- Christine (10/5): Perfect for skiing. - Great location and friendly staff. Could have been freshened up a bit.
- Michele (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - The room was large and well appointed. The staff was very kind. The room was quiet I wish they had breakfast available. In the past the staff member we dealt with was unfriendly but the current staff we dealt with are wonderful and friendly.
- Eastin (7/5): -
- stacie (10/5): -
- nancy (10/5): - Comfortable and nice frig and keurig setup Bathroom door hinges need a little wd-40
- Robyn (6/5): Nice rooms, but prefer a better price point for the location. - The rooms are very nice and plenty of easy accessible parking. The price was a little higher for the area and the office staff are not very friendly. Both my stays I had to go ask for bath towels as they didn’t have any in the room.
- Chuyen (10/5): -
- mike (8/5): - Love the location
- Jeffery (9/5): -
- Beverly (6/5): Did enjoy the stay and enjoyed watching the elk wander around the grounds. - Cleanliness of room and comfortable bed. Toilet plunger got stuck and wouldn't flush, wall heater was super noisy when starting and stopping.

- Ford (7/5): - There is not much outside of Mount Rainer. This location was the closest with a market and morning coffee and brewery. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
The lobby had extras like maps, popcorn and drinks for purchase but it wasn’t very clean .
The staff was to the point and not very welcoming.
It would serve them well to be more inviting and the lobby clean. Based on check in I was concerned about our accommodations. As it turned out our room was clean and comfortable 😅
- Louis (10/5): -
- Cindie (4/5): - Lodge was great. Cleaning staff was super sweet. Front counter lady was not very friendly and rude. Acted lije she dud not want to be there and hated her job. Acted like it was to much trouble to help us. Wouldn't let us check in until 4pm and would not let us use a bathroom after we paid almost 400.00 for our room.
- John (9/5): Decent place to stay. Good value. Clean - There is no breakfast at this location. A small town experience not an urban conglomerate. Newly remodeled rooms were well done and in the rustic style lending to the surrounding environment. Great location. If your looking for carpeted floors these rooms don't have it however it was a minor inconvenience. Smooth floors are much easier to keep clean and sanitary. You would not believe how dirty a carpet can get even if your in a five star hotel in the city.
- Nancy (8/5): - Location to skiing was terrific. I liked the big lobby, its decorations, offered snacks, and drinks. It was very clean. The neighbors water use during their shower was loud.
- Eric (8/5): Good value - Great location and clean rooms.
- David (9/5): great value for location and money - nice room great location. shower was hard to use
- Brian (6/5): - Location
- Kristin (10/5): Great stay, close to mountain and quiet. - Maintained, cleaned and friendly service. The conditioner dispenser did not work.
- w (4/5): Glad it was only a night. Lots of money in the lobby and not in room! Boo. - It had a lock… The floor has damage, room smelled weird, bed creaked, heater ac room temp horrible.
- mike (8/5): - Love this place ❤️
Love the location ,right in town Wifi is pretty week
- Kristine (7/5): - Location , it's perfect! I walked into the lobby to not be greeted and was treated very rude by front desk lady and the next day I had to acknowledge her and greet her with a good morning with a cold demenner. It's a beautiful place with a rude front desk staff who should be taught customer service and to smile and greet people when entering the lobby. Thank you for letting me share with you my experience. You have a beautiful lodge with a unwelcoming desk lady.

- Small (9/5): It was a wonderful accommodation! -
- KarenKay66 (8/5): A rustic lodge with nice rooms.... - First: we arrived early to see signs posted everywhere "no early check-ins!!!" So we didn't try to do that. I had a question about directions and asked the man at the reception desk. His answer: he just waved his arm and said "down the road." no welcome, glad you are here, nothing!!! When we came back at the appropriate time to check in, Mr. Super Unfriendly was not there and we were checked in by a very nice woman. Our room was large and very nice, rustic charm. We enjoyed seeing the elk wandering the property. When we inquired later on about great places to eat in the area (Packwood is TINY), a maid actually called a restaurant to see if they were open!! So all in all a good stay except for Mr. Super Unfriendly. Not a great person to meet upon arrival!
- Thomas (7/5): -
- Troskey (9/5): - The gentleman who checked me in had solid recommendations for food, activities. Plus he was quick. Checked in on 10/8. The window was stuck in a 6" open position. Would not open further or close.
- Carl (8/5): - 👍
- Patrick (8/5): -
- Dustin (6/5): - Great location
- tom (6/5): - Slow internet. Gentleman at front desk was short with answers. Location was not full the night before ( off season between summer and ski) but would not allow us to check in a little early. Wanted to get a hike in yet that afternoon but had food in car. Ended up going to a brewery.
- Chad (8/5): - Clean room with a comfortable bed and a shower with high water pressure!
