Guest Reviews
- Deirdra (9/5): - We were a walk away from the beach. I could hear the waves from my bedroom. Indoor pool was a bonus with the chilly weather. A bit dark inside.
- Deloris (7/5): -
- Elizabeth (6/5): Space and connivence but with some downsides - The property was very well positioned. It was great to easily walk through to the beach and the tennis court was especially fun for us. The beds were comfy enough and the unit was spacious. There were issues with dead bugs throughout the unit. Hot water ran out in shower. The couch was the most uncomfortable couch I have ever sat on. Coffee was provided but was extremely low quality. Guests are tasked with many clean-up tasks like taking out the trash, washing dishes, and stripping beds. Since check in/out is not so generous, it seemed contradictory that these tasks would be handled by the guests and not the property.
- Inna (10/5): Resort is very close to the beach - What an amazing place! We would definitely stay here again. We were with two kids and we had such a fun time. The beach is very close to the units. The unit was big, very clean. We had everything we needed for our stay, utensils, the grounds well maintained, front desk and stuff were very helpful and friendly. The playground is new and was close to our unit. There is bbq grill to every unit. There is also laundry. The game room had many options to offer for kids.
- Leslia (8/5): -
- Bishop (7/5): -
- Zachary (10/5): - Great quiet place to stay with exceptionally wonderful staff. Plenty of room in the unit we stayed in. The facilities were also easily accessible. The staff took great care of us and were wonderful to my family.
- Jessica (5/5): -
- Hanan (6/5): - Musty smell. Great access to the beach.
- Andrew (10/5): - Our family had a great stay and plan on returning next year. Having a full condo with being right on the beach made our vacation so much more relaxing. Staff was friendly.
- Richard (10/5): Fantastic place to stay for an amazing weekend!! - Loved the ocean front condo. We didn't use the 2nd bedroom, but we'll keep that in mind for the future. We're very likely to come back again. Everything was clean. Having (free) laundry just downstairs was a big help. We packed enough, but a minor accident meant we needed to clean some clothes.
Convenient spot for parasailing, horse tour, and not too bad of a drive to go see Fort Raleigh. Great restaurants nearby, and shopping too. Looking forward to coming back in the future.
- Jeanna (10/5): - The room was spacious and comfortable. There were a few minor issues like the drain plug being broken in the bathroom, a broken shelf in the fridge and fish bait left outside on the balcony. But we still had a great time. Loved that it was soo close to the beach. It was beautiful and we even saw bunnies on the property. Loved the convenience of the pots and pans inside the room and the little park and outdoor activities located just five mins from the room. Great place to spend your vacation(:
- Paula (4/5): Would not return. - Nice kitchen. Furniture comfortable. No pool on premises- very disappointing!
No view.
- Myrtle (9/5): It was rainy most the time besides the last day that guy - Price distance to the beach We had to travel to go to the pool. The pool wasn’t working.
- Francis (10/5): - We were right on the water and were able to enjoy beautiful sunsets.
- christopher (2/5): - Arrived and room smell like mold. Move to mother room smell the same was told to let it air out and they could move us to another the next day. Same problem on third room. Still charged for 1 night will not answer hotel.com support to get refund don’t stay there. Source of mold coming from air vents
- Christine Knight (10/5): -
- Hendrickson (9/5): This is my 4th year staying at Ocean Pines. I would stay again in a heartbeat! - Ocean Pines is in a great location. I love the beach there. The game room is great. The value is excellent! The room could have been a little cleaner. I found q-tips on the floor between my bed and the night stand. The carpet in the spare bedroom did not seem to be cleaned. Also, the couch and loveseat were very uncomfortable.
- Felicia (10/5): It was amazing. Can’t wait to go back next year. - It had plenty of shade the staffing there was great
- Janet (7/5): We had a nice time even with just a few problems, but the staff was quick to fix it - The unit was exceptionally clean! It didn’t have a pool. However I understand that they are working on it. But we were provided a really nice pool about 8 minutes down the road at another facility! Also our air conditioning went out and we spent one pretty miserable night! The next morning, we were quickly provided with a nice replacement for the remainder of our stay. Really the only REAL complaint I have was that the sofa bed was horrible! The other things were really only inconveniences. THE UNIT WAS ONE OF THE CLEANEST WE HAVE EVER STAYED IN! It was pretty much SPOTLESS!
