Guest Reviews
- Stephen (10/5): - I thought that this was a very beautiful, sort of old fashioned place to stay...very charming, a lot of intricate woodwork in the room and balcony...a short and easy walk to the beach.
- ROBERT (8/5): - The host and her family where amazing.
- Melanie (6/5): - Vraiment pas du tout ce que l'image représente. Nous avons dû changer de chambre. Odeur de moisissures 3chambres sur 4.
- LS13 (8/5): Good budget option in quiet Beach location - The guest house is actually at Tan Thanh beach which is a 20 minute walk from An Bang. There isn’t a prominent sign and our taxi driver (100k Vnd from Hoi An) struggled to locate it. The building is nicely designed, made of mostly dark wood with a long shared balcony running the length of the first floor where our room was. The room itself was large, lots of wood and windows on all sides. It described it as sea view but this was distant and across a small road and some wasteland. The room had fridge, a/c, safe (not working) and a good mosquito net over the large bed. There is also an area to dry clothes on the balcony. The bathroom was wet room style, but there was a problem with drainage meaning that there was a pool of water around the toilet constantly. We slept quite well but as mentioned the building is all wood and we were disturbed in the night by what sounded like termites or similar insects scratching in the walls. For $15 though we were happy with the room.
The area is a bit strange. As mentioned it’s further along the beach from An Bang. It would have been straight along a quiet road parallel to the beach but this has been dissected by a large resort under construction, or more accurately not under construction, which means a 10 minute detour. There are a couple of bars and restaurants in walking distance but it feels like this area has been cut off somewhat by the stalled large development. There are numerous building sites in the area- hotels, condos and restaurants either being built or dismantled. They face onto the beach which is unfortunately blighted by tide strewn rubbish- flip flops, plastic and even a dead dog. It’s surprising the owners of local businesses don’t clean the beach. We decided to avoid the water anyway as there was a mysterious yellow/brown scum on the water which extended right up to An Bang. I’m not sure if it was pollution but if so, the proposed and newly built Sheraton,Marriot and other resorts along the coast near Da Nang will need to fix it quickly! In summary, the guest house was a good budget option, in a quiet area, but the beach itself left a lot to be desired.
- John (2/5): - Not seaside
- 13phillipab (10/5): Great , value for money, beach side accommodation - We had a brilliant stay here, with our three children. We were in two separate rooms, each with its own bedroom, and we had our breakfast on the balcony outside, in the morning. It’s clean, and 2 minutes from the beach. There’s a good selection of cafes and beach bars within walking distance.
However, the best aspect of Seaside Homestay is the host, Thú, who is so friendly, and keen to help.
- gobunti (8/5): Friendly and comfortable - We spent five days here and we were very satisfied. Breakfast every morning on our balcony, a nice airy and comfortable room plus all the benefits of a friendly and welcoming family run business. The beach is just a couple of minutes away, restaurants and bars abound in the vicinity and there are bikes for guests to use. A welcome respite from Hoi An's tourist bustle.
- Laurie (10/5): Little nook by the sea - The hotel and staff were very accommodating. They booked a taxi that was waiting for me when I got off of the train. They helped me book a great tour for less money than I had seen online and made me a delicious breakfast every morning with fresh fruit. Highly recommend!
- mmtravels2824 (10/5): You’ve got to stay here!! Incredible!! - My partner and I stayed 6 days in this quiet home stay and loved every moment of it. Had breakfast on the balcony outside out room every morning, staff were very friendly and welcoming. They invited us to a homemade meal free of charge for staying with them. Helped us with things to do around Hoi An and places to go. But most of all the room was absolutely gorgeous, wooden high ceilings, windows covering majority of the room with a very comfy able bed, tv, fridge, kettle ect. We could see the ocean from our balcony. Couldn’t recommend this home stay anymore, we will be going back. Close to very nice traditional Vietnamese family owned restaurants and some restaurants more catered to westerners along the beach. 4km out of main Hoi An in a very nice quiet area. We hired a scooter and rode in every day but loved being about to come back to the peace and quiet. Definitely worth staying here!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay in An Bang - Great comfortable stay in quiet end of An Bang beach. Really helpful and friendly manager, and staff that made our stay delightful. Great family stay!
