Guest Reviews
- Martha (10/5): We were impressed with the suite and if we ever come back to Ames, we will definitely stay there. - Breakfast was great, the person in charge of the breakfast was very friendly and very clean,
- Kyle (9/5): -
- Penny (10/5): A pleasant place to visit and is the hot tub - Clean and friendly staff and the hot tub Nothing
- Penny (9/5): Once again enjoyed my stay - Relaxed friendly hot tub
- Penny (10/5): As always I enjoyed my stay and the hot tub hope to see you again someday soon (and the hot tub a little warmer ?) - Clean and the staff always warm and welcoming - I stayed here a month about three years ago when I lost home to the downtown Boone national bldg fire (I was below the apt with fire ) and have came back few times since to use the hot tub and recently visited my friends from out of state …we enjoyed the hot tub ! Only thing it wasn’t as warm as it usually is ? A little disappointed with the temp of hot tub but other than that as always enjoyed my stay thank you Wasn’t anything I didn’t like
- Ann (10/5): Would stay there again - Very clean and staff very friendly Nothing!
- Kimberly (6/5): It was ok for the price but going to try someplace else next time - The room was large I just felt it was kind of ghetto
- Laura (9/5): -
- Anne (9/5): - Staff were friendly. Treadmill not balanced. Wish breakfast lasted a little later. Fresh water availability would be nice.
- Jody (8/5): - Our 2 brm suite seemed a bit bare - could use some more pictures/decorations on the walls. May seem petty, but it makes a big difference, to me at least.
- Meadows (9/5): comfortable and great staff - Good Hotel . cost was good as well
- Khan (9/5): It was wonderful - The kitchen Breakfast
- Jackie (10/5): - Room was clean staff was friendly.
- peter (10/5): - .

- Christine (7/5): -
- Brian (10/5): - We enjoyed staying here which was conveniently located near the highway (but far enough so you don't hear the noise), restaurants, and the town. The rooms were nice and clean which included a full fridge, microwave, small stove, dishwasher, coffee pot and kitchen supplies. The bed was firm, and pillows were great (at least to us). There was plenty of room to spread out to put your clothes / things in closet. Only thing that they didn't have is a room safe which would've been nice to have. Breakfast was wonderful with the selection of different items from eggs / omelets / hard boiled eggs, sausage / bacon, pancakes / French toast or make it yourself waffles. Every day had different options. They also had the usual like oatmeal, cereal, assorted yogurts / breads / pastries / muffins, fresh fruits, juices / milk, coffee / tea. It was nice to have the microwave and toaster in the room so that I could reheat or toast my bread. We enjoyed using the indoor jacuzzi and the fitness center. Overall, this hotel is nice, and we wouldn't mind staying here again in the near future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our stay at the Towne Place suites was great. The rooms have been updated, there was some wear and tear around the bottom of the furniture but I am sure that is just from customers and cleaning. We stayed in a two bedroom and found it very spacious. We will consider it again next time we are in town visiting my college kid.
- morgan (10/5): - They had a grill to use and all the grill tools you needed, even the spices. Also had slow cooker and rice makers to borrow.
- donna (10/5): - I liked the size of the refrigerator. The maid service was polite and friendly.
- Frances (10/5): We were only here for 3 nights but it is a great choice for a longer stay. - Very clean and modern. Good storage, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Many choices at breakfast. We had some trouble with the air conditioning. It would always revert to a temperature that was too cold for us.
- Nancy (10/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay
- Jose (10/5): - Amazing an new place ….. clean and convenient
- Amanda (10/5): - Great staff and beautiful property. Very clean! We even got an upgrade when we checked in and the room was well above expected! Great breakfast options and nice amenities. Definitely will stay here again!

- Nikhil (10/5): - Great amenities and breakfast
- Thomas (10/5): - Nice stay
- Jennifer (10/5): - Quiet for being right next to the highway. Minimum shopping. A couple of restaurants close bu
- Ric (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were very friendly and were able to correct a mistake made by BOOKING.COM and changed the hearing accessible room to the handicap accessible room I selected. The staff awesome, Booking.com, ya dropped the ball and I'll avoid you in the future.. I'll stay at this hotel again in a couple months, booked direct
- Stephen (10/5): - The hotel was very clean and modern. The room had a full kitchen, which we weren't expecting. The staff was professional and those with less experience were being supervised and trained. The breakfast was OK... I've had better and I've had worse, but no complaints. The coffee was very good. The special request I made at the time of reservation, for two extra pillows, was not executed but, in the end, I didn't mind. I would stay here again.
