going to fall off the side, it sloped so badly. The place was clean, though. There was one cleaning sponge that was very old so we did not use that.

It is a perfect short walking distance from the local shops, port of Avalon, and grocery store. The decor was so homey and comfortable, it felt so warm being there. The best part, was that it was tucked away from the busy part of Catalina, so it was so quiet and private. It was perfect for us. the owners were also so kind, and wished us well when we left. Perfect way to recharge. They also spoke Spanish so its great for Spanish speakers. We will definitely be staying here again. Thank you for having us.

Pro tip: T-Mobile gets virtually no service on the island; make sure to take advantage of the remarkably speedy and reliable hotel wifi and preload your maps.

A little hard to pull our luggage up all those stairs and down. Has pluses and minuses. Don't expect luxury. Felt safe and was clean. Price was best and it was available during a very busy weekend.

- Cassandra (10/5): - This hotel property did not disappoint. It felt just like home. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We stayed for four days so it was nice knowing that the Von’s grocery store was down the street. Definitely would recommend.
- Yazeed (4/5): - Staff were very helpful. Facility is in need of upgrade. Couldn't sleep the first night because of noise from unit above. The floors are so squeaky so it's no fault of the tenneants. Ended up leaving after the first night althougn we booked two nights.
- PL (10/5): - Cozy cottages tucked away from the main drag. Lovely courtyard with fountain greets you upon arrival. Lots of little tables and chair to enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine amongst lots of plants and trees.
- Kailey (6/5): - The vibe was very quaint and similar feel of traveling abroad in a different country. Lots of Catalina has this feel, which is lovely. My only complaint is that the coffee machine was very poor quality and coffee in unit was not provided. It would have improved our stay if there was a small drip coffee machine with coffee provided in unit. We wanted to enjoy our balcony view in the morning but had to go out to get coffee and then come back for the view. The other aspect was the shower is small and for anyone larger in stature, it would be a very tight squeeze! We did enjoy our stay, the staff was friendly and the people staying at the location were all very kind. Just a few items could be improved!
- Tricia (6/5): Anniversary Trip - The peaceful property is in walking distance to everything. There are beautiful plants everywhere. We stayed in room 12. We liked the size of the room and it was clean; however there was noticeable water damage. Certain areas of the flooring (in the bathroom and living area) were wet during our entire stay. We could not walk around in our socks without getting them wet. The shower was also extremely small.
- Carlos (10/5): - We came here for our anniversary and we loved how peaceful and beautiful everything looked. We had a cottage that was clean and loved our privacy. Definitely return here for any future trips to Catalina
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Charming and out of the fray of busy Avalon, yet a two-minute walk and you're at the waterfront. You may not want to leave though.
- Bennie (10/5): Worth A Stay - La Paloma - I definitely recommend La Paloma to other travelers to Avalon. Great location. Very good and friendly staff. Nice and quiet especially in the evening. I have stayed there probably at least three times and will do so again next time I visit Avalon.

- Cuiyan (10/5): - We arrived at Friday night. Right after we took off from the Catalina Express, I called the front desk and told them that we would be there soon. It only took 7 minutes from the terminal to the hotel, very walkable even with the suitcase. The office is upstairs which is not accessible. But it is OK for my family. The staff was waiting in the office to check us in. Our room is on the top of the hallway with steps. It is not modern or fashionable, but very clean and cozy. We like the small kitchen and dining, which is very convenient for us. The second morning, with the sunlight, we finally saw the gardens. Not big but very beautiful. BBQ is easy to use. The location of the hotel is very quiet and convenient, close to Vons, the beach, the Museum of Art and History, and the marketplace. We had enough rest every day after a couple of activities. If you don't mind stairs, and no need for free breakfast, I highly recommend this hotel. By the way, the neighbors are very nice!! They have tons of bird feeders in their yards and balconies. We love to see birds, butterflies, and hummingbirds every morning and afternoon in the alley.
