Guest Reviews
- Chris (10/5): Boutique heritage stay - Beautiful heritage property - our room was fabulous, as was the entirety of the building. Conveniently located.
- CLAIRE (10/5): -
- 535siane (10/5): A luxury hideaway in the city - Maniumpathy is a perfect location close enough to central Colombo but also a haven away from the hubbub of the city. Turning into the drive was like going back in time - arriving under the portico at the front of the building with the staff opening the door just as the car came to a stop! The cooling cloth to freshen and juice on arrival was just an indication of the fabulous indulgence we felt for our 2 night stay. The room was beautiful with a dressing area, double sink and our own little courtyard at the back. What we absolutely loved was the food! The thali was just mouth-watering, the breakfasts amazing and the cocktails at Dr Hallocks Bar were sublime! We loved that locals were also coming there to dine. This really was the height of luxury in a building with charm, character and so much history, and service of the highest standard. We would love to stay again in the future!
- buchanan1 (10/5): Good base for Colombo - Sadly we only stayed here 1 night at the end of our trip.
It is set in a residential area of Colombo.
A lovely oasis with delightful pool. We had the best room in the place with a huge 4 poster bed. Service was excellent .I was worried about road noise but that did not materialise. Restaurant is very popular with non residents .
- sued375 (10/5): I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. - Absolutely delightful in every way. Attractive colonial type building only 7 rooms in hotel. Ours was beautifully furnished with an unusual “open to the skies” bathroom arrangement which worked perfectly. The breakfasts and juices were delicious and we enjoyed Thali dinner, all served on the veranda.. There is a traditional dining room with long table which would be wonderful if you had a large party and booked all the rooms. The service was first class, each of the team was so warm, friendly and helpful.
- BowBell (10/5): Oasis in centre of Colombo - We stayed at Maniumpathy for one night at the end of our Sri Lanka trip and only wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel is a beautifully restored heritage mansion and feels much more like staying in an elegant private home than a typical hotel. With only a small number of suites, the atmosphere is calm, intimate and very relaxing – a real oasis in the middle of Colombo.
Our suite was spacious and full of character, and the courtyard pool provides a peaceful place to unwind after travelling.
Service was exceptionally warm and welcoming, and the food was very good, with Sri Lankan dishes in particular standing out.
- Katie (10/5): A relaxing, beautiful hotel with wonderful staff and food. - The character, staff and decoration. It was beautiful and the staff were impeccable. The food was wonderful. Nothing. It was amazing
- Adrian (9/5): Comfortable stay in a good location with very friendly staff - Good location, stylish architecture. Good pool. Very friendly staff. The electric switching in the bedroom needs updating. The decor and furniture in the room were dark and a bit depressing. Could really do with the kind of designers touch that some of the small- chain hotels have.
- PortolaValleyLMS (10/5): The Perfect Hotel in Colombo - Outstanding from start to finish. Great management and staff. Wonderful classic rooms in a beautiful property. Great breakfasts and dinner. Located away from the bustle of the main part of the city yet close to everything.
Loved the place and highly recommend it.
- X8032ANrichardh (10/5): Classic, quiet paradise despite being in the centre of town - We chose this small boutique hotel for our first night after flying direct from the UK. We appreciate hotels which are classy, not loud, the best quality food, friendly and super comfortable. It was all of these things and had we been staying in Colombo for more than 1 night it would be a tranquil paradise from which to explore or do what you have to do.
You won't go wrong here
- Almut (10/5): Oase inmitten von Colombo - Ruhe inmitten des Zentrums, authentische Unterkunft Nix
- Dhruv (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Colombo - Enjoyed old-world charm at this exceptionally maintained and upgraded mansion. Large, quiet, well-equipped rooms with carefully chosen toiletries, extremely warm staff, led by Amila, a good cafe/restaurant serving all types of cuisine including a great local spread. Great base for a trip around Sri Lanka.
- Dhruv (10/5): -
- W6859MOhelenp (10/5): Lovely heritage boutique hotel - Beautiful boutique heritage hotel in a central location. Lovely food and very helpful employees.
- gerrygu2016 (10/5): A lovely hotel - The Mariumpathy is a lovely hotel. It was a wondeful place to unwind after two long flights as its surroundings are so tranquil. It is a small hotel located close the city centre but it is situated in a quiet area.
Our room was colonial in style and was very comfortable.
The staff were excellent. They were very helpful all of the time.
The food is really good. I had a thali dinner which had a range of interesting curries. The breakfast was also very good and included the best scrambled egg that I have eaten in a hotel!
Our only regret was not staying longer as the hotel provided a great introduction to Sri Lanka.
Sehr freundlicher, unaufdringlicher Service.
- matthew (10/5): Perfect - Everything. The King suite surpassed any accommodation I’ve experienced by a mile. The Staff were awesome: professional, knowledgeable, caring, helpful and friendly. The food was 11/10. The building itself was luxurious with no expense spared. The pool and gardens a true delight.
