- Ashley (10/5): Best hotel in San Jose! - I felt so welcome the moment I walked onto the property. It’s a very secure place and I felt very safe, especially as a female, solo traveler. The check in was very easy and the kind security guard helped me to my room. Jennifer (I believe her name is) is extremely sweet and made sure I had everything I needed for my stay. Everyone was so nice! The restaurant staff is so attentive and very efficient with the food orders. I was so happy to enjoy the free breakfast, the pool, and the wonderful room. Everything was very clean and organized. I wish to return soon! This will be my first choice for hotels in San Jose :) Muchas gracias!!

- Veronica (10/5): Great stay- Be sure to check out the trails! - Villa San Ignacio is a beautiful hotel creatively nestled in nature, but close to the hustle and bustle. The staff was very friendly and helpful with my late arrival. My room was clean with great little touches for a comfortable and productive stay. A small desk for working, floorspace for yoga by the bed, beautiful natural light, and a very comfortable bed. I enjoyed my breakfast, then a walk through the jungle trails on the property, and a quick dip in the pool. Highly recommend this unique stay!

- Tania (10/5): - Because of the proximity to SJO airport, I booked this hotel as an "in-between" after a long travel day ... But what a surprise, this place is a little piece of heaven right outside the city! The hotel property is like it's own little secret National Park! Rooms have air conditioning via a mini-split and private patios looking over the grounds! Plenty of parking if you're renting a car. Very well kept with even some hiking trails! The restaurant is a lovely indoor/outdoor setting and we had some pretty incredible meals! The only thing I regret is not booking this place for longer! We will be back!

The shower’s water pressure was amazing. The hotel was a little noisy since it is right off of a well-traveled road and we heard loud motorcycles well into the night. The mattress was fine for me, but some others in my group complained about it being too firm.

- Tammy (10/5): Great Stay - What a great place to stay for the night before our flight. The beds are firm, which I like, and the pillows are probably the most comfortable pillows of all my travels. The fish tacos were excellent and the gallo pinto in the typico breakfast was the best I’ve had on 2 trips to Costa Rica. The place was very clean. Hot water in the showers was excellent and the water pressure is the highest pressure I’ve seen anywhere including my own home in the States. The one negative is the street noise. It was extremely loud in our standard room. We were not in a room facing the street but on the back side of the building near the street. The motorcycles and big trucks did finally quiet down from about 10 or 11 pm until maybe 6 am. My tip: Pay extra to get a room not at the front of the property.

- Verified traveler (10/5): A little piece of luxury - for great value - We stayed for our last night before heading to the airport and it was a lovely piece of luxury to end the holiday. Great size room, quiet, excellent water pressure and temperature (not a given in Costa Rica from our experience!) Breakfast was great - lots of options to order. Pool was clean and lots of loungers. We stayed for a while after checkout and walked the short trails in the grounds, plus had a delicious lunch at the restaurant. Then to top it off, less than £10 for an Uber to the airport (took 20 mins or so at 3pm). Highly recommend for a night or two.

We would not stay anymore than one night a there is NO TV, It's an older property and it showed, there was hot water when I took a shower, but when my husband went in, it was cold. It's noisy being next to the main the road. There is nothing really to do around it and no ice available. There were HUGE spiders everywhere outside. However, the people were very nice and I felt very safe with the guard there all the time. We didn't really eat dinner or breakfast as we wanted something different, but the menu was fair and so was the price for the room. My husband did not mind saving $100 for the night by Not going to a big name hotel and staying there.

Pool tables. Chess boards strategically placed around various sitting rooms. Hot shower. Popcorn at dinner. Free breakfast. My only complaint was the server rushing us out the door last night a full 30 minutes before close.

Thre are only a couple of things that need improving invluding adding a diverse menu with great portions. For example, being a tropical country the fruit salad would be one of the best dishes but it left alot to be desired. The second thing to improve would be the bathrooms..they flood while one is taking a shower and the entire space gets wet. Apart from this I would stay here again. Its a very beautifully designed, decorated and comfortable villa.

- M (10/5): - Charming little gem in the middle of the city. Clean and bright rooms with beautiful gardens. Surrounding neighborhood area is a bit rough so walking isnt advisable. Great breakfast included. The only thing I would suggest the owners add are extra door locks for security once inside the room. These only have small pin locks on the door handles.

The neighborhood is not good so it felt like this oasis in the middle of a noisy, busy dirty zone. Be aware there is no tv in the room but you won't mind because of other activities on the property. If you stay more than a few nights, you will want to book excursions to other areas for things to do during the day.
- Tim (8/5): - this is a very nice typical small hotel. the staff is extremely friendly, the restaurant was good, the grounds are pretty and the room was clean. unfortunately i arrived at rush hour and it took me more than an hour to drive the 7km from the airport to the hotel. san jose traffic is notoriously horrible so i probably would have dnvountered that problem with any hotel
- Jane (10/5): Oasis close to the airport - What a fabulous place! The staff, food and beautiful grounds were wonderful. My husband and I loved our stay and will return when visiting Costa Rica. Highly recommend!

Great price for a beautiful property with great food, a pool, trails, comfy rooms, and close to SJO airport. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to end our trip before flying home!

- Tracy (10/5): - We were so delightfully surprised with our stay at Villa San Ignacio. The entire grounds, our room, the restaurant and all community areas were so thoughtfully designed and decorated. Not a detail was unforgotten. Especially appreciated the pool table and comfortable seating areas and beautiful art. The staff were incredibly sweet and helpful, the trails and grounds surrounding the property were so much fun to explore during our short stay. We stayed here overnight before going to San Jose airport, and wish we could’ve spent some additional time here. We will definitely be coming back to the hotel again on our trips to Costa Rica. What a lovely place!!

- Verified traveler (10/5): Absolutely in love with this hotel - We stayed at Villa San Ignacio for one night before departing from the San Jose airport. It's only a 20 minute drive to the airport off of the busy highway. However, the reason you should stay here is because it is a gem! I could stay here again and again...it's so adorable, quaint, clean, friendly, and the restaurant served the best food and coffee we had all week in Costa Rica. Go!
- William (10/5): - This small hotel and compound has a very good restaurant, pool and bar set up. We regularly use it coming in and out of SJO as a stopping off point. It’s great value and very nice.
- Karem (10/5): - We booked Villa San Ignacio as our final night in Costa Rica - we needed a place to stay near San Jose the night before our 6am flight. We were so wonderfully and pleasantly surprised by what is a beautiful little oasis in the middle of town. Our family of 5 booked the 2 bedroom suite and it was beyond perfect. So spacious with an upgraded and very large bathroom. There were 3 sinks and mirrors making it super easy to get ready. It also featured a large shower with great water pressure. The beds are super comfortable. The grounds are really pretty and the pool area lovely. We ate at Pandora, their restaurant, for lunch and dinner and really enjoyed it. The food was well priced for a hotel restaurant and very delicious. Because we would miss the complimentary breakfast due to our early checkout, they left us to-go breakfasts outside our bedroom at 3am. All in all, a perfect gem of a hotel in San Jose. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in the area.