- Jodi (6/5): - The proximity to the beach was great! The location in Duck was also great. Unfortunately, the room was pretty run down as was the outside of the facility - you could tell it wasn't kept up very well. Washer/Dryer was not in the room but a shared facility on the grounds. We had no internet and the office staff was not able to assist at all. I had to call 3 times over a month just to get confirmation of our stay then received NO check in details. Fortunately, I called and was given a code for late check in so we could get our room key.
- Khari (6/5): - Pull out bed difficult to use/close.
Update furniture.
Enjoyed deck & water view
- Frances (8/5): Decent - repairs in process - lovely property - Ocean Pines is a beautiful property that spans the barrier island - expansive beach to bay. I liked that the beach entrance was right at the lifeguard chair.
Many of the units - like ours - have a lovely deck or two. We spent a lot of time on the deck because it was shaded and breezy and great to be among the huge lovely trees on the property. Tons of large live oaks and Loblolly pines - really nice to see how they were preserved.
One downside of the property was that the pool was closed! We did not expect this - and were counting on swimming. Additionally the ocean was too rough for swimming so that was a disappointment. Since the pool is being worked on (cement trucks and all), I feel that the property should have notified us.
The unit was ok - a bit dated and worn, and a bit musty with the carpet (I really don't understand putting carpet in a rental in this climate!). The beds were comfy and the kitchen functioned well. It was very nice to have shaded parking right at the unit - nice touch.
The interior stairs were quite steep - I wouldn't bring grandma to this property! We are in our 60s and found ourselves really grabbing the banister and being very cautious getting up and down the 3 levels (entrance on bottom, bedrooms and bathrooms on 2nd floor, kitchen DR and LR on 3rd floor).
The neighborhood was great - not a long drive to food or coffee or whatever. But not really walkable if that's what you want.
- Annabubble (5/5): - Short walk or ride to the beach was perfect. Beds were very comfortable in both bedrooms. For the price charged, I expected the property to be in better condition. My washing machine was broken and I informed the front desk on my first day. It was never fixed. There were spiders and cobwebs all through the entire unit. The master bathroom vent also had signs of mold around the vent and all over the tub stopper. Our ice machine didn't work but ice trays were provided. The light in the main living area was blown and the light over the kitchen cabinets only worked when it wanted to. I was also not informed until after check in that the pool was down, although they did offer use at a resort down the road, that just didn't work for my family having a small child and being the only adult. The playground was in the process of being replaced but there were no signs to let me know it was partially dismantled. I only discovered this when my 4 year old started to climb and almost fell through a giant hole. And rhe wifi didn't work at all the first day. Repairman came the second day and had to install a router. But the password provided didn't work. Overall a very disappointing place to stay and very misleading from their profile on the site.
- Jennifer (10/5): Great stay - Great view. Spacious living and bedroom areas. Walkway to beach was connected to building, which was super convenient Pool wasn't working...it was under construction, so really not a complaint
- Wright (2/5): I will not return to a nasty place. - Nothing really. I do not sharing with spiders. Called maintenance upon arrival to kill the spiders and clean webs. He came timely, was very nice. Said he would have housekeeping clean again - they never showed up. This gentleman came again and cleaned, mostly outside. He needs a raise. I saw no one else the entire stay. Except the spiders! There were cobwebs everywhere.
- Donald (1/5): Bad - The property was nothing like it was advertised on the website. The pool wasn’t available. The website said that it was ocean front. I called the property management to tell that we would not be staying there. The property smelled awful. I wasn’t pleased with the help that I received from booking.com. I don’t think I will be using booking.com anymore.