- Faith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bobbi (8/5): - It was very easy to reach this property, right off of the highway. It met all of our needs for a weekend visit to our son at Iowa State.
- stacey (6/5): - Was not the cleanest hotel we have stayed at but it was quiet
- Kathleen (8/5): - The stay was nice. Room is great for a long stay. My window leaked when it rained and when I checked it out it wasn't even locked. Kind of strange, guess I should have checked it sooner.
Very clean, very comfortable. Breakfast was always good, basic hotel style. Not many guests when I was there so it was quiet!
- Alycia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beth (10/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful. Great location for our needs in Ames. Modern and spacious facility with great amenities. Breakfast area was clean with nice options.
- Tracy (10/5): - Our family stayed here over the Easter holiday. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The room was clean and had plenty of room for us to hang out and visit. I would definitely recommend and stay here again!
- Mary Joan (10/5): - Very nice property. Easy check-in. Great location.
- KRISTEN (10/5): - Well done king suite. Had everything we needed. Only one little thing I would recommend is to do something with with heat system. It was a little uneven. Otherwise, a very good stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel was clean and near everything in Ames.
- Caroline (10/5): - Very clean and quiet!
- Swanson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Great hotel - Great hotel everything went perfectly.
- Christopher (8/5): - Breakfast was not as good as what we get in other hotels. The hockey puck eggs were not good and we saw something that might have been sausage, but didn’t try it. Could have just been a bad day for someone.
The elevator didn’t work (and had a sign), but it would travel to the floor, preventing the working elevator from coming up. That was frustrating.
The place wasn’t full, but they put us next to an occupied room. So instead of a really quiet night, we got to enjoy someone else coming and going all the time.
Loved the fact that there was a tub.
Not a bad experience, but it could have been better.
- Matthew (10/5): - It was what we were looking for. Nice, clean, had workout area and breakfast. It was a perfect fit for out stay.
- Lynoshka (10/5): - Perfect
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Happy (10/5): Wonderful place to stay while in Ames - will definitely stay here again - The young lady who checked us in was extremely helpful, wish I could remember her name. She made sure we were accommodated away from elevators and lobbies, Our room faced a lovely dam. The room had a dishwasher, microwave, toaster and fridge and all utensils needed to make a meal in the room. Our bed was extremely comfortable and we liked the way the bed linen is used, a sheet, with duvet inbetween and another sheet, we could regulate our temperature easily. Our two main boxes for any accommodation was ticked over and beyond, good bed and quiet room. Nothing comes to mind
- Steve (9/5): I would defined recommend the property if you are looking for a place to stay while in Ames. - We stay at this property all fall while attending football games. It is clean, comfortable and the staff is excellent! There is a good variety of breakfast items to choose from.
- Jo (10/5): - .
- Warren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (10/5): I will now stay at a Marriott - The 2 rooms and 2bathrooms plus the kitchen No thing it was all good
- Jessica (10/5): - Beautiful hotel Newley renovated just location is not convenient to downtown shopping restaurants have to drive 1.5 miles
- Jeanette (6/5): - We loved the property with the exception of the overwhelmingly bad odor associated with pets being in the room previously. Unfortunately, despite the room being nice and meeting our needs for space, the pet smell was unbearable and we are not able to consider returning to the property.
- Zenia (9/5): Superb - Staff were pleasant. Had a 2BR suite for our family. Quiet & clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Enjoyed the hot spa. Good breakfast.
- Tim (10/5): - Stayed for 5 nights great location , very quiet , super nice staff. Will stay again
- Ashley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Great stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ames, Iowa - We stopped on our way heading south. It was a nice room. Had plenty of space to spread after a long day in the car. Did not use any of the facilities, but they were available. My only suggestion would be to have a better coffee selection for you. Their coffee kinda sucks. I like cleanliness and this place passes my test. I would stay here again.
- Beth (10/5): The muffins were delicious!!! - Very clean!!! Staff was very hospitable!! Will stay again.
- Beka (8/5): Very good -
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Theresa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Travis (10/5): - Everything was good. Like the breakfast. Staff was very friendly.
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kayla A (10/5): - They were in the process of renovating parts of the hotel which was a little loud at times but overall it was a good experience.
