Guest Reviews
- Grisel (2/5): - I made a reservation through Expedia. We arrived at Cusco and Hostal Suecia was under construction! No one to talk to. The constructor worker had no idea The worst experience not having where to stay. Terrible mistake and of course I don’t recommend this place.
- Upset (4/5): - No recommended. Curfew at 12am and they lock the doors. No TV. Small room
- Monica (6/5): Good Accommodation Unethically Employee! - Everything was fine except for the fact that the front desk personnel tried to rip me off with taxi fare. I asked her to arrange a taxi to get me from Cusco to the Poroy station. Average cost is 20 Soles one way. She told me it was $50 . I was shocked and I told her that the average cost was 20 soles. Her price was outrageous. She then told me that she made a mistake and it was soles. I ended up paying 50 soles to get to Poroy. I did not use her services back from the station and was able to get a taxi for 25 soles.
The front desk personnel is supposed to safe guard the interest of their customer - not try to rip them off..Extremely disappointed that I have to give a negative review because of one dishonest person
- Miguel (8/5): Decent hotel close to the plaza - Experience was good considering the price. Cons: no soap in shower (even though I asked for one, I was told I’d have to buy one), you can’t come in after midnight so not the right place if you plan to go out party, and there was a window on the roof, which is good if you plan to wake up early , but not if you want to rest (I thought I had left the light on when I woke up).
Pros: great location, free breakfast, and good wifi.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staffs are nice. Not very flexible, declined for take away breakfast as I left early 2 out of 3 days, they only start serving from 6am. Come on, you operate in Cusco, you know most of the tours start picking up at 3-5am. The room has a mold smell , I’m sure it’s not good as ongoing. Wifi can’t be picked up in my room. Need to go to lobby and it was quite slow.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Perfekte Lage!
- Robert (8/5): Affordable, well located hotel for active people. - Centrally located, Hostal Suecia was just right for our 3 night stay in Cusco. It was affordable, clean and the staff was very willing to help us with whatever we needed. It is just steps away from the Plaza de Armas.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location good price for the quality. Nice staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location good breakfast nice staff..........
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fine with one exception - Everything was clean, staff was friendly and helpful with local info, showers were hot, and sufficient bedding for the night temp (no heat), towels, TP, etc. good WiFi. Breakfasts were not fancy but adequate to get us going for the day until we found a good lunch spot. The only trick is not to get a room facing the street, as just down the way there is a disco with loud, often turning angry (even fights), noise from around 11pm to around 5:30am, and outside walls are so thin that unless you are a deep sleeper or expert at using ear plugs (which staff will provide you with), you will be woken up often, despite the padding the staff has put on the window closures. It is unfortunate for the hostal, as otherwise, it is a fine place for budget travelers who want to be close to the Plaza, and besides those noisy disco hours, it is a fine street to walk and enjoy. If you get a room that does not face the street, you may hear late arrivers or very early leavers come in if they talk loudly because the rest of the rooms have windows facing the inner dining area, but that's way better than the disco noise, and not constant during the night. If you get a street room, try to have it switched ASAP!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hostel has cute rooms and an interior courtyard with pretty plants. Tina was so helpful! Keep in mind that you can pay a bit extra for a space heater at night. The hostel is on an incline and cars can only back onto the street, so expect to walk down to the plaza for taxis when needed. There are two discotheques nearby, so try to reserve rooms away from the street if you're going to sleep early for Machu Picchu. Nice hot showers. Eggs and coca tea for breakfast. Wonderful travel guide Edwin Saravia at Lucky Peru Tour is a few doors down if you need any help with tour reservations. Very happy Tina helped us find him.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel, close to central square - Clean place, very friendly staff. Try to get the romos that are on the backside in order to do not hear the noise of the Street.
- alberto (6/5): Could not sleep - Hotel was not easily accessible by car. Was on a small street with nearby bars and music MOST OF THE NIGHT! Could not sleep because of the noise and people talking all night!!
- Anderson (8/5): Hotel limpio, seguro y conveniente. - En términos generales bien, condiciones básicas y aceptables.
- Jennifer (8/5): hot showers and clean room - hot water! it is near the disco so it was loud on the weekends, but the room was clean and the staff was helpful.
- Maria Corazon (4/5): Strong moldy smell of the room was disgusting! - We chose this hotel as it was my birthday and wanted to treat ourselves with a nice bed & breakfast accommodation but apalled with the strong moldy smell of the room. We thought the sunroof's moist that leeks into the bed cover was causing the problem but when reported the lady won't understand. Me and my husband sneezed a lot while in the room, good we booked 2 nights only; as soon as we left we got better.
On the positive, the room seems clean, nice big bathroom and bed, beddings nice plus breakfast was adequate.
Also its location is pretty close to Plaza de Armas.
