Guest Reviews
- Jet50401908026 (10/5): Delicious lavish meals - The room was clean and newly renovated. Food was delicious and plentiful! The scenery and view are stunning! Owner was super nice and accommodating! We really enjoyed every minute of our stay!
A really nice kosher option for those looking for a nice, countryside experience. The food was great and the atmosphere was nice. Tannersville is a scenic town with mountains and country roads. It's very nice to have a kosher stay in such an area!
- davidbM5701TD (10/5): Kosher Skiing - We just return from a ski trip to Hunter Mountain and stayed at the Melour Resort. As a modern orthodox family we usually bring our own food when skiing. BUT, no more. We found this fantastic resort near the mountain with fabulous kosher food (the kids are still raving over the chicken), and wonderful accommodations. Pool, hot tub, saunas (co ed and separate male/female saunas). Activities and play rooms for kids and multiple dinning rooms. A great overall experience. We will definitely be back again.
- Melissa (2/5): scam hotel - Never answered any calls or emails. Website says they were out of business and unavailable for my stay on that date after already booking, tried calling and emailing to confirm my reservation numerous times with no answer so I assumed they were no longer open. They charged my card at 11pm on the day of checkin (hours after my last email to them) assuming they saw this finally. Hasn’t responded to any sort of accommodation change for a later date or credit.
- N231YVbettyf (10/5): Recent stay at Melour Resort - We recently spent an extended weekend in the Melour Resort. The room was beautifully redone, spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We had a large balcony with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Food and service was exceptional and we are looking forward to coming back again.
- 928idym (10/5): Hotel stay - Very clean place and family friendly. The indoor playroom tops it off. The pool is immaculate and a lot of fun. We enjoyed the outdoor playground and fire pit. Front desk was very friendly and accommodated all requests during the stay.
- kimberlybK2009NF (10/5): A great family place to stay - The hotel was immaculate! The food was nicely presented and delectable! The staff was very nice! The view was incredible! This is a great place for a family trip. The rooms were very nice and clean! They were spacious with a cozy feel to them. The bathrooms were all redone in a modern style.
- Eli (10/5): - Service was good nice people love the art display from leviim gallery
- Chaim (10/5): - Beautiful lobby. Great pool and hot tub. Management is super attentive. Kids friendly and great kosher food options. Right near Hunter mountain skiing.
- manshu (2/5): - The place is dirty. One of the bedsheet stains blood on it :(
- Maria (10/5): - Great hotel, especially if you have kids. There is a huge play room and pool. The beds were really comfortable. Carpets need updating. Friendly staff.
- Daniela (4/5): - Run down or in a state of unfinished disrepair, hard to say. Electrical sockets coming away from the wall, holes in the ceiling, buckled floors, water damage. The pool area looked ok, but the hot tub was cold (“Someone hadn’t plugged it in”). Hair dryer in the room had exposed wires, and the pump in the toilet tank needed attention. You get the picture. This is a pretty basic place, and way overpriced, especially mid-week. Just a couple of minutes’ drive to the mountain. And it wasn’t dirty. But that’s about it.
- Yeshia (10/5): - We really loved our stay, the feel is very cozy and warm.
Awesome for that after ski mode.
They've also got ski gear for rent.
Beautiful views! Definitely recommended!
- Karen (4/5): Fraudulent Charges - Our stay here was ok. We did not realize the restaurant and bar would not be open. The common area with fireplace was designated a quiet area with no children talking or eating or moving of chairs. The man at the desk was pleasant when we checked in and billed us for the amount we booked for through Hotels.com. Upon check out no one was at reception but we called the phone number listed and they instructed us to leave our key which we did. Upon getting home we looked at our bank account and saw they charged an additional $216 to our credit card. We used this hotel purely to sleep and authorized no additional charges. We have made several phone calls but the person who answers says they're waiting for management to get back to them. We have made multiple calls over multiple days and no answer or refund. We are now forced to dispute this charge with our bank.
The hotel wasn't as we envisioned from it's online description. However we would have been ok with it had they not decided to charge our card fraudulently. You'd be best served to stay away from this establishment. I will update this review if we ever get a response to our phone calls.
- Rivka (10/5): - Beautiful rooms. Great views. Food was great. And owners are very caring. It's a family owned property, so they are very involved and available.
- Shawn (4/5): - Rooms are not the comfortable and staff is creepy.
- Dustin (10/5): - Our 2 night stay was a good experience. My wife loved that the room was meticulously clean, fresh white linen and very comfortable matresses. We enjoyed the pool, hot-tub and sauna. The staff were very friendly and courteous. They eveb have a Ski Rental on premises. Staff also assisted us in finding great dining in town. We will definitely return again to ski.
- jsrh20 (10/5): Great kosher place to stay at - check in was quick, front desk agent was very nice and helpful with information on surrounding attractions, room was in main building, nice and clean with newly renovated bathroom, food was delicious.
