Guest Reviews
- Valeria (2/5): - Wry nice property and location but service is terrible, AC did not wrk throughout the whole stay and weather was in the 80’s. There was no one to solve it.
Rooms had no blinds, so it was really hard to sleep with the street light coming in at ningun and the sun in the morning. Everybody at the property pretended it was a very normal thing not to have shutters in a 4 star apartment!! When I requested a later check in or checkout if available, they tried to charge me the equivalent to a one night stay for one extra hour either for check in or check out, plus I had no place to leave my luggage while I waited. In summary, one of the worst services I have ever experienced!!
- Nicole (8/5): great experience - It was a great stay in a nice location with a lot of amenities within walking distance.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Modern, clean, loud - Beautiful, clean, and spacious. Only complaint: loud--right across from hospital so ambulances all day/night and then extremely loud music from neighbors starting very early in the morning.
- Kim (8/5): Great but previous guest left something behind! - Great facility. Was not able to access the rooftop terrace and pool.
The room was clean but had a strange odour which was covered up by a bleach disinfectant, we had to open all the doors to the balcony to be able to breathe!
I understood from the management company that someone was in the room before us so we could not get an early check in AND we could not get a late checkout because the concierge is independent of the management company. However when it came to checking out the instructions were ‘DO NOT Leave keys with concierge as it will be deemed you have not checked out’ so I have no idea why they came up with the excuse of not being able to give us a late checkout.
On the whole a great facility but not good for short stays if you plan on site seeing because there’s no place to leave your luggage before or after checkin checkout
- KELLIE (10/5): Geat location, clean, convenient - Great location. Apartment was clean and convenient. Just bring your toothbrush, everything else is provided. I would recommend investing in softer bath towels and a more comfortable bed (just my opinion). Also, parking instructions should be explained before arriving. It was TRICKY to find but once we figured it out, it was a breeze.
- Michele C. (10/5): RIGHT ON TIME AND AWESOME - First the itenary came via e-mail right as promised, exactly 24hrs. before check in. The concierges were polite and accommodating. Very clean !! Nice neighborhood with Whole Foods right downstairs . I will be back for sure !! Thank you !!
- Maria (6/5): Not a Hotel - This is not a hotel. It's an apartment building where people live and is set up like a corporate run Air BnB. If that's up your alley the apartment was clean and safe, but the bed was very hard.
- GK (8/5): - Location was great. Apartment was very nice size. Check in went fast.
I didn't like that the water in the shower didn't drain properly, the water and ice dispenser on the refrigerator didn't work and also the check out was poorly communicated so I had to call the emergency line to get the move out instructions.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I really liked the properties location. It was in close proximity to a lot of different things.
- Mike (10/5): - really nice place
- Eric (6/5): Apartment Building - Not a hotel, an apartment building where there are some corporate suites. No maid service so you are on your own. Nice gym - but you are in an apartment building so be prepared to go to the store if you need more soap, or toilet paper or any supplies and you need to change your own sheets an make your own bed (they did supply some clean sheets in the closet).
- Juan-Pablo (8/5): - Well located, next to a Whole Foods, and perfect for my needs during those days. The check out experience was a bit archaic, having to leave a message and never gotten confirmation of successful check out. One of the two sets of keys did not match the apartment. I think communication via email or text could be much improved.
- Ulf (8/5): - great stay and nice apartments
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location was excellent. A Whole Foods market was right next door which was very convenient. Many nice restaurants close by as well. Apartment was quiet and comfortable.
- Christian (8/5): - A little bit noisy due to near de GWU Hospital but is ok.
Close to many places
- Marge (4/5): Not happy - This is an apartment-not a hotel. It is in a building that also houses college students. It was Halloween weekend with parties, etc. Noisy busy hallways. We were misled on your website. Also assessed a $100 cleaning fee once it was booked. This was not adequately disclosed on website. Won't be staying here again. Mattress on bed was beyond uncomfortable. Towels were inadequate; toiletries too. Expected us to remove all trash/recyclables and clean unit-even though we paid a "cleaning fee". Not really sure this type of unit belongs on hotels.com
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The TV didn't work along with other issues in the apartment. The concierge staff was very kind.
- Joan (6/5): - LIKED: This property is perfectly located for my needs. Its secured, modern, clean, location is perfect for grocery shopping, restaurants, metro and walkable to sites.
DISLIKED: The room I was assigned #218. It's the NOISIEST room to have. I read on several reviews that this floor is the noisiest floor and requested from Management to be assigned another floor and was assigned a room on the 6th floor, but the day before checking in, I rec'd an email stating that I was assigned room 218...I was upset and called them to clarify. They said "sorry, we don't have another room for you"!
It is so unfortunate because I visit my daughter twice a year and this property is close to her dorm, which we both like. This was my second stay at this property and was happy about my first stay.