I will return without hesitation. Nothing

- Benchawan “Penny” (10/5): Incredible stay - Ms. Sithmini was incredibly helpful in arranging our driver for the entire trip before we even arrived, which made our travels so much easier. The entire hotel staff were wonderful and attentive throughout our stay.
The manager was especially kind and accommodating. When my husband’s flight through Doha was canceled due to the war, he had to reroute and arrived the morning we were scheduled to check out after flying in via Turkey. The manager graciously offered us a late checkout so we could rest and regroup, which we truly appreciated.
Our suite was absolutely stunning—spacious, elegant, and beautifully designed. The claw foot tub was dreamy. The entire property is gorgeous and transports you back to colonial times with its charm and character. The bar was also a delightful surprise, wish we had more time to have drinks there.
My husband was especially impressed with the Sri Lankan breakfast—he said it was the best he has ever had. Overall, it was a memorable stay and we are very grateful for the warm hospitality. Perfect
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely colonial building. Perfect for 3 nights in Colombo. - Great location. Lovely colonial building. Perfect for 3 nights in Colombo. Nothing
- Tereza (10/5): Einfach perfekt 👌🏽 💯 - Einfach alles!
- Filip (10/5): Good stay - Beautiful place... lovely staff , great food Nothing negative to report
- lyndamY7949LD (10/5): Maniumpathy - A lovely old fashioned hotel with lots of character staff were very helpful and I really enjoyed staying here
- Stephen (10/5): A great place to stay to explore Columbo - Classical property in central location. Nothing
- Malaysia4ever (10/5): Beautiful Boutique Hotel Away From The Hustle & Bustle - Staying at Maniumpathy was a wonderful start to our first ever trip to Sri Lanka, which was situated in a quiet neighbourhood, only a short tuk-tuk ride away from the hustle and bustle of Colombo. A small Colonial-style boutique hotel with 7 rooms and a swimming pool, our suite was spacious, beautifully designed and furnished, with an outside balcony overlooking the pretty manicured gardens and pool. The bathroom not only had a shower, but there was a standalone bath, and ‘his and hers’ basins. Originally a house owned by the same family for several generations, attention to detail runs throughout the whole property, with all the reception areas feeling very homely with large comfy sofas, antique furnishings and family photographs. The outside dining area overlooks the gardens, and the food is absolutely delicious. There is a separate bar, again beautifully furnished, and the cocktails are amazing. As for the staff, what can one say - brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble, they will all stop and have a friendly chat, and they will go out of their way to fulfill any requests you may have - all done with beaming smiles on their faces. We were very sorry to leave, but would like to thank Shannon and all his lovely staff for making us feel very welcome and looking after us so well. Sending you big hugs until the next time our friends …
- Climber672127 (10/5): An oasis within Colombo - Maniumpathy Boutique Hotel is truly top-notch. The service is attentive, warm, and professional without ever feeling overbearing. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of dishes, all prepared with care.
The location is very good, yet the property feels like a peaceful retreat from the city. Our room was large, quiet, and beautifully appointed, and the setting overall is lovely. The interior courtyard pool is a real plus and adds to the feeling of calm.
An oasis within Colombo—highly recommended.
- Happiness52002025971 (10/5): An oasis of calm in a hectic city!!! - The last stop on our Sri Lankan holiday.
A superb boutique hotel. An oasis of calm set against the chaos of Colombo.
The hotel is very peaceful. Super smallish pool. Food is of a really high quality. Check out the bar.. a real throw back to colonial times.
The staff were excellent and really add to the family feel of he hotel. Would definitely recommend!!
- Sriram (10/5): -
- Swph (10/5): Fantastic boutique hotel, will be back! - We stayed for three nights with family. Absolutely loved this hotel - small, boutique hotel in the centre of Colombo with a peaceful courtyard. The service was friendly, attentive and personal. The breakfast and lunch / dinner were very tasty and good value. I travel a lot, but seldom that I feel sad to leave a hotel - definitely plan to come back!
- Anthony (10/5): Fabulously - Fabulous hotel, wonderful staff. Nothing at all
- Beat (9/5): Sehr sauberes Hotel mit schönem Innenhof, Garten und Pool - Hervorragendes Abendessen / Frühstück
- TanzaniaExpert (10/5): Wonderful - Terrific Hotel and a brilliant place for our first night in Colombo. Delightful period rooms and lounges, lovely gardens. Very relaxing, quietly efficient. Took dinner and breakfast, both delicious.
