Guest Reviews
- Eva (7/5): -
- Thornmac (9/5): -
- Sharron (10/5): Excellent option for a stay in Lagos! - The location was fantastic! Staff was phenomenal!
- ROANDA (10/5): Great option to stay for visiting and exploring lagos - you can walk everywhere - Great apartment with stunning city views from the balcony and room window. Small detail in the room was lovely - port on arrival, fresh water in the room. We arrived by bus, and it was a short walk to the accommodation from the bus station. N/A
- Joan (10/5): Met all my expectations - Location Nothing
- Hazel (8/5): - Breakfast ok, but buffet table was too cramped leaving no room to put my plate. Not too well insulated from noise in next room.
- Dorte (9/5): Meget fint ophold. Meget fint.
- MerjaAn (10/5): - Tunnelmallinen huone, jossa parveke.
Innen alles stimmig. Durch Lage natürlich etwas lauter am Morgen
- Helene (9/5): Under the roof with views of town - I had a room under the roof with a great balcony. You have to mind your head in the room. A lot of stairs to climb. I wonder what had happened in case of a fire. Breakfast was ok and I really appreciated the fresh orange juice.
Nada a apontar
- Davide (9/5): - Accoglienza
Struttura molto bella
Posizione centrale
- Susan (7/5): Great place to stay for exploring Lovely Lagos - Location was ideal.
Breakfast was good.
Nice to have port and a bottle of water in the room. Shower wasn’t great (cubicle leaked).
Water was discoloured on one day.
Bed quite hard.
- Jiri (10/5): Skvělé místo, čisté a kvalitně vybavené ubytování, spokojenost se servisem, snídaní - doporučuji! - Velmi pěkné a stylové ubytování, kompletně a vkusně vybavený pokoj, příjemný welcome set s portským :-), milá paní recepční, blízkost pěšky do centra Lagos, celkově moderní a čisté vybavení celé Residence, vynikající snídaně, tiché místo. Místní úzká (hodně) ulička a velmi malá možnost na zaparkování auta u Residence.
- Mirta (9/5): Lagos top - Stanza romantica luminosa, con vista sui tetti e terrazzino vista mare.
Letto confortevole.
Super colazione dolce e salata.
Struttura in pieno centro.
- Kevin (8/5): I would highly recommend staying at the Residence as it is leaps and bounds above anything else in the area. - Superb traditional Portuguese family owned and run boutique hotel right on the edge of the old quarter with all it has to offer on your doorstep.
- Jes (9/5): -
- Marco (8/5): Wonderful - Great place, very friendly host. -
- Blomen (9/5): -
- Joachim (10/5): - Die Unterkunft ist perfekt. Stilvoll und freundlich eingerichtet. Hier passt einfach alles.
- Daria (9/5): Wir kommen gerne wieder!
- Peter (9/5): -
- Mireille (9/5): A wonderful stay in a perfect old-town location. - I had a wonderful stay at Residence Lagos Hotel – the location is perfect right in the heart of the old town, and my room on the second floor with a balcony offered a beautiful view over the city and the sea. Even though it rained a lot during my visit, I really appreciated the cosy lounge area right outside my room, where I could relax on the sofas and get some work done on my laptop. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, and the breakfast, with freshly squeezed orange juice, was truly very good and served with great warmth.
- Facundo (8/5): -
- Christian (10/5): Kommer definitivt tillbaka!
- Gayle (8/5): - The breakfast was very good, fresh everyday. Laundry service was good, clean towels everyday and bed made.
- Seng Bum (10/5): - Everything was excellent. The staff were kind and the breakfast was good. The room was spacious, and every location is walkable.
- Ingrid Helene (10/5): -
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Pierre (10/5): - Alled top.
- 713JaneM713 (4/5): Disappointed - This is not a hotel. It is more like a b&b. It doesn’t look anything like in their website photos. Their advertised price in August for our September dates was 200 euros a night which is what we paid!! If only I knew that it wasn’t a hotel. The reviews are misleading. There is no reception. Our check in was very quick. No cooked breakfast and swimming pool (if you call it that) is a joke. At check in when I enquired why it so expensive, I was told it was because I booked in advance and they gave me the best room. This was a lie.