- Sherrie (8/5): - Close to Mt. Rainer. Quaint place excellent room and bed was super comfy
- dennis (8/5): - Good location to access Mt. Rainer. Room was clean, food and services nearby. Loved the wildlife roaming the grounds. Fat guy running the lobby was rude and unaccommodating. He ought to be fired.
- Jeff (7/5): - Close to town and national park Staff seems grumpy most of the time
- Gary (6/5): - The owner was grumpy not friendly they don’t have breakfast anymore the bed was not comfortable
- Jean (6/5): - Needs to be updated. Gentleman at front desk was not friendly.
- Michelle (8/5): - Place was clean and conveniently located.
- Maria (8/5): - Enjoyed seeing the elk daily at this hotel. Limited dining options nearby, however. Charming little mountain town. Room was clean and the area felt very safe.
- Cynthia (6/5): One night stay - Well the lodge is out the country side in packwood.
Beds are okay, room was dusty, open the curtains dust particles flying everywhere, my allergies started. I expect something a bit better.
- Gui (8/5): - Nice surroundings, walkable to store and restaurant
- winter (10/5): -
- David (8/5): - Clean room. No freezer in the fridge which is a negative.
- Charmaine (10/5): - The bed was extremely comfortable.
- Sharon (8/5): - nice, well-appointed room, comfy bed, large screen tv
host was underwhelming
- Charley or Linda (10/5): - ADA room was nice. Lots of room in the room and bathroom for wheelchair. Parking was in front of room. Coffee pot was broken. room. Didn't like thcoffee
- Beth (6/5): - Great location right at the bottom of Mt. Rainier. Easy to get around town. Great water pressure in the tub/shower. But the tub didn't drain well so kept having to shut water off to drain the tub. The new trend is no housekeeping unless you ask for it. Same here. The property around the hotel was dirty. No attempt by staff to clean up. We did have daily visits by elk, sometimes a few, once a whole lot. Fascinating to see them so up close.
- travelkitty50 (6/5): Mediocre! - This place is not on or near any river; it overlooks either a parking lot or (in the back) a private home. When I read the description of a "warm, welcoming mountain town" I thought this would be a great place to spend $207 a night for a couple of nights. We didn't even get to spend the first night due to an incompetent clerk giving us directions to another part of the state, 2.5 hours away from there. The next morning when we did arrive, the clerk barely looked up to get us checked in. They also have no breakfast but do have four or so restaurants within about a half mile from the place. I would say that this would be a cozy stopping point on the way to somewhere else, but for what I paid, I guess I expected a bit more of a bang for my hard earned money.
- Sherry (10/5): Amazing!!! - Cowlitz River Lodge was a place of refuge for my son and I. It was clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. I love the fact that there was a sink with a mirror outside of the bathroom. The lobby was extremely helpful. It had cold water for our water bottles, tea and hot water. I even enjoyed a bag of popcorn my first night there. I would recommend the cowlitz River Lodge to anybody that is going up to Mount Rainier. The national park is only 10 to 15 minutes from there. The lodge is also near a gas station and market. There are also a couple restaurants that are open late if you need them after coming back from the national park.
- Dennis (8/5): - Front desk woman didn't seem so friendly.
- Trent (2/5): - I didn’t like the extremely rude manager or owner. I didn’t like that they advertised breakfast but stopped serving food without notice. I didn’t like that he would lock the lobby in the morning so you couldn’t get coffee.
- rachel (10/5): Comfortable stay, no breakfast - Very comfortable rooms with easy access to Mt. Rainier. In the morning we drank our coffee while watching elk in the front grass of the hotel. Great pillows, comfortable bed. No breakfast is offered, there is morning coffee with coffee mate but no actual cream.
- Pedro (6/5): Good but needs improvement in the cleaning. - The location was really good, close to Mount Rainier. The room floor was very dirty.
- Michael (7/5): Solides Motel - Gute Lage, man ist gleich im Ort.
Gute Lage zum Nationalpark.
Zimmer Ok
Sauberkeit sehr gut. Beim CheckIn Null Info.
Wollte wohl schnell wieder Ihre Kopfhörer auf und Musik hören.
- Sandra (7/5): - Lovely seeing the herd of elk in the early evening! Rude greeting on arrival.
- john (8/5): -
- Stanton (8/5): - Good location for national park The front desk person was a bit miserable I asked where was good place to eat in town his answer all of them to me that’s not helpful
- Wade (10/5): -
- Jon (10/5): - Beautiful view of Rainier down the street too
- Yin Yin (6/5): - Decent. Room is spacious.
- Alan (4/5): - We rented several rooms on 3 different dates this summer. All three times we had issues. The office is Very disorganized! Even double charging for one of the rooms. I would look for other options first.