- Pamela (8/5): Very good - Front desk should be knowledgeable of all rooms. Front desk told me we had a couch in our room and we did not very disappointed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice staff & Clean - Nice, clean hotel, very friendly & welcoming staff. Beds weren't overly comfortable. Would've been nice to know that it was under construction, I believe that should be disclosed when booking. I think it was a high demand weekend & prices were high.
- Emily (10/5): Friendly staff and beautiful rooms and tasty breakfast! - Beautifully redone! Nothing!
- Lyndel (8/5): Just fine, comfy bed, pet friendly, nothing distinctive but just fine for an overnight on our drive - Breakfast was fine. There is nothing particularly distinctive, but it was just fine for what we needed for an overnight on our way home from Christmas with family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay with a large family! The staff was fantastic and extremely kind to us! They made sure we had everything we needed!
- Karina (10/5): Very nice pet friendly hotel! - Room was clean, spacious, and very well maintained. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Breakfast was really good, hot options, including fruits and yogurt . Nothing to complain about.
- Doug (9/5): Pleasant - Breakfast was very good. Good omelet and sausage. The heater fan in our room squealed every time the heater shut off. Very annoying. It did that all night long.
- Tina (8/5): - Hotel was in very good condition. We were in town for the Boone Supernationals, which run late into the night, and we would not normally leave for the day until 1pm. Only complaint was that we did not get houskeeping services for the entire 6 days we were there. The one day I asked if we could get clean sheets and towels, housekeeping was gone, so I said to make sure they came the next day, and they did not. That's my only complaint. Otherwisse, good overall experience.
- Melissa (10/5): - Newer hotel. Very clean. Beds are super firm though, which is not my preference.
- Vu Uyen Phuong (8/5): - All excellent except the deposit’s release process - till now, 5 business days passed but I do not receive the deposit return of 120$. Pls help me to solve this issue ASAP
- Garry (10/5): - The hotel itself and the hotel staff were excellent!
- Chris (9/5): Great room and location! - The location was perfect and the staff were really nice. The property was well maintained and breakfast was good. The only downside was the bed was a little hard on my back and the AC started to leak a little on the carpet. It was close to the check out day so I didn't need to switch rooms. I did tell the front desk when we checked out.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne Marie (4/5): - Stayed in room 201. Got bedbugs-they got an exterminator who also validated the bedbugs, and I was able to change rooms- no other compensation offered. Tried to leave a day early and they would not refund my money for the night I wasn’t staying.
- Janci (10/5): - Our family with young kids loves staying at Towneplace suites! Private bedrooms & bathrooms in 2-BR suite, fully stocked kitchen, great pool and hot tub, free hot breakfast, and wonderful staff. Thank you!
- Laurie (10/5): - I didn't like how loud the heat/ac units are in the bedrooms when it turned on. If you are sensitive to noise while sleeping you must where ear plugs. I have seen a SpringHill Suites in Tennessee provide earplugs for guests on bedside tables. I would suggest the same to Ames TownePlace Suites. Other than the noise from the wall unit in the bedroom, I thought the hotel was very comfortable. I would stay again.
- Natalie (10/5): Read all the above. - Entire staff and management personnel were EXCELLENT, EXCEPTIONAL and made our trip and stay WONDERFUL.. I would definitely stay at this hotel property again with family and friends. We rented a small banquet room for our graduation celebration dinner and the room was set up, clean, roomy and comfortable. This hotel, management and staff met our needs. Throughout the hotel property it was clean, sanitized and we felt very, very safe and comfortable. We loved our hotel, its accommodations, our rooms and the entire staff that took great care of our rooms and us.
- Diann (10/5): - Great Place
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lissa (10/5): Superb! - Clean, welcoming, great breakfast, friendly staff!
- George (10/5): - Na
- Pat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Great Front Desk and Property - Great location near ISU campus, newer property so everything is new and fresh. They had a problem with the room I reserved but moved us into another room - no issues and great customer service.
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robyn (10/5): - Our stay was very nice. Clean accommodations and great staff.
- Noah (10/5): I would go back to this hotel if I was staying in ames again! - It was very clean. The pool and hot tube was fun to use. The staff was extremely friendly and were easy to work with. Would very suggest this hotel Nothing was wrong with this hotel
- Sarah (3/5): Poor -
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poor service - No one at front desk. Had to wait. Room was not ready on time.
