- Amy (10/5): We can't wait to revisit! - We spent two nights at Beacon Vlei and absolutely loved it! Our cottage was clean, comfortable, and truly exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and helpful while still giving us plenty of privacy, and this made the stay even more relaxing. The views overlooking the dam from our cottage were beautiful, and we especially enjoyed the bass fishing and spent hours out on the water! We’d definitely stay here again and are already thinking about coming back with the family. Highly recommended!

- Grant (7/5): Nice venue, rooms lovely, slight maintenance required. - The location is beautiful and the rooms nice. A truly lovely spot. Some of the items listed and anticipated were not present - like hairdryers and soap. The muddy track was a bit difficult - this may be seasonal but could be addressed. Front Door stuck a bit. Some of the furnishing is a bit rickety.

We enjoyed the There was quite a few insects in the cottages ( but that is expected in the countryside.) You need to carry bug spray.

- Francina (8/5): Beautiful House in a beautiful location. - Beautiful Location. Beautiful house! Fireplace and electric blankets saved our lives! Asked for a hairdryer but it didn't arrive by the time we had to leave. No fishing access to the dam from the side where the cottages were.

- Wendy (8/5): - Spacious, lots of light, comfortable beds, there's both a dining area and lounge, plenty of heaters and each bed had an elecrtic blanket. The beds had top sheets. The kitchen was great with everything we needed. It was serviced and as a bonus there was wood waiting in the fireplace. It had been raining and the farm road to the cottage was slippery and challenging to drive on. Fortunately though we went up and down it a number of times we didn't get stuck. The beds could have had more blankets.

He went out of his way to ensure our stay was wonderful. The driveway. This weekend was raining and it's a farm so there was mud. Nevertheless it was fun.

Cottage was very comfortable and well equiped We went to take photos of a meteor shower, but the security lights on the other side of the lake were a problem with it not being dark enough 🥲

Centrally located and easy to get to. Felt like we were living on our own farm. Will definitely go back! The oven is a little old, its not a big deal just took some proding and poking to get it working.
- Bonita Braum (8/5): Overall, we had a lovely stay. The house was huge and spacious and would definetly go back. - Beautiful location. The property was big and had enough space to accommodate our big family for 3 nights. The electric blankets in some of the rooms helped keep everyone warm, we are not used to cold weather. We loved having a fire in the lounge area. The house needs some maintenance. With a large family of 12, the dishwasher did not work. Even though staff came to wash dishes in the morning, dishes etc.... needed to be done after dinners at night for breakfast. The dishwasher would have helped. We had rain on the saturday and there are a lot of leaks with lots of water dripping through the roof onto the floor where everyone walks.The upstairs bedroom could have done with a heater and/or electric blanket. Was a bit chilly up there. The fridge seal is broken and in need of repair, and we could not get the oven to work. A few untensils, like the braai tongs could be replaced / renewed. they are flimsy and we could not use them as our meat kept dropping out of them. It was not something that affected our stay, but for future visitors, these minor issues should be taken into consideration.
- Taljaard (6/5): Pleasant - Very clean Unorganized, staff was unaware that I had a booking and no one could get through to the owner for confirmation. I was asked multiple times which unit I'm booking into and I only had my booking reference that does not state the cottage name.. Atleast the staff let us check into the one cottage that was unoccupied.
- Wendy (7/5): A beautiful Boathouse but maintenance is needed. - We loved the boathouse, in particular the beautiful fireplace and lovely old house. The location is unbeatable right by the lake. The owners communication was good and we had no complaints there. It was a pleasant stay. Unfortunately, a few things let this place down. 1. The bathroom in the main bedroom was unusable as when we flushed the toilet, the whole bathroom flooded with water. The taps in the basin were broken and water streamed from it for the two days we were there. Luckily, there is another bathroom. 2. The canoes and boats were in a bad state, with only 1 canoe working, despite its broken seat. The other had a hole in it and filled with water when I got in. We saw a few people head down to the boats and change their mind about paddling when seeing the condition of the boats. 3. No outside lights at the boathouse. We wanted to barbecue in the evening, but it was pitch black. The owner said to use a torch. 4. Not a great deal of privacy, as people, dogs and cats were walking right by our place, as it's where the boats are kept. We were hoping for a bit more privacy.

Would have liked the grass in front of the lake to be cut so we could have a better view of the lake The bathrooms were not clean, the showers had months of dirt and hair from previous guests accumalated in the corners of the shower floor. The bathrooms ars not cleaned after every guest leaves or probably not at all. The kettle and microwave were sticky with dirt so they are not being washed regularly. The cement look in the bathroom disguises some of the dirt but not all of it. Wont return because of fhe dirty bathrooms

It was a lovely house just needs a thorough springclean-cobwebs,floors needed a scrubbing,table surfaces needed to be wiped down etc Unable to control flow of hot water in kitchen. 2 bedrooms interlead.Have to walk through 1 bedroom to use the bathroom-not ideal as we were all adults. Entrance to farm very muddy especially as it was raining. Parking area outside farmhouse needs to be improved,Guest with a double cab bakkie had to be towed out.

The cottage was equipped with everything we needed and coz. The cottage has easy access to the road. The bonus for us were the visits from the dogs, we enjoyed them so much. Maybe let us know upfront of check in process. My phone battery died while on the way, if it was not for the other guests who were checking in at the same time with us we wouldn't have known what to do when we got there

Could safely walk around. Boats had holes in. DSTV was not a full package so we couldn't watch the rugby. a bit of TLC is needed as taps are loose, some windows don't have latches.

- Vuyokazi (8/5): we were extremely tired a just needed a place to stay, his granted just that. peaceful & serene - the location was great and the place was serene and welcoming. self check in was efficient. the host was understanding as we over slept past check out time as we were extremely tired. the night was very quiet, not a sound. exactly what we needed. furniture is a little bit dated in terms of style but then again it is a farm stay.

- Pam (10/5): I highly recommend it, if you want time away to just relax. - So peaceful. Bird life is amazing. Hubby was very happy with the fishing. The flys were very bad. We spoke to the guy who was cleaning and he sprayed something which helped.

- Colleen (8/5): Very good - Loved the drive down, visiting the art and craft shops. The scenery and views are spectacular. The views from the rooms and the peace and quiet is what will make us return. My boys loved the canoeing on the beautiful clean dam and even caught some bass. We did not like the flies, which we assume are from the surrounding farms. The beds were very hard, and the carpets in the bedrooms need to be replaced. The kitchen could do with some deep cleaning.
