The concierge staff were so warm and friendly, as were the staff at breakfast. The room was superb, with the most comfortable bed ever. The location was spot on for visiting the city centre; despite being within easy walking distance of all the hotspots, there was absolutely no noise after dark. And to cap it all, we received a generous gift on arrival and again on our final night.

It was also a quick walk down to the water. We would definitely recommend this place for sightseeing and relaxing.The room we had was very spacious for three people. We had a double bed and a single bed in the same room. It was beautifully decorated with colorful tiles and had nice amenities in the bathroom. The property has an elevator which worked well for us as we didn't have to drag our luggage up flights of stairs. Staff was incredibly friendly. They also left little treats in our room. The restaurant served delicious food and great drinks. The shower has a very nice rainfall shower head which puts out a lot of water and sometimes doesn't drain quickly enough. But otherwise there's absolutely nothing else about the property that we would change.

- 463taitf (10/5): One night but wish it was longer. - My wife and I stayed 1 night at Almlusa on our return trip from Spain celebrating our 25th anniversary. I'm the almost 3 weeks we started at 4 and 5 star hotels in a number of cities, and we were pleasantly surprised with our stay at Almalusa. We were given our room when we arrived 4 hours before check-in and were bumped to a suite. The staff was resomponsive and attentive. Within hours of arrival they brought us a complimentary botte of wine and some muffins. Later, they brought us a bar of Artisan soap as a gift. The location is great, just off the busy waterfront neighborhoods, but quiet and comfortable. We both recommend a stay a Almalusa and will stay here again if we come back to Lisbon.

- MM1908 (8/5): A good experience again - Returned to Almalusa after we stayed last year in their Alfama hotel. This one has a parking right in front of the hotel and since we had a car, this was more convenient. Nice view over the square but there are some reno works happening right next to the hotel: no noise but view was not so nice. Hotel is really nice, great location, great staff. Nice spacious rooms. We had the suite with kitchenette and this offered a lot of space to sit and move around. Bfast was nice, small but good selection of nice food. Specifically tea options were great with fresh mint, dried fruits, cinnamon sticks. And freshly baked pasteis de nata. We had dinner one evening in the restaurant where they have a nice selection of Portugues food, wines and lovely desserts

- MiaMayo (10/5): This boutique hotel has it all - This hotel has it all; location, excellent staff, comfortable rooms and fair pricing. This Alma Luisa is a small boutique hotel with a most interesting foyer, rooms a small reception and an adjacent restaurant. There is very little public space but no matter as the delights of Lisbon is on your doorstep. Quite literally as you step out into an attractive square and from there most sites and attractions are reachable on foot or via the adjacent tram or underground. Our room was a step up from the basic room and was worth the upgrade as it was a good size with a lovely aspect onto the square. The shower was powerful in a very pretty bathroom and the linen of excellent quality. The addition of a nespresso machine and delivery the chocolate treat was most welcome not to mention sublime. There were many nice touches from the really attentive staff like the delivery of a lovely soap and a complimentary drink when we had to wait for our room. This hotel gets all the basics right and then boosts the experience with much appreciated surprises. Loved it.

