- Scott (2/5): Awful. - Charming old building. Nothing blocking the window in bathroom. Realised in time to see some weirdo trying to film on phone across the road. (Staff denied was possible till I insisted they come to room and they put a dirty towel up.) The room was very dirty. Slept on top Of covers and luckily I carry my own pillow.

Pur stay was comfortable and the rooms were clean. Some maintainance work is being carried out but didn't affect our stay.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok value hotel if you are staying 1 night - Good price for a 1 night stay. Friendly host told us about the car park and the fact there was no breakfast which we knew. Hotel was a little run down but our room was clean enough , quite large and had a good view. Tea and coffee and toiletries provided a nice touch. The bed although clean was a little weird as it sloped backwards and had a dent in the mattress. Not too comfy to sleep in as my feet were higher than my head and if i stayed here again i ask for a new room due to the bed not being fit for purpose. I had to sleep upside down in the hope of getting to sleep. It needed replacing. I checked other reviews to see if anyone else had had the same experience. Other reviews were mixed. Would stay here again if i needed somewhere for 1 night but would hope for a better bed.

Was told by staff that the new owners due to there religion and believes they do not serve alcohol or food in the hotel. It is so run down, Used to be used for immigrants just a money maker for the owners.

- Lawrence (10/5): This place is amazing! - This hotel is amazing. I booked 4 rooms for a touring band. I was slightly worried about some of the negative reviews, but the place was great. It does need some attention, but it's an historic building - 400 years old! The stairs are crazy, like something from a funhouse! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Mario, the manager is awesome. Friendly, chatty and accommodating. There's no bar and no food, but it's in the centre of Wisbech, and there are plenty of food and drinks options in town. We took a band picture with Mario, but for some reason I can't upload it here.

- Nana (2/5): Filthy - The room was filthy. My partner and I returned the keys and went somewhere else. Do not be deceived by the pictures. It was a non-refundable booking, but I paid for insurance. The receptionist said was two star, but there is no excuse for a filthy bathroom and filthy window sills. We did not stay because we suspected we would be eaten alive by all manner of bugs overnight. Avoid this place, it’s shocking.

- P (8/5): Rose and Crown Wisbech - a nice stay. - Although several reviews were bad we thought we would still stay. On arrival we were met by manager who explained that there was no bar of food available in the Hotel which we already new. The room was spacious and clean which everything we required beds, coffee and tele. It was well heated. The bathroom was very large by hotel standards and included a full size bath. Again nothing bad to say. If you looking for a comfortable clean stay this could be your place. As I said not food available but there was a Wetherspoons about 6 minute walk away and and 50 yards away is "Pizza Crazy", which not only does pizzas but burgers, chips, chicken dippers and more at really good prices. Highly recomment.
- Chris (4/5): It's a shame - The manager and staff were friendly, but it is a real shame that this hotel, with such great potential, is now used as a place for asylum seekers and owned by Egyptians. Because of this, we were told, there is no bar or breakfast available (as there used to be before) and the hotel just seems like it is run down and unloved now. It could be so great.

Windows dirty and didnt close properley, rattled and noise came in from outside. Only a small amount of toilet paper on roll, had to ask at reception for amother roll. Very poor stay. Nousy

- Verified traveler (2/5): Absolutely awful!! - I booked this hotel for our aunt and uncle who were coming to visit, as i thought a hitel would be more comfortable than sleeping on our sofas or an airbed. We dropped them at the hotel around 8pm and collected them at 7am the next day. They said it was awful, dirty, and couldn't get into the bed and rather slept on top of it and used towels (which they had taken with them) as a "duvet" They said they wanted to call us in the night to collect them, but didnt want to disturb us. (As we have a baby and toddler) i got a call from the hotel to ask for feedback, i told them awful and i got an empty apology. I would not recommend staying here. Also, the heater was on full heat yet it had been about 24⁰c that day, no need for heating!!! We live fairly locally and will make sure people are aware not to recommend to others who may be visiting family/friends.
- Janet (6/5): A welcome stop on the way to a funeral. - Some of the hotel was built in the 1600s . It was a very interesting building. The staircase was grade 1 listed and we were on the third floor so it was a bit wonky to get up there. It was 2 star so we weren't expecting anything more. Our room was clean and comfortable but on the list to be refurbished. Our daughter's room was not up to the cleanliness of ours. The bed hadn't been changed and was broken in one corner. The people on reception were very keen to hear our views and put things right.

It boasts beautiful views but all we could see was a scruffy concrete space from a dirty window. Our room was meant to have a queen bed but it was two singles pushed together with a top sheet which didn't fit, so it came off as soon as qe got into bed. Nowhere to eat or drink on sight. Ours was meant to be a deluxe room, but there was nothing deluxe about it. We had disposable cups in the room. Unfortunately, the section to add pictures isn't working.

Toilet, sink and shower looked fairly new but round edge of lino floor was discoloured. Bits all over bedroom carpet. T.V not working. Lock on bedroom door very difficult to close. When we arrived it said on google the the place was closed. On making more enquiries I found out that the 5 star rating was for 2015 and has not been inspected since and since Covid all facilities had been shut except room rental.

Mario, the Italian manager is the star of the show. He’s very helpful and friendly and always has time to talk. In addition, the price was very competitive. Overall, very good.

- Hans (10/5): Back to the Rose and Crown - Good stay again cheap as chips into Peterborough in 20 minutes as long as you wake up early!

