Guest Reviews
- Marina (10/5): Next time in Edinburgh I will try to stay here again - It’s so pretty, nice place. New , clean, cozy. Lovely house. And gifts for us!! So smell!! I don’t drink, but smell was amazing Nothing
- Raima (9/5): - access to clean kitchen and complimentary snacks
- Grace (10/5): -

- Jorja (10/5): - Really great location, felt very welcomed. Will definitely come again!
- Claudia (10/5): Super accogliente stile inglese/scozzese - Appartamento comodo, elegante, super accogliente stile inglese. Tutto perfetto.

- Richard (10/5): - Excellent experience and beautiful stay! Thank you!
Her seyden cok memnun kaldik. Sevmedigimiz hicbir sey yoktu, ancak agir valizi olanlar icin belki en ust katta konaklamak merdivenler açısından sıkıntı olabilir, biz sorun yasamadik.
- yi (10/5): warm hearted host, beautiful place, i will be back - The location is not directly in the city centre but i am very happy to do the 20minutes walk and to be in a residential area
- LAIA (10/5): Beautiful house, wonderful staff, great neighbourhood. - Beautiful house, wonderful staff, great neighbourhood.
- Paul (9/5): -
- Andrea (10/5): - A beautiful property within walking distance to the main attractions of Edinburgh.
Shirley provided a map and advice on surrounding eateries and attractions.
Our room was beautifully furnished and we were supplied with a selection of nibbles.
A lovely place.
- Stephen (9/5): All in all this is a superb guest house well worth your consideration. - I really enjoyed the room, it was very clean on a daily basis and it was really quiet. I enjoyed the shower, it had great pressure. Shirley was a fantastic host, who provided lots of tips for around Edinburgh and she also provided snack in the room on a daily basis. The Scottish Whiskey was also a very nice touch This is very subjective, but I didn't really care for the bed its self. I have slept on much worse but I also have slept on better beds. It was definitely the least comfortable of the three beds I slept on during my vacation. I would have liked a firmer mattress that had a little more padding. Again though, mattresses are really a subjective thing, and something that I might find comfortable, someone else would find uncomfortable, so don't let this deter you from staying here.
- Karen (8/5): A bit expensive for being outside the center but quiet - The bed was very comfortable and the decoration was lovely. We were given a taste of scotch in little crystal glasses and some chocolates and granola bars on the first day in a small fridge. The step down to the bathroom was a head-hitting hazard but at least the shower worked well and it meant the bathroom was larger. It was a bit expensive for the location outside the city centre.
- Fiona (7/5): Couple break - Close to the town, can get the bus outside or 15/20 minute walk up to Royal Mile and tourist attractions. Really would have liked this to be Bed and Breakfast to get a more personal experience but plenty of places to eat around the town and tea/coffee facilities in room.
- Elke (9/5): - Überaus freundlich, sehr sauber, ruhig, tolle Lage
- Wendy (9/5): Nice stay in Edinburgh - Nicely appointed suite. Beautifully maintained home. Lovely touches to make it a comfortable stay. Having to walk through second bedroom to get to washroom.
- Louise (10/5): Lovely stay - Welcoming hosts who communicated very well in the run up to our trip. Gave tips on places to visit and local eateries. Spotless room and nice touches such as dram of whiskey and chocolates on arrival. Would recommend. Nothing
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional - Mags is delightful and gave us some helpful information.
- Alanna (10/5): - Lovely little guest house, great location to get downtown. Margaret was very sweet and let us check in early.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good - Nice, clean comfortable room, serviced daily. Margaret was very attentive, providing a solution to a small issue we had. The little decanter of whisky went down well with hubby too. Just a couple of niggly things for us - kettle didn't fit under the bathroom tap so it was difficult to fill up and due to the way the window opened we got rather hot as air coming in didn't circulate around the room, just behind the blind but overall nothing to dislike.
- Billy (10/5): Exceptional - Brilliant hosts. Very kind and helpful!
The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable.
- Victor (9/5): Great real Scottish experience - Every detail was taken care off. Margaret was lovely and welcoming.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely weekend stay - Antler Guest House was ideally located for our weekend stay in Leith.
The No. 11 bus put us practically at the door and having the tram nearby was great.