- Nieh (8/5): Large and clean room for a reasonable price - The size of the room is good. The bed is comfortable. Clean. Good price. The couch/futon is not very comfortable. Sound proof can be better. The front desk clerk is with no smile at all.
- Karen (6/5): Ok place to stay - Coffee in lobby was run out at 830 am with no plans on making more. No breakfast provided. No elevators for handicapped hubby so she put us in a pet room on bottom floor and charged an additional 35.00, even though we didn't have a pet. Front door was dented and scratched, making us wonder if people break in often. On the bright side, bed was comfortable and room clean. We're not that picky but this was an ok hotel with no views and pictures on website make it look so much better than it really is.
- Parul (6/5): - Weird surroundings
- Terry (10/5): - Place was nice but starting to age a bit. The guy behind the counter did not speak much at all and wasn’t very welcoming. Also he said nothing as I dropped the key off in the morning
- David (10/5): - The only reason why I’m doing this review is cause hotels.com keeps bugging me get your crap togetherhotels.com
- Eli (10/5): -
- Nancy (10/5): -
- Cheeseman (5/5): I’ve stayed at better and I’ve stayed it worse - Location was nice The continental breakfast that was advertised on the website was discontinued. The refrigerator in the room didn’t work and I had notified the front desk who didn’t seem to really care.
- William (8/5): The stay was fine, but the I thought it would be more luxuious for the price. - The location was excellent. No breakfast was offered at this facility.
- Brenda (9/5): -
- james (7/5): Location was great. It was fun, but the amenities were zero even though the room was nice and clean and hospitality was - The room was fantastic nice and clean beds were great. TV was a little hard to figure out but hey there for one night and it was really good. What we didn’t like is that the kitchen for a breakfast was not open and the gentleman at the front desk was not exactly the friendliest or most congenial person. It was at first like we were an inconvenience. He had a sign up because we knew check-in was at 3 o’clock, but his sign was there are no exceptions 3 o’clock. So we had to wait about an hour or two hours. We were there early. But we were a little disco concerned about there being no breakfast kitchen wasn’t open. There wasn’t even a continental breakfast. Nothing so $300 for a room and you don’t even get a breakfast was a little steep but again there was a reason for it and we did it again the gentleman running the hotel was not the friendliest and I don’t think we’d stay there again
- Juan (8/5): - Very clean rooms.
- Arlyn (10/5): -
- Celeste (6/5): Good location, quiet, needs updating - Proximity to Mt Rainier National Park. Quiet. Comfy bed. Smelled weird, in need of an update, shower was kind of like standing inside a fire hose.
- Julie (8/5): We were satisfied and will return to this hotel in 2026. - Clean, great location, free parking, breakfast included, dog friendly. Great spaces available for walking our dog. The property is somewhat dated but adequate for our visit purposes.
- Donald (10/5): - Loved the lobby interior, also the popcorn machine and andes mints were a nice touch
- Michael (10/5): - This place was great, people nice and convenient. Would recommend to anyone.
- Christine (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable and as convenient to the east cascades as anywhere. The town is adorable.
- Dennis (6/5): Will do - Just okay. Not much in the area.
- Lauren (9/5): Highly recommend! Comfy beds, clean, good location. Only recommendation is to offer breakfast. - We were very happy here! Comfy beds, clean, good location walking distance to the brewery and restaurants. Pretty convenient being right outside Mt. Rainier National Park (still a pretty long drive in but this is as good as it gets if not staying IN the park!) The only improvement would be offering something for breakfast which it looks like you used to!
- Jana (9/5): -
- Kazi (6/5): - The front desk staff were a bit rude throughout our stay. From the moment we checked in, the experience felt unwelcoming. When we first received our room keys, I was putting my credit card away and the receptionist immediately called out “next” without even a simple “thank you” or “welcome.”
During our stay, each time I went to the lobby, the interactions felt awkward and uncomfortable. For example, when our room keys stopped working and I asked for assistance, the receptionist seemed surprised—as if it was unusual—and instead of handling it calmly, she began ranting. It made the situation unnecessarily unpleasant.
Overall, the front desk team could definitely improve on basic hospitality, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Fariya (6/5): - Staff were not friendly. The man at reception was quite rude about a simple request for housekeeping. Also had issue with shower not draining. Room was fine otherwise.
- jane (10/5): - Older but clean
- Chanan (6/5): OK Motel - This is a motel, not a "lodge" . As so it's a basic (yet ok) motel in a very small location. Ok to crash for a night, not more.
- PAMELA (10/5): - Loved the 4 queen bed suite. Perfect for a family!!!!
- Talal (6/5): - Great location if you were visiting Mount Rainier National Park and surrounding area. My room was spacious, clean, quiet with comfortable bed, mini-fridge, microwave and coffee machine. Wifi is free but speed in my room was less than 5 mbs. Parking ample and free.
I would have given this hotel higher rating was it not for the complete absence of room service.