- Y4118JApetere (10/5): Lovely friendly family run 5 room hotel close to the beach - We stayed 10 nights. Great experience with good location, friendly staff, lots of things to explore. Owners are lovely, so friendly. Breakfast was excellent, fried beef noodles and banana pancake were my two favourites. Thu was so helpful. She will book transport from and to the airport at very good rates. She will help you book all of the excursions and you can settle up with her at the end of your stay. We visited Ba Na Hills, had a driver for one half day to explore several places, and did a cooking course, which was great fun. This was a great holiday for me and my wife, great people, great food, very good value and so close to the beach and restaurants. Taxi to Hoi An was cheap and people watching at the riverside at night in Hoi An was very good. Not to mention some grade one craft beers. We booked another week there in 2 months time, and really looking forward to it.
- Johan (10/5): A Vietnamese pearl near Hoi An and by the beach - Brilliant place! Extremely friendly, hospitable and helpfull staff/family - Clean and very nice room. Nice bathroom and large clean bed! Have nothing bad to say about this place. The beach bar (beach is 1 minute away by foot) attached to Seaside Homestay is cozy and the beach (a more local and nicer part of An Bang beach) is amazing! Easy to get to How An Old Town by bike, scooter or just by getting a Taxi. Bikes are provided for free and scooters can be rented at a very(!) good rate - and all sorts of tours/excursions can also be sorted. Just take a look at the other comments for this place. A definite "best choice" if you come by Hoi An but want the more relaxed beach and local hospitality experience.
We stayed for 5 nights in room 202.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - If you ever visit Hoi An then stay at this place . It is a one minute walk to a glorious beach with low rise locally owned beach bars ( ignore the two big ones that have recently been built and drink and eat locally ) .It is a $3 taxi fare to Hoi An , so you can visit and explore but leave the hassle behind , and the many , many day trippers. Honestly the people were exceptionally friendly and helpful , they didn't try and upsell anything , provided some good suggestions and a big breakfast. Great balcony to sit out on of an evening or morning and air con.
- Andreas (8/5): Great value for money - We stayed for 4 nights. Seaside home stay is across a small street from the An Bang beach. They also run a small restaurant on the beach and we could use beach chairs. Management of home stay is very friendly and helpful in organizing pick up, scooter rental, etc. We can totally recommend to stay here and also recommend the small family restaurant next to Seaside home stay .The included breakfast is simple but pretty good- Only the coffee is instant...
- Jeremy (10/5): Fantastic - Loved the Homestay loved the area and loved the food. Definitely will be back
- alanbE8929IS (10/5): Hoi An hidden location - Great stay with lovely staff
Extremely helpful with arranging taxis tours and private transport to Hue
Room was quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of Hoi An on a quiet street in a charming building
Only 100/meters to lovely beach and restaurants
Tips:
Green taxis have meters cost is less than 100 vnd to the old city
Eat in the smaller food stalls near the round cultural theatre in preference to those on the river edge
Don't use grab cars late at night as price doubles
Ice cream cake vendors yummy
Enjoy the cultural historic sites
Snorkelling diving st Cham islands not cheap but a good day visit
Take a business card from the homestay which has the map for drivers
Enjoy this fine location with caring staff
- Carolinebujold (10/5): Best kept secret a must stay! - We loved this place. We hit the beach by day which is across the street. Then into town every night to enjoy the wonderful food and drinks ancient hoi an has to offer. Are guest experience was excellent and our host was so nice and answered all our questions and spoke perfect english. We were supposed to stay 3 days here and stayed for 12. Check this place out!
- Sally (10/5): Great Value for Money - Our stay at the Seaside Homestay was excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They made our stay very pleasant and easy to get around. A cooked breakfast was served each morning on a shared verandah. My only disappointment was our room was up in an loft style scenario with no aspect. All the other rooms had great windows. Just the luck of the draw. Great position across from the beach.
- Didi3012 (10/5): Perfect homestay at a beautiful beach - It was the perfect accomodation!!
The people were always smiling and very helpful. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable.
