Guest Reviews
- Bonnie (4/5): Convenient location, basic accommodations - The communication was responsive however it's not clear what benefit there is to having to request the check-in information vs automatically emailing it to me. The doorway is incredibly hard to find even with the photo in check in instructions as the alley is dark. It should be noted the apt is up 3 flights of stairs, a struggle with luggage. Although agent replied quickly, action was not taken. Upon arrival, I noticed the hand soap was empty and the shower drain was clogged. Water accumulates in less than 1 minute and is slow to drain. Bathroom missing bathmat/towel. I mentioned all of this at check in and they said they would send someone but nothing was done. The shower shelf is loose and lopsided, toiletries fall down.
on checkout, I came into the apt at 10:55am to see that the apt door was open, sheets had already been changed, and some flowers I meant to take with me were thrown away. Check out is 11am so someone had clearly been in there for some time. I would expect any cleaning access to occur AFTER I had left and to NOT leave the door open when my things were still in the apt. This last part is not ok.
- Adam (10/5): - Pretty apartment, beautiful view and outstanding communication.
Location was 10/10
Would definitely stay again
- Tyler (4/5): - The listing showed an air conditioner unit in the bedroom, but it had been removed from the wall. The unit in the living room was broken and would not stay on. The hosts were very ineffective at managing this problem during our stay. Multiple times they would not respond to Whatsapp messages regarding this reoccurring issue.
- Cicero (10/5): Great location. - Finding the property was easy to find and the location was excellent. The room was large and clean, the eating area was more than adequate (you won't be coming any 5 course meals but it was ideal for breakfast. Checking in was easy and having a code to come in instead of a key (also available) was great for beach days.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great little room - Great location right in Old Town. Ana was very responsive on messages.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This place was OK to stay. I stayed in DS1. It had washer and dryer in the unit. Few things that I didn’t like was following:
1. The old town main entrance was at north west corner, but this place located at south East corner. It was long way to walk. If anyone has problems with walking long way, don’t choose DS1.
2. I don’t know about crime rate in the city, but you are on your own at all time and no know will receive your call at nighttime. I had to check all the doors and windows to secure the place.
3. I felt that It will be better if bed sheets could be little more cleaner.
I also had Difficulty on finding hotel late night without cellphone signal and Instructions on opening doorlock was confusing, but I already told the hotel about this. So I hope they fixed it by now.
The following is nothing to do with hotel but My personal disappointment about the old town city. Dubrovnik was my dream place but after I visited once, I was very disappointed. It is because of dining cost. US dollar to Kuna is about 1:7, but I only got 550 kuna with $100 bill at the airport. The Old town Main Street dining place charge about 200-300 kuna per meal. It is about $40-60. I didn’t expect to spend $40-60 per meal even while I am on vacation. I think they really need to lower dining cost if they want me to revisit the place.
- richard (10/5): Dubrovnik Penthouse - Fabulous location view over the main street.
- Samuel (10/5): Wonderful balcony - Excellent apartment, wish we could have stayed for a week. I will always look for the balcony on photos of Dubrovnik
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the location! Was easy to locate and the staff were really friendly. With no reception, the emails and messages ensured there was no confusion or stress. The apartment itself was stunning
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is in a great location. Was not pleased that we were given torn towels and there was no matress cover on the bed. The bathroom.smells very strongly of damp.and the extractor unit fir the restaurant at the front is right by the apartment window so the flat smells of cooking smells all the time. If yiu have any mobility issues do not book as there is a soiiral stair case.
- seth (10/5): - This was a very unique and comfortable place to stay. The location in old town Dubrovnik is amazing and it allowed for being in the town before and after the boards of people show up during the day.
- Hilda (8/5): very local site - it was a little difficult to find the apartment, and so many steps didn't help. You need to have wifi or internet to receive the final instructions. Once we arrived it was really nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic apartment right on the mains square. Very spacious and well appointed. Very welcoming
- Terry (6/5): - Location in the Old City was EXCELLENT! Just outside the Cathedral; central to all that the Old City has to offer. Unit DB3 was billed as an efficiency apartment on the 3rd level. First-time visitors to the Old City should be aware that stairs are a fact of life there; come prepared to lug baggage up 72 narrow steps from entrance to apartment; 88 steps from street level. Apartment comfortable enough; clean.
