Guest Reviews
- Reed (7/5): Fulfilled our needs - Breakfast ok..we both specifically requested not to have something and we both got it! Also breakfasts were a little early for a sunday Outside area was a bit messy
- Michelle (5/5): -
- Alan (3/5): Unsatisfactory. - General atmosphere of a place in decline. No evening food available.
- John (7/5): An average hotel which could do with a little more care and attention. - The location was great and easy to find. The receptionist/manager? was a very friendly and courteous man. When I enquired about the car park I was told that it is better to park in the road, as it is very quiet in the car park!
- Vladislav (5/5): Misleading advertising of the facilities. To much of a saving exercise on the expense of a guest. - Breakfast was OK There is no parking. It was advertised as place with parking. Parking is on the street with parking restriction signs. As I was told by the host he has never seen a traffic warden for 11 years, so I can disregard parking restrictions signs.
Also they don't switch on heating at night. Even when it is +2 C outside. So the inside temperature was equal outside.
- Anna (8/5): Comfortable stay here. Good location. - Room was clean & comfortable.
Bathroom had plenty of hot water. Nothing
- Jacques (6/5): -
- Jacqueline (5/5): - Room was clean and location No body on site overnight fire escape to car park was locked breakfast poor
1 hour time slot on a Sunday morning is a joke 7.30 to 8.30
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Elaine (7/5): - Breakfast was fine. Lighting in corridors and stairs sometimes was not on. No one around.
- TIM (8/5): A pleasant place to stay full of character. - Well cooked and great taste

- Kenneth (8/5): Owner accommodating as booked the room late, (Drive cut off 2100!) - Breakfast: Just what I needed to start the day.
Room: Comfortable but warm, staff warned us this would be the case.
Location: Easy find.

- Malcolm (9/5): We had an enjoyable stay. The hotel is in a perfect location and the staff are extremely friendly. - Breakfast was excellent. I have Coeliac Disease and require Gluten Free meals. The hotel supplied a tasty Gluten free full English breakfast (minus the sausages, which contain Gluten) plus Gluten free toast. I was comforted by the staff's knowledge of the condition. Although the write up on Booking.com mentioned Gluten free meals, the proprietor informed me that they had no chef and so could not provide evening meals. He supplied me with a list of nearby restaurants, allowing me to book a suitable evening meal at one of them. We checked in just after 4 pm and although the heating in our room was on, the room was still very cold. I suspect that it had just been switched on not long before we arrived, as it was warm about an hour later when we returned to the room. I can understand that it is unneccesary to keep heating on in unused rooms, however I would have preferred it being turned on a little earlier before our arrival.
- Karen (7/5): Good location.overpriced.would not stay again. - The location was great.owner was friendly and helpful. The bed was very lumpy.the breakfast was very unappetizing on arrival only ate a bit.I was the only customer that evening.
- john (8/5): We had to stop for our journey up to Kemnay and had booked this hotel in Jedburgh. - Although it was very quiet, the owner was good company at the bar.
It was situated in the centre of town.
We didn't have to walk far for our evening meal. Nothing we disliked about this hotel.
- Janette (7/5): It was a bit cold - Central Nothing
- Pam (2/5): Poor - The breakfast was good. On arrival bizarrely the young man who checked us in was sitting behind a closed window and we had to literally shout through this window at him. He seemed very harassed. On getting in to our room we found it completely unheated. It was a very cold night. We did what we could to "turn on" the radiators and waited for 20 minutes or so to see if they showed signs of heating up. When they didn't we left to try and find a warm bar or somewhere to eat and defrost. Afterwards we returned to the room and the radiators were still stone cold. There were no staff that we could find for help so we picked up our cases and left. We checked in to another hotel where our room was blissfully warm đ. We returned to the hotel the next morning to have breakfast which was perfectly acceptable.