- Anna (8/5): The accommodations were great and we would stay here again! - Our apartment was very clean, plenty of space for our family of four (2 bdrm/2 bath), loved that we had our own washer/dryer, and kitchen was well stocked with plates, utensils, small appliances; everything you’d need to prepare meals throughout your stay. A few minutes walk to the beach with a lifeguard present every day. The pool was under renovation but we did have pool privileges at a nearby resort which was really nice and spacious
- Harold (4/5): - We informed them our flight was delay4 hours. We were told to go to a lock box for our keys, they were not in there. Called after hours number an hour later a young lady arrives with the keys. We go to the unit and it was not cleaned after previous tenant. Had to call again young lady shows up with different unit, we get there and it’s a third floor walk up. The next day they want us to move I refused as being a senior citizen it’s was difficult enough to get our things yo the walk up. Units are old need work, safety handles in tub missing, missing handles on drawers. Three flights of stairs in hot sun, these units are not senior citizen friendly. Outdoor shower not well maintained. If you unit is near the beach you’re ok if your unit is near the office it’s a long walk to the beach. I wouldn’t go there again too rundown, water is yellow. Hauling groceries up to third floor is difficult especially cases of water and heavy suit cases.
- Jaleesa (10/5): Great family vacation, and Amanda the office manager is amazing. - The property environment was very clean and quiet. There is a 3 minute walk to the beach. There is a 2 minutes walk to fishing pier. Great location. The pool was closed due to construction, a partner pool was available. Just would've been perfect to have accessible pool on property's
- Nicole (4/5): Disappointing -
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Tucker (10/5): Always enjoyable - Everything was wonderful! This is our 5th stay & we loved the layout of the single floor unit on the beach. Perfect for our multi-generational family. Wish we had known the pool was under renovation.
- Christina (9/5): Loved it! Had a great time - We really enjoyed the beautiful view from our rooms There was no notification about the work being done on the indoor pool, I'm probably going to book somewhere else next time
- Suzanne (10/5): - Partial ocean view. Close to Corolla and other attractions. Wish the pool was open. Well maintained grounds.
- Anonymous (10/5): Loved it! - The sound side sunset. The beautiful walk over to the Oceanside. The huge fish my husband caught. Very peaceful. We plan to go back. The staff was great! The living room furniture wasn’t comfortable. They are in the process of changing it.
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- Meighan (8/5): - It was bigger than I expected and the bedrooms were separated from each other which I really appreciated. Kitchen had everything we needed and the larger bedroom had its own TV which was convenient. The bed was hard and the mattress cover nearly non existent. The top sheet came off each time I moved around.
Be prepared for a lack of Wi Fi and lack of cell reception.
It was alittle dated but I would definitely stay here again.
- Mackenzie (10/5): Great place, great price. - We booked this last minute and didn’t know what to expect. It was our first time to the area. We were pleasantly surprised. The room/condo was right in the beach with beautiful views of the ocean from our deck. Only a few steps away from the beach. The tennis/pickleball court was in excellent condition, with good equipment! We did have to buy our own pickleballs (not a big deal)and enjoyed it every day. The pool was going through what looks like some much needed renovations. Not a big deal, we were there for the beach. We enjoyed watching the dolphins, and the quiet beach. We enjoyed the short drive to Duck and the adorable shops. The room/condo was equipped with everything! The bed was excellent and the pull-out couch clean but the pillows could use some updating. There was a moldy smell near the sliding doors and a water stain on the ceiling. The half bath also had a moldy/closed up smell. This didn’t bother us but may others. But there was an half bath!! Everything was very clean and We would definitely book here again.
- Sarah (9/5): Very Peaceful. - Apartments were clean. Very spacious. Property is well maintained. Easy access to the beach. Lots of things for kids to do. Game room, board games, fitness room, basketball, tennis, play ground. Sport equipment was provided. The stove in our apartment was very finicky. One minute it didn’t want to get hot & cook, the next, it was burning what we were cooking.
Unfortunately, the pool was closed. Which we didn’t know until after we booked. Property did have a connection with another resort to use their pool.
- Mary (10/5): - It just felt like home
- Charles (2/5): - We never checked in DISCUSTING!
- Becky (8/5): Great property to explore Outerbanks - Lovely spacious property close to beach. Comfy beds and plenty of kitchen crockery.
Issue with broken outdoor table fixed promptly by friendly maintenance man This is the second time we have stayed at an Ocean Pines property but we had no communication prior to arrival about how to collect key out of hours.