- Cindy (8/5): - Spacious. Comfortable bed and near lots of restauryand shops. Didn’t like having to haul our luggage in and out of the Old Town.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is in great location right in old Town minutes walk to everything, however is located above a seafood restaurant and had a funky odor not sure if from the restaurant or the cleaning solutions they used.
Also since right in old Town if you're light sleeper may be too noisy for you.
- Rhian (8/5): Location - Great location within the old town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location! Narrow stairways. Felt cozy. And right in the heart of old town Dubrovnik
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Apartment is outdated, AC was broken and they did not fix it during our stay. Customer service was not helpful they don’t check in with you throughout your stay. They aren’t even willing to hold your luggage in their office if you arrive before check in time. Not worth the price I paid. Very disappointing.
- Colette (10/5): Lovely apartment - The apartment was perfect for our stay. We especially loved the patio for enjoying a meal as the sunset. It is a great location. The customer service is fantastic and incredibly helpful. A wonderful experience all around!
- Kieron (10/5): Amazing views - The views from the DD4 terrace were breathtaking. It overlooks the main entrance road, and the music was loud into the night. But it is part of the atmosphere. Very clean. Great shower. Be prepared - there are 4 flights of steep winding stairs to get to this unit. Easy to find. Good WiFi. Emailed directions were clear. However, there is zero customer service from the emails. I sent several and never received any responses.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location in old town. Easy instructions on how to check in and get key. Room was excellent. The only problem could be that it’s up 3 flights of stairs and that may be a problem for some.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The view was great! ..........................
- Johnny (8/5): - Great location the only problem was the noise . The apartment is located above a restaurant so the noise would end at 1 am and start at 5 am . Very hard to sleep.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very central location - excellent for exploring city.
Need to be aware that property is on 3rd floor and spiral staircase so narrow steps. It was noisy at night and whilst this didn’t bother us some people may find it too much
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Ver nice apartment very good location, nice decorated
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location was great, however, it was very noisy with the bars, restaurants below as well as remodeling.
The bed was very comfortable
The stairs were not for the faint of heart, especially with suitcases..
- Arthur (4/5): Poor service, noisy location. - There are things I knew, the old town is noisy at night, the place is pricey.
I didn't know that in all 4 days we were in the apartment they won't clean the bathrooms even once (no room of the apartment to tell the truth, but the bathrooms you notice).
The locating is great, close to everything, but the apartment in on top of a lively pizzeria, they start working early and close late, if you are a light sleeper, refrain from renting this property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This apartment is spacious and beautiful, and ideally located in Old Town. The roof deck is a particular bonus and has amazing views of the town and port. Check in was a little difficult as we weren't given the code to the apartment (just the building) so I had to call while on international roaming.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Central but noisy .
Transfer didn’t turn up .
Was told they would keep suitcases after check out in an e mail but wouldn’t when we got there .
- Mega (8/5): - Excellent location and communication from the appartment providers!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The apartment was cosy and gave me the complete feel for being in an old town but with all the modern amenities. I strongly recommend these apartments for the complete package. Loved it
- Frans (8/5): Best location in old town Dubrovnik - Best location in old town Dubrovnik! The apartment is situated in the main Centre so everything is close by. We stayed in the apartment with rooftop terrace. The apartment itself is beautiful and the patio amazing with wonderful views. The one thing to note is that there is no oven, no power kettle (only one for stove plates); and the there is only 2 old type stove plates which takes forever to get really warm and also to cool down. Extremely difficult to make food with if you used to gas or similar quick types. That makes the kitchen less self catering and we were so hoping to make something for Christmas. Also make sure you spend extra time ensuring the agree to your arrival time and exact location - We thought we did and still waited 25 minutes for the host after the agreed time. Otherwise good and recommended.