- James (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): - Wonderful staff, beautiful room and amazing breakfast
- Sabrina (9/5): A wonderful evening in this beautiful boutique hotel with a dinner and breakfast that exceeded exp - The food is simply amazing and the service impeccable. Beautiful dinner and breakfast. Try the hotel tea varieties and the freshly brewed coffee. Our stay was perfect
- Christiane (10/5): Authentisch Stil und Kultur - Ein ruhiger Ort mit hervorragendem Service
Sehr gute Ayurveda Massage und sehr gute Küche
- Inspiration732175 (10/5): Exceptional hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka - Lovely boutique hotel, very well managed. An unusual fact is that staff were excellent at every level and without exception.
We would strongly recommend this establishment.
- Karyl Dawn (10/5): A really really beautiful colonial style hotel with great food and service - An absolutely stunning old residence that has been converted into a 7 room hotel. I believe all of the rooms are facing the courtyard and pool. We only stayed one night but the staff, accommodation and food was top notch. There are mosquitoes. This was the only place after travelling for 2 weeks in Sri Lanka that we encountered them. The staff put a coil
In the outdoor bathroom, but they still managed to get into the room. Not the fault of the hotel, just nature.
- Bianca (7/5): -
- moraira (8/5): Lovely hotel, pity about the all night music - This is a really lovely heritage hotel. With fantastic bedrooms, a perfect central courtyard and pool
So why the beef. We stayed here on New Year’s Eve, enjoyed dinner with only five other guests and went to bed at 22.00. The hotel was at that stage peaceful, but soon after getting to our room, a loud band opened up under our balcony for a group of twelve who appeared out of nowhere. The noise continued till after 00.30
We had an over night flight to Europe the next day, so sleep was important to us. The hotel had not warned us of the party, and should not have taken our booking. They did not think that they had done anything wrong. The manager told us we should have known !
In other circumstances it would have been a nice hotel. But I worry about a management who should have kept this to an exclusive booking for the group, but we’re greedy in trying to push us in. If I had been given the option, I would have stayed elsewhere
- Gianpaolo (9/5): - Boutique Hotel di charme in bellissima residenza storica. Personale super gentile sempre attento ad ogni tua esigenza. Ottimo il breakfast. Ogni tanto il Wi-Fi non funziona bene
- alyse (7/5): - It was a beautiful place to stay.
- florentine (9/5): Very comfortoble stay in a historical residence - The historical vibe, family atmosphere
- RachelinNorwich (10/5): Probably the best boutique hotel in Colombo! - We absolutely loved our stay at Maniumpathy for various reasons. The room was lovely (we had booked the Ranee Suite as it had a balcony) - it was really comfortable & had good quality bedding as well as a really clean, crisp & functional bathroom. The food was delicious (we loved the Thalis and the fresh juices!) and the staff just couldn't help you enough. It was a really nice introduction to Sri Lanka as this was our first stop on a 2 week trip around the country. The hotel itself is a converted family house, and now a boutique hotel with a handful of rooms. The location is slightly out of the central area but this didn't bother us at all, as as) it meant that it was quiet and b) you are never more than a 10 min rickshaw from anything. I would highly recommend this hotel and we reckon it is probably the best place to stay in Colombo if you are looking for a boutique and top end hotel. Thank you!
- Richard (10/5): Perfect spot for a couple of nights in Colombo - Staff were super helpful. Charming rooms, great location, excellent breakfast It was all excellent. They should promote the spa facilities more
- Jill (10/5): A wonderful memory - Lovely people, fab food...some of the best mushroom soup of my life...and the room...Ooh La La! All was glorious.
- Stanislav (10/5): - One of the best hotels we've stayed in in Sri Lanka. Very polite staff and excellent room decor. Thank you for our stay
- Stephanie (8/5): Beautifully decorated oasis - We didn’t get to stay very long, but the room was very luxurious and we loved the decor! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful! The staff are all very accommodating! Also check out the Bar! Everything was great, although as we were there during a very rainy period there were some mosquitoes so a net in the bedroom would’ve been a bonus
- Shauna (8/5): - Location was good for getting to the airport for a morning flight without staying very close to the airport. Staff were lovely.
- Peter (10/5): Book it! - Beautiful property. Immaculate.
Great food, exceptional service. Nothing at all was negative.
- patrick (9/5): Gastvrij verblijf - Mooi karaktervolle accomodatie.
Zeer vriendelijk gastvrij personeel. Rustige woonwijk.
- Marta (6/5): Comfortable stay away from hustle and bustle - The courtyard setting was stunning and my bedroom and bathroom delightful. There is a wonderful colonial atmosphere throughout the hotel. The pool was long enough for a good stretch and swim. The hotel is set away from the centre but an easy tuk tuk ride into town. There are no real grounds so the main photo is a bit deceptive. The attention to detail was lacking and I had to ask for things several times.