- Donna (10/5): -
- John (10/5): - Very friendly hotel owner, made breakfast for us at 7am so we could continue the St Cuthbert Way. Nothing
- david (6/5): - Loved the area. Easy parking. Great staff once u found him. Clean. Shower was great. Bed was very comfortable Booking said onside EV charger, was one up the street. No check in before 4pm. Staff were late opening up. Hotel has moved a little over the years, room had a serious drop. But quaint
- Patrick (10/5): Love the hotel and experience - Very clean with friendly staff who couldnât do enough to make our stay one to enjoy âŠ.thanks Nothing all very good
- Stuart (9/5): - Both were good Punctuality.
- BHMG (9/5): Perfect hotel op onze doorreis! - De eigenaar is welbespraakt, servicegericht en heeft fantastisch gevoel voor humor. Heerlijk verzorgd ontbijt! TOP! X
- Rosa (6/5): - The staff were friendly, and the breakfast and hot drinks were plentiful. The WiFi in our room was poor, the furnishings needed a bit of a refresh, and the room felt cold and a little damp.
- Andrii Burlakov (7/5): -
- Hamilton (5/5): Convenient - Location for our St Cuthbertâs walk Ageing, needing refurbished
- SAMANTHA (8/5): -
- Seang Kam (8/5): - Good location. No complaints about the staff or facilities, Just have to accept the very creaky floor boards Creaky floor boards
- Anoeska (7/5): -
- Ann-marie (4/5): - The hosts were so lovely and helpful. Breakfast was nice. The location was central to most historical sights. We booked 2 rooms and a friend booked another. One room was fine and beds were comfortable although bathroom could've had more attention on the cleaning side. Another room was the same as this. Another room smelled of urine which must have been in the carpet or into the floor boards as even after having toilet cleaned the smell was still there after the cleaning smell subsided, one of the single beds was like sleeping on a plank of wood & it wasn't just a firm mattress, it felt weird while the other one was fine but very creaky, the valence sheets were marked also ( I think these should be a no no in a hotel anyway). A big complaint is you don't get a choice on whether you want your heating on or off, the owners put the heating totally off after a couple of hours and if you want it on you need to go find them to ask to put it on which isn't good if your cold during the night! When we asked to get it put on We were told because of the good weather people don't like it warm but it was cold and raining outside so it should have been on. Heating should be on at all times anyway! It's the customers choice if they want a hot or cold room at any time of the day or night, we pay for it!! The toilets in the bar were disgusting. The whole hotel is in need of renovation and decoration, our floor in the room was in a slope and it felt like you could go through the floor at any minute, all over the hotel is the same except for ground floor. It's a shame as the hosts were so lovely but the hotel really lets it down and neither of us would ever stay again I'm afraid.
- James (10/5): Lovely friendly hotel - We had a lovely stay here our room was clean and our bathroom was lovely, the hotel was clean and the beer garden was great , our hosts were very nice and friendly and the welcome we received was genuine , we felt at home almost immediately, nice cooked breakfast in the morning, I would highly recommend staying here Nothing, all was great
- Antony (8/5): -
- Fiona (7/5): Strange place. - Breakfast. Best poached egg ever, freshly cooked. Fresh toast. Not able to get in till 4. Very odd decor in room, seen better days. As for the "car park" round the back ,through a junk yard, no signage. Entrance through the grim bar.
- caroline (5/5): Would not stay again - It was empty It needs refurbishing, the shower needed regrouping, the floor boards creaked a lot, light bulb blue as soon as we turned it on.
- Janet (8/5): A quirky property, well located in the town, a pleasant stay. - The location was very convenient. The room was pleasant and clean. A single hour window for breakfast which resulted in all the guests arriving in the dining room at the same time.
- Graeme T (7/5): -
- Gordon (8/5): Happy to stay again and good VFM - Breakfast was a bit chaotic, but very tasty and served with a smile
- Sam (5/5): Ok - It was in Jedburgh My room stank of smoke
- Fred (7/5): Adequate - Comfortable room
Good breakfast No dining facilities in the evening
Not easy to find or access the parking (we were on a motorbike)