Just a perspective, our next stop was faro where we stayed in a well known 5 star chain and paid 250euros pn and it had 2 proper pools, a spa , an excellent breakfast and 24 hour reception service. We also booked it at the same time as residence.
Don’t book here expecting much. It’s fine if you want basic.
- Diane or Frank (10/5): - Located in easy walking distance to everything, yet quiet in the evenings. Good size room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Well kept and extremely clean.
I enjoyed my stay, the staff friendly and helpful. The only thing you need to know is parking is a few blocks away, and it’s not easy to park in front and drop your bags off.
Matelas trop dur.
- Julie (10/5): - Had a wonderful time. Felt very welcomed as soon as we arrived with the friendly receptionist giving us a tour of the hotel and giving us info on the area. Hotel is right inside the old city which made exploring really easy as you doing want to be driving on the narrow streets. Breakfast was good and a wonderful lady made us fresh squeezed orange juice every day.
Thank you for a great stay! Obrigado! Julie and Bryan 🇨🇦
- Kathleen (8/5): - Very clean, quiet and breakfast was great!
- Trupti (6/5): - This is more of a b&b rather than a hotel. It has 7 rooms. Doesn’t look anything like in their web photos There is nothing wrong with it if you are paying a fair price and not 200 euros pn like I did. The rooms are basic with creaking doors and noisy fridge. No individual bedside lights ( was suggested I take one bulb out!!)There is no one in the property after breakfast so you for example can’t refill your bottle of water. The check in was swift and friendly and there were little lovely gestures like a bottle of wine in room and cookies on checking out.
The breakfast was adequate with boiled egg for hot. Everything else cold. Fresh orange juice was a nice treat.
Perspective of pricing, I have been travelling from north to south of Portugal for last 2 weeks. I have come to my next stop faro where I am staying at a well known 5 star hotel. I booked all the hotels in advance at the same time. Here I paid 250 euros pn for a superior room and it has 24 hour service and oool and spa.
So my conclusion is that you should get what you pay.
- Pete (10/5): - The staffs were friendly/helpful; it's located in downtown with everything is within walking distance. The room is quirky nice in the attic with a private balcony with a view of the surrounding area and the ocean.
- Thomas (10/5): - We loved our stay at Residence!! The property is in such an amazing location - 20 seconds walk from lots of restaurants, bars, shops and more, yes it's quiet and private. Luana and the staff were super friendly and keep the rooms and common areas so clean and tidy. I would highly recommend staying here and would stay again!!
- Eduardo (9/5): - Todo
- Deb B (10/5): Exceptional hotel in a great location away from the hustle and bustle. - This property was exceptional, our host was very helpful and welcoming it is a great relaxing space with a small pool.
We had the two up stairs rooms with balconies and shared lounge room.
The breakfast offering was very good and the cook was great. The cook needs a new juicer she spent most of her time juicing which took her away from serving patrons. There also needs to be a better option for the hot water other than a thermos which is very hot and a bit dangerous.
- Jani (10/5): - The hotel is small, with only a few rooms, which makes it quiet, clean, and full of character. It has a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the location is excellent. The staff were truly friendly and wonderful, and the breakfast was excellent.
- John (8/5): - Fantastic location in Lagos. Super cute facility, very friendly and accommodating staff. Nice common sitting areas, both inside and out. There is no lift/elevator, and 2 of the rooms are: down a small set of stairs, then up a long circular set, then up another long circular set. Be ready for that with luggage! The staff are happy to help with that. And some of the rooms don't require so many stairs.
The free public parking lot is a 3-5 minute walk on uneven cobblestone. It can be very busy/full. The streets are narrow, one-way, and not on a grid so getting to the parking lot when you are unfamiliar with the area can be more challenging than you might expect. Be prepared for a little bit of "arrival frustration."
- Garhet (10/5): - Wonderful rooms, staff, and a great breakfast buffet which is a rare find in Portugal.