- Andrea (8/5): - Great location, space, amenities. Rooftop pool was nice.
Apt itself was not terribly clean, tub was dirty, mold in bathroom. Drains were slow and shower curtain had mildew. Lightbulbs needed.
Nice to have dishwasher, laundry in apt. Very close proximity to grocery, restaurants, public transportation.
- prasad (2/5): Worse than motel - we reserved this property looking at pics for our Washington DC vacation..
Good things:
1. Location
2. Reception staff
3. Reservations staff
Bad part:
1. Beds - made lot of noise and horrible quality
2. Mosquitoes
3. AC right onto face in bedroom.
4. Garage stinky smell
5. Dogs barking at neighbors
6. Accommodation was provided at level 2 which is next to ramp or walkway. Very noisy
Overall not worth of money and not as published on site. Poor quality than motel. Entire vacation was spoiled.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Strong smell of cigarette smoke in the room that never went away , ( we don’t smoke and never have). The parking key to the garage wasn’t in our packet when we arrived. The front desk person gave us a spare parking key that didn’t work and because of this a line of cars that were behind ours couldn’t get into the parking garage until a parking attendant came out so we could leave the garage. We had to pay for street parking although we paid in advance to be able to park in the garage until a key that worked was found. We will never stay here again! Nice idea but doesn’t work especially if the rooms smell like cigarette smoke and people don’t do their jobs to ensure that when you pay for something like a garage key that it is in the packet with your hotel keys and that it works. Terrible welcome after a 9.5 hour drive.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not terrible, but not great for the price - Dirty washcloth left in sink; beds are hard and very squeaky; hair in coffee mug and on beds; not enough towels, had to rewash each night; no keys upon checkin, got them on day 2; pool closes at 8
- Sara B. (10/5): Spacious for a Studio, Great Location - I stayed here for a business trip and it was a perfect location, safe and secure building and great space (for a studio)! I would highly recommend it!
- Allison S. (10/5): Nice stay - The apartment was great, spacious and clean, just as advertised. The neighborhood was also great for walking around. We had a nice stay.
- Lili (8/5): - Great location and building amenities. However, the bed was extremely uncomfortable and the bed made a sound every time you moved a little bit.
- Dikran (6/5): - Room smelled like cigarette smoke and the floor wasn’t very clean.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - It seemed like a nice choice, until I had multiple people come into the room, without notice. Which is very confusing since there is no room service or daily cleaning! Also, after leaving, I was told that the keys were missing, and when I contacted them via email and phone, I never got an answer, response or update. Room Quality was decent, location was quite, but stores and restaurants within a close walking distance closed very early. Overall, very disappointed due to the service. Always had a fear that I would come back to the room and all of my stuff would be missing.
- The B. (8/5): We would stay here again. - Excellent location near the metro and next door to Whole Foods. Friendly concierge staff. Beautiful, modern common areas in the building with access to amenities like workout facility and sleek lounge with pool table. Nicely equipped with everything we needed for a family of 5. Kitchen, laundry etc. Is right In the heart of the city so there is a lack of privacy from windows - but this is easily remedied with tasteful blinds that still let the light in. We did not have any noise issues although another review mentioned ambulance noise so I was expecting it. It is close to the hospital so made since. Stilll. We had no issues with noise. Slept well. It was quiet.
- Joan (10/5): Better than a Hotel! - I rented this Apartment/Hotel through Expedia because when I visit my daughter who is attending GWU I like a suite with a kitchen so I can cook for her. While I was searching for an apartment this apartment showed up and I loved it from the start. The pictures in and out of apartment were true at best. It's modern and very secured. It has everything you may need in the kitchen and the BEST part is that it had a laundry room in the apartment! The view is wonderful, the bed comfortable and the whole suite was spacious and beautiful. The bathroom was big and the walk in closet was a bonus. Just about everything in the Suite was perfect for me. The concierge are very friendly and helpful.
The ONLY CON: Check in time was for 4pm, my flight arrived at 12pm and was told the Hotel does not store your baggage so I had to leave it at my daughters dorm (which was not a big deal). By 4pm we walked to the hotel with bags in tow. As we were waiting in the lobby for check in time, I received a call from Global Luxury that the room will not be ready until 6pm. The previous renter left late and they couldn't get the room clean in time for my check in time. By then I was annoyed! I was already tired from flying in from Hawaii and had to wait longer...they said they will compensate me somehow, but I'm still waiting for a response from them.
Overall, I would still recommend this hotel and will return when in DC. My set back was a minor one.
