Guest Reviews
- Catlin (10/5): -
- Jess (6/5): - I checked in pretty late. The room was OK, I didn't get much sleep because AC was very loud.
- David (10/5): - Nice staff and clean. All we needee for one night
- Leung (10/5): Mailed me back my glasses. - I had left my prescription glasses when I checked out. I called & offered them $20 to mail them back to me. I just got them back today! Excellent.
- Malei (10/5): - very good service
- Charles (8/5): Very good value - Good placed to stay in Taft... a very good value It would be better to have shower bars
- Randy (3/5): Everything fine, until my room stunk like sewer gas the 2nd nights stay due to guests in room above - Room was OK, clean, dust free, bed was comfortable. Air conditioner was a little bit noisy, but adequate. I was in room 115 downstairs when on the 2nd night of my stay, the room above me was rented out. The people upstairs showed up around 11 pm, waking me up walking around. They then proceeded to use the toilet, taking a #2, and then took a 25 minute shower. About 1/2 way through the shower, my room had developed the smell of sewer gas. I thought it strange but went back to sleep. Around 4 AM, the people upstairs, again used the toilet and then took another shower, and again my room smelled of sewer gas. I got up to use the bathroom myself and while in the bathroom, I noticed that fecal matter, water and dissolved toilet paper, along with a puddle of effluent sewer water had backed up in the shower pan in my bathroom. This was the cause of the terrible smell in my room. I have notified the manager that the sewer line needs to be snaked out and cleared, they have a clogged up sewer line. They said they tested it and couldn't duplicate the problem I experienced. I wish I would have taken my smartphone and taken pictures of the situation at 4 am in the morning to prove to them what happened. No refund or future credit was offered. I feel this is a health hazard, who wants to step into the shower half awake in the morning into a shower that has someone elses poop and pee dried on the surface? It's a health hazard and how Covid would be easily spread, since Covid is evacuated from your body via your elimination of feces.
- David (8/5): - Looks recently refreshed on the exterior, very nice. Interior was re done perhaps a few years ago. They did a great job on the shower!
Slept well but the pillows were too thin & only two of them for a king bed.
- Lesley (10/5): - Attentivevstaff in a very dated hotel
- Christopher (8/5): - Friendly staff and convenient.
- Robert (8/5): - It's close to myself sister's house.. Just a couples of block away. Friendly service and helpful... accomodating.
Bad = oily 1 coffee packet. There should alway be at least two (2) packets. I we don't drink both.. that's good for you... If we to drink 2 cups of coffee..then that's good for us.
We certainly paided enough for the room for less than a 24 hour stay. You can certainly afford to offer us 2 cups of coffee... Just saying...
- Darrell (6/5): Pleasant -
- Geoff (9/5): Great place to stay - Nice, quiet room. Clean facility. Great water pressure. No issues
- Melani (5/5): You get what you pay for. - No breakfast The air/heater was too loud. It woke me up a few times.
- Carroll (5/5): Passable -
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alvarado (9/5): Superb -
- Dennis (7/5): Good -
- Lacy (8/5): - The owner is very friendly. He was also very accommodating. My only concern is I don’t believe their maid mops the floor of the room. But over all I had a good experience. Will stay again.
- Alma (10/5): Exceptional - It was clean
- Dennis (9/5): Superb -
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Weslley (8/5): Very good -
- Benjamin (4/5): Disappointing -
- Stephanie (10/5): - LOVED Western Inn & Suites and will definitely be back!! Super easy check-in, and they were accommodating despite the late hour. I had a Standard room which was clean and very comfortable, bed and pillows were super comfortable, brand new bathroom with an amazing rain-style shower. A/c highly effective too! Very loud but its so powerful you only need it on for a minute or two to cool down the room. You can adjust the settings on it too. Staff were super nice, and they even have a cute little water feature outside the office. Over all, loved the place and wish I could stay longer! Only 20 minutes from Bitter Creek Wildlife Refuge. I'll be back!
- Richard (10/5): - Freshly remodeled
- Dean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vicenta (10/5): - Very friendly
- Gregory (4/5): Decent motel for a couple nights - Hotel is not bad on the interior. Recently remodeled shower, clean towels and nice pool. Some maintenance issues I couldn’t ignore such as carpet peeling up, loose bathroom fixtures and loud AC unit.
