Guest Reviews
- Peta (10/5): Reliable, good value. - Love everything about this place, and stay regularly on trips south from Brisbane. Showers are excellent, even if they are shared. Had the middle room this time, and it wasn't as good as the others. But served its purpose.
- MARTHA JANE (6/5): - The bed was really comfortable. The food that we ordered in the restaurant was excellent (Yamba prawns, chicken breast burger). It was nice to sit on the verandah It was nice to sit out on the verandah but the chairs were in a serious need of a cleaning under the cushions.
The room was very hot and stuffy when we arrived (April) and the fan was just blowing hot air down. It was a quiet fan though. đđ»
The windows and doors should have been opened up prior to our arrival. Once we did that and left them all open while we went to dinner, it was much cooler inside. At risk to our security though. Also, they didn't have any standing fans, even on request.
The screens on the doors need serious attention.
The staff blew out the car park leaves at 5 am (20 min of petrol blower noise) for the council to pick up at 8 with the truck. I think that's probably illegal. Obviously, that was the end of our sleeping efforts.

- arnaud (9/5): -
- P (10/5): -
- Alyssa (10/5): Beautiful spot for a night, food is always amazing at the pub! - Location. Vibes. Cleanliness No air con.
- Gypsie Rose Lee (3/5): - The building is lovely All the fly screens were dusty and dirty
The bathrooms had no hand towels or dryer
No windows in the room that can be opened to allow cool airflow
Very expensive for what you get
- Peter (10/5): - Breakfast included, cereal, milk, tea/.coffee
Beautiful views of the river Room was a little stuffy on arrival, would be great if it could have had the doors open to allow air in.
- louise (7/5): - We always love the position.
Food is great and staff are friendly. The bed was very uncomfortable.
I relize iits a pub but we have stayed at other pubs the beds were really comfortable.
- Mark (9/5): -
- Nikki (10/5): - Comfortable bed. Clean. Great feed in the hotel
- Jessica (6/5): - Bed was very comfortable, staff very friendly & polite. Room was clean and continental breakfast had a great variety of cereal. No air conditioner in room and barely a breeze through the window. TV was tiny and had a terrible picture.
- Patterson (10/5): We loved the area and the stay - Old property but very comfortable
Best food A bigger TV
- ropetchell (10/5): - Exceptionally clean. Excellent position. True to the traditional Australian historical hotel experience. Nothing, be aware there is no aircon.
- Helen & Rod (9/5): Perfect for our overnight trip to Sydney - Location off the highway & staying in the pub with gorgeous verandahs off the rooms. Steep staircase but it was only because we had big suitcases so packed overnight stuff into shopping bags out by the car.
- Kevin (9/5): Very happy with what I paid and what I received keep it going thanks. - Cleanliness, balcony views
- Simon (4/5): probably not worth coming back to the Ulmaarra hotel for accommodation - room provided was an internal room with no air fow. Noisy and not terribly pleasant - even though there appeared many outside rooms unoccupied
- Kim (10/5): - Pleasantly surprised đ Prefer my own bathroom
- Kate (10/5): - It was so peaceful and quiet over night . Such a pretty location on the river.
- Brian (7/5): - Location was quiet. Plenty of parking. No air-conditioning. Had ceiling fan. It was a hot evening.
- James (10/5): -
- Joanne (9/5): I was sad to leave, I had a wonderful stay and I didnât encounter any ghosts! - I loved the history of the pubâŠitâs been beautifully refurbished, the bed was super comfy, it was quiet and having a shared bathroom wasnât a problem at all.
- 3BB1SW (8/5): Excellent country Pub stay with excellent food, worth the deviation off the Highway - The Hotel was right on the river in a quiet country town not far from the main highway. Located above a great country pub with excellent food. ceiling fan in the room made a noise all night...but could still sleep.
- Lynn (5/5): - nice location no air conditioner
- Roscoe (3/5): Thoroughly check rooms before use....know it is old ,and has charm.....but at what cost Sanity ? - ambiance of hotel and surrounds was very good Room number 5 was an absolute disaster and has to be the worst room in the place.
Very noisey as is at top of every entry point.....turn it into a reception room.
The room was bright all night due to the pitiful Blinds.....let alone people could see into the room as the went to ablutions area as they COULD not be made View proof.
- mychinaplate (7/5): Beautiful. - Beautiful little hotel in a great location. We missed the restaurant because we arrived too late at night. Not their fault though. We heard it was amazing.
- D' Agostini (8/5): -

- Tim (6/5): -
- Lynn (10/5): -
- Adam (8/5): - Clean, comfy rooms. Quaint building with good bistro. Friendly and helpful staff Shared bathrooms, though they are clean and work well
- Arun (7/5): - Old building architecture, small town and hotel by the river The kitchen closes by 8 pm, no options for late meals.
- Kazuko (8/5): Location is a little away from main highway however itâs definitely worth the visit - Everything was great and we loved staying there. Location is beautiful by the river.
Food was wonderful!!!
But the weather of day we stayed was extremely hot đ„”. Nothing I can think about !