It is located in a quiet square a close walk to the Praça do Comércio and all the Chiado shopping and restaurants. - birdcage61 (2/5): Horrendous Tram Noise and Vibration – Avoid if You Want to Sleep - We booked a two-night stay in a triple room for my wife, our daughter, and myself at AlmaLusa Baixa/Chiado. The room itself was large, clean, and well-furnished. The bathroom was somewhat cramped, with the shower extremely close to the toilet, but for a short stay this wasn’t a major issue. What was a major issue was the tram noise and vibration. The room description states: “Spacious and elegant room overlooking our interior courtyard, situated close to the bustling Calçada de San Francisco, where the iconic 28 tram passes.” Any reasonable reader would interpret this as meaning the hotel is conveniently located near the tram. What it does not make clear is that the tram lines run along the road behind the hotel from 5:30am until after midnight, trams pass in both directions roughly every ten minutes, and the room literally shakes when they go by. The first tram of the morning was a shocking wake-up call — genuinely like a bomb going off nearby. The shutters rattled and the floor vibrated. It was impossible to sleep through. When we complained the following morning and suggested this extreme level of noise should be clearly disclosed, we were referred to the room description and told it clearly states that courtyard-facing rooms are noisy. This is simply not true. There is absolutely no mention of noise or vibration anywhere in the description. For clarity, the building directly behind the hotel fronts the road where the trams run in both directions on metal tracks — extremely close to the hotel. I have included a photograph with hotel ringed in red. The so-called “interior courtyard” sounds charming in the description, but in reality, it is a narrow space containing large air-conditioning fans at ground level, sandwiched between the rear of the hotel and the building that faces the tram line. I have included a photograph. In the morning, we asked to move rooms. We were told all triple rooms face the courtyard and that the only alternative would be a junior suite — at additional cost. We were also told we had been given Room 21 on a lower floor because the higher floors experience even worse noise and vibration. We were told that the room description states that the rooms facing the inner courtyard are noisy, but this is obviously not the case as there is no mention whatsoever of this fact in the description. What surprised us most was the complete lack of apology or genuine attempt to resolve the issue. In over forty years of travelling for business and leisure, if there has ever been a serious issue with a room, hotels have offered an upgrade without hesitation and without additional charge. That was certainly not the case here. During our stay, we were told that only five of the 28 rooms were occupied, and as a result the buffet breakfast was not being offered (the same items were offered from the à la carte menu instead, which was perfectly good). This made it even more astonishing that the hotel chose not to move us after such a dreadful first night. With so few guests, resolving the situation would have been easy and we would have been able to a have restful second night. We used wax earplugs in the hope of getting some sleep on the second night, but it made absolutely no difference, the noise was so intrusive. We were relieved to be checking out. Before leaving, we asked to speak to the hotel/duty manager. We explained again that the description does not state that the rooms are noisy and that we would never have booked had this been made clear. He repeated that the description makes it clear. It does not. At no point during the complaint was any apology offered. The only apology we received during our entire stay came from a young receptionist as we were leaving. To be fair, the restaurant food was good and the evening cocktails were enjoyable. The staff on reception and in the restaurant/bar were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is also well located in the old town, close to bars, restaurants, and shopping. Unfortunately, it is simply too close to the tram line. Only after we had experienced the noise and vibration on our first night and complained, were we told that all rooms facing this direction are noisy — but this crucial information is not disclosed in the booking description, as the hotel manager insisted it was, even after we showed him the actual description online. The attitude of the manager and the hotel policy regarding room changes demonstrated extremely poor customer service. This was meant to be a restful break during a difficult time dealing with family health problems. Instead, it turned into a sleepless nightmare. If you value your sleep, avoid this hotel unless and until they clearly state that these rooms are subject to extreme tram noise and vibration. Check other reviews on Trip Advisor that complain of exactly the same experience.

- Scenic38936599086 (10/5): Amazing Historic Hotel stay in Lisbon - We have been to Lisbon several times and this hotel is going to be our go to place to say. The building is an 18th century conversion, but they did an amazing job with modern amenities. Beautiful accommodation, staff is 5 star polite and helpful. Location is perfect for historic exploring the old city. Restaurants are 4-5 star all within walking distance. Public Transportation all around. If you want an amazing experience in old Lisbon, this is where we suggest you stay.

The attention to details was amazing and the thoughtfulness of the hotel to the well being of the guests is something else. The staff was so friendly and welcoming and I can honestly say that it was one of my favourite places to stay in.

- Fumi (8/5): 清潔で新しい立地のいいホテルでした - 立地がよくとても清潔でした。スタッフの方も皆さん優しかったです。ハネムーンと伝えたらお菓子とお手紙をいただき嬉しかったです！朝食もとてもおいしかったです。 夜はシャワーがぬるく水圧も低く寒すぎたので、仕方なく朝入りました。水圧はずっと低かったです。また、朝食の早朝サービスを頼みましたが、おそらくこちらの英語力のせいで日にちが間違って伝わっており、食べられませんでした。こちらの非もあると思いますが、事前にメッセージでも伝えてあったので、返金の相談もなく、何より食べられず悲しかったです…。それと少し割高だと感じました。