On
We were delayed getting there so no one in reception and had to call a number and lady manning the phone said it should of been sent to us. Fellow guest provided code before out of hours got back to us.
- Charity (4/5): - You can’t beat the location, that part was amazing. Staff was friendly. I’m not a snob or bougie but this place was run down. I would have considered staying here again but the bath water I ran for my daughter was brown.
- Barry (8/5): - great location. spacious living arrangements
- Rebecca (6/5): - The staff, location, and view were excellent. The condition of the condo was surprisingly poor. Our oven and refrigerator were not in good working order. Only one burner on the stove top worked and dining chairs are so rickety it felt like they are all getting ready to fall apart. The condo is spacious and has a great view, but the condo is out dated by at least 40 years. It's still in the late 70's early 80's style. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but we had to lower our standards.
- Naomi (6/5): - We booked this property for the indoor pool knowing that the ocean would be too cold to swim being in April. When we arrived, we were informed that the indoor pool was closed due to renovations. They said their sister resort had an indoor pool that we were allowed to use. When we visited their resort, the pool was also closed due to construction.
- bhavik (4/5): - Swimming pool closed
Ac not working
Mosquito infestation
Broken windows
Phones don’t work
No onsite support or maintenance
- K (9/5): Superb -
- Mindy (8/5): - It was clean and easy to get check in and out after hours. I will for sure be staying again.
- Sarah (10/5): - Our family (kids 11 and 8 yrs) had a wonderful time. Can’t beat the location or view of the beach. 2 mile walk to town, if you bike, it would take you 10 min. The place was very clean. My kids loved the game room and being able to walk right out to the beach. They were disappointed the pool was under construction, but it is the off season. I appreciated a free laundry facility and having simple kitchen supplies. The place it dated, but it’s like visiting your grandma. If you do have any issues with mobility or have babies you have to carry, I can see where getting up to the condos and to the beach would be an issue. We had a 10/10 time and plan to be back next year.
- Donald (10/5): - Nice and easy beach access.
Relaxed feel on the property.
- Crystal (5/5): Nice location, could use some updating. Poor communication with staff - Nice location with sound access Pool was closed, with no notice. Maintenance said one day.. it was closed the rest of the trip. This was the only reason I booked this property, I could have stayed at a house with a hot tub that was accessible. Staff was never in the office.
- Janet (10/5): - I was able to sit on the balcony and see the sunrise and watch dolphins playing in the ocean. If we had an issue they were right there to take care off it.
- Kyle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liz (4/5): Disappointing - Location The pool was kind of gross and had really large spiders floating in the water
- Verified traveler (10/5): Family vacation with 2 teenagers - We recently enjoyed a fantastic family vacation with our two teenagers at this hotel. The location is perfect, just steps away from the ocean, and the apartment was spacious and well-appointed. The beach was stunning and pleasantly uncrowded, making it a peaceful retreat. Our kids even got up early twice to watch the sunrise (yes, teenagers!).
The kitchen was well-equipped, allowing us to cook some meals and save money. The facility also has an indoor pool and a hot tub, which I made good use of, as well as a game room and a small gym that kept everyone entertained.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating, helping us extend our stay.
We would definitely come back and highly recommend this hotel to others.
- Lolita (10/5): It was wonderful for a second time and plan on going back soon - Location and staff Really loved everything about our stay at Ocean Pines.
- Lisa (10/5): - I loved the oak trees and the birds. Our site had an amazing view of the ocean as we were on the 3rd floor. We saw humpback whales, dolphins, pelicans, terns, grebes, and more. We appreciated our time there and intend to return.
- Devon (6/5): - Cute unit but not worth it - the after hours check in was about the only smooth process. I went to pay the $10 nightly fee, but their system was down. We left our number so we could come back later. Amanda called a few hours later who very rudely stated that we had a balance due on our account that we had to pay immediately. We went to the office and gave our card to pay the amount owed. Amanda called the next day stating that our card was declined. Turns out that she charged someone's MasterCard and we only use Visa. Once we got that situated, we went out to do some shopping and while we were out, I received another phone call from Amanda advising that the housekeepers had informed her that when they went to clean our unit, all of our stuff was still in there. I advised that we still had another day on our reservation. Amanda was adamant that we were supposed to check out that day and had already checked us out (she charged us $40 for nightly rate even though she checked us out after 3 days). After a few minutes of back and forth, she admitted we were supposed to check out the following day. We got back to the unit and the door was unlocked and slightly opened from where housekeeping was there earlier, leaving our items unsecured. When I addressed this with her in person, she was overall dismissive. She said that due to the inconvenience, we wouldn't be charged for the 4th night. I had prepaid for the trip months ago and have yet to see a credit on my bank account.