We wanted to stay two days and extendet 6 nights, because we felt so "homey" there :)
- J (10/5): - I had a great night there. Calm and peaceful. Very friendly service! Clean and nice room. Thank you!
- cathigreen (10/5): Our most relaxing- catch a breath heavenly stay - Alerted by Lonely Planet, and charmed by immediate responses from Sarah, we booked the Papaya house for a day to catch up and relax on our busy self tour. It was our best treat yet!
A bit hard to find for our Da Nang based taxi driver as it is down a small lane off the main road in An Bang just 3 doors from the sea, we arrived at dusk and were welcomed by Thahng, our hostess, and hailed “Welcome- you’ll love this place” by fellow cottage dwellers.
She explained everything, served a fresh welcome juice on our patio, and recommended and answered every question, including helping us to book a river cooking tour. She plied is with verified ideas four tailor and leather shops in Hoi An, and sent us off for our best meal of this vacation, The Purple Lantern.
We slept soundly in our grand villa surrounded by gentle jungle sounds, showered in our indoor and outdoor facilities en suite, and thoroughly enjoyed our freshly prepared breakfast, served on our patio, after exploring the nearby morning market- not to be missed.
The beach was the crown jewel of our stay where we lounged in padded chairs under the shade of an umbrella, swam in the calm warm sea, strolled and collected tiny seashells, and dined deliciously on coconut juice and spring rolls. We even purchased trinkets on the beach and had a local villager who specialized in threading perform her inexpensive craft.
I strongly recommend this gem on your magical visit to coastal Vietnam
- konstiman (10/5): Cozy house in top location - The two of us spend 5 nights at Seaside An Bang Homestay. We really liked the place, because the room was very cozy with a nice view and the host is super nice. She spend about 30min explaining everything to us. She made breakfast for us every morning, which was very fresh and tasty. The beach is right across the street. We also rented a scooter from them for the regular price (around 5€/day).
We can really recommend this quiet, cute and cozy Homestay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great, friendly place to stay 2 minutes from the beach. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very close to a lovely and quiet beach - Lovely rooms, small bathroom but adequate. Helpful staff. Easy taxi or grab access to Hoi An
- Breslaviana (2/5): The very center of a dirty, noisy construction site. Big disappointment. - The homestay presented in the pictures on booking.com has not existed for a long time. It is presented in an outdated and untrue way. When i was booking a room in this homestay, I was obviously expected to have a great relax, not that I will be located in the middle of the construction site. The property has 5 rooms: 2 on the ground floor and 3 on the 1st floor. The room that was offered to me, on the ground floor, was only one meter away from the very large construction. Works on the construction site are practically non-stop. The noise is unbearable. Despite my complaints to the host, he didn't offer me to move to another room located on the 1st floor, on the other side of the building, despite the fact that the room was free, which is totally surprising lack of concern for the client from the homestay service. Regardless of the tragic conditions caused by the neighboring construction, which should be clearly reflected in the price and there isn't, the room is just dirty. Dust is everywhere. Apparently the room service between bookings is limited to changing bed linen and towels. The bathroom is very smelly. Breakfast very basic. I stayed in that place 2 night - no room service during my stay. For that price you can find incomparably better hotel conditions in that location as it turned out later.
- SineadCasey (10/5): Highly recommended - My partner and I stayed here for only 1 night but we wished we could have stayed longer. Surrounded by ridiculously priced villas, here is a homely, comfortable, affordable accommodation that is a stone's throw from the beach. Nam was so kind and helpful, he lent us his bikes for free and had an early breakfast ready for us. Highly recommended.
- J2906BVlouisem (10/5): GREAT HOMESTAY IN HOI AN! - My husband and I stayed at Seaside An Bang while in Hoi An, and we had an EXCELLENT time!
The accommodations are beautiful... but it is Nam (the manager) who made this an AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
From the moment we arrived, Nam went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Nam gave us good recommendations for things to see and do in Hoi An... including his sister’s tailoring shop where we got many nice things made!
Nam helped us book transportation in and out of town, and made sure that the drivers knew exactly where we wanted to go.
And last bunt not least... Nam prepares breakfast every morning, and his PHO IS DELICIOUS!!!
