- Bastiaan (9/5): Heerlijke overnachting in Romantisch Slot - Prachtige hotel in mooi Schloss in heerlijke omgeving.

- Johan (10/5): The perfect stop-over on a European road-trip - Unique hotel in a historic and historical castle. Beautiful room. Very helpful staff. Dog friendly. The food alone is worth the trip. EV charger Nothing
- Carsten (7/5): A beautiful, romantic, charming and historic place ... with some attitude problems. - Hidden in forest upon a hilltop this remarkable and historic Schloss Hohenstein Hotel apears for your eyes. It is a unique location that tells its own story from just being there and absorbing its spirit. Today it has been refurbished into a romantic hotel with unique setting and luxury rooms. The perfect place for a couple get away, though it appears mostly used by locals. Standing in the court yard looking up upon a star spangled sky gives you goose bumps. Interior is a fascinating blend between authentic 1600 hundred and modern comfort. Bathroom was small but in high modern quality and at high functional level. An exquisite and beautiful experience. While booking at Hotel Schloss Hohenstein I announced my arrival 20.30 and asked kindly to keep the kitchen open for ordering a warm meal. My son and I had been driving 800 km, but at arrival I was told the kitchen had closed at 20.00 and I could only order from a small menu. In fact I was told this was the only available menu that evening. That appeared not to be true as one guest received a well prepared warm meal 21.30 and another guest at 22.15. This made me express my undevided disappointment with the management of my arrival and reuqest.
The management must change their attitude and understand that they are running a service business, where customer experience matters. Keeping rules square as a box is not supporting that. Closing a kitchen at 20.00 is first of all extremely early, and denying a guest ordering 20.30 while serving warm meals to the rest of the restaurant till 22.15 is an insult. Under the conditions my request was absolutely not unreasonable and a positive response should have been the one and only response. No discussions ... always positive!!
- Sandra (10/5): Ein Geheimtipp - Tolle Atmosphäre, besondere Übernachtung mir Stil und Flair, sehr freundliche Gastgeberin, sehr gute Küche, guten Wein, fantastisches Frühstück…. ein toller Ort zum Verweilen.
- Susanne (10/5): - Unglaublich freundliches Personal, alles toll!
- Hwee (10/5): Enchanting stay - Unique stay experience in a 700 yrs old castle. Love the whole experience. The lady at the reception is really lovely and she assigned us a nice room with great views. Food at the restaurant is exceptional, every dish was well executed! The mix of flavours, texture and look of each dish is perfect! Nothing I dislike! Love everything

- David (8/5): Restaurant with rooms - Lovely building in a secluded setting. Nice bathroom and a comfortable bed. Good breakfast. The quality of the breakfast reflected the fact that this was probably a good restaurant, so if we went back we would make sure that the restaurant was open. The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday. There is no food available in the hotel, and most local restaurants are shut on Mondays, so you need to plan ahead for this. There is a small honesty bar which was helpful. We had a picnic in the room.
Most of the ancillary rooms were locked up, and there were no staff around, so it was very quiet overnight.

