- Dennis (8/5): Overall, we were very happy with our stay, which included an Afternoon Tea which was excellent. - Friendly and helpful staff, plenty of Free Parking, Easy walk to the beach, excellent Breakfast. Our room was on the ground floor, next to the building entrance. This at times made the room at bit 'noisy' from people coming and going and from the room above us.

Unfortunately we also had some very drunk loud people in there which ruined our visit but understand this is not fault of the hotel.

- Ian (10/5): memorable - An incredible hotel! The restaurant was fantastic with the Host Chris being such a wonderful front of house character! The service was spot on and the the food was delicious!! The room was amazing and the bed incredibly comfortable. The spa was luxurious and the overall welcome was warm and and very satisfying If I had to find something to criticise it would e only that there are not enough loungers in the pool area and despite the rules being clear, some people abused the rule of not saving beds......
- Victoria (10/5): Fantastic weekend break to relax - We stayed in an original Climping Room which was situated close to the main building. The room was clean with everything you could need. The bed was very comfortable. Staff were warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was exceptionally good. Great spa facilities. Amazing grounds to wander around in. Lots of beautiful woodland walks and the beach was a short 5-10 minute walk away.

Nice areas to sit in the lounges, close to beach and local pub. Spa pools were excellent, outdoor one heated enough to swim in February. Would be useful when booking to know which rooms are in which buildings, and which have amenities eg fireplace, four poster bed etc.

All Staff and manager actually care, and seem very happy to be at this hotel.

- Jessica (10/5): - The service was exceptional. Friendly and experienced staff at dinner and reception. Enjoyed the dinner and breakfast menu. The spa was lovely and my treatment very relaxing. There was lots of help and facilities for our 9 month old baby, e.g. cot and highchair. Close to the coast and scenic walks, and a lively local pub. Only one thing, which I should have avoided: walking from our room to the spa in dressing gown in Jan was bracing!

Great breakfast, very friendly staff, hopefully I can stay again at some point! It is an expensive hotel but I think you get what you pay for, so was definitely worth the money spent. Nothing not to like.

The pool was a good temperature and the facilities at the pool really good and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay Unfortunately we had terrible rain and the buildings are all a short walk outside but the hotel supplied plenty of umbrellas.

- Michael (9/5): - A wonderful place with great staff and magnificent food. Our guests all said it was the best meal they had eaten out for years and they loved the whole place. We had dinner for 6 of us and perfectly reasonably tis was not in the main restaurant. It was in one of the sitting rooms which was a perfect place to dine. However, the table needs to be set with proper dining chairs as the lounge chairs are just not suitable for comfortable eating. In addition, the wine lit offered some ‘seasonal wines’ but most were not available- so why not remove them from the list? Furthermore, we orders a lovely bottle of Valpolicella Ripasso (which was as good as expected) but when we tried to get other one they said they had run out! How does a hotel of this size and quality allow their stock to be so poorly managed?

The rooms are amazing …… great comfort, facilities and the spa is wonderful all round. The staff are great, and the restaurant is wonderful too. I won’t complain for the sake of it……there was nothing you could say really. We missed out getting treatments at the spa, but that was down to us not booking early enough. So no complaints actually

The four poster bed seemed small, the sofa was uncomfortable, the room smelt musty, and although the size and facilities in the bathroom were great, there was no blind at the window which looked out over a car parking area.

The spa is very good (better in summer when you can use the outdoor pool and grounds) The spa area needed to be tidied up (removing old cups and glasses and towels etc ) not enough beds around pool for users but they are constrained by area.

- PAUL (10/5): A great time at a venue we have visited many times. - We liked the excellent service. We all enjoyed the dinner and breakfast. Special praise for manager Chris and our Hugarian waiter. Hand basin in ensuite slow to drain.
- AMHG (10/5): Fantastic weekend spa getaway with my girlfriend — the shame was that we could only stay one night! - Things started well when going up the drive and approaching the cheerily-lit main building. A very welcoming receptionist, happy to give us extra teabags etc, was on duty and got someone to take us to our rooms via a Bond-esque underground tunnel. The room was stately yet cosy, with tasteful furnishings. Managed to get an hour of spa (a very impressive facility in itself, including the fact it was open til 9pm), as well as some more time the next morning, even after checking out. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic (a cooked main was included in addition to the huge buffet spread) — friendly waitresses happy to bring more pots of tea as desired. Finally, long after checking out, we were allowed to relax for an hour or so with the paper in one of the lovely fireplace-warmed sitting rooms (a manager even came and brought us some pots of tea and biscuits and said there was no hurry to leave). Overall, a truly delightful stay to celebrate my commissioning from Sandhurst that day — very much enjoyed by my girlfriend too! The single disappointment was very low water pressure in the shower, almost a trickle.

- Margaret (9/5): - Bailiffs Court is a wonderfully unique and charming hotel, full of historic, quintessentially English character. The setting feels like a peaceful escape from the bustle of nearby towns, with beautiful grounds, plentiful parking, and, during our stay, some truly lovely Christmas decorations. Inside, there are plenty of cosy spaces to sit, chat, and enjoy a drink, and the atmosphere throughout is luxurious and inviting. Dinner was excellent, with a great choice of wines, breakfast was excellent with great choices of buffet and cooked food. Although we didn't use it this time, the spa remains a real highlight. We were kindly given a room upgrade on arrival, and the period room was beautiful; however, it did unfortunately have a very musty smell when we entered. We opened the windows and even lit the (admittedly gorgeous) fire, but the smell lingered. The plumbing also seemed a little inefficient, with low water pressure. What left us slightly disappointed was that at check-out we weren’t asked whether everything had been satisfactory. I mentioned the room concerns tactfully, mainly so the hotel was aware for future guests, but the response was minimal and we didn’t receive an apology. It wasn’t the reaction we expected from a hotel of this calibre. Despite these points, Bailiffs Court remains a unique and luxurious place to stay, and we’ve had wonderful experiences there before. With a little more attention to guest feedback, it could easily match the exceptional standards it aims to deliver. Musty smell in rooms and low water pressure in shower.

- Roger (8/5): Beware the scalding! - Peace and quiet. Comfortable bed. Lovely staff. Excellent food. Relaxing spa. Plenty of parking. Fresh milk delivered to the room was a nice touch. Scalding hot water to the dangerous level. Made worse by having to stand in the bath to shower - feet got scalded we hilst trying to set the mix. No reading lights when in bed. Old furniture dumped around. Kettle in wardrobe on sliding shelf, nowhere near a power point!

- Maurice (5/5): Disappointing stay, come for lunch and walk to the beach instead. - The main building is obviously stunning and full of history. The restaurant staff was friendly and very professional (maybe thanks to the additional 12% gratuity included on your F&B bill). The food for lunch and dinner was also good and we loved the walk to the nearby beach for sunset. For almost 500 USD (360£), we stayed in a building that looked like an ugly suburb of London (see photos). The room itself was grim, 2000s « modern » but in bad condition (e.g. the wooden headboard/bedhead was full of marks, the shower wasn’t working properly and it was hard to maintain temperature). The breakfast was below average (probably because it was included and such a disappointment when the restaurant food was actually good the previous day). This breakfast is just another symptom of this hotel being optimized financially: way too many bedrooms with these additional buildings and day-only spa guests which led to the main building and spa feeling overcrowded on a Monday. As I said, the restaurant staff is friendly and professional but I did not have the same experience with the front desk: no one asked me about my stay at checkout after spending 900 USD total in less than 24 hours? I would have express my disappointment then and not here.