- 177tzvik (10/5): perfect for my wife and I. - My wife and I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights at the end of June 2022. Our room was in the main building. We were very happy. The secretaries at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. At night we were served restaurant style the only negative was there was no menu. Breakfast and lunch were buffet style with multiple choices. The rooms were large and clean. This is an old hotel, and the new management is fixing it over. We were actually pleasantly surprised that the room we had did not have that old, stale, musty smell. The hotel is walking distance to the town of Tannersville where there is small kosher supermarket and pizza shop. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
- TolnvinityAndBeyond (10/5): Perfect For Us! - My wife and I stayed at this hotel the other week (Tuesday night thru Thursday morning and would have to go out of our way to find something negative to put. The hotel was not busy so we had the opportunity to enjoy all of the features. We skied Tuesday during the day so the hot tub, heated pool, and saunas were just what our bodies needed. The restaurant was closed so we went into town where there was no shortage of options.
The next day we decided not to ski (conditions Tuesday were not great) and instead explored the area. The town of Tannersville & Hunter are cute areas, lots of locally owned small businesses. When we cam back we swam some more. My wife is a mermaid so to have access to a heated indoor pool when it is under 30 degrees outside is such a huge plus for us and really made her stay. We played some arcade games in their play room (was a little chilly up there). The restaurant was also closed Wednesday night but they directed us to Jessie's Harvest House which was amazing.
No breakfast in the morning (they had yogurt, pre-wrapped muffins, & coffee available 24/7) was ok for us, we aren't huge breakfast people anyway but discovered the deli next to them makes a really good breakfast sandwich.
Overall, we had a great stay and will be returning the next time we ski Hunter
- Moshe (10/5): - The management are super friendly and caring. The kosher food options are incredible. The hotel has great views of the mountains. And there is a large grocery next door if you need anything. Highly recommend.
- george (2/5): - DIRTTTYYYYY! Im no stranger to cheap hotels to just get some shut eye but this place is grime. Dirty used tissues and old socks were laying next the bed when we walked in.
- Nick (6/5): - They charged me $163 on top of what I was already charged by you guys. I'm pissed. Now I gotta call credit card companies and be inconvenienced. I'm not happy with either of you guys for making the transition. This I supposed to be quick and easy. I stood at the front desk for 30 mins while they tried to figure it out too. Never again
- nakyung (2/5): - Room 61 had no toilet paper, one of two lights in the room didn’t work, the headboard had been ripped out and the sheetrock had screw holes and damage which was never fixed or painted. Let’s also talk about the disgusting rugs in the hallways where overhead light was out like a creepy horror movie. Storage rooms and reception office doors remain ajar to plainly exhibit the pigsty conditions the management jeeps. Never again.
- Victoria (2/5): - The towels were disgusting and stained, the furniture was broken upon arrival, there was improper bedding that did not cover the mattress, the shower temperature gauge was broken, and last but not least the room was DIRTY. There were remnants of food under the furniture that had not been cleaned and dirt everywhere. The photos and descriptions on your site did not match the property we stayed at whatsoever.
- Kevin (2/5): - Check-in was fine. I was made aware ahead of booking that there was a private party staying so I knew certain amenities such as the pool and restaurant would be unavailable to me, which I agreed to. When I got to my room however, the television didn't work and I noticed there wasn't even a cable wire for it. When I flushed the toilet, it continued to run for approximately 10 minutes. I was able to stop it because I know how to fix a toilet, but it the part still needs to be replaced. Additionally, the power outlet behind the nightstand was falling out of the wall and only one of the two outlets worked. The whole room was very dated which is fine, but it should at least be functional. The only reason that I tolerated any of this is because I was by myself and only needed a bed and a bathroom in between ski days. If you are expecting anything other than that, I suggest booking elsewhere.
- Amy (6/5): It’s an experience! - The location was pretty convenient to nearby mountains and attractions. The rooms are outdated, different areas of the property look abandoned, others look like some updates are being made so may get better. Overall pretty expensive for what you get. Beware of the chlorine levels in the hot tub and pool. Silver jewelry that I have worn for years in pools and hot tubs never reacted in the way the Melour water tarnished and caused some permanent damage. Not to mention the pigment being removed from swimsuits!!!
- Alexandra (10/5): - It is a great location , just 8 minutes of driving from Hunter Mountain. It has a nice pool, hot tub, and few saunas. It is the perfect place to stay after you spend whole day on the mountain when you really need a good relaxing hours after your skiing time. I booked my room for weekdays , so it was pretty quiet, not busy at the pool area and clean.
- Elliott (6/5): - Thu is was a strange hotel stay. The room itself was spacious and clean, but obviously old. The beds were uncomfortable, sheets were too small and slid all over the place. The guy at the reception was very friendly and have a good tip for dining, but he was the ONLY employee we saw during the entire stay. The place has great potential but has not been kept up and is obviously not being managed.
- FionaMcAleer (2/5): Disgusting! - What a dump. A stomach turning smell, dirty floors, dirty public restrooms. Urine in seats and floors! Dust on bedroom fixtures that you could write your name. Linens with holes and creased. Water dripping through vents into the swimming pool water. This place should be closed down.
Function rooms looked as if a bomb hit it. Mice droppings in corners. !!!