- Melodie (10/5): - Very clean
- Lucy (6/5): - This is a basic hotel with a few nice things: room we were in had a redone bathroom with a nice shower. There are several decent restaurants nearby. The room is a decent size. Negative: Towels are minuscule in size and paper thin. They also don't supply enough. The floor of the room was filthy - our feet stuck to it. Upholstry on the chairs was dirty and worn (chair 1); ditry and torn (chair 2). Pillows on the bed were thin and lumpy.
- MARVIN (10/5): - Good place to spend the night
- Lindsay (8/5): Clean and inexpensive - I found this motel clean and adequate. It’s nothing fancy, but the room was comfortable. And the price was right. Just what I was looking for.
- Nereyda (9/5): Superb - It's a nice and affordable place with a quiet and comfortable rooms. Very clean, friendly and welcoming staff. Has plenty of parking The room looked very clean, but it had a smell like cigar smoke. We had to keep the AC on to minimize the smell. I asked and was told that there is no smoking inside rooms, but unfortunately I'm sure some people don't follow the rules.
- Amy (7/5): Clean room at a good price - This is a basic but clean hotel that has a nice pool and cable TV. It was clean and everything worked. Easy parking. Perfectly acceptable room with coffee pot and fridge. It is not a fancy place so don't expect that. Well located for a trip from the desert to the coast and inexpensive. Good restaurant nearby. The only bothersome thing was the chair in my room had a very dirty seat with burn holes. This definitely needs to be fixed. The manager seemed something bothered at check in by a same day reservation but worked it out. You might try to book a day ahead if you are going to stay here.
- Harold (8/5): - The front desk staff and cleaning staff were attentive and kind. The only drawback to this property is the road noise directly in front of the business. It seems that many of the locals believe that the louder their exhaust, the better the vehicle. Additionally, the parking lot is located directly outside the rooms. Therefore, the noises of those exiting and entering their vehicles, including the noise from the horns when locking vehicles, come directly into the rooms.
- Adrianna (1/5): Bad -
- Fernando (8/5): Very good - good all good
- Mark (9/5): Comfortable, convenient, competitively priced - Very convenient location on the main drag of town and literally next door to a local coffee shop that's pretty good. Room was good sized, ample amount of parking, staff nice, everything in room seemed to work fine, bed comfy. Nice to have mini fridge, microwave and a TV that worked. Glad I wasn't traveling with my big Pelican cases since there are only stairs to get to rooms on second floor. If I wanted to be really picky, the heater was on the loud side.
- MARVIN (8/5): - Good place was clean and safe
- Catlin (10/5): Regular spot when in town - The location is great and the place feels safe and clean. Value for money is great as well. The room smelt like strong cleaning products when we arrived. We stayed two nights and I should have asked for a do not disturb sign but alas I purposely placed a garment on the bed as a sign not to worry about the bed well our room was serviced and my garment was moved in order for the bed to be made and there was a cleaning rag left in the bathroom...
- Michael (1/5): Bad - Booked by mistake and they would not refund.
- Lance (10/5): Good place to stay - Owner was great
- rande (8/5): Not bad - Not bad good value and the restaurant next store is great
- Julio (2/5): - The refrigerator was rattling all night, the bathroom fan sounded like an airplane as well as the air conditioning
- Angelica (8/5): Make sure to book beach front not beach view for the best experience. Staff was Super helpful -
- Juan (4/5): - I was given a price at reservation and was charged $12 dlls more night at check-in
Stayed 3 nights
And I had to sign a no-tax charge notification
Management was rude
- Harold (8/5): Very good -
- Eulalia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): - Everything was as expected.
- Nhucam (8/5): Very good - Clean room, good location right on main road of town, near local eatery. The first time ever that I encountered, the owner asked for room deposite in cash $40. I was told that I would get it back when checkout. When I checked out, the owner took my room key and said, "Thank you, everything is good" and about to walk away, I had to remind the owner to return my room deposit. Don't like this slide of hand approach. Otherwise I would have highly recommend this place.
- Wayne (8/5): Very good -
- Ming (10/5): - We did a one night stop at this hotel. The front desk lady was friendly. The room was near the pool. It was quiet at night.
- Yanjun (5/5): two persons only one bag coffe - water run slow and little
- Lin (6/5): Ok place if you are on a tight budget. Clean, comfortable, but not much more. - It was clean and inexpensive. Furniture is very worn and shabby, curtain was torn. Refrigerator freezer door was missing, so things in the fridge compartment froze.
- Joanne (7/5): Good for and overnight. - A simple motel, clean and the staff was helpful and efficient. No complaints for the price.