- T.Rosa (10/5): - Location,property,host, absolutely everything was PERFECT.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The apartment we had (by Mea Culpa pizzeria) is in the middle of everything. Positive in terms of location, negative in terms of outside noise. Great balcony. 1.5 baths which was great. Big room was comfortable, but lots if outside noise. Smaller room window did not really keep outside air out. Luckily there was another blanket. Staff was great- fantastic even until the very last moment. We had made arrangements to leave our bags at the office until the airport transfer they had arranged for us picked us up. No one was at the office to let us in to get our bags. Luckily we ran into who might have been the cleaning lady (spoke no English, very friendly) and she allowed us to get into the office to get our bags to leave for the airport.
- Hiroshi (10/5): Comfortable luxury in Dubrovnik old town - The location is great and only a couple of stairs...although as with I suspect all accommodation within the old town, there is no lift within and you have to carry your luggage upstairs. The room was spacious ..probably too big for only two of us who spent nearly all the time outside. The reception is helpful and accommodating. Just a general advice about staying within old towns in general. The rubbish pick up and deliverys are carried out in the early mornings before the horde of tourists. Also, there are many restaurants and smell of fish is unavoidable. These are minor irritation to staying within Dubrovnik old town. As with all things in Dubrovnik it is more pricey than equivalent standard accommodation in the rest of Croatia but you're paying for location, location, location. Against this background, if you want to stay within Dubrovnik old town I would recommend this hotel.
- Vassil (10/5): - Excellent apartment in the old town. Close to restaurants. Unique atmosphere
- Beth (10/5): - Our room was very central in Old Town, Dubrovnik. An easy walk anywhere, if you don’t mind a few stairs! The staff at Irundo office were very professional and most helpful.
- Tarick (10/5): - great terrace an location
- Heather (10/5): Lovely Irundo - I had an amazing stay at my Irundo apartment! It was in a perfect location, was very clean and comfortable. The water pressure and shower were amazing! The check in was seamless and they were available to answer any questions that I had. I had an early flight home and they arranged a taxi for me which I appreciated!
- Kelly (6/5): Noisy but central - The Apartments were very difficult to find, you cannot get there by Taxi so you will need to push your bags through town and could travel a reasonable distance. The ladies in the office were very helpful. The apartment was nice, but the TV had no english speaking channels, and the apartment above had a wooden floor so we were kept awake for most of the night you could hear everything. The apartment is centrally located so close to shops and restaurants.
- JC (8/5): - The apartment was nice, homely and well taken care of. It is very convenient if one wants to stay in the middle off the old town.
- Gunner (10/5): Great location close to cathedral - From booking the apartment to the end of the holiday, the communication with the Irundo staff was excellent and the apartment great.
The Irundo staff were proactive, responsive, polite and all spoke very good English both in email and in their Reception office.
The apartment is in a great location, just a minutes walk from the old port, the cathedral and Stradun.
With three levels including the roof terrace, there are a number of stairs to negotiate in the apartment, but there is plenty of room for four adults (two sleeping on sofa bed).
The apartment is in excellent condition with everything you could need (including aircon for the hot weather)
- Damien (10/5): Everything as advertised in DD4 - I stayed in DD4 and it was fantastic. The large rooftop patio has a great view of the old town and is a nice play to spend your down time.
Everything as advertised.
As per other reviews, note that it is quite a climb up the stairs. This is mainly a hassle when taking your luggage up or stumbling home after a few too many drinks, but overall did not have too much impact on our stay.
Office location for key collection is different to the address of the apartment, be sure to clarify.
- Donald (6/5): - Didn't know the hotel was in a pedestrian only area. Had to lug my baggage along cobble stones and stairs for nearly 2/3 of a mile. Also had no parking options. Closest parking was $120 per night.
- Monia (8/5): - very well located appartment with small private terrasse.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant Stay! Welcoming Staff. - Important info to know before hand. Many stairs up to the rooms/ apt.