There are loads of places to eat and drink nearby. We liked the Brunswick Book Club with its heated outside terrace and La Casa (although the latter isn’t ideal for people with hearing difficulties - all hard surfaces means it’s incredibly noisy, but the food was very nice).
Shirley and Margaret are great hosts who took time to make sure we had everything we needed.
The house in general is lovely and our room was very impressive, beautifully decorated and with some really thoughtful touches. My husband in particular enjoyed the ‘wee dram’ that was provided and the information folder was very helpful. For me I was very happy to find there was a proper hairdryer provided, which would save me having to pack my own in future.
Thanks for a lovely stay. We would definitely return.
- Matúš (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! Very nice and clean, peaceful location and very good located. All needed were in close distance. And our host was amazing and very helpful! :)) Definitely recommend!
- Clemens (9/5): Superb - Everything was very nice! It was a bit cold in the room
- Maximilian (10/5): Exceptional - The accomodation was just amazing!
The room was big and bright. The owers were so sweet and gave us plenty of recommendations what to do on a weekend in Edinburgh.
The location of the house is perfect. It's in between Leith and Edinburgh Center. Within less than 40 minutes of walking you are at Edinburgh Castle (to other parts of the city or the Royal Mile much faster). Also the Tram or busses depart almost directly in front of the door. To the airport it takes you around 50 minutes to 1 hour by bus or tram. For us, that was really convenient!
All in all it was a 10/10 for us and we would come back anytime!
- Tim (10/5): Super host, superb accommodation - Perfectly located, so reasonably priced, superb facilities - all tastefully done with style and panache.
Shirley was outstanding, all the top tips worked so well added to the flexibility to leave bags and to delay our checkout. Very much appreciated.
We’ll be back for sure - together with my classy new handmade socks from Coburg Art Studios. Absolutely nothing…
- Shirin (10/5): - Gorgeous property in really convenient location. Thank you for having us!
- Huisoon (8/5): It was a good stay overall - Decor Teeny Bathroom
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Very clean and tidy. Comfortable and very decent. Not very spacious and u need to walk up the stairs with your heavy luggages
- Kerrie (8/5): Very good -
- Olivia (10/5): Magnificent. The owner was super lovely. - Very clean, big windows which let in plenty of light and well connected with bus routes.
- Isabella (9/5): Highly recommend this guest house, we had an amazing time! - The room was lovely. We had the room on the top floor. The room as spacious and quiet. The bathroom was detached but we didn’t mind it at all. The location was great too, connection to the bus, tram and so much was within walking distance. The only negative we had was the shower. The water pressure wasn’t very good. That isn’t a problem if you have short hair but with long hair it was a bit of a problem. Other than that, we had a lovely stay!
- Prudholme (8/5): Worth the price for the location and the service. Host was very sweet and knowledgeable about Edinburgh. Thank you for y - Very nice! Clean and neat on the inside! Very well kept up. Street can be noisy with night owls. Seagulls make a lot of noise at the crack of dawn.
- Alison (9/5): Great place to stay Shirley is a lovely host giving some ideas of places to visit, very clean fresh towels and bedding, - Fabulous location lovely and clean! Would definitely stay again! Nothing
- Gloria (10/5): Beautiful room and lovely host - The room is beautiful and in very good condition, just like the pictures. Nothing
- Ben (9/5): A beautiful clean and comfortable guest house. - Beautiful period property on quiet street with (4 hour paid on-street parking 8.30am- 6.30pm opposite, so possible to park overnight). We had the triple room. Comfy double bed, single bed a bit firm. Bathroom lovely, nice towels! We met Margaret who was very welcoming. The blinds do not stop the light coming in much! Take a sleep mask if you are sensitive to light in the morning! The en-suite was off the single room, so you had to go through this to access it- not ideal with young adult who sleeps longer than his parents (who have been woke up by the light!) in there! Just to put people in the picture- would have been good to know this in advance!
- Jill (10/5): Lovely and peaceful - Shirley and Margaret were lovely hosts! The room is so cute, the place is very clean, and it was quiet and comfortable.
It’s on a quiet street away from the festivities of Old Town but close enough to easily catch an Uber or bus. The #11 bus runs right in front of the guest house and takes you to Princes St where it’s an easy walk to everything. Buses are easy to take, tap your credit card and have a seat- no tickets required.