- Sean (2/5): Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, by a mile!!!! - Word can not describe how bad this hotel is, I dont know where to start... Dirty bedding, filthy room, water left in bath from previous guest, toilet black with body waste, tap broken in sink, pubic hairs on side of bath, carpets stained with the unthinkable, refused to let us put our vehicle in car park as we were too late and they have to lock the car park at nights as the crime level is bad, No bar, no restaurant, just look at the dirt on the lamp in my picture attached, Car park is just a dumping ground for rubbish, the list goes on and on, never have I stopped anywhere as bad, if we could of found anywhere else to stay we wold, I needed a shower when I got home as I feltt filthy.
- Sean (2/5): Worst hotel I have ever stayed in !!!! - Word can not describe how bad this hotel is, I dont know where to start... The bedding has marks and stains on it, The room was really unclean, Dirty bath water left in bath from the previous guest, toilet completely stained, tap broken in sink in bathroom, Curly black hairs on side of bath, carpets stained, refused to let us put our vehicle in the car park as we were apparently too late and they said they have to lock the car park at nights due to crime rate, No bar, no restaurant, just look at the dirt on the lamp in my picture attached, Car park is just a dumping ground for rubbish, the list goes on and on, never have I stopped anywhere as bad, if we could of found anywhere else to stay we would.
- Graham (2/5): - This hotel is in my opinion not fit to sleep in. The carpet and surfaces were dirty, and the mattress was covered in stains. We tried another room which turned out to be the same. So we decided not to stay and left.

- Ted (6/5): Only So-so and that's generous to hotel and town - This trip was purely to make sure my partner could attend a hospital appointment in the town, as we live 1.5 hours drive away with no traffic delays. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the hospital. Very handy, and that is really as good a comment as i can make. The room was not the one shown in the photos. The bed was fine and the towels provisioned also good. But the room was not so much "Shabby chic" as simply Shabby. Odd mismatched pieces of furniture, in poor to worse condition. The room was large but that meant the wall mounted TV being small, was barely visible from the bed it pointed at. There was a further sitting/dressing room between the bedroom and the bathroom. The bathroom was in pretty good condition, the bath big and deep and the shower was good with a sunflower head. Only 1 window out of 3 opened (limited for saftey) out of 3, but it was the one beside the head of the bed which means sleeping in a draught, or no with ventilation. The big niggle for me was after arriving and at check-in, I was told "you know we don't have food or drink here, so nothing to eat or drink or breakfast in this hotel?". It was said as though I should have known already. I had at least expected a bar where the hotel would clearly earn some extra much needed income. But "No". I went out and found the only nearby shop selling off licence. Gave them my money, and the Greek kebab stand nearby. Wisbech, like its Rose & Crown, has seen better days & doesn't seem to want to see them again

- Mat (6/5): Underwhelming - Reasonably comfortable room. Disappointing that no bar service or hot breakfast was available. Woken up at 1:30 am by a security guard trying to kick down a door for guests locked out of their room!
- Gary (6/5): Mario - Hotel was old but lovely But with no food or Bar available not much good as a Hotel only good thing to say Mario the Manager outstanding.
- Jenny (10/5): A happy hotel stay whilst at a local concert. - We had a lovely stay at the Rose and Crown. The staff are really friendly and very helpful. Everything was as expected and needed. It is a very old hotel which made it an interesting building to stay in.
- Christina (8/5): Wisbech - Our room wasn't cleaned during our 3 day stay stay and we had to ask for more toilet rolls and toiletries. Just used the hotel as an overnighter really as no food or alcohol on the premises. However the Italian gentlemen on the front desk was very welcoming and made our stay very pleasant. Understand there is a staffing problem.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Photos do not reflect the true state of the hotel - Room was not clean, torn tissue all over the floor, shower and toilet not clean. No pillowcases provided had to ask for them. The photos are not a true reflection of the state of the hotel. Staff were friedly and helpful, we did not eat here so cannot comment on breakfast.
- Neil (10/5): Last hotel standing - Reception staff were excellent as were the night staff. The hotel is amazing, historic beauty. The hotel rooms could be cleaner, but the bedding was fresh and clean as were the towels. All in all it was a great stay in a town that has very little to offer. Great location central for what I needed. Hopefully this last hotel in Wisbech will remain a hotel, so many historic buildings in the area have already gone and all its doing is adding final insult to an already failing market town.
- Verified traveler (6/5): The Unhappy one. - Hotel Was fine, cleanliness very poor rooms poorly decorated one coat of paint , parts not painted breakfast poor no English breakfast, had continental BUT cereals looked stale no fruite to go with yoghurt only dusty apples so se had toast, manger was always moaning about staff and violence and crime in Wisbech center we don't see any, he was telling the few guests he had the same story Hotel needs revamp and new Manager his heart is not in the job , kept blaming staff for every thing in stead of training property I stay will stay again if up graded and new management.
- Tabitha (6/5): Needed updating - It was last minute so was pleased to get a room and the receptionist was very polite and helpful however the room itself was basic it was clean but there was no bath plug the curtains were attempting to break free and when I say dated it would refer to the electrical maintenance.

- Jane (4/5): - The property was a listed Georgian property (1601), which was a fantastic, quirky building, steeped in history and could have been the most amazing hotel. Sadly it was not! The bedroom walls needed painting, there were cobwebs all over the place, the carpet needed vacuuming, the curtains were stained and there were leaks in the ceiling. There was a pool of water on the floor of the bathroom coming from a leak in the ceiling. We only had one cup provided for a cup of tea and only two sachets of milk, which meant that we could only have one drink between two of us. On a more positive note the bedding was clean and the receptionist was professional and friendly. I feel very disappointed that I paid so much money for such an unpleasant experience. It is such a shame.
- Mark (4/5): Very poor - Bedroom was unclean - carpet needed vacuuming, dead flies in the bathroom and window sills so you’d have to question how COVID safe it was. External noise was horrendous (needs double or triple glazing) Food was OK except no cooked option at breakfast. Bathroom needed re-grouting and re-sealing to get rid of dirty marks.