Liked the location in the Old City.
Staff very pleasant & helpful.
- Aaron (10/5): Our favorite stay in Europe! - We LOVED our stay in DD4! It was somewhat of a splurge but that private terrace and huge apartment (not to mention couldn't have been a better location) made it completely worth it. Very helpful staff as well and so nice to have our own little kitchen to cook breakfast and little fridge to store wine for drinking on the terrace and watching the hubbub down below. Absolutely perfect.
- Alan (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay the apartment was fine, positioned in a quiet area but close to everything. Had everything you would want for a good holiday in the old town Dubrovnik. staff were friendly and helpful would be happy to stay there again
- Luka (10/5): AMAZING - Fantastic location, very very clean apartment, extremely spacious and great service when checking in
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful apartment with an incredible terrace! Probably not the easiest for those whom have difficulty climbing a really really tiny spiral staircase. The terrace was truly beautiful though.
- Suzy (8/5): Perfect location - The room was in a perfect location in the old town, it did show on Hotels.com that there was a microwave and kitchen facilities but it only had a fridge and a kettle, we ate out every day so was not a problem to us but it is wrongly advertised
- Desirae (10/5): Wonderful! - Loved it! Comfortable and convenient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming Apt. Fantastic Location. Wonderful Staff. - I had a fantastic stay at DS1! The staff was very welcoming, friendly, and wonderfully helpful - even texting me restaurants to try! Overall the experience was great. The apartment was in a quiet area and decorated beautifully, which made it a joy to come back to after venturing through Old Town. A couple things to note: the bed was pretty uncomfortable - the left half of the bed was caved in. Luckily, I didn't have to share the bed; but I would not be so quick to recommend it to couples with back sensitives until they replace the mattress. There was also a crack in the bathroom ceiling which was dropping bits of plaster all over the towels and sink area (which I made aware to management). Everything else was nearly perfect! The photos do not do the interior justice, and the views from the terrace made my stay even more enjoyable. I would absolutely book through ZigZag again!
- C (10/5): Comfortable for our family - Pictures and descriptions accurate. Very comfortable, GREAT location within the city walls. Staff very helpful. wifi connection always appreciated.
- susan (8/5): Inside the walls - Liked staying in the old town and a well appointed place. Stairs could be a problem if you have a lot of luggage and you hear some cuty noise but no cars which is nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommend - Super clean and cute!
- Maurice (10/5): located right downtown with superb view - we were pleasantly surprised to discover our accommodation with a great view of the town , nice patio and located with walking distance to everything.
- MARY (6/5): - Overall apartment was OK however there was a bad smell coming from the bathroom which was partly only partly rectified. If not for this it would have been an enjoyable stay. Zig zag staff were excellent
- MARY (10/5): - Night in deluxe double was excellent. Clean, comfortable & location was perfect. Also room was at top of building so there was less street noise. Would stay again.
- Ed (8/5): Incredibly helpful staff - I stayed in Dubrovnik in October 2017. No vehicles are allowed in the Old Town, so I arranged a transfer from the airport to Dubrovnik with the ZigZag staff and then was dropped at one of the Old Town gates. From start to finish the staff were great. The transfer was perfect, and then I was met as I entered the town and taken to the apartment with no need to stop at the ZigZag reception area. The apartment itself was comfortable, clean, and simple, however it was exactly what I needed and the location could not be beaten.
The staff were responsive to emails, and printed out my boarding passes for me and offered to bring them to the apartment. The transfer back to the airport was just as smooth as all other aspects. I can recommend this company to anyone wanting to visit Dubrovnik, and I certainly would use them again if I return.
- Stephen (10/5): Apartment in Old Town - Studio apartment with terrace overlooking the Stradum in Old Town. Easy access to everything Dubrovnik.
- Harvey (8/5): - Not bad, but as an apartment, facilities in it were not sufficient enough, like detergents etc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice apartment, nice location - The apartment itself was great, but getting a hold of the staff was a pain.