- JoAnn (8/5): - Plenty of room .. quiet
- Andrea (6/5): Overall we had a good vacation at the resort but won't be returning to this place again. - We enjoyed the indoor whirlpool and pool, the beauty of the grounds and the convenience of being close to the beach and the sound. We had hoped to have an oceanfront or soundfront room but none were available because we didn't book our stay directly with Ocean Pines Resort. We were rarely able to reach anyone in the office at Ocean Pines Resort but the maintenance men were very helpful during our stay.
- Jim (6/5): Pleasant -
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We came to Ocean Pines with our infant twins and 4.5 year old. Let me start by saying these properties are not infant/toddler friendly as the stairs are treacherous and the railing is very wide. The next thing is the lack of reliability from the front office staff. I had called in advance for an inquiry. No answer and no return call. I called during our stay for house keeping to get necessities, no return call and no house keeping. Lastly, the suite was extremely dirty. There was p**p stains near the toilets, dry wall pealing off the walls, the place was just run down. The pool area was even more gross. We will be looking to stay elsewhere next time as this was just not a great property. One positive was that we were extremely close to the beach, but we struggled with no ramp to get there. Was tall steep steps, which made it hard to carry our infant twins and stuff to enjoy a day at the beach. Overall, disappointing stay. Definitely not worth the money they charge.
- Cassandra (2/5): Very poor -
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (8/5): Very good - Prime location. Units are a little dated .Staff was great. Love the access to the beach and town area. Unit could be cleaner primarily spider webs and front entry door was dirty. Ice maker didnt work and no ice trays.
- Ann (5/5): At the end of the day we meet up with out beach family and love this location - Love Ocean Pines! Have been going for years this unit just needs some TLC The smell and the comfort of the furniture and bed
- Karen (8/5): Other than it could use some updating, would absolutely stay there again! - Family feeling and on the beach. Very roomy. It had a bit of a musty smell, indicating that the carpet needed to be replaced. Missing light bulbs and could use updating. Otherwise, would absolutely stay there again!
- Chassidy (8/5): - Right on the beach. The office was very good with communication. Rooms were alittle dated but they are doing alot of upgrading so thay will change really soon.
- Long (8/5): Very good - Paid ocean view front but dunes were the view.
- Shannon (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. It was a nice condo and just a walk across the parking area to the ocean. The only negative is it had a lot of observable “palmetto bugs” inside the unit.
- Blevins (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johnson (10/5): Exceptional - Very family oriented community and close/convenient to the beach. The residence was very spacious for our family of 6! One of the best vacations to the beach! Had everything we needed like we were right at home. The water leak in the back, but things happen.
- Dennis (6/5): - The unit was clean but smelled very musty and like mold.
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional - How spacious it was and how comfortable the beds were and close to the beach
- Gabriela (10/5): Awesome place to stay! - Great place to stay! Felt like being at home. The view was beautiful! Has everything you need to cook. Very clean and comfortable! It's worth the price! The staff was very pleasant and helpful! No comments. We were very pleased with everything!
- Natalie (10/5): - Everything was excellent at Ocean Pines. This was one of the best vacations we have ever had! We will definitely be coming back.
- Courtney (9/5): Superb - Loved that we have a view of thw ocean The wifi didn't show up for us at the house
- Cheever (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): Friendly staff, clean, great location to beach and sound. - Good location between sound and ocean both in a short walking distance anywhere your located on the property Upper level balcony needs cover. Would stay again anyway:
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (8/5): - Very nice and quiet beach. People were very nice and the unit we stayed in was clean and spacious for 6 of us.