- carol (8/5): Uncomfortable apt.. - The bed was very uncomfortable, super cheap/cheesy bedding. And there was virtually no air flow in the sleeping area. It was spotless. We have stayed in this building before and just live it. It is top notch. But this particular apt was awkward, uncomfortable bed and bedding. Our backs were aching from the bed. H couch was decent and new. The whole layout was weird. Not ugly, just poor architecture.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Within walking distance - The apartment was missing some cooking utensils and could have some better cookware but overall was very nice, clean and comfortable. Within walking distance to all of the government buildings and museums. Had a Wholefoods next door of which was very convenient and also the metro subway was within a block. Had a great time .
- Mike (6/5): - The apartment was fine and in a nice location. What started off as affordable as a lot of extra fees got tacked on that weren't obvious when booking. The company seemed to be nagging. We were all laughing because it seemed like every communication ended with 'or you will be charged extra.' Just a negative slant on everything.
- Ralph (4/5): Cleaning Fee Rip-Off - This property is very comfortable and convenient. However, I get really annoyed at being nickel-and-dimed by hotels that charge extra "fees" for services that should be included in the base price, such as the "cleaning fee" charged by this property. Don't all hotels clean their rooms after each stay? Why should they charge an extra fee for something that's always done.
- Jonna (10/5): Great place! - Excellent location, very clean, exactly what I was looking for! Great for business or family vacation! Restaurants right there, a wholefoods store, shopping near by! Walk to metro !
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic 2 BR in Foggy Bottom - We rented this apartment for a four-day family trip to DC. The building is absolutely gorgeous and newly renovated with a Whole Foods on the ground floor next door. The Foggy Bottom Metro is across the street. We had a rental car for day-trips and the parking was easy and underground. The apartment has tons of light and great view.
- Michelle (8/5): Perfect location in Foggy Bottom - Whole foods on the street level, metro stop across the street, delightful accommodations. Plenty of towels and blankets, we wre able to have an at home experience away from home. Our unit had stunning views with plenty of windows. we also liked the way the unit was laid out with the bedrooms in separate "wings."
The workout and yoga rooms were beautiful and fully equipped and the club room was lots of fun, though the tips on the pool cues need replacing. This place is perfect for a weekend getaway or a long-term stay. It works for business professionals or families. I am going to book this place again for sure.
- Ofelia L. (10/5): Wonderful apartment - It was spacious and convenient to GWU. The only problem was the incessant noise of the ambulance sirens from GW hospital right next door. Maybe on the other side of the building it would be quieter. Otherwise, it is perfect for a visit to the city and convenient to the Metro and shopping.
- Verified traveler (4/5): great location undermined by terrible management - The apartment building that also serves as a corporate extended stay lodging is in a perfect location with nice amenities. Unfortunately this nearly perfect setup is ruined by terrible management and ranks as one of the worse stays I have ever had. The hotel management switched my assigned apartment at the last minute so there was endless confusion with the corporate headquarters regarding my apartment. This became a major problem because my apartment was not prepared for arrival and the service crew was sent to the wrong apt . I was given an apartment with NO HOTWATER, burnt out lights, janitorial equipment stored in the hall closet and a broken microwave vent covers on the kitchen counter. I had to wash my hair using water I heated on the stove for the first two days. The furnished apt. had no blackout curtains or dishcloths and a horrible bed, couch and chair. I woke up every morning in agony, the bed was so bad. Don't let the pictures fool you.
- Steve (8/5): Perfect location - Excellent building - First time visitor to a "corporate apartment". Different procedures for checking in and out vs. a "regular" hotel. Spacious, comfortable and well equipped apartment with outdoor balcony, roof top pool and other amenities. Perfect location for visits to Geo. Wash. Univ.
The only problem I experienced was a non-functioning TV in the bedroom. A call to a "customer service" representative yielded no response for over 24 hours after I called it in and I checked out before the problem was addressed. I recommended that checking the operation of TVs, clock radios, and other appliances be part of the process of preparing a room for a customer.
I will recommend Luxury Suites at Foggy Bottom and stay there again on a subsequent visit to DC.
- Alicia (8/5): Homey Condo - Located right next to whole foods which was a huge plus. Had to buy laundry detergent and dryer sheets as well as dishwasher soap. This particular location (Washington DC at Foggybottom) is right next to the hospital and you can hear ambulances come in all night. The condo itself was nice and clean but not new if that's what your looking for. The lady that checked us in was more annoyed than friendly, but the guy who checked us out was great and held our luggage for a few hours since we had to wait for a plane after check out. It isn't easy to get assistance for maintenance with this company, we needed help with the washer and the amount of time on the phone totaled about 30 minutes over three phone calls. And they responded about 14 hours after our original call. The beds were cozy though.
- Eric (10/5): - Everything was great except the check in. There was some confusion on if we had a room but they cleared it up after 10 minutes or so. Good experience over all.