The neighborhood is developing by right now, so expect some construction noise... but still a GREAT VALUE!
- claire (8/5): Nice hotel near the beach - Nice hotel with a very helpful host Nam. It was a little hard to find though.
- maxs567 (10/5): Great Place - Me and my girlfriend traveled all the way from Chicago to Vietnam, and I have to say that I've never experienced such a personal touch in a hotel anywhere around the world. This was by far the most genuine connection I had with a stranger. The owner and the worker our host named Naam I believe ( I apologize if I got the name wrong), was so engaged in helping us and getting to know us. We left the hotel today after 5 days and I literally miss them so much. On top of that rooms are very clean, smells very good ( like mint ) and it's a perfect location by the beach and 7 minutes to downtown Hoi An. They also arranged scooter rental for us which was very affordable. I cannot wait to visit again and stay with them just to see how these lovely people are doing.
- C4808EIkarenw (8/5): Fab little place on the beach - My husband and I visited this little restaurant and loved every minute! Staff are so lovely, friendly and helpful. Beers nice and cold, good food, good price. We asked for brandy and one of the guys went out on his bike to buy a bottle! Great place - we’ll be back!
- petrk242 (6/5): Construction across the street - We stayed at this homestay for 3 night in mid September 2017. We were looking forward to our stay, especially as this was recommended to us by our friend who was there 2 years ago. Unfortunately one thing the owner forgot to inform us about was the building construction across the road. Unfortunately all their rooms face in the direction of the construction site, which is some 15-20 meters away (effectively directly opposite across the road). On the first night we were woken up by the builders unloading bricks at 5am and the construction workers started cutting steal rods around 7am. Construction workers come on-site also on Sunday.
The rooms were beautiful, the breakfast good and staff very friendly, but given the surrounding it is unlikely you will get a good rest there for the coming few months...
- 14yaldaj (10/5): Just wonderful - We stayed here for three nights! It was absolutely amazing. The room was very clean and beautiful. Nam the manager and the family who lived there were totally adorable and friendly! It was my birthday during the stay and Nam got me beautiful bunch of flowers. Nice breakfast. Only 100 meters away from the beach. We went into Hoi An centre every night as not much going on around the hotel. Only 80-100 VNDs to get into town. Overall we would definitely definitely recommend this place to anyone! Thanks again guys!
- rociogomez183 (10/5): Best 5 nights in Vietnam - We are very glad that we booked this place to spend our 5 days in Hoi An.
It is 1 minute away from a very quiet and beautiful stretch of beach. It is very convenient to visit Hoi An town, as it is only 5km away. We could easily reach the town by bikes (made available for free) or by taxi (it is a very cheap journey). During the day, we could also walk to the town.
We appreciated the location of this place just away from Hoi An, as the town can get quite busy at night.
Our room was very spacious and clean. The staff is extraordinarily kind, helpful and friendly. We could not recommend this place highly enough.
Maria & Alessia (Spain and Italy)
- XBarb (10/5): Wonderful stay - We booked all the 5 rooms (a family group of 9 plus 1 year old) for 4 nights and had a wonderful stay. Thank you Thao and your family who looked after us. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast very good, and the family even cooked us a meal on our last day. A lovely place to stay in a non-touristy part near the beach. At first it appeared that there was little in the way of cafes or good places to eat nearby, but the Sound of Silence cafe just round the corner is excellent and there are probably more if you know where to look. The beach is great and swimming in the early morning or while watching the sun set is a treat. Thank you again to our hosts for a lovely place to stay.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Excellent for a beach holiday. - Very clean set to a beautiful beach - lounge chairs free if you go to the seaside restaurant area at the beach. Breakfast excellent. Nice balcony.
Quiet location but the roosters start calling very early.
Taxi into town &4-$5. Can ride free bikes which takes getting used to with the traffic.
- Don (10/5): - The best value I have seen anywhere. The room was very nice and the people could not have been nicer. I absolutely recommend their facility.
- Serge (2/5): Not ready to receive people - When we arrived there, the house was up side down. It was full of construction material everywhere and the owner tried to put us in another place that was almost the same. The view on the sea was inexistant and we asked for a refound.