- bethanimal (6/5): Overpriced for the condition of this hotel - The 10 photos on their site look great. The reality is this is the quirkiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in, which honestly was part of it’s charm. This hotel is over priced at $200/night. Uncomfortable beds, outdated bathrooms, and my bedding was low quality and dirty, and had hair in it, as did our bathroom floor. Dog kibble still on the carpet from a prior guest. Moldy stained shower curtain in the women’s locker room. On the bright side, we really enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and fireplace after skiing. I don’t want to make this place sound awful, but just be aware it is far from the “resort” you might be picturing in your head after viewing the website photos.
- 728nicolac (6/5): Clean and comfortable. - This was my first time skiing at Hunter Mountain and we stayed at the Melour resort. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Place was clean and comfortable. I do believe they are in the midst of changing management, as some parts had been redecorated and some parts hadn't. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The indoor pool, hot tub and sauna were wonderful and thats what encouraged me to stay, as after a days skiing, these amenities are great! I hope they come up with a good plan for renovating the rest of the resort as that would make the place much better! Location was excellent to the mountain and restaurants.
- Liquid114 (10/5): Still the Best Place to Stay near Hunter Mountain - My family and I have been coming up here for years and this place will still be our # 1 choice of places to stay in Hunter.
Melour resort is the new name for the Villa Vosilla. One of the only surviving old school Catskills hotels.
This there are new owners, with a new name, and modern decor. I must say that I feel the same level of hospitality and care as the former owners gave to their guests. The staff really respects the fact that many of their customers have been coming here for years.
The main building has a really clean modern look with updated rooms, and our favorite new addition to the place is the new coffee bar near the play area. We still like staying in the side building, mainly because of the view of the playground, the square footage of the rooms, and vaulted ceilings.
Another thing that sticks out is the improved Wi-Fi and TV reception. Big difference from the past. And as always the place is super clean and well taken care of. You also have tops supermarket within walking distance. And with a 3 mile drive to the mountain, you have the perfect amount of time to wake up and finish your coffee.
Enjoy. Andrea and Kenny Graham
- SITravels56 (10/5): Memories - Wow, just read it was sold from before I was born until 20 years old I went to this resort, my parents went for almost 40 of the 58 years . So sad but I understand. When it is done being renovated and re opens I actually would like to go up their now with my kids and spend a weekend and go to Hunter mountain. Just wow
- tracydK8762CG (4/5): Disappointed and ignored - Rate 400.00 for 2 nights. Expensive for outdated place. We had no hot water and had to go out to dinner after 2 days skiing without showers. They refunded only 25 per night. Management unavailable to discuss after NUMEROUS attempts to reach out before writing this.
- Skyewyatt (6/5): Overpriced - Outdated. Stated it was a boutique hotel, it has not been updated since the 70’s/80’s. Charged about $200 per night on a weekend, it should have been less than $100. Carpet, furniture, bathrooms old. No coffee in room. Bed uncomfortable. No one on duty at night, people screaming and fighting screaming eff -you outside my balcony. The restaurant was nice, food, service and drinks were good. Charge less, get better beds and better locks on the door.
- sanscott (10/5): A great getaway - The area is beautiful. The hotel 60s style modernized. Loved the pool. There is an indoor one and an outdoor one. The restaurant is upscale. There are a lot of things to do on site. A great place for the family. The village of Tannersville is called "The Painted Village in the Sky,"
- Rob4Fran (10/5): Wonderful and relaxing getaway with amazing service - My boyfriend and I wanted to get away from the city for a long weekend. My mother suggested Villa Vosilla. We loved how nice and friendly everyone was. The room was clean and neat with old style flare. There are no words to describe how amazing the restaurant, Ladoria but we will try..... the service was fantastic, the food is just how my mom and grandmother used to make, well better and it was just so nice when the chef took the time out to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. If want to have a quick get away with great food and service, this is the place to go to. FYI, we got the package with meals included and also with the Covid situation the staff and accommodations made us safe with them following all the state's precautions!
- Nyctravele (10/5): Lovely place for a getaway - Villa Vosilla has an amazing outdoor pool and indoor pool/spa. It is conveniently located near major trails and attractions. You can walk to main street in minutes! The staff was very nice and everything was sparkling clean-they made us feel comfortable despite the times we are living in. Stay here to support a family business that takes pride in what they do!
- 879deanna (4/5): Over priced - The hotel itself has great amenities, but the rooms are extremely out dated, television does not turn on, a few of our towels had stains on them, and the closet and shower door do not close properly. The food at the restaurant was pretty good, and the chef and servers are lovely, along with the concierge, but I am disappointed with my stay here. I would much rather have paid half the amount I paid to stay at Villa Vosilla at a motel nearby.
- carochacha (10/5): Visit to Hunter, great stay - We didn't want to spend a lot on a ski wknd so opted for this hotel just down the street from Hunter. TBH it was unexpectedly great. Our toddler loved the pool, and we had some really good food in the hotel restaurant where service was great. We also paid an extra $3 per person to have the breakfast included and it was an excellent breakfast. They were packed but still did a great job bringing out the really good food. Next time we head back to Hunter we're going to stay here again so we can check out the game room and eat there again.