There were small two cafes nearby we went for breakfast, Kukina and Bonnington Brunch and a nearby pub (Brass Monkey) that had really good Philly Cheesesteak, burgers (and other stuff) for an easy bite when we had a long day. Theres also a laundromat by Kukina and Brass Monkey that was convenient but I recommend getting there when they open, it is small and washers filled up quick the day I went.
The only issue we had, and for me more of an inconvenience, was I booked on hotels.com and selected pay at hotel. Please select pay online through hotels.com or whoever you book through. The ladies are not set up to accept credit card payments. I had to pull out cash. I called my bank asked for an increase in ATM withdrawals and paid that way. I would rather not done it that way and thought hotels.com shouldn’t offer pay at the hotel option for this one so just make it easy pay online.
This place is such a gem!! Definitely book it!
- Benedikt (9/5): Superb - We had a nice room that was comfortable. The Guesthouse is very nicely located a little bit outside the very crowded old town. It was great to reach by tram from the airport. There were plenty of places nearby for breakfast and also for food in the evening.
- 2mm (8/5): Very good - Location No AC
- Julia (9/5): A really comfortable place in a quiet street with easy access to the city - It’s a beautifully decorated place and the room was lovely with a brand new looking bathroom and an amazing rainfall shower. The thoughtful touches - a wee dram and some chocolates for your arrival - were especially appreciated. The comms were a bit tricky and I was hoping to drop my case when I arrived earlier than check-in but no one was answering the phone.
- Marylu (10/5): I would return! - This property is centrally located, Margaret the host is the sweetest host I’ve ever come across, she is very helpful as well. The house is decorated beautifully and it is very clean and comfortable. Nothing!
- Brian (8/5): A cosy, clean and welcoming stay! - Margaret made us feel very welcome in her lovely guest house. She was helpful and gave advice on areas to visit etc. The room was small but very clean and nicely decorated, the bathroom was also very small but clean and fine for our short stay. It was a lovely touch that Margaret left snacks and drinks for us in the room! It was a short walk to a bus stop and tram stop. The room and bathroom were quite small and would probably be unsuitable for a longer stay. An option for breakfast would have been nice, but the tea and coffee supplies were plentiful.
- Sylvia (9/5): Lovely property and owners. Definitely recommend - No breakfast included but there are tea and coffee available for making plus a couple packets of cookies/granola bars
Bus right outside the door and tram (to airport) is 3 minute walk. Lots of restaurants along the street (Leith)
- Brandon (8/5): Cute little B&B - If you want to get away from the touristy vibes of Edinburgh this is a cozy little spot in Leith. Close to all transportation and a short bike ride away from the beach...with that being said the seagulls in the area would not stop squawking even into the night time hours
- Saltmarsh (9/5): Superb - Very clean. Very comfortable. Lovely extras. Lovely staff If you are staying in Cardhu room and you are taller than 170cm, mind your head going from the room to the bathroom!
- Mike (9/5): Superb -
- Tim (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): - This was a great place to stay. Really nice room, close to everything you need and a great jumping off point for exploring the city.
- Heinz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (10/5): - Our room had everything we needed. Very clean and modern. Bus stop right outside the guest house or tram 10 minute walk up the road. Great for our 3 night stay in Edinburgh.
- Grant (9/5): Superb - It is the only guesthouse that gives whisky on arrival. The building was super clean.
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and really clean. The room was really lovely and the addition of snacks in the room was a lovely treat. Shirley and Margaret are amazing and lovely hosts.
- Grant (10/5): A beautiful room in a great location with very friendly staff, all at a low price! - The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Went above and beyond to make us comfortable and to accommodate me since I was traveling with medication that required cold storage. Room was beautiful and comfortable as well, in addition to being directly off a bus line!
- Jenny (9/5): Superb -
- Diyana (10/5): Excellent - It is very clean and cosy
- Ricardo (8/5): Quaint house, quiet street - easy access to centre - The guest house is located in a quiet residential area a block away from a commercial road and easily accesible to/from the city centre.
The bus stops are right in front of the house and it only takes 15 mins to get to the centre.
The house is nicely decorated and very clean. The room we got was spot on with everyting needed. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom looked newly renovated.
Ms. Margaret (host) is wonderful and very eager to help with anything you might need.