- Robert (10/5): Not really a hotel - It’s an apartment building, not a hotel. No daily maid service; if that matters to you, don’t stay here. One-bedroom apartment was large and comfortable. Full kitchen. Very nice place, just be sure to empty the trash and wash the dishes and empty the fridge before you leave to avoid extra fees.
- Marilyn (8/5): Excellent location - Great property, GREAT location! However, this is not a hotel - so don't expect any housekeeping or services. The property and its amenities absolutely make-up for the inconvenience of returning the unit exactly as you found it.
- Samantha (6/5): Convenient Hotel - The hotel location was convenient, the metro was down the block. The Whole Foods is right downstairs, which made grocery shopping easy. I was led to believe that there would be a pool available during our stay, but apparently it was only available through a for a certain time period. The room needs some renovation, overall, it was good. I wish it was a little cleaner, the hotel only provided one load of dishwasher soap. The dishes originally were extremely dirty, which we had to clean before we even cooked for sanitary reasons. The had a rug in the living room that wasn't very clean either. I am only really pleased with the location of the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location while visiting Washington DC. Grocery right next door and the Metro 1/2 a block right out your front door.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was not ready. There were on staff on-site. No extra towels. No one to provide information.
- David (10/5): Great hotel/apartment for a good price in the area - This was one of the best stays at a hotel I've ever experienced. Well, it's not really a hotel, but an apartment complex.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel close to DC sites - Nice building wonderful apartamento crear location near metro station restaurants and Walking distancie ti The mall Georgetown
- David (4/5): Never again - Horrible experience with this company. Layout and basic material were okay, but that was it. Email and voicemail to company were never returned regarding many issues.
If you wanted to sleep while the sun was up, forget it. No curtains in living room or master bedroom, just a really weak shade that were more for privacy than keeping the sun out. Had to go buy a sleep mask so I wasn't up at dawn every day. And the "premium bedding" was a joke. Beds were hard as rocks. There was no "desk," just an unlit built-in cubby without a useable desk chair. Only one of the two TV's worked - the one in the master bedroom. So if my kids wanted to watch TV, they had to do so from our room.
No "bottled water" as claimed. Just a water filter in refrigerator door that had a change filter warning light on. No housekeeping service - which isn't mentioned in ad. No soap dish in bathroom or bathtub, so when you put the soap down it stuck. Useless dishwasher and washing machine as no detergents were provided. Waste of money to buy any for a mere five day stay. And no mention that you had to clean all the dishes at the end of your stay. Which meant we washed everything we used before we used it, as who knows how good/bad a job the prior tenants cleaned things.
Not a premium experience in any way.
- Tonya (10/5): Nice apartment - The only downside is, the bedroom doors do not have a lock the can be easily opened, if you accidentally lock the door and close it. We had to wait for a maintenance person to come to our rescue.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyable stay, close to dining and the National Mall.
- Kyungmi (2/5): - Apartment was nice and building staffs were very friendly. However, we didn't have a blanket for the pull out couch on the first night and the bedroom Tv didn't work. Also the bathroom door was very creaky which disturbed our sleep. Pull out couch mattress plastic cover were not removed so we had to take them off ourselves. It felt more like moving into an apartment dealing with problems than a full service hotel. Will think twice before renting this unit in future.
- Verified traveler (2/5): worst hotel ever ! - worst experience ever! stayed for two nights, no front desk, no concierge, no room service. the ritz cross street charge 650 per night, and they charge about 500 which is BS. The worst thing is, I left a brand new vase in the kitchen, when I came back to the room, the vase was gone, there is nobody I can talk to except to call their custom service. I was told they were working on it for four days, and they still couldn't find it. And they told me the cleaning company must throw that away they assumed that was a garbage. THEY ASSUME A BRAND NEW Jonathan Adler VASE WHICH THE PRICE TAG IS ALSO ON IT AS A GARBAGE! WHAT A BS! with all been said, the service is the worst and if you want to enjoy your vacation, don't stay there, it's gonna destroy your vocation.
- Verified traveler (2/5): NO SERVICE. - It is NOT a hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice apartment, perfect location - Great location. Not friendliest check in.
- mark (8/5): Comfy but prepare to bring your own... - Very comfortable and clean. Two cabinet doors were broken and not fixed in 3 days we were there despite requests. Set up more for long term rental than short stays - no coffee filters, no dishwasher detergent and staff declined to provide either. No hair drier or bath mats.
- Kristin (6/5): - Not a hotel. Doesn't have a hairdryer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a short stay apartment with a full kitchen. Our room was very spacious, clean, and quiet. Location is outstanding for sightseeing and there's a Whole Foods Market next door. But don't expect hotel service--this is an apartment building with a front desk, but not all the support staff of a hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Foggy Bottom Hotel - Great hotel! Can't recommend enough!