- Andreas (10/5): Sehr schönes kleines Hotel in hervorragender Lage - Sehr freundliches Personal, hervorragende Lage inmitten der Altstadt
- Shamus (10/5): - Great location - nice staff!
- Rimantas (8/5): - Location
- Martha (10/5): - Great customer service
- Hemanthkumar (8/5): - This place was ok. No staff was there when we arrived and rang mid day but a phone call fixed that. The staff person was welcoming and friendly once we met her.
The stay was average-to-good.
The good: it’s a decent location near the center of Lagos but away from the main drag and all its activity and noise. It was clean.
What could improve:
They didn’t provide enough toiletries for example shampoo and soap to last through the stay. The furnishings felt dated. The safe was not large enough to hold a laptop. It didn’t feel like there was a lot of privacy for example in terms of hearing the rooms next to you but this is to be expected in an old guesthouse.
Overall I would not stay there again. Other people might enjoy it more.
- Giulia (9/5): -
- Denisa (8/5): - Good location in the city center, nice breakfast included (but don't expect any lactose free products;) The fact there was no laundry rack or nothing similar available. When you come in summer, spend time on beach and have some wet towels and swimming suits that you want to get dry by next morning it's a bit unpleasant you have nowhere to dry them (our room had no balcony) We had to use hangers and had them all around the room to dry stuff.
If you want to get close to your apartment by car, one needs to be ready to only throw the luggage out of car quickly and move on with the car through very narrow streets to get to the parking.
- Irenea (10/5): Cozy with amazing service - So kind staff with very good service:) very cozy place, really recommend
- Angela (10/5): - Communication was excellent, location very central in Lagos, great breakfast, and the little extras (a welcome bottle of wine and chocolates) made our stay comfortable and memorable!
- Lida (10/5): - Cozy, beautiful and central location. Within a minute from city centre and shopping. 10 minutes walk to the main beaches.
- Abraham (6/5): - Ubicación, el personal y el desayuno incluido. El colchón y almohada muy incómodos.
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional - Great location in the old town, breakfast included, clean modern bathroom. Great service with free welcome wine and fruit, daily cleaning and a goodbye present.
- katiehR1742EF (10/5): Great Stay to Explore Lagos! - This was a cozy stay in a smaller bed and breakfast style boutique hotel. Our room was clean and well-kept. We used the air conditioning at night, so our room was quiet (with the exception of a few squawking seagulls to greet us in the morning :) The breakfast was nice to have in the mornings and the hostess of breakfast was always super helpful - we’d asked if there were beach towels and she quickly found 2 for us to use during our stay. We enjoyed the location since it was walkable to the main areas, while being a tiny bit tucked away for privacy. Ring the bell upon arrival (don’t try the door knob :) to be greeted and then given a tour. Great stay for exploring Lagos, Sagres, Lagoa, and any other areas of the Algarve!
- Aleksandra (10/5): Lovely stay! - The view from the room was superb! The little balcony was great for a sit down in the evenings. The breakfasts were good and the fresh orange juice made to order was incredible! The check in staff was really helpful and sweet. Would recommend.
- Craig (8/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. A good location for the marina and old town
- Sandi (10/5): - The host was very welcoming, great location and a great property
- Stephanie (10/5): - The location of the hotel is excellent, right at the heart of the old town but very quiet
- Jarvinen (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful property in a great location in the old city. Spotlessly clean, welcome bottle of wine, great buffet breakfast, we loved our stay here. Big thanks to Luana who could not have been nicer or more helpful and informative during our stay. Highly recommend
- Manda (9/5): A lovely property and a lovely stay in Lago. - A lovely house, quiet and peaceful. A delightful room and a lovely breakfast. Tricky to access and nowhere to park, but once this was overcome - which was not difficult - it was a lovely stay. And the difficulties could not be avoided, other than a bit more information perhaps.
- Mario (10/5): - Well located, excellent service.
- Ryan (10/5): - Wonderful property. The lady working the front desk was super sweet, accommodating, and very knowledgeable of the surroundings. She gave us some good food recommendations and made the whole process very simple. I can’t wait to return.