The map to the main office was wrong (super roundabout way to get there, longer and through alleys), and no one was there when we arrived. Couldn't get a hold of anyone via phone or email. Eventually someone came after ~10 minutes, but it was nerve racking waiting for them.
Also, be warned the location that is listed for the units is NOT FOR THE UNITS. Its for the main office!!!!
- Jacqueline (10/5): Lovely apartment in the old town with roof terrace - This apartment was definitely the best accommodation we booked during our visit to Croatia. It was in a really pretty part of town, just beside the town walls with a lovely roof terrace where we could eat once the heat of the day had passed and really conveniently located for the town's swimming beaches (these are only for the hardy though as you swim off rocks). It was great to be able to retreat to a beautifully clean, air conditioned apartment during the heat of the day, but to be never more than a few minutes from any of the main sites. Although it is in the heart of the old town, and very close to a cafe, we never had any trouble with noise either.
- geoff (8/5): Nice apartment in old town - Good hotel great position but very difficult to get to if you have a car.
- Tom (8/5): good value in Dubrovnik - Zig-Zag booked us a studio apartment overlooking the cathedral square. Everything went smoothly and the location was great.
- MICHAEL (10/5): - Amazing top floor apartment located in the heart of Dubrovnik just off the Main Street.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful room with a large terrace - Beautiful comfortable room with a large terrace overlooking Old Town Dubrovnik. We will certainly be back. It's a 4th floor walk up like many places in Old Town but well worth it.
- Shankar (8/5): Great Place to Stay! - Close to Stradun, centre of Old Town, convenient, easily walkable with luggage from Ploce Gate than Pile Gate- the hotel should mention this in their portal. No service for the three nights we stayed; would have loved change of towels or else should have provided towels and bath soap and shampoo for three days stay and not left to budget on just 2 tubes for 2 persons for 5 baths!
- Melinda (10/5): Great Apartment - Apt. DD4 - 5 nights in March. Apt is very nice and worth the off-season price we paid. Terrace is fantastic - was pretty chilly while we were, but we made sure to have breakfast out there most mornings (in our coats). The bed fine (extra blankets provided) Kitchen and bathroom fine. Zig Zag did not leave enough toilet paper or shampoo & shower gel, but brought more when we asked (no lotion or conditioner provided but DM store is right outside Pile Gate if you don’t bring your own). Had issue w/door lock battery dying but they sent someone to fix. so we ended up asking for more since they had to come over during our stay anyway – the battery in the door lock ran out and it stopped working properly. Lots of stairs to get to apt. (on the top floor) – be aware if you have mobility issues (but Dubrovnik is all stairs so be aware of that too.) Location right off Stradun is great. Only major issue: make sure you get the address of the ACTUAL apartment from Zig Zag if you book with Hotels.com. We had the reception address (this is the one on Hotels.com) and no one was there when we got there b/c they were waiting at the apartment and no one gave us that address. Multiple phone calls (after half hour of wandering with our luggage) to get it straightened out – they assumed Hotels.com gave us the actual apartment address, which they hadn’t. Not sure if the problem is with Zig Zag or Hotels, but they need to fix the communication issue.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Location - Such a great location for a two day stay. The old city is wonderful and the hotel is at the quiet end but close to all the nice restaurants.
- daniel (10/5): Great location and balcony! - The apartment DD4 was on the top floor of a building just off the main street. It had an AWESOME balcony / terrace that was perfect for hanging out at sunset. The room was big, with a full kitchen. Location was perfect, right next to restaurants and wine bars. Definitely coming back!
- daniel (10/5): Great space, great balcony, great location! - Zig Zag was great. I was in the DD4 apartment, which offered a top-floor, terrace view of the Old Town of Dubrovnik. A perfect location (assuming you're fit enough to climb 4 flights of stairs!). Full kitchen, big bathroom, huge balcony, big bed, fast WIFI. Great location near wine bars and restaurants too. I'm definitely staying there next time!
- Amanda (8/5): Great location - Great place, although shower only hot for about 5 minutes...