- Ling (8/5): - Good place to stay after visiting soda lake
- Deborah (8/5): Good weekend get-away experience - The staff/Owner was helpful and knew several restaurants in the area and gave us a coupon for one unfortunately it was a Holiday so the restaurant was closed but, his other recommendation was open and very good!
After 10:30 pm it was really quiet so, I was able to sleep really well.
The parking area was very well lit up so that felt very secure. We were on the bottom floor room 109 unfortunately the room above had floor boards that squeaked and creaked really loud. Once they stopped moving for the night we didn't hear a peep which was great.
- Mack (8/5): Very good -
- Duke&sara (10/5): Exceptional - Clean , large room and perfect location. Great value
- George (6/5): - Reasonable pricing
TV was primarily a pay TV
- Ken (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jorge (8/5): - Clean rooms, bathrooms are great nice and clean.
- Jacob (5/5): Passable - Location good, room a little bit musky, seats holes and stains,
- Anne (8/5): - Everything good. No ice in the ice machine. What?
Needed ice.
- Brian (10/5): Road trip stop - All good. Clean and comfortable.
- Fred (2/5): - The lady who checked us in was rude, very disrespectful & out of place. Will never go back nor recommend this place. It’s a dump, plus she took $40 in cash for deposit and when I asked for a receipt she insulted us for asking. I left her the $40 & I hope it solves her issues. The chairs and beds are so disgusting that you don’t even want to use them. We give this place a -10, horrible.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Good stay. Bed was a little hard for my liking pillows worn out but ok for the location
- Natasha (6/5): - The place was a great place to spend the night, but Expedia didn't pass along the reservation so I had to inform the person at the desk about my reservation details.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The lady who checked us in was not very kind. The television did not work and I requested a smoke free room and the room smelled intensely of cigarettes. Also the light in the bathroom flickered which my children where not a fan of.
- Andrea (10/5): In the swim! - We had been on the road for the better part of 18 days and this was our last stop before heading home. The most wonderful thing was the pool! Other hotels had pools, and this one was small by comparison, BUT this one had an ADA lift! I was totally impressed.
- Kourtney (10/5): Very comfortable - Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not terrible - The air conditioner was off, and had been for some time before we arrived. We checked in a little after midnight in the middle of summer and the room was stifling hot. It took over an hour to cool down enough to sleep. It was fine overall--bathroom had been recently remodeled and it was clean. Bed was a little hard but did the job for one night.
- Donald (8/5): A little out dated - The room was adequate but definitely out there then I could use a facelift.
- Catalina (6/5): Loud neighbor - The person or persons in the room next to us had the volume on blast all night through the morning!! We tried to ignore it and tried to get some rest as we had a busy day the next morning. This is not the fault of the hotel just some selfish person.
- william (10/5): a little off the beaten path. - business trip to taft california. hotel is comfortable. if you stay in taft, stay at the western inn.
- Brian (10/5): ross country road trip - It was very nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): - clean rooms, friendly staff, reasonable prices, close to a lot of mixed food.
- Suzy (8/5): - Quiet, good location, would ask for a 1st floor room as there is no elevator.
- john (8/5): Small parking lot - The room was good, the location was right where I needed, the biggest downside to this place is the parking, there’s only a small amount of parking and the spaces are very tiny
- Bill (8/5): Nice place - Decent place to rest your head, stayed here a few times.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I was charged on ky credit card and at check in he demanded cash only ir no room for you he expressed and also informed me no refund on charge to my credit card that i reserved the room for to begin with.
- Carlos (8/5): - The room was clean. It did have an old musk smell but, it was an old building so as long as it was clean it was fine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked everything. I liked everything I liked everything I liked everything I liked everything
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It was nice and clean and very well-kept as far as appearances
- Verified traveler (10/5): - U like the sevice and the ubication overall i like
- Leo (8/5): - The girl at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Very clean and comfortable room
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Me and my Son have stayed here 3 times and is a safe place to stay. The rooms are clean and beds are comfy too.
- Larry (10/5): - This was a great place for an overnight or two-night stay. It was an easy walk to town, the place was clean and quiet! And at its low price point, it still had coffee in the room. The room and bathroom had been redone and everything was new!
Taft is a great little town to walk around, with some good hole in the wall restaurants.
Highly recommended!
- Jan (10/5): - The room was super clean and comfortable. It had hooks in the bathroom, coffee maker in the room, a large comfortable bed, and the staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. The price was very affordable, too. I will stay there again next time I’m in Taft.
