• Bryan (5/5): Not the greatest, but comfortable- Dated, Noisy and Basic - Bed and Pillows were comfy as - Room was clean - AC worked well and was relatively quiet - Shower water pressure was awesome - Bar staff were very helpful with a couple of things, as the only time I saw the manager the whole time we stayed was at check in time, the bar staff had to go out back to get her, she was relatively polite - check out was easy, just drop the room key in a after hours box. Let's start with the room. I don't think any renovations or change has been made, bar a paint job, in the whole accommodation part of the hotel since the 1990's. The room we had was on the street side, paper thin glass windows which let the street noise in so badly, the only thing stopping me from checking if the windows were open, was the fact the room AC was set for 19°C and outside was literally 40°C (heat wave). There was a speed hump right outside the hotel, so every tom dick and Harry with a done up car changing from 1st to 2nd gear, sounded like our room was on the street shop front. The room had no TV remote so we had to ask the bar staff to ask the manager to get one - The bath had been leaking at a constant thin stream, not dripping, but at that slight silent stream for so long the water has worn away the white enamel of the bath. A simple washer replacement could have prevented this and ten of thousands of litres of Syd water and $. The shower, wait for it... had a old black shower curtain. Eeeek!! I did not dare to look down at the infamous bottom 2 ft of it, as the high possibility of many years of Body fat and mould would of been visable. Lets just say i kept my distance and did not let it touch me. The shower head was loose and needed hard tightening to keep in place and is starting to drip as well. God knows how long it will take to replace that washer. Toilet paper was cheap and nasty. Lastly the curtains for the windows did not keep the light out well, so although the bed was very comfy, don't plan on sleeping in because the light and street noise won't let you. Even on a Sunday. Sadly I don't think this review will change much there, as change hasn't happened for over 30 years. Its probably a tax right off for the business. I'm not sharing photos as my description should be enough

The beds were very comfortable, the air conditioning actually worked unlike some 4* hotels! Large enough room for everything. Very quiet despite a pub underneath. Yummy breakfast on the cheap next door. Walking distance to supermarket and pharmacy. The staircase.

It was clean and it’s got all necessities you need (iron, ironing board, coffee, water, kettle, etc). We were offered complimentary drinks from their bar which was a good bonus. The hotel is a little bit far from train stations going to the city. You’ll need at least one hour to an hour and a half to travel to CBD.

• Noah (1/5): Want to have refund as this hotel is not what they promised - We checked in and then noticed that the area is absolutely not safe for our car as parking was on the backside of the house full of druggies. Can’t park 150k car there when someone already there figured out how to take off the wheels on my car. They mentioned we’ve parking but not mentioned where should be mentioned more The room smelled like “old cheese” and window timber been wet for long time and smelled funny. Door handles and under the bed was really bad, we check ind then check out after 4min as it was very bad hotel. We straight away booked Novotel with parking and good service
• Thorben (3/5): - Das Personal war super freundlich. Es war komplett schmutzig, eckelige Flecken auf dem Teppich. Die Bettdecke so voller alter Flecken dass wir sie sofort aus dem Bett geworfen haben. Die Dusche ist undicht sodass man die ganze Nacht das tropfende Wasser hört, die Lüftung funktioniert nicht und am Waschbecken ist kein Wasserdruck. Das Fenster lässt sich auch mit etwas angemessener Kraft nicht öffnen und einen Zimmerservice gab es in den drei Tagen nicht.

• Yoshi (2/5): Not all bathrooms are designed equally, and even the most equal, has mold. - The front desk staff, and the online CSAs, was the most helpful they could be, within the impossible constraints that Booking.com put them in. When I initially booked 2 nights online, for some reason Booking.com had booked 1 day in one room, and 1 day in a completely different room (which I didn't even know Booking.com did!) The person at the front desk did the best they could to rectify the situation, by booking me another room that was free for both nights, and giving me a card that would provide free drinks in the bar. However, they did not know the true horror of this room... Mold. I didn't notice it while I used the shower the 1st night (the horror), but my husband certainly did the 1st morning! Attaching pics. We immediately left that morning, and called the desk asking for a refund of the 2nd night. The front desk unfortunately were blocked from filing this partial refund on Booking.com. Then we went on the Booking.com chatbot, which had replaced live customer service agents with bad AI, and an email was sent out. Someone saw it, and tried to escalate, and the best they could process for me was a 17 AUD credit. The room setups are mild-boggling. We got Room 19, which had its own bathroom. I read from other reviews that other rooms have shared bathrooms with each other. I should have taken more photos of the bathroom, because it truly belongs in the subreddit r/diWHY. For some reason, the bathroom area has almost the same square footage as the bedroom area. And over half the bathroom area, is this strange, open-air vanity area; 20% of the area is dedicated to the toilet, and 20% of the area is dedicated to the shower. The tiling job was uneven (so at a certain point, without constant bleaching by the cleaners, mold is somewhat unavoidable). The mechanism that holds the shampoo bottle, was not fully closed (at least there WAS some shampoo). There was a huge bar of soap, which was a first for me in any hotel, and this was the area that had the most mold. I'm not so much angry, as much as flabbergasted and intrigued by the overall design of this hotel -- room 19 gets its own bathroom, but it has mold and has a vanity area wider than the toilet area and shower area combined. And the other rooms have shared bathrooms. What was the thought behind this? It feels like this used to be a hostel, and some disastrous event ruined it -- a murder, private equity -- and whoever bought the place, did the best they could in revamping it.

• Sherna (5/5): Photos never lie, except here - It was clean. The photos were deceptive. The room was old, the bathroom old, the beds very soft. Our room was nothing like the photos, which gave fresh paint, space, new bathrooms and trees outside. The NOISE from traffic was like 'sleeping' by a speedway track as cars /bikes accelerated constantly until midnight at least, then it began again early morning, even though it was Sunday.

• Omoya (7/5): It is was generally a good environment to be for a vacation. - We didn't have breakfast, but we were told we could come for milk or hot chocolate. So I can't make comments about their meals. Check out was very easy and straightforward. Birds making noise on the roof. It was like things were moving around in the roof which made waking up in the morning a bit uncomfortable. The bathroom needs more cleaning and maintenance.

• Gerlinde (2/5): - Honestly I never book Pub Accomodation because of the reputation, however, I thought I give it a chance, as it was in walking distance of my travel reason. The lady at the check in was friendly, however, the clientele definitely not my cup of tea. I was shocked what I saw in the bathroom (took photos), the vanity was a disgrace, the shower was not cleaned properly for a long time and the soap holder is a health risk. I did not walk on the carpet or the bathroom floor without shoes. Sure, I may have a high standard of hygiene, and I realise that this is a budget accommodation, however, having a clean environment represents pride and dignity and doesn't cost the world. Apparently, the cleaners, who I would dismiss instantly, nor the management has any pride, shame on you. Do a check up before you hand over rooms for toilet paper (nearly empty roll) and working facilities (heater was not working and unit was dirty too) Wash down the wall and maintain. The positive thing was that the products in the bathroom are vegan/no animal cruelty, thank you that was very much appreciated. I did not spent time in the room, only to sleep, otherwise I would have moved out, even for two days. My friends will not recommend this place to their guests/friends anymore as it is run down. I did not approach staff to discuss these issues, as i didn't want to waste my time, the presentation speaks for itself. Photos and housekeeping do not represent reality.