- Susan (10/5): Very enjoyable stay, highly recommend - Very quiet for being in the centre of town, lovely spacious room N/a
- michael (6/5): Jed - Clean , comfortable bed and good location Weren't told about the fiddly key to the main door.
Having to fill in a question from before given the key.
Didn't have the breakfast as time was too early and not flexible for people who like a wee lie in
- kevin (10/5): -
- Joanne (10/5): - We were travelling from Dorset for a family wedding, we unfortunately broke down an hour from hotel and were unable to make last check in time, Abdul allowed our brother whom he knew to collect our key to give to us as we didn't get to hotel til 3.15 am, lovely breakfast was served each morning, clean towels put in room every day, location was close to our brother and the Abbey where they were getting married, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again. There was nothing, we enjoyed it.
- Paul (8/5): Really enjoyed it - Location was great friendly staff and clean room. Owner was very helpful. Squeaky floors so could hear everything and too many stairs to the family room with lots of bags, 9 year old and 1 year old. Also was difficult not being allowed to check in till 4 would have been better an earlier check in
- Karen (7/5): -
- Magdalena (8/5): - Very clean, nice, cosy hotel in the middle of Jedburgh. The staff is very polite and helpful. English breakfast đ yummy and great coffee. The jacuzzi shower jets were mouldy and should be properly cleaned.
- Nathan (8/5): - No toilet paper or brush
- Rodney (10/5): - Lovely old hotel, wonderful owners.
- Mike (7/5): -
- martin (7/5): - Es war alles prima, aber nichts herausragend kein warmes wasser in der Dusche
- Stuart (8/5): -
- John (7/5): Jedburgh, not a place I will visit again - It was ok LocationïżŒLocation
- Andrea (5/5): A Ă©viter, mais beau village - TĂȘte de lit cassĂ©, moisissure sur le pommeau de douche.
- Lysandra (8/5): - Lokatie en kamer Het inchecken!
- Umberto (7/5): - Camera spaziosa, bagno comodo, colazione buona
- Robin (6/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Friendly, clean, welcoming, ideal for what we needed, thanks again - Lovely welcome, loads of original features. Clean even though itâs a little dated. Great location, no issues with parking, breakfast was great! Full cooked with a poached egg and ample toast. All minor issues which did not impact on our stay. As mentioned, is a little dated, deco just a little dated. Plug far from mirror which made hairstyles a bit of a challenge. Cooked breakfast might have stayed hotter on a warm plate, again must stress these are minor issues.
- Danielle (7/5): -
- Weiliang (9/5): -
- Margaret (6/5): -
- Richard (7/5): Good - Nice central location, off-street parking (public, not secured) behind the hotel. Fine old town with its Abbey and (free to the public) pleasant and secluded Mary Queen of Scots garden. Slightly difficult to get in to the building at first until I found the second door via the next-door pub which is part of it. Something of a climb to get to the room - no lift.

- Benoßt (1/5): - Je suis arrivé trop tard pour le check in, mais j'avais prévenu à l'avance.
La moindre des choses aurait été d'annuler ma réservation et me la rembourser.
- J (9/5): - Lots of room and a helpful host!
- Charlotte (7/5): Great location - Lovely service from female on reception and upgraded my room on arrival. Room was clean and a very nice renovated bathroom :) Great location 2 minute walk to the Abbey A bit dated and needed a freshen up
- Doreen (10/5): - Altes aber mit Liebe gefĂŒhrtes Hotel
- Colin (7/5): -
- Dana (8/5): - Lovely owners who make you feel so welcomed A bit tired but had good character
- Vivienne (9/5): - Handy for the centre of Jedburgh. Interesting, historical building. Limited parking - if we had gone a weekday we might have had problems. P
- Lisa (7/5): -
- Simon (8/5): Clean, comfortable and great location. - Friendly staff, good location, good coffee and nice breakfast Nothing I didnât like. Building is very old and is in need of some work. However you can see that this work would cost a fortune due to age of property and it being listed, so owners doing what they can on a budget. Price of stay reflects this so it is still value for money
- Amanda (3/5): - Owner/ manager was pleasant and friendly Room was very dirty. Srains on the wall behind the waste bin where people had missed the bin throwing teabags in. Dirty paintwork and filthy skirting boards Bathroom had mould around the bath and dead flies on the window sill. No blind or curtain in bathroom. No hot water for a shower Saturday morning at 9am. Breakfast only served between 7.30 and 8.30am on a weekend . Stain on towel on first day. Towels replaced and bed made by cleaner but dead flies in bathroom just left there. Loft hatch ladder on our landing left hanging down all day and night. Dated decor and fixtures. A .shame because the owner/ manager is a lovely bloke