It is well priced also
- Jason (8/5): I was unfortunately detained & was a late arrival so missed a meal. Not their fault but I had dined there before so - History. Old pub feel.
- Christine (10/5): Made our mother/daughter Jacaranda holiday very pleasant. The last night we had rain. Growing up in North Qld, rain - Location, old world charm, grassed area to the River. Staff very accommodating.
Special shout out to the housekeeping/cleaning staff. Rooms & facilities were always clean and tidy. Thank you. Liked everything regarding the venue. Facilities not being in the room was a surprise but added to the charm of the Hotel and was insignificant for my daughter and self.
- Lehman (9/5): - We had a quick 1 night stay at Ulmarra. It was a last minute booking and we were lucky to secure 2 rooms for our family of 5. We weren't expecting much for a quick stay but we were blown away at how beautiful this old hotel is. My sister owns a pub in a small town and I can truly see the hard work the owners and stuff have put into Ulmarra. You all are doing an AMAZING job.
The rooms were great and the food...WOW!!!! If we ever are mad enough to drive to QLD again from Victoria, Ulmarra will definitely be one place we will stop again
- Eleanor (8/5): An easy place to stay en route to Brisbane - We love the location. This hotel is the perfect distance between our home and Brisbane, so weâve stayed here several times. Delivery truck noise first thing in the morning.
- Rick Lennox (8/5): -
- Jeremy (9/5): -
- Graeme (10/5): - Had a great dinner in the Bistro
- Hannah-Maria (8/5): - We loved everything about this hotel, the architecture and character, the food in the restaurant was delicious, the views along the river. The downside was our tiny room was in the middle of hotel and there was no airflow, if we opened a window it would only have opened on to the hallway as people walked past (and they were a bit noisy). The room was stuffy and couldnât sleep. Everything else was perfect.
- Arnold Mcmarconald (10/5): - Clean, good staff, nice place
- hora (9/5): Very good. - Lovely having a gin & tonic out on the river bank thru to sunset.
- Narelle (8/5): - Arrived late because of an accident on the highway. Dinner at the pub was great. Room onto the balcony was nice. Brekkie was a bonus. Great stay Steps up to the rooms were steep
- Nola (10/5): - The setting, comfort, food... and the peace and quiet. N/A

- Christine (10/5): - Very comfortable stay. Quiet and the pizzas in the dining room were amazing. Very ambient setting.
Shared bathrooms were good as there were plenty of them. Would definitely stay again. We liked everything.
- Gordon (9/5): -
- Ruth (10/5): - It was a very convenient little stay. Food was amazing, however, because it was Friday night there were no seats available to eat in the bistro.
Downside was, being a Friday night, there were a lot of people around and it was not quiet for the wearing traveller.
- Jeff Galle (8/5): - good restaurant
- Egle (8/5): -
- Kerry (10/5): Welcoming and relaxing. - The hotel was extremely clean and welcoming. And the fish and chips from restaurant was best weâve had in a long time.
Breakfast continental was a pleasant addition. All good.
- JaneSteve (7/5): Dinner was fine - Old world hotel. Bookings.com having a higher price than booking with the hotel.
- Robert (8/5): - Clean and tidyw Location of room. Windows to corridor- noisy
- Garry (9/5): -

- David (9/5): Superb -
- Debbie (8/5): Great little pub - Quiet village and great outlook over the river. Amenities a bit dated but very clean. Room was small but cosy and beds were comfortable. - MR MICHEAL (10/5): - Breakfast could be improve. They offer continental breakfast when in fact is only cereal coffe milk and fruits from the fridge
- Catherine (7/5): Good -

- Katrina (5/5): Fulfilled the brief of a place to sleep, but not much more. - Dinner at the pub downstairs. Breakfast supplies provided in room. Shared bathroom
- Brent (7/5): Good -
- Colleen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Doug (7/5): Good - it is a beautiful old hotel with great river views from the restaurant. the village is very compact with very limited places to eat, only the hotels restaurant and a very nice coffe shop 3 doors up. The rooms have a fridge and tv and a continental breakfast in the room Like alot of old pubs the rooms don't have a basin. The showers/toilet are down the hall. The nightly rate reflects that
- Greg (8/5): - Pub situated right on the banks of the Clarence River. Just perfect.