- Jane (10/5): Perfection! - Maniumpathy Hotel imbues old world charm and British Colonial style. The hotel is open, spacious, the rooms luxurious, the staff so attentive and willing to cater to every need. The breakfast was amazing and tailor for everyone’s individual tastes and dietary requirements. I wouldn’t have expected such a tranquil peaceful environment so close to the city. This place is a gem!!! The only thing that would have improved my stay was having the freedom to stay longer!!!
- Eda (9/5): A Beautifully Curated Boutique Gem - Maniumpathy is a truly charming boutique hotel, with incredibly tasteful rooms that blend elegance, history, and comfort in the most effortless way. The atmosphere feels intimate and refined, making it a perfect place to unwind.
The service staff are exceptionally warm and attentive, always ready to help with a genuine smile. Their hospitality adds so much to the overall experience. If I were to mention one small downside, it would be that the rooms face the inner courtyard, where the restaurant is located, so it can be a little noisy at times. But overall, it’s a minor detail in an otherwise wonderful stay.
- Jonathan (9/5): -
- Antje (10/5): - Wonderful and peacefully. Heritage Hideaway you re dreaming of. Terrific Food!
- CarlaBrighton (10/5): Wonderful gem of a place - character, charm and comfort - An outstandingly well run and caring place. A family home converted into a boutique hotel with gorgeous rooms, antique furnishings, delectable shared spaces including a calming courtyard with pool. The staff are exceptionally professional; I couldn’t fault my stay.
- Dizwold (10/5): The perfect choice for a very special stay in Colombo - Fantastic boutique hotel.
We enjoyed the most wonderful stay in this beautiful hotel. We felt incredibly welcomed and very special. The service was outstanding, likewise the food, beautiful bar, spa service and great facilities. What a wonderful start to our Sri Lanka adventure. The team there are amazing and go beyond expectations to treat their guests. We will certainly recommend to friends and family.

- N9368VIsusanm (10/5): Great start to our first trip to Sri Lanka - Arrived late, but received a warm and friendly welcome. Magnificent family house, full of family photos and history.
Large comfortable room, with amazing open air bathroom.
Breakfast, was a feast ,plenty of choice and everything prepared and cooked to orders .we enjoyed a traditional mutton curry for dinner.
All of the staff were polite and friendly, nothing was to much trouble for then.
Spa massage was first class.
Our stay was only brief, but came highly recommended the Maniumpathy.
Wonderful experience. Thank you
- HasantiP (10/5): Maniumpathy dining - Maniumpathy is one of the most beautiful boutique hotels in Colombo, however we didn't visit to stay. We visited on two occasions: once for afternoon high tea with my sister, mum and a friend and a second time to host lunch for close family friends.
The high tea needs to be pre-ordered so we were glad we called earlier to make a booking. If you're wondering how many to order, 1 platter is ample for 2 people.
The staff are very attentive and offered lovely refreshments on arrival. We selected a passionfruit beverage which was delicious.
There is also a tea menu and the Maniumpathy blend is delicious and my favourite.
The high tea platter comes complete with hot and cold canapes featuring puff pastries and cucumber sandwiches. There is also a selection of cakes and of course, light and fluffy scones with cream and jam.
It was a wonderful experience to be enjoyed outside on the terrace overlooking the grounds and pool with a cool breeze.
Definitely recommended for all high tea enthusiasts.
Our lunch experience was equally enjoyable and we made a booking for the Jaffna thali lunch. We were not disappointed. The Jaffna thali comes with an array of delicious dishes including a choice of chicken, mutton, crab or mustard fish as well as an array of vegetables and rasam.
On of our guests ordered the crab and she enjoyed every last claw and leg and kept apologising for taking so long to eat but she was enjoying her crab SO VERY MUCH!
The thali also comes complete with dessert so you don't need to worry about wondering what to have. A delicious local treat ends the meal.
We truly enjoyed our culinary experiences at Maniumpathy and we will definitly be back. It's the perfect location and surrounding for a stylish and very elegant dining experience.
The staff are very professional and attentive, offering us their suggestions.
Highly recommended for an afternoon treat or a great lunch or dinner venue.

- 653meretej (10/5): The kindness and hospitality is outstanding - We recently stayed at this lovely boutique hotel and was completely blown away by the warmth and kindness of the staff. From the moment we arrived, the manager and the entire team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
The hotel itself was cozy and beautifully decorated, with attention to detail in every corner. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a charming,
What stood out the most, however, was the genuine hospitality. If you’re looking for a place with fantastic service, a friendly atmosphere, and a homely vibe, we couldn’t recommend this hotel enough!

- Sherpa22256733550 (10/5): Event hosted at Maniumpathy - Maniumpathy was where my fiancé and I chose to have our registration ceremony. I was in contact with Koshita to organise the event from the start. The space is so perfect for a mini event, and the vibe/ architecture reflect Sri Lankan culture quite well. The food and the service was excellent at the event. The staff was very nice. Everything from planning to the special day was done well with help from Koshita. Definitely will recommend.
