- Darren (1/5): Bad - The hotel did not warn me that they had closed and cancelled my reservation and charged me for my stay after they had officially shut down for maintenance. I only found out my reservation was cancelled after travelling to the country and getting to the hotel door. They blamed booking.com who said they were not advised either. I emailed customer service a month ago and recieved no reply.

Rang the bell and a girl in jeans appeared and told us booking.com were 100% responsible to advise us and they had/took NO responsibility - including no offer of help to find accommodation. I tried numerous times to contact booking.com with NO information on your app of even HOW to do this. We were stranded with very little funds and I am considering small claims court. Will NEVER use your service again. Please respond and refund my money immediately! See above

No thought or consideration for their booked and paid event, no explanation , no decency to speak to them. APPALLING especially as they are still advertising availability to book for tonight.

- David (6/5): - Room was fine albeit very squeaky floor boards, was a good size and had a sea view. Very low water pressure so shower not the best. You check in at the bar in the pub. We didn’t see anyone at reception during our stay, just a sign sending you to the bar. We only had one towel for the entire stay, room not made up at any point and by the time we returned on the second night the pub was closed so we couldn’t request one. We didn’t use the restaurant as the pub was empty most of the time and not somewhere we wanted to eat. The soap in the bathroom was in small plastic bottle in a wall mounted dispenser, didn’t look refillable and were made in Holland! Not eco friendly for such a large pub group. Not sure where the four star rating comes from!
- Anonymous (1/5): Non existent as I told I didn't have a booking - I didn't like is when I got there I got told the place was closed for maintenance and not received any communication to say my booking had been cancelled. My husband is disabled (MS) and one of his symptoms is urgency to use the loo and had to wait so someone could check if he could use thd toilet even though he showed his ms card. I was lucky my toddler daughter was asleep. The only good thing they told me was the place of the hotel we could go too, lucky for us they had a family room.
- Juliet (5/5): Great stay cut short - The location, staff and building were amazing; had a beautiful room with stunning sea views. Unfortunately, there was a problem at the hotel, and we received a note on our first night that the hotel was being closed the next morning, and we had to vacate. The staff were fantastic in helping arrange replacement accommodation for the rest of our stay.

Poor communication from the hotel and booking as we had travelled and didn't find out until we got there. There was no offer of alternative accommodation so I had to sort that out with no guarantee of a refund. Pretty poor all round.

First night a bit slow and dinner was Luke warm but the second night the food was excellent. Beautiful views of the bay and sea. Very close to the sea, literally across the road. It was very clean. It was a bit shabby. The rooms needed and corridors need an upgrade they were a bit old and tired.

- Susan (10/5): An excellent choice and I will certainly stay there again. - Loved the location. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good. Buffet style. Other options available on request. Fresh fruit salad and prunes. Only had dinner there one night but it was excellent. My colleagues ate in the restaurant four evenings and they were impressed with the meals. The staff were helpful with the Stannah stair lift and luggage. A good car park but I didn’t come by car. Airport Flyer bus from Bristol cheap and reliable. Good connections by train too. Personally I thought it excellent however the only access for guests with mobility aids and wheelchairs is up a Stannah type stair lift (about 6 or 7 steps). There is a revolving door and a side door which opens fully once up the steps. The staff help with this. They also take luggage up and down for people who need it.

Paint peeling off walls, window frames with mould around, thick dust on skirting boards and room door with handles hanging off. All corridor room doors scuffed and paint badly chipped. Windows look like they have never been cleaned along with the revolving front door which looks filthy. No information in the room regarding the hotel plus no house phone ! Towels were ok along with the bedding. Glad to be going home.

- Katerina (1/5): The receptionist ripped us off for 130 pounds. - Good breakfast and great locatin No air conditioning and the window can only be opened 5 cm, so the room is very warm even in May. Room, wall and carpets need renovation. The television was no more than 20 years old, max 10x10😆and couldn't even stand up straight. Be careful when booking and paying for parking at reception. We paid £10 per night but a few weeks later we were fined for unpaid parking. So we paid £144 for the stay, £10 for parking and £120 for a fine for this old, grumpy hotel, very nice and this hotel is definitely not worth £274, it is not a Hilton......... and of course the hotel not answer message or email or help with the fine

- tmr45 (10/5): Fantastic weekend stay at The Grand Atlantic hotel - Location, location, location….this hotel is perfectly positioned to enjoy the panoramic sea views, the visit fantastic tourist attraction of the Pier & have a ride on the big wheel. All restaurants, bars and town/high street are nearby with the huge promenade across the road from this iconic hotel. So making access to everything, safe. This is not a tacky seaside town as the wonderful architecture of buildings retains its original grace and elegance. Had a fantastic weekend and everything on the doorstep.

No Entertainment for such a large hotel on weekends was disappointing , also the bar was limited on what they had to offer - No Guinness - No Stella , had to settle for a beer. Door to our room was very unsafe - one nudge and it would fly open . On a better note the Breakfast was ok .

- Traveller (5/5): Lovely to see what a fab place this would have been in its heyday - The history of the place is alluring. Breakfast was good. Very tired. Needs alot spent on it to bring it up to modern standards which is such a shame. Also The corridor outside of our room absolutely stunk of weed all weekend.

- Jordan (10/5): Would definitely stay again! - A beautiful building with a calm, welcoming atmosphere. All of the staff were polite and helpful. The room was a comfortable temperature with an incredibly comfortable bed. The shower and bathroom was a nice size with the room being clean and tidy. Checking and out was a breeze. The location is perfect. The beach is across the street with the high street and bars/restaurants within a 2-3 minute walking distance. As we don't drive it was helpful that the train station was only a few minutes walk from the venue.

The fire escape instructions missing from the back of the room door. Remnants of the sticky tape left. Mould on window and the waste paper bin had been left full of rubbish from last guest. Security chain and window handle of window broken Had a musty smell