- Lawton (10/5): Beautiful and amazing thank you so much, best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. - How homely and cosy it was and was a nice warm welcome to the hotel. N/A
- Marianne (10/5): Exceptional - The warm hospitality of our host, the comfort of the Jura room, with cozy seats and treats to enjoy the morning sun in front of the bow window, the separate room for the single bed, the location (direct connection to the city center and to the airport)…. Everything was perfect
- Waheeda (9/5): Superb - Excellent location. Good transport links into city centre which was also within walking distance. Took tram back to the airport.
- Chun (10/5): A fantastic place to stay in Edinburgh! - The property was located not far from the city centre, with great amenities, and tasteful decor. Our host Margaret was very lovely and gave us a lot of great suggestions for places to eat and visit. Nothing!
- Elizabeth (5/5): Hard to sleep. Great location. - The mattress springs were uncomfortable.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Kathleen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simone (9/5): Perfect for Edinburgh - Margarete really cared for us. She was always available to give support. Antler Guest house is perfectly located, close to stops of public transport and easy to walk even to the Old Town. It was spotless clean and very tasteful decorated. The road is quiet at night. The mattress is a little wobbly and turning around whilst sleeping wakes the other one.
- Martin (8/5): Comfortable stay in easily accessed guest house. Public transport to/ from City centre easy and regular. Would stay - Friendly welcome. Clean and tidy room. Room on the small side.
- Julià (9/5): Very good - It,s a pity there is no breakfast
- David (10/5): Had a great stay. Would stay again - The property was impeccably. Good location Parking was a problem. Could not park near property
- Joanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Krystal (9/5): Superb -
- Ecda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robyn (8/5): Close to Edn centre - Can catch the number 11 bus into town right at the front door. Lovely room, friendly hosts. Nice whiskey & chocolates in the room. Beautiful decor. Small bed. Would have liked a breakfast option
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional - Shirley was excellent so helpful and knowledgeable about Edinburgh. Snacks in the room were fantastic. Would definitely stay there again .
- Liz (8/5): Great enjoyable stay once we worked out the parking issue. - Very clean and beautifully presented. The information on Booking . com says there is street parking. this is no longer the case during the week. Our reason for choosing to stay here was partly based on ease of parking. We were not pleased to pay £48 for 2 nights parking in a car park.
- Lis (9/5): Lovely room and kind hostess. - The hostess was very informative and friendly. The room was very clean and the house excellently maintained.
- Misty (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (9/5): A very comfortable stay, very well located and a beautiful room. - A very comfortable stay, very well located and a beautiful room.
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. Our room was really nice with comfy bed and lots of space. The shower was perfect after walking around all day - like a waterfall.
- Brian (9/5): Weekend at the Antler Guest House - Very clean, comfortable bed, great shower, nicely situated just off the main road, handy for jumping on the tram/bus up to Princes Street or walking (30 mins) nice touch with the welcoming dram of whisky and chocolate's, no breakfast service but tea/coffee and cereal bar, overall a very enjoyable weekend. Nowhere to iron clothes but then again we didn't ask if there was an ironing board available, we did manage with a wee bit of improvisation.
- Alex (9/5): Superb - Really comfortable lovely room, immaculately clean, lovely touch of snacks and a drop of welcome whiskey, no negatives about the accommodation Slightly out of the centre but public transport links are good
- Natalie (9/5): Superb -
- Marianthi (10/5): Highly recommended house in Edinburgh! - We got a beautiful, cosy room in this beautiful house! Everything was perfect! Ms Margaret was very helpful and gave us all the info needed. In the room we got info about places to visit and eat. This was very useful! Once back to Edinburgh, we will definitely stay there again! Everything was perfect!
- Nadia (10/5): Room and bathroom very clean, Margaret was lovely, I would definitely recommend this accommodation. -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely place but parking an issue. - Very well presented rooms in a great location. Quiet at night too, which is a bonus. Couple of issues for us, I had booked the superior room with two singles and a double, but room was actually a double with a very small single bed in an ante-room. Although the description says free on-street parking, this isn't accurate and we were advised that parking at John Lewis might be a good option, despite that being a 25 minute walk away. Did find free parking close by, but it is only free after 5.30 and before 8.30, so had to wait to go back to the guesthouse and leave early to avoid getting a ticket.
- Abigail (10/5): Exceptional -