- Brooklyn (2/5): - We stayed for 4 nights, and selected an ocean view room. When we arrived, we were placed in a unit ACROSS the road from the ocean, facing the canal. This was a slap in the face considering the cost. Especially considering that we had to either drive onto the property and hope to find parking to access the beach, or a 20 minute walk with our small child across a busy road. We couldn't even enjoy the balcony we did have, due to the amount of spiders and bugs outside. The balcony was COVERED in webs and spiders galore. The condo is extremely outdated, but that's manageable. The beds having dried blood stains is what really got to us. To top it all off, the cleaners showed up in the middle of our stay, trying to get into the condo! We had a complete invasion of privacy, and I find it completely unprofessional that they weren't communicated to properly, and they thought were were already gone in the middle of our stay. We're extremely disappointed with this stay, and are lucky to have had family staying at the Hampton down the road. We spent majority of our trip at their hotel to avoid the bugs, have convenient beach access, and enjoy amenities without them being outdated.
- Casarah (2/5): - Had to call the police on other tenants, it was said that the walls are so thin in the building that this is what caused the issue. The building was in poor condition and needing updating, door sticks in laundry room.
- Lessley V (10/5): - Property included lots of activities for families - shuffleboard, table tennis and indoor pool were our favorites. Everything was clean and stocked ( pots, extra bedding) and included free laundry machines!
- Kristin (10/5): - My family and I loved the location, space and cleanliness of this property! We had an amazing vacation, and will definitely return.
- james (10/5): - Very Nice Condo it was staying in Grandpas condo from the 80 s original equipped . Everything worked well very clean and comfy You have to walk across the street to the dock to see the Sun sets. Nice property in the mix of Million dollar homes. Great Manager Very nice property
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice comfortable property with good amenities and location, recommend a stay
- Hendrickson (8/5): Wonderful view and location; the beach was incredible! - I loved the view of the sea from my balcony. It was awesome walking out on the deck at any time and hearing the ocean and feeling the sea breeze. Watched the sunrise right from the balcony. Being right on the beach now has me spoiled! The room was great...everything we needed. Excellent location. I did not like not having a washer and dryer in the unit. We had to share 3 washers and dryers with all of the folks staying with a beach view. One of the washers was down, so that made it difficult to get the laundry done. The twin bed in the 2nd bedroom was covered with what looked like a hot chocolate spill. I also was not aware that we did not have a garage. Very difficult to haul all of our luggage up the 3 flights of stairs.
- Julia (10/5): Kelsey’s mom’ birthday trip - Our trip was planned a year ago by our 6 year old granddaughter to bring her mom to the outer banks for her birthday. The place we originally rented called the day before we were to go and canceled our reservation for maintenance issues. I scrambled and found Ocean Pines Resort last minute for $300 less than the original place. I was skeptic but as always God is GOOD! Kelsey says be sure to give this place a 5star review. She (and the rest of the family) loved everything about it.
- Felisa (8/5): Very good -
- Marcos (6/5): - It was ok, after hours check in was not the best, the property itself is a bit outdated but the beach was nearby and private. Stores were kind of close and the area was pretty quiet and serene and I all other guests were very nice as well as the day staff.
- Donna (6/5): What a beautiful area too bad they have let the property go down!!! - Location was great for our plans.
- Wilhelmina (7/5): Good -
- Tyronica (10/5): Pleasant & Peaceful ! - I loved the view and the convenient access to the beach although we had to be moved because of no water and a non working tv. I enjoying the new location more !
- Daneene (1/5): Bad - Just awful. The property is terribly misrepresented on Booking.com. It is unsanitary and in desperate need of updating. The pool area was horrendous. I arrived alone after traveling for 9 hours with my children and I did not feel safe staying there.
Even the receptionist warned me upon arrival that I may be a bit disappointed and said that "it is not what people expect"
I cancelled my reservation shortly after I arrived and had a look around due to these issues, yet they went ahead and charged me over $1400 on my credit card anyway. I emailed my concerns with no response from anyone there. I informed Booking.com that they should not permit this property to even be an option on their site.
Terrible experience, terrible customer service, terrible all around.
- Anita (8/5): Very good -
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful sunset The stairs were a little much. It made it hard for my family.