- Alan (9/5): 700 year old Castle! - Tranquility, good mattresses, excellent food at both the evening paid meal and the breakfast included. A true castle experience! Lovely rooms and furnishings! Too many steps and various levels. Not convenient with my weak knee. It would be unmanageable for someone with a cane or Walker. Make sure you have a good NAVI / GPS to find the place!!
- Martine (10/5): Fantastic stay at Easter. - Very good dinner, and outstanding wines!!
Very friendly and professional owners and personnel.
Beautiful castle on a top location.
- Brandon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brandon (10/5): Exceptional - The first thing that stands out is the amazing are around Schloß Hohenstein. You're greeted with it on the drive. The Schloß itself has it's own amazing charm that you have to see to believe.
The hotel staff were some of the friendliest I have ever experienced in all the hotels I've ever stayed in. They made us feel welcomed during our entire stay. The hotel restaurant is absolutely amazing! Delicious regional food, paired with amazing wines. This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, and we will be back for another visit. Everything was perfect!
- Armel (10/5): Exceptional - The atmosphere of the hotel was exceptional, the food was excellent, our apartment was very clean and comfortable, and staff were very accommodating and attentive. We would definitely return.
- Judith-zentner (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (7/5): A restaurant with rooms good for a stopover. - It was a quiet location not too far from Coburg. The location was more remote than expected and the car park is 100 meters down hill. Being surrounded with trees there was no aspect.
I had requested a lower room with few stairs but was allocated a turret room in a tower. This was changed to a lower room only because the fridge in the room was not working and it was a hot day.
The breakfast was disappointing as it took 3 attempts to get a poached egg cooked correctly - not good from what is a highly-rated restaurant.
There were small issues that need to be rectified e.g no milk in the fridge for tea in the room and no coffee in room, mugs with no handles (trendy but not practical) and no assistance offered with bags from car.
- Guy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Massie (10/5): Highly recommend it if you’re going to Coburg area - A luxury hotel in a well maintained medieval castle. Excellent staff. Nothing
- Blagovest (10/5): Exceptional -
- Malte (9/5): Superb - Location room food Shower
- Darrel (10/5): Beauty & comfort in a historic castle! - Our suite was very spacious and beautifully decorated & designed. We loved the furnishings and taking walks on the grounds. The breakfast was the best we have eaten in a hotel. The WiFi was a little weak in our room, but this wasn't a problem, really.
- Randy (10/5): Gorgeous building, amazing food - Gorgeous castle on beautiful grounds. Amazing dinner in the restaurant. modern facilities in a building full of history. breakfast was excellent. A special part of a friends trip. we will be back. appreciated having the “honor bar” available. A separate shampoo/conditioner from the body shower gel would be nice. otherwise a perfect stay.
- Ruediger (9/5): Superb -
- Gerd (10/5): excellent cuisine surrounded by beautiful gardens - Wonderfully located within an English Garden, with plenty of crypto- romantic surprise, like a Dragon Grotto, the most memorable experience is the excellent cuisine, from breakfast to dinner arrangement with a insightful recommendation of wines, we have not expected. our room in the adjacent Meierei was comfy and nice, not overly equipped with extras or amenities. during the day we spent our time hiking through the amazing countryside and nearby historical sights. the perfect spot for a couple of relaxed days. the in-depth knowledge of the service blew us away.
- Mikael (10/5): Stay in a real castle. - Genuine castle, great staff, suites. Missing cosy bar/bierstube.
- Kenneth (10/5): Live like royalty at this castle. - This castle is truly memorable. The rooms are all unique and beautiful, everything is spotless, parking is free, and the staff very friendly. The breakfast is the best we've ever had anywhere with usual German fare plus hot specials cooked to your liking. The staff are incredibly pleasant and helpful (we like to play cards with the couple we were travelling with and they set us up in a beautiful room every evening we were there). This is a really fantastic place to stay at a great price. Really nothing to complain about. The castle is remote and you need a car to access it (there are no restaurants or services close by). The hotel restaurant has gone totally gourmet for dinners which is not our style but it was fully booked.
- Natalia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): Was an enjoyable castle to stay at. Very romantic get away. - The atmosphere of the castle and it’s beauty. Check in. No one there and since traveling from USA had very little internet service. Finding where our room was located was confusing. Also once we got internet service our email cut off name of room. Another couple staying helped us to find room and how it worked.
- Eugenia (10/5): excellent hotel - everything n/a
- Anonymous (10/5): Fantastic!! - Very nice castle!! Our room was incredible!! The photos on Booking.com didn’t do it justice. Loved our stay and explore the castle. Wish we’d had time and better weather (raining) to explore the lovely park/ground attached to the castle. Breakfast was nice. The woman that severed our breakfast was so, so sweet and helpful and spoke English well. Nothing
- Mahamadou (8/5): wonderful - very beautiful surroundings, both outside and inside. more choices at the restaurant could be better
- Reinhard (9/5): Superb -