- Neil (10/5): Gem of a Hotel - We wanted to stay somewhere quite central and the Residence Lagos was perfect for this, just a 3 minute uphill walk from the square. The hotel is tastefully decorated throughout and is spotlessly clean. We arrived early but the host was very welcoming and quickly made sure that our room was ready. A complimentary bottle of wine, water and fruit in the room was a nice touch, as is the complimentary port. The breakfast was very nice, consisting of fresh croissants, bread rolls, ham, cheeses, boiled eggs, cake, fruit, yogurts and jams, as well as freshly squeezed orange juice available on request. The hotel is quite small but has a cosy feel and we enjoyed sitting out on the balcony for breakfast and in the afternoons. All in all a lovely place to stay.
- Travel58640893965 (8/5): Residence Inn, good stay - Had a top floor room with a small balcony. The bed was quite hard, could use an upgrade. Everything else was very good. Cold breakfast but enjoyed it. An earlier start to breakfast would be good for me. Parking close by was not a problem. Would recommend to friends.
- Michael (10/5): - Great host. Wonderful included breakfast.
Would stay here again.
- Ulvila (9/5): Charming stay at Lagos - The room on the top floor with the balcony was lovely! The staff were friendly and welcoming - they even offered us a bottle of wine at check-in, which was a nice touch. Breakfast was good and the location was great and close to everything. there was no espresso machine, the shower leaked a bit. Parking is about a 5-minute walk away, but there was always space available (though it might be trickier in high season). Still, we had a very pleasant stay!
- Ana (9/5): Superb - The location is very good when you want to explore the old town in Lagos. You can walk pretty much everywhere.
The room was very comfortable and spacious.
Breakfast was simple but q good gesture The parking advertised is the public parking lot for the old town, about 5min walk from the hotel not directly at the property
- Trina (8/5): - Very cute property! Staff was very helpful. Bedroom and bathroom were a decent size. Great little laundromat just down the street to do laundry at a reasonable price (vs the per piece price at the property). The only recommendations to share are that bedding and towels could be better quality and the water and amenities in the room could be freshened up daily. This property is situated up a steep hill so plan for a good climb! Walk to the nearest beach is about 15 minutes.
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marla (8/5): - New, nicer towels and improved toiletries (at least body wash) would have improved our stay. The hostess was very friendly when we first arrived, but we never saw her again, resulting in minimal interaction with staff to ask questions about the area, etc.
Location was great... it truly is in the old town, a 10 minute walk to the marina, but you will need a taxi to the train station1
- Lynch (10/5): We really loved staying here. - Everything…location, staff, room, breakfast were all excellent. Nothing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Exceptional Service - The hotel staff was very friendly and exceptionally helpful.
Luana was so very kind to ride to the parking lot with us, so that we would not get lost, or turn the wrong way down the narrow streets.
Very clean hotel, and we enjoyed the continental breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice.
We would stay at this property again.
- Charlotte (8/5): Residence Lagos - The room was very nice with a little balcony with a view. The bed was not so comfortable.
The cleaning was good and the breakfast was also good with a bit of everything to chose from. We especially loved the fresh orange juice!
The personnel is very kind and accommodating.
The hotel is near shopping and restaurants but if you have a hard time with walking up hills its not an option as it's situated high up and also only have stairs.
A chilled bottle of vinho verde was waiting for us upon arrival which was very appreciated :)
- Doris (9/5): I’d come back to this hotel if back in Lagos! - Nice comfortable interesting old building- newly renovated Towels a bit old….
- Robert (2/5): - we were very surprised when we checked in. it was NOT what we expected. I can't understand how I booked it. We were expecting a hotel with rooms and parking. This was more like a hostel, no parking, we were only guests. We did not stay, we booked another hotel and left without staying.
- Wayne (10/5): Loved our stay and would book again if we ever get back to Portugal. - Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very nice, clean and very quiet. Breakfast was perfect. Great location…. close to the old town and close to the beach. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Larger coffee cups (mugs instead of cups and saucers) in our room would have worked better for us. Hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes would have been nice.
- Vicente (10/5): - Excellent facilities and even better attention from reception to cleaning
