- Allen (4/5): The facility is modern and clean. Vehicle theft and brekie in a common occurrence at this location. seem to care or he - Clean up to date Very unsecure. Very unsafe with transients roaming parking lot. Very few cameras, targeted by criminals because the very high nightly rate attracts clientele with nice vehicles. Our truck box was broken into and many expensive items stolen. Has a reputation for theft. For $180 a night this location should have 24 hr security on the property. The locals everywhere we met claim this location has an epidemic of theft. Staff do not seem concerned. We will reconsider staying at this location until there is security on site monitoring the property.

The tv remote was a drag. Having to go through all the channels just to find something decent. Didn't have a guide option on remote to just go straight to a channel. The showers water pressure was super low. Was annoyed it took a while to just shower.

- Carrie (10/5): STAY HERE!!!! I wish all hotels were this hospitable! - We were down for my mom's memorial. Taft has definitely seen brighter days but this hotel is a bright light in a dreary town. First the staff was nothing but amazing! They allowed us to host my mom's lunch in the breakfast area after her memorial. It was raining SSSSSOOOOO hard that this was such a blessing. They were so accommodating and really made it a great place for us all to get together. The hotel is in a nice area, very clean and great parking. The price was good, breakfast was good and the rooms have super tall ceilings which gives it a larger feel. To be honest I cannot think of one thing.

- Crystal (2/5): - Title: Clean Rooms but Deeply Unsafe Experience – Very Disappointed I stayed at the Best Western in Taft, California from June 13–16 with my husband and two children. We came in from Nebraska and arrived early on the 13th. While we couldn’t check in early (which is understandable), we were still looking forward to a comfortable stay. The room itself was clean, and the beds were very comfortable. However, what happened the night of June 14 was deeply upsetting and unacceptable. After a full day at Six Flags and Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway, we came back to the hotel and got the kids settled into bed. My husband and I went outside for a quick cigarette when a police car dropped off a visibly intoxicated man right at the front entrance of the hotel. He approached us saying he had nowhere to stay, no ID, no money that worked, and asked us to rent him a room with cash. When we declined, he became aggressive, used foul language, and said he was going to “get his gun.” He started rummaging through his bag, and fearing for our kids’ safety, we ran to our room and called 911. Thankfully, he didn’t have a gun—but the threat was very real in the moment. Even more disturbing, the man was allowed to stay in the hotel lobby overnight and was still there in the morning, sleeping on the couch. When we asked the front desk about it, they told us the incident was never documented, and he shouldn’t have been allowed to stay there. The lack of response from hotel staff and their disregard f

This Best Western was built and opened since our last visit, and is by far superior to any other lodging we have experienced. The facility still has a new look and feel, and the staff with whom we dealt were all helpful and friendly. It did seem to be somewhat under-staffed. Front desk staff, for example, were occupied with other tasks at other places, and the breakfast room was out of certain items. No great deal that, since the breakfast food was horrible. And the area around the BW is, well ... Taft. Oil towns aren't often pretty, and Taft is definitely an oil town.

Parking is a little limited, but I was always able to find a spot. Staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are cleaned every night. Beds are comfortable and the towels are pretty good for the price. Especially considering similarly priced accommodation in the area, I definitely recommend this hotel.

Building has a new-construction smell/feel. Room was comfortable and clean enough, staff were nice.

The walking trail is unsafe due to drug addicts and you’re much better off staying in Bakersfield not that it’s much better. We were only there for a funeral but wanted to spend time by the pool with our grandkids and needless to say this was a Friday with 100 degree temperatures so this pool should have been spotless. The outdoor shower was shut off as well as the outdoor bathroom. All I can say is it use to be the only nice place to stay in Taft. All I can say now is there is no where nice to stay in taft
